A 24-year-old woman has alleged that she was raped by two AAP leaders, including the father of deputy Delhi assembly speaker Rakhi Birla, on the pretext of providing her a party ticket for the upcoming MCD elections in Rohini South, police said.

Police said the accused have been identified as Ram Pratap, the party’s district treasurer, and Rakhi’s father Bhupender.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (outer) M N Tiwari said a case under IPC Sections 376D (gangrape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) was registered at Rohini South police station on Sunday.

“We have started a probe and a team has been formed to arrest the accused,” Tiwari said.

Police said the complainant, a widow, has alleged that Ram Pratap raped her several times, in hotel rooms and vacant flats, on the pretext of providing her a party ticket. She further alleged that Pratap introduced her to Bhupender, and the two gangraped her, police said.

Festive offer

According to police, the woman alleged that the two men told her they recorded the act, and threatened her with dire consequences if she told anyone about it.

When contacted, AAP Delhi unit convenor Dilip Pandey said, “This is yet another instance of the BJP attacking AAP by using the Delhi Police. There have been several such cases where AAP MLAs have been attacked just to tarnish their image, but they have come out clean every time.”

“In this case, the accused did not even know the complainant, leave alone having anything to do with her. He was not even in town. The allegations are absolutely baseless and false,” he added.
