Please complete this form to enter your film in our competition. Please remember the following rules when submitting:
RULES
All short films must be written, directed, edited, and produced by teens in grades 6-12, or ages 11-18.
Entries may be either a group project or individual work, but only one (1) prize package will be awarded to each winning film.
Teens may contribute to as many films as they wish, but may only enter one (1) film as its director.
Adult guidance and instruction are permitted, but the planning and production must reflect teen effort. Note, however, that adults are permitted to act in your film.
Films should contain appropriate content for teens (equivalent of a G, PG, or PG-13 film).
Title pages and credits should be included in your film.
Films may be no more than 10 minutes in length, including credits.
You can film wherever you wish, but it is your responsibility to receive permission from the location owner to film there.
Films must be submitted online by 11:59 PM on Thursday, July 26.
All filmmakers must obtain written permission to use copyrighted music in their films. Filmmakers must provide documentation to the Library that proper authorization has been given. Filmmakers can also use their own original music or choose to use copyright-free, public domain, trade-friendly, or creative commons copyright music.
Participants will be required to incorporate into their submissions a surprise theme, prop and line of dialogue, which which can be found at the SBPL website. Submissions that do not incorporate these elements will be disqualified.
FORMAT AND SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Films should be uploaded to a video sharing service (such as YouTube or Vimeo) and submitted through our submission page (
https://goo.gl/forms/zmnMYHTUGAS1iN5p1). Videos may be password protected, but the password must be included in your submission.
All participants (including actors) must complete a waiver/release form and return it to the Santa Barbara Public Library before the submission deadline.
