People living with dementia launch a new dementia support project in Brent

The Dementia Peer Support Service, a ground-breaking project run by and for people with dementia, with the support of professional staff, was launched at the Brent Civic Centre in Wembley this week. Dementia affects over 850,000 people in the UK – set to rise to over 1 million by 2021 – and is the leading cause of death in England and Wales, costing the UK £26 billion a year.

Click here to watch a video of our guests and mentors getting active with bollywood dance at the project launch on Wednesday.

Cricklewood Business Assocation March Breakfast Meeting:
supported by Ashford Place and the Clayton Crown Hotel Cricklewood  @CricklewoodBusinessAssoc
Key  talking points this month included
  • Membership: The Association will use FB and twitter to keep in touch with members as well as our monthly meetings.  Please all like us on Facebook, @CricklewoodBusinessAssoc
  • Phone kiosks -  Given the poor state and inappropriate use of current phone boxes on the Broadway e.g. advertising prostitution, dirty kiosks etc Danny will write to BT and Clear Channel (previously Arquiva)  to request that they replace these with modern open pedestal kiosks.
  • CCTV: We are trying to establish what CCTV we have in Cricklewood, who manages it and what it’s for.  See Brent Council  Barnet Council an Camden Council   for details.
  • ASB Anti-Social Behavior. If you have any concerns or queries contact either your Safer Neighbourhood Team
Have a great weekend,
