The Scottish Bride by Marquita Valentine is a very fast paced love story of two people navigating and fighting for their love. Cadence & Maddox loved each other so fiercely and knew their love was it. Not wanting to any time, they got married right away. But when a tragedy hits and affects both their families, their love is tested. Will one of them be breaking their vows of for better or better for worse?
Overall, this book was a sweet, short, and light romance that was quite enjoyable.
'The Scottish Bride' by Marquita Valentine is Book Five in "The Brides of Holland Springs". This is the story of Cadence and Maddox. This is a Novella book that has about 75 pages. Short and sweet, this was a no-drama and sweet romance. Cadence has been in love with her older brother's best friend Maddox and finally he is reciprocating. They have a passionate and sweet love story with some major hiccups but cadence is a strong and brace girl to work her way through it. Maddox takes some time building up his courage but soon they are together happily ever after. *~*~*ARC generously provided by the author in exchange of an honest review *~*~*
As usual this short novella was everything you could want...even though I wanted to smack some senesce in both of them at times everything worked out perfectly. I loved the re-visit of some “old” characters and the fact that he waited so long to make her his...aaaa true love <3
Been a long wait for this bride but worth every second of it.
There are times Maddox is stupid, and then there are those times when he realizes his stupidity, "with a grin, he grabbed his wallet and keys before replying, “I’m going to Holland Springs to get my wife back.” I liked this book, it was a quick read.
This was a fast read and a lighthearted novella. It spans about half a year and I did enjoy it but some parts were a little slow. If your a fan of this author I think you will enjoy this novella.
This was a quick novella, with just a bit of drama (nothing to heavy). I love the way Ms Valentine ties her different series together and this one was no different.
Quick read. Took me a minute to realize that these were the kids of previous book characters. While their story was sweet, I would have liked a little more of their beginning.
Valentine has a talent for working characters from her other series into a new one. Each can be read without knowledge of the others as they stand alone. This one has Cadence Romanov and Maddox Stewart entangled in a secret marriage that isn't secure enough when tragedy strikes. For a couple so in love I didn't quite feel their spark or understand their pull to each other. I wanted more passion, maturity and trust. It's a quick story told over about six months and could be read in about an hour. My review was written voluntarily after reading an early copy.
I love love LOVE Marquita Valentine. Her Royals in Exile series is one of my favourite rom coms. To be honest I hadn't read any of her Brides of Holland Springs series until The Scottish Bride. I'm not sure why, but for some reason I had convinced myself that this was a historical romance— it's not. What it is, is a rather short and sweet novella. I thoroughly enjoyed it, it was a light read and the characters were great. I did feel that the character development needed a bit more beefing up, it was a very here and now attachment that I formed with Maddox and Cadence. I'm not saying that I didn't empathise with them, just that I would've loved more insight into them. However, again, this is a novella... it's understandable that the characters aren't super fleshed out. To put it in perspective— I read this book in a little over an hour, if that? It's about 70 pages long... so, you know that it's not going to go into the nitty gritty. Saying that I did get a sense of who the characters were.
Plot wise, I loved it. I though that it was very well developed. There is minimal drama due to the fact that it is a short story, but there is still great satisfaction in the conclusion. One thing I'm going to say... Finn deserved worse. #justsaying It is a very much wham bam thank you m'am experience, but I went in knowing that. To be honest it worked, there aren't any time discrepancies and can I just say that considering how short The Scottish Bride is, it is freaking hot! Look, my only complaint is that I could've had a full novel's worth, and even then I'd probably want more. I really loved Maddox and Cadence. I am now very much intrigued on Waverly and Jude... so, Ms. Valentine... if you please?
The Scottish Bride is book 5 in Marquita Valentine's The Brides of Holland Springs series. It is a short story that is about the children of two couples you have met in her Holland Springs series. Candace Romanov and Maddox Stewart are the ones featured in this short tale. Candace is the little sister to Maddox's best friend. When she turned 18, he became aware just how important she was to to him. He waited until the time was right to make her his. But when a fateful accident occurs, Maddox has no choice but to push her away. Will she do what it takes to get him back? Or will she be happier on her own.
I am a huge fan of Marquita Valentine. I love the world she created in Holland Springs. I also love how she intricately weaves multiple story lines throughout her books, stretching across all of her series. I will admit I wish this story had been longer. I never want to leave Holland Springs and was sad to only spend such a short time there in this story. I can't wait to read more from Marquita in the future.
All right The Scottish Bride is a very sweet, quick read. Yes, it's super quick about an hour read at most. Basically, this is years down the road cause Cadence is the daughter of Christian and Zoe, and Maddox is the son of Liam and Isabella from the Holland Spring books. Honestly, this isn't really that important if you haven't read any of Marquita other books, but information you might want to check out the other books. They have a secret romance, but catastrophe happens and they separate. Cadence decides she's going to fight for Maddox. That is basically it.
Again, The Scottish Bride is a sweet story. It probably could have been a full fledge novel, but it's a quick novella. It's basically something to give you a quick happy ending. So, if you are in need of something quick, short, and sweet, The Scottish Bride is your read.
This is a great short story in the Brides of Holland Springs series. Cadence Romanov has loved Maddox Stewart her whole life. He is her older brother's best friend. What her family doesn't know is that they have secretly gotten married. However when a night of celebration results in a life changing accident Maddox runs away leaving Cadence on her own. Maddox cannot live with the fact that he was the cause of his best friends life altering injury and runs away to New York where he finds work as a tattoo artist. Cadence gets tired of waiting and goes to convince her husband to come home. After their reunion Cadence goes back to Holland Springs. Will Maddox come to his senses and go after her? Or will their secrets and their past get in the way?
This is a great short story involving characters (and children of characters) we have grown to love in Marquita's other books. I really liked the tie in with Tammy Falkner's Reed Brothers series. Over all a great short read.
Marquita Valentine is not a new author to me, but the Brides of Holland Springs series is. The Scottish Bride is book 5 and I didn't feel as if I missed out on anything through out my read. I was able to connect with the characters and I will admit it does love me wanting to maybe visit Holland Springs and get to know the other characters better. This is a very fast read that has the sweetness of Cadence Romanov all over it, she's feisty and knows what she wants and is willing to fight for it. Rugby player Maddox Stewart knew he meet his future wife when he met his best friend's sister, he just had to be a patient man and he knew she was worth the wait. One reckless night ends in a nightmare and has Maddox running away from the woman he loves and believed to have hurt. Will the moment that Cadence confronts her husband Maddox have him facing what he left behind? This is a short, sweet, and with a sprinkle of sexy romantic read. 4 Stars
The Scottish Bride it the fifth book in The Brides of Holland Springs series by Marquita Valentine. I'm really enjoying this series! After a tragic accident Maddox Stewart leaves his home, job and wife Cadence Romanov and disappears. It takes months for Cadence to track him down in order to confront him, but seeing him again opens up all of the insecurities and wounds that Cadence thought she had hidden away. Having Cadence leaving the decision up to Maddox makes him confront his past and fears along with doing everything he possibly can to make up for all of the hurt he has caused her and hoping that he and his wife can move on and start their future together.
I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.
A romance about second chances, uncovering secrets, passion, and sweet, sexy times! The Scottish Bride is unlike any book I have read from Marquita Valentine. Its completely fresh, full of charm, unique with likable characters and a plot that is perfectly thick and pleasing to the reader. I loved every minute of this crazy ride!
The Scottish Bride is full of charm, even in the midst of so much secrets and the second chance romance. It is fun, sassy, sexy, sweet, tender with some mystery mixed in and a pleasant happily ever after.
The Scottish Bride gets a SINFULLY AMAZING FIVE SHOOTING STARS! Its a breath of fresh air in the romance genre!
This was a short novella and just enough to whet your appetite at the same time getting a glimpse at characters we came to know well and now are getting to know their children. Cadence Romanov is the youngest child of Christian and Zoe and she has been infatuated with Maddox Stewart since they were young. He is the youngest son of the Duke and Duchess and in line to the throne (no title). This was a short but satisfying story with wonderful characters. Maddox and Cadence have a secret marriage, misunderstanding, abandonment, and forgiveness all within a few wonderful chapters.
Cadance and Maddox's story was soooo well done by Marquita Valentine in The Scottish Bride!
I feel like overall as an author how Marquita is able to take these stories, that would usually sound so far fetched and unrealistic, and turns them into a fantastic story in a world you really want to be a part of.
The secrets come out in this book and seriously has you hooked from the get-go. Cadance and Maddox were so fun to ready, you were cheering for them the whole time! Loved this book and I definitely think you will to!
The Hollands Springs couples' kids are all grown up and falling in love.
Maddox Stewart and Candence Romanov fall in love. He has been waiting for her for three years but it takes one night to change everything. Maddox's guilt drives them apart can Candence's determination be able to bring them back together.
If you're looking for a quick read with romance some tragedy, snarky remarks, determination, and a happy ending I recommend this book.
The Scottish Bride is a short quick read that is fast paced about two people who are fighting to be together. But like all love stories something tries to separate them, keep them apart. Fate, however, has another ending for them. One that will challenge their love for one another but make them stronger in the end. Decisions are made, actions taken but together they change their destiny.
An adorable quick read from start to finish. Maddox finds the girl of his dreams in his best friends sister who is now all grown up. Cadence has loved Maddox most of her life and can't wait for him to be hers. But tragedy strikes and Maddox does the only thing he thinks he has to to protect her. Cadence is not willing to give up and fights for Maddox but she also makes him work for it in the end.
A quick read that makes you see how destiny will prevail even when others intervene.
A short novella about a girl and her brother's bestfriend. They got hitched and 2 weeks later, H and his bestfriends got into a car accident. Jude injured badly. H felt guilty because he thought he was the one driving. h came for him after he went under the radar. H tattooed her and they had a make up sex. h told H that Finn was the one driving not H. She left him a note telling H to came after her. So H went to get his wife back and got her parents approval. HEA

I loved this book! Maddox, has replaced Liam as my favorite Holland Springs guy and Cadence is sweet and a bit shy, but has a backbone and knows how to fight for her man! Only complaint: i wish it was longer, didn't want it to end! A great introduction to the next Holland Springs generation.
I like this author's trad published books but I have to stop reading her self-pubbed titles. They're always way shorter than I expect. Also, the editing is very poor with grammar mistakes all over the place. This book had a nice premise but I feel like all of the action happened off the page. Possibly in other books I haven't read? It confused me mightily.
Short and sweet, and to the point there was a no-drama with this read,it was just a great old sweet romance. This is girl meets boy, has crushed on him, until he was no longer there. Then they meet up again. I typically do not read shorter books, but I had to give this one a go. It is Novella length, but it is also rich with character development. If you are looking for a short sweet romance this book is for you.
