The first rule of office romance is don’t do it—especially if your dream is to hold the anchor spot on the nightly news and your boss is trying to get you fired.

But one look at Cade Hill, the sexy new sports director, and uptight reporter Rebecca Fieldstone is daydreaming about other things.

Sex in his office…
Sex in the on-set kitchen…
Sex in the supply closet…

She can’t stop thinking about the former NFL quarterback and how perfect he’d look between her sheets—except he’s an arrogant jerk with a huge… ego.

He’s the last guy she’d ever have a one-night stand with.

Cade Hill draws a thick professional line on office romance—until it comes to the hyper-focused Rebecca. He wants her, and he gets his wish when a chance encounter has them having the hottest sex of their lives.

It’s just a hook-up, she says.
When can we do it again? he says.

With Rebecca determined to keep Cade in the friend zone, it’s going to be an uphill battle for Cade to convince her he’s the last guy she’ll ever want.

WOW! What a dynamic duo. Having read and loved each of these authors individually I had no doubt they would be able to deliver a book full of laugh, heat, and heart. Having had wanted something so strongly and having it just out of my reach before made me relate to Rebecca’s struggles. I saw myself in her and found myself completely wrapped up in her life and story. The chemistry these two have is off the charts and their witty banter moved the story along at just the right pace.

The Last Guy is a hilarious romantic comedy that mixes the fast paced environment of a news room with the cool demeanor of a former NFL player. Rebecca is a news reporter hoping to move passed reporting on fluff pieces like beauty pageants and into the chair of the anchor’s desk. Sitting in her way is the too sexy and way too cocky former football player turned sports anchor, Cade Hill.

At it’s heart The Last Guy is a comedy but I personally found it to be so much more. Cade’s surprising sweet nature caught me off guard and Rebecca’s drive had me rooting for her to overcome the obstacles in her way to get the hob she wants. I love an office romance and this is one I can see myself re-reading over and over again.

4.5 Everything To Like Stars
* * * * 1/2 Spoiler Free and It's Live!
Earlier today I received a surprise... this arc by Ilsa Madden-Mills and Tia Louise... both authors who have given me hours and hours of smart, sexy, joyous reading. No one needed to twist my arm to start this right away...and I am glad I did.

This takes the forbidden office romance and places it firmly in a busy newsroom. The premise has a driven, focused woman who has put her time in at this station and is aiming to take over the Weekend Anchor Position.

Rebecca Fieldstone knows she has the goods to do right by the station and herself. Her reputation is solid and the community likes her. Her boss, the station manager use to like her too... but lately he has been gunning for her to fail...So she must stay the course... keep bringing in strong stories and show the Board what an asset she is...Only now it has become an up hill battle with all these fluff pieces the manager keeps assigning her.

Rebecca is also distracted...there is a sexy ex football player who has taken over the Sports Division. She sees him and her pulse goes out of wack... she dreams about him and this is not good. She also doesn't like his cocky attitude and the fact he had no journalism experience before the Station took him on...

What Rebecca doesn't know is Cade Hill has more than paid his dues... on the field and off. With Super Bowl wins and a law degree, he is more than capable to handle Sports for the station. He had his own desires... and then he blew out his knee. It also didn't help that his society fiance left him during his time of need. When his first dream was smashed, Cade rebounded stronger and figured out how to stay an active player in Sport when he couldn't on the field.

These two keep crossing paths at the station and it becomes very intense... the chemistry is insane.

Both have these thoughts about the other
Both know it is career suicide to do the office romance

And both end up at the same club, getting smashed and living out their personal fantasies with each other...The Sex is out of this World Insanely Good...All of the moving parts work perfectly... even when his are XXL sized....

But this hook up must be a one time thing....

Really, cause I don't think so....
And neither did these Authors...

They created a story with lots of sexy times, humor and heart... with a dashes of subplot points. There are huge doses of Cultural Touchstones of all sorts...references to specific Fast Food, a Drag Queen bestie/roommate who has a large following and does Ru Paul, and a viral video to name a few...

The dialogue is loaded... loaded with lots of sexual tension, dirty sexy talk when these two are doing the nasty. Overall, this has all of the makings for a fun read by these two authors. I can just imagine what they may think up next...for this has all of the elements for more...

Review at Of Pens and Pages.

The Last Guy was quick, steamy, and fun to read—just what I needed after a long day at work. There's effortless flow in the dialogue and story, strong, likable characters, sizzling chemistry and witty banter between Rebecca and Cade, and sex and dirty talk that made me blush all throughout the book! Plus, there are interesting characters on the side—Rebecca's drag queen roommate, Chas, and Cade's younger brother, Trent, to name a few.

Rebecca Fieldstone wants to move past toddler pageants and handsy primates, and have the spot as the weekend news anchor. She's worked hard for it, and she knows she has the experience and passion for the position. Because of a few hiccups, there's a risk she might lose the coveted position. Now more than ever, she needs to keep her eyes on the prize and not get distracted by the new guy who waltzed in like he owned the place.

Ex-NFL quarterback turned news sports director Cade Hill may look like the job was handed to him on a silver platter, but with his law degree and Super Bowl wins under his belt, he knows he's more than capable for the job. From the moment he's joined the team at the newsroom, he can't take his eyes off Rebecca. Unfortunately for him, Rebecca couldn't stand him, thinking he's nothing but a privileged player.

When an evening of drag queens and drinks leave open an opportunity for Cade to prove Rebecca wrong, he goes the extra mile and literally charms the pants off of her. After the night of drunk yet hot and mind-blowing sex, Cade wants more. But he has to prove to Rebecca that he's nothing like she thinks he is, and he could be the guy for her.

Former athlete? Check. Facial hair? Check. Rocks a suit? Check. Dirty mouth? Double check. Cade Hill has everything it takes to be an ultimate panty-dropper, and with his sweet and sexy personality, you can include heart-flutterer in his skill set. He's nothing like Rebecca thought before she really knew him. He's smart, funny, and thoughtful as hell, and he knows how to use what he's got. And you and I both know he's got a lot. lol

I've got a love for Rebecca, too! Like Cade, she's smart, funny, and incredibly hard-working. She knows what she wants and will do her best to get it. She had a strong prejudice against Cade when he first joined the team, but to her credit, she (mostly) didn't question his sincerity when he showed her who he really was.

Fans of Ilsa Madden-Mills and Tia Louis will love this fun and filthy forbidden office romance set in the newsroom.

What do you get when two amazing authors team up to write Rom-Com? You get a story that will completely captivate you, have you laughing out loud, and swooning all over the place.

I've been in a bit of a reading funk lately and with my new work schedule it's been taking me days to read a book, instead of finishing a book a day. But when Tia asked if I wanted to read The Last Guy I jumped on the chance and as soon as I started, I was hooked. I stayed up late just so I wouldn't have to put this fantastic book down and let go of these characters. Rebecca and Cade were brilliant to read about and they really had a great relationship. It was an enemies-to-lovers type of story with just the right amount of drama and intrigue.

Cade was the best Hero I could ask for and he was just so open with Rebecca, which isn't something we see all that often. Rebecca was the one that was a little closed off and didn't want to give in to Cade. I really liked that about their relationship and that we got to see Cade work for her attention and affection.

Rebecca was the character that made me laugh the most. She had some pretty unfortunate events happen to her throughout this book but they had me giggling the majority of the time this book was in my hands. I liked that she didn't let these things beat her down though and that she didn't give up on her dreams.

Bottom line, don't miss out on this book. It was sexy, and humorous, and I think it will have everyone that gives it a shot entrapped in it's story.

Rebecca Fieldstone has seen my cock, told me off, cried on my shoulder, and then apologized. It’s the most personal interaction we’ve ever had.

This little ditty's a bit of sweet, a little snarky and a whole lot of sexy all rolled into one awesome ball of goodness! I had the best time reading The Last Guy and I'm really hoping these two storytellers are going to team up again sometime in the not so distant future.

Overall Opinion: This was a cute, funny, and sexy read. Did it get deep into the characters and the story? No. Am I going to remember everything about this in a few months? Probably not. BUT it was good for what it was. After reading the blurb I wasn't necessarily expecting something deep and meaningful, so I wasn't disappointed with what it was. It was pretty hot too! They had some great chemistry. So it'll work great for those readers looking for a little-to-no angst, sexy, and funny read 😊

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Rebecca and Cade's story. They've been working together at a new station for a little while when the story starts. Rebecca is a feature reporter and is working hard towards her goal of being the new weekend anchor, and Cade is an ex NFL quarterback turned news anchor. They bump heads for a while, but after an amazing drunken ONS things start to change. There are some funny moments, a little family and work drama, and some sexy times...and they get a HFN ending.

POV: This alternated between Rebecca and Cade's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Good. I never skimmed and I thought it flowed well.

Instalove: No, they take a while to develop stronger feelings.

H rating: 3.5 stars. Cade. He was a good guy, but I don't feel like we got that into his character tbh.

h rating: 4 stars. Rebecca. I liked her. She was sassy, funny, and I appreciated her drive.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Hot. They have some hot tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story.

Descriptive sex: Yes

Safe sex: Yes and no

OW/OM drama: Mild

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: No

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Not really

Closure: This had decent closure with what I would call a HFN ending

How I got it: I got it with my kindle unlimited subscription.

Safety: This one should be Safe for most safety gang readers

I love a book that gives you some sweet, some snarky, some love, and a whole lot of sexiness. I enjoyed this read. It was simple, it was quick, and it left my heart warm💗

Cade Hill is what every single lady wants. He's a retired NFL player turned TV sports anchor. He's been burned in his past and isn't looking for anything resulting in a lifetime of bliss or babies. That's until he has had a taste of Rebecca Fieldstone. Or does a few weeks give him enough of what he needs, or wants??!!

Rebecca 'Stone' is chasing her dream job and has it in her grasp. So she thinks.... Her world is thrown off balance by falling for someone off limits. Her mind is obviously elsewhere while she is exploring this new found obsession of Cade Hill. She is shocked to learn her plans don't play out at all how she thought they would. Not at all. Love surprising books.

Definite one I'd recommend if your looking for sweet, light, and one that leaves you filling happy ❤️

*** 3 Seductive Lip Bites ***

Um... it was okay. I guess. Yeah, just... hmm, just okay.

description

Truth is, there wasn't really anything stand-out for me in this book. If it hadn't been for the steamy scenes in this book, it would have fallen into a 2-star read for me. There were some spicy scenes. There were some funny scenes. There was co-worker romance. There was some push and pull. There was a HEA. There was just nothing that made me really dig in to these characters and their story.

description

It was an easy, light read. Nothing with much meat to really sink your teeth into. Sometimes it seemed slightly off-kilter. Not horribly... just a bit disjointed. Maybe it's the combo of authors...

description

Point being... I didn't love it and I didn't hate it. It would be a really, really good beach or vacay read. Easy to get through in a reasonable amount of time. Not something I'll be remembering for years months weeks days to come.

The Last Guy is a light, fun, and sexy office romance! It boasts enjoyable main characters, hilarious secondary characters, and is an overall good time.

Here's the Breakdown: Rebecca Fieldstone is on a mission to secure the weekend anchor position at work. She currently works as field reporter, but dreams of sitting behind the desk in the top spot. Cade Hill is a sexy former football star who managed to secure an anchor position seemingly with only luck. These two clash in all the right ways.

What I enjoyed: The story is light and entertaining. There's a lot going on, but it's not dense or overly dramatic. Just funny and sexy!

 photo IMG_1429.jpg

The main characters - Rebecca is dedicated, sexy, and tenacious. I really enjoy that in a female lead. Cade is supportive, helpful, and sexy. I definitely love that in a leading man. These two were super cute at work, but lit the sheets on fire at home.

The secondary characters are hilarious. They definitely grab your attention and hang on to it. I found myself shipping Trent and Chas super hard LOL. I'd love to see them together. I definitely want to know how Trent's story plays out. He was a bit of a scene stealer.

Overall, the story grabbed my attention and held it. I laughed, rooted for the main characters, and smiled at the end. That's pretty much what I look for in a light romance. Thumbs up from yours truly!

I can't exactly put my finger on it but I wasn't able to get into this book at all.

I normally like this writer’s work but this felt like a step backwards to me compared to her “English” series.

There is not much character depth or development in it so I couldn’t care less for either of the characters.

Besides the flat and superficial characters, the story-line was cliché and it was awfully boring.

The scenes that are planned to be funny aren’t anything original.
E.g. The heroine is a reporter and in a Zoo interview, a baby monkey opens her blouse and causes her boobs to be seen on TV. So what? Is this funny?
Things like that made me roll my eyes all the time!

Also, I really didn't feel the chemistry between the hero and the heroine. Therefore, I wanted to skip all the intimate scenes and then, at approximately 35-40% of the book, I found myself trying miserably to move forward but wanting to skip everything. At that point, I put a stop to my torture, skimmed and scanned some chapters and read the ending.

My final thoughts:
Do not waste your money...

The Last Guy was steamy, romantic, funny, and kept my attention until the last page. The chemistry between Cade and Rebecca was palpable. He treated her with care and respect. The sex scenes were everything I hoped they would be and more.
The storyline of this book was kind of predictable. I’m not going to tell too much about the story since I don’t want to spoil anything. And even though most of it was predictable I really enjoyed it!
A mix of sweet and sexy, this book has appeal for all romance readers. Loved it!

In short:
Hero 4/5 | Heroine 4/5 | Plot (Point, Originality) 3/5 | Writing Style 4/5 | Steam 5/5 | Romance 4/5 | Angst-Suspense 3/5 | Darkness 0/5 | Humor 4/5 | Secondary Characters 4/5 | Drama-Conflict 4/5 | Mystery 0/5 | Twists 3/5 | Pacing Steady | Action 3/5

Funny and sexy. The Last Guy strings together one humorous situation after another, rambunctious monkeys and drag queens may be involved, giving readers one reason after the next to laugh out loud from start to finish.

Rebecca Fieldstone has wanted an anchor position in her hometown’s biggest network news station for as long as she can remember. Her boss though, has different ideas of who should fill the spot. Rebecca cannot afford to lose focus, but every time the delectable ex-NFL quarterback and new sports director comes into her range of vision all she can do is think about is Cade Hill’s sexiness… and arrogance.

After one too many shots at a drag show though, all arrogance is forgotten after the best sex of their lives. Cade is convinced they have something worth exploring and would risk having an office romance if only Rebecca would give him a chance. Can he find a way to change her mind?

This office romance was fun, fun, fun! Ilsa and Tia make a great writing duo creating appealing characters, an enjoyable plot and a flow that kept me captivated.

Even though Cade is initially portrayed as douche canoe, he’s actually a really great guy. He’s smart and driven, a loving brother. He just wasn’t about to let Rebecca’s verbal provocations lying down, their verbal sparring was witty and hot, and once he cracked her defenses he was also supportive and caring.

These two had so much chemistry that doing the midnight organ fight once and under the influence definitely wouldn’t be enough. Even when they had to hide it at work because it would hurt Rebecca’s chances at the anchor spot. But as the heat between the two rises, so does the level of affection.

The Last Guy is a standalone contemporary romantic comedy by Ilsa Madden-Mills and Tia Louse. It’s lighthearted fun and sexy read, told from both points of view with a happy ending.

Brilliant ❤

I really enjoyed this book. The story was really good it had everything in it humour sexiness sadness and happiness. I ve read al of Tia Louise books and luvd everyone but this book is quite different to her other books. It was really good to see do something different. I ve not read anything by Ilsa Madden-Mills but I have to say I well now.

The story is about Rebecca and Cade. They both work for the news station KHOT. Rebecca as worked so hard for the new station and want to go even higher but life asn't really been good to her lately. She could see where she wanted to be but she could see it fading away. What made things harder was the very sexy Cade Hill. She had to see him everyday looking hot and sexy but also cocky and full of himself.

Cade was a top NFL player and had a great career but when he blow his knee he had no choice but to left the NFL. He could see himself in front of the TV screen and knew he would be good. Stone/Rebecca had caught his eye straight away but work and relationships didn't mix. This was one thing they both agreed on. But after things happened they ended up getting close. There sexual tension was so hot they couldnt stop what was goin to happen between them.

I really enjoyed the characters from this book and would luv more from Trent and Chassy they were great characters and had me laughing throughout the book. Rebecca and Cade were really good strong characters as well they had both been burned in there past relationships and there career meant a lot to them. I luvd that it was dual pov I really like getting to know both characters. One thing that I enjoyed in this book was the humour the things that happened had me laughing and smiling to myself. I would highly recommend this book just for the humour even though I enjoyed everything about it.

Review @ Midnight Romance

I have read some of Tia Louise but this is my first from Ilsa Madden-Mills. I didn't know what to expect from this book beside the guy on the cover. Luckily, the story isn't heavy on sports because it isn't my thing.

Rebecca Fieldstone works very hard to be the weekend news anchor but she has no luck. Rebecca also has a bit crush towards the certain handsome jerk with nice ass, Cade Hill. But Rebecca thinks Cade earned his position as the new sports director easily because of his status. Office romance is definitely no for Rebecca but Cade is still in pursue until they couldn't hold their lust anymore.
Rebecca Fieldstone has seen my cock, told me off, cried on my shoulder, and then apologized. It’s the most personal interaction we’ve ever had.

Rebecca is an independent, smart and hard working woman. Even after many unfortunate events with her job, she still remains professional. Rebecca has amazing work ethic and deserved the position. But her hard-ass boss will never let it happen. Rebecca isn't perfect and that's why I easily liked her.

Beside his family drama (divorced parents, homophobic father and queer brother), Cade appears just like a regular rich guy. But he never show off his money. Cade also loves his work. Who knows an ex-NFL quarterback and golden boy earned his own degree. But Cade never let his eyes off from the certain feisty woman who is always in his dream lately.

I really enjoyed their banter. The tug-of-war between them are adorable. I liked the characters (main and side) to each their own flaws. The story was okay for me and nicely written. Maybe the minus is from Cade's ex because she's so damn handsy and he did nothing to stop this crazy woman! Overall, this is just a plain office romance with lovely banter and good laugh. Oh, also super steamy sex. Always love (non OTT) alpha male like Cade Hill.

The title should’ve been “The Perfect Guy” because holy wow, y’all! He’s mine!

The mix of Madden-Mills and Louise together is reading bliss. Addictive banter, magnetic characters, and enough heat to rival the desert, The Last Guy is exactly what I want in a summer read. I mean, you know a book hit ‘great level’ when you hit the last page and think, ‘I’m not ready to let them go!’ A splash of comedy, a dose of wit, and a whole lot of sexy, this is the perfect beach read.

You know your check-off sheet of what makes an amazing book? This one checks them all. Immediate one-click!

Rebecca Fieldstone is 28. She's been trying to get the news anchor spot at the top Houston TV station for years. And now she's almost too old. Botox was mentioned!!! They want to move her behind the camera - to production! Her boss doesn't like her - he likes the fresh-out-of-college 23-year-old, size zero girl.
And then there's the super-hot former pro football god Cade Hill ...

... the new sports anchor. He likes her. She likes him. They are amazing together in bed and out. But both don't want anything serious. And a relationship between them could destroy her career completely. Also there's his horrible and clinging ex and Rebecca's jealousy and so many other things standing in the way.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN WITH REBECCA & CADE?
WILL THERE BE A HAPPILY EVER AFTER??
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT ☺

ADORABLE!

This was such a great romantic comedy. With a bit of drama and excitement. LOTS of sexy moments and cute moments. I loved it. I wouldn't mind seeing it on TV one day. It's a bit Sandra Bullock-ish! ☺

Cade is such a sweet guy. He doesn't want another long-term thing after his ex left him for someone else. But the more time he spends with this frustrating reporter woman - the more he changes his mind about a white picket fence future! Sooo adorable!
And poor Rebecca - she only ever wanted this news anchor job. But suddenly everything seems to fall apart, and Cade is the only real thing in her life....but she doesn't trust easily...

Of course we have some of those - in most romances unavoidable - unnecessary drama moments in here too. I don't really like those. You know the ones? Where there's a lie or a not-telling-the-other-everything or a misunderstanding. Things like that. We fight, break up, bla bla - and get back together at the end. I wish authors wouldn't do this typical thing so much. Find other problems our darlings could face. No idea what, but there has to be something other than unnecessary drama. ☺
Another thing I didn't love was the mention of sooo many 'pop-culture' things. Things/shows I have never heard of watched. Like the Kardashians and the Drag Race and The Office. That was a bit too much!
BUT - I still really loved Cade & his Stone and the story!!! I also love a story that's told in both the hero and heroine's POV! And we have a really adorable and funny supporting cast!

THE LAST GUY was such an adorable #RomCom! Verrrry sexy, funny & sweet! Run to your nearest amazon asap, you will not waste your hard-earned money reading this sweet & sexy romance! Also, you need to buy your own Cade - this one is MINE! ☺

The Last Guy fue divertido, fresco y ameno.

5 Solid Cade and Rebecca Stars

What a gorgeous book! The cover and blurb on this book grabbed my attention and the fabulous writing, characters and story line kept me with my nose in this book until the early hours. Then, despite sleep deprivation I was straight into it again the next day. I couldn't put this one down.

Rebecca is an awesome heroine. She made me laugh, cry, sigh and had me desperately rooting for her when all the cards seemed stacked against her. She is hilarious at times but that is tempered with her determination, honesty and dedication to her job. She is so likeable.

Cade is a former NFL superstar turned sports anchor for the same TV Network that Rebecca works for. There is some seriously intense chemistry between these two and eventually the inevitable happens and they have one hot night together....but will one night be enough?? Hell no....

Fantastic secondary characters, a fast paced plot and a swoonworthy love story gives this book the edge over many similar in this genre. It is sexy, sweet and funny - perfect for a lighter read but I still had tears in my eyes at times because I really felt for Becks.

I really hope these two authors collaborate again because the pages in this book practically crackled and shimmered with a special kind of energy that kept me hooked to the very end.

HEA? OMG! This is one of the loveliest epilogues ever. Cade and Rebecca are made for each other.
Cheating? No. Cade has a slightly bonkers and very clingy ex who keeps trying to wangle her way back to him but that ship had long since sailed.

Sweet, Funny, and Quick!

If anchor man was actually a romcom and not slapstick, it would be this book. It was fun, flirty, and had some naughty bits.

I liked Rebecca and I liked Cade. This is sort of a secret office romance set in a local newsroom. This couple is reluctant to admit how much they want and like each other, and once they realize how they feel they keep it secret as to not mess up their work relationship.

I don't want to ruin anything, just know this is a very fun read. I will say is a really enjoyed the story even though it was pretty simple. It was a page turner and well written. I really enjoyed the writing style of these authors.

If you enjoy romcoms, I would definitely read this one.

Irresistibly charming -- sizzling hot -- and hilariously funny, too!

Cade and Rebecca are sinfully delicious characters with explosive chemistry. The book is a full-house of swoon-worthy emotions.

Kept me captivated to the very end.
