Myth 1:  Same questions are iterated in the SSC Exams?

Fact: This is trendy among a lot of candidates, but it is totally baseless and irrational. The fact is that SSC used to introduce similar questions to the previous year questions but not the same questions in all sections whether it is GK, Quant, Reasoning and English. If you don’t believe then you can refer the previous year papers. With the help of SSC previous year question papers, you can find several questions that are asked in same pattern as these were in the previous papers. Myth 2: Maths is all about the shortcut methods and tricks

Fact: It is obvious that Mathematics section comprised of very technical and time-consuming questions because most of the questions in this section require a rigorous practice in solving the complex calculations. Many students believe that it is almost impossible to score good marks without using tricks and shortcuts. But in reality, concepts of these questions are very important instead of shortcut tricks.

Myth 3: Current Affairs or latest news is worthless for SSC exams

Fact: As it is clearly mentioned in the SSC Syllabus that major questions will be asked from GK section whereas questions from current affairs are in meager numbers. However, there are at least 1-2 questions from current affairs along with the History, Geography, Indian Polity, General Science & Economics. You can validate this argument with analyzing the previous year question papers. Hence, coverage of latest events/news can give you 2-3 extra marks. we strongly recommend you to go through at least last 3 month's current affairs.

Myth 4: GK section is very vast and uncertain to cover?

Fact: This myth generally bothers those candidates, who don’t know about the question's pattern of GK section. If you go through the question papers of last 4-5 years, you will find that a few questions had been repeated in the SSC exams. For example, you can find repeated questions on the first's in India, constitutional articles & amendments, folk dances, chemicals, important dates, awards and etc. Hence, we can say that GK section require a efficient strategy to prepare.

Myth 5: English Comprehension questions should be left as these takes a lot of time to solve and the score in this section remains unpredictable?

Fact:  Assumption about leaving this section to save your time in solving other questions is quite an impractical approach. The best strategy that can be adopted is to read comprehension with speed & make rational summary out of it so that you can easily add a score of 5-10 marks in your grand total. It is all about memorizing the important events and facts from the comprehension.

Myth 6:  Grammar is necessary to score good marks in exam?

Fact:  In English language & comprehension, there are total 50 questions and out of these only 5-10 questions are dedicated to spotting errors & 5 questions are from Correction of Sentences while rest 35 questions belongs to vocabulary, reading comprehension and fundamental English usage. Hence, knowledge of English language with grammar is necessary.

Myth 7: Practice of higher Mathematics is needed?

Fact: A few candidates think that graduation is required to be eligible for appearing in the SSC CGL online test. Hence, higher mathematics would be required for tackling quantitative questions. But the fact is that SSC has clearly mentioned in its notification that "Questions in Maths will be of 10th to 12th standard and questions in English section will be of 10+2 level". However, you may find slightly difficult Maths questions in Tier-2 Exam. So, it is advised that you should made false assumptions in your mind.

Myth 8: Marks above 50% in Tier-I is enough to qualify?

Fact: Till 2015, the cut off marks has never crossed the statistics of 103 for General, 90 for OBC and 80 for SC/ST out of 200 marks. But, it is obvious if you become successful in attaining high marks, then there will be high chances of getting selected.

Fact: As it is clearly mentioned in SSC Syllabus that major questions are asked from GK section, not from Current Affairs. But along with History, Geography, Indian Polity, General Science & Economics, Current affairs also contribute 2-3 questions in the exam. So, Covering latest events  can give you 2-3 marks extra.
