Xiamen: Amid the presence of a slew of world leaders at the BRICS Summit in China’s Xiamen, one Chinese journalist has grabbed quite a few headlines due to her love for India and Bollywood songs!

Tang Yungai, a reporter with the China Radio International, spoke to news agency ANI, saying that she loves India and has even studied Hindi at a university in China.

"As a Hindi learner, I would just like to say that I love India and I travel with many Indian people and after meeting so many Indian people I came to know that Indians are very honest and they are very good and that's why I love India so much," said Tang Yungai, in fluent Hindi.

Speaking on the Doklam tussle that gripped the two nations for almost two months, Yungai, who is also referred to as Sapna, said she believes the relationship between the two nations would get “better and thrive.”

"We shall wait and see what happens; both the President and the Prime Minister are going to have a talk soon,” she added.

Love for Indian cinema

While her views on Sino-India relations were gallant, one thing that caught the attention of the people at the ninth BRICS Summit is her proficient Hindi, love for Bollywood songs and actor Aamir Khan’s movie Dangal, which has garnered much appreciation in the neighbouring country.

"People in China watched the film 'Dangal' and loved it here. Aamir Khan's character was not handsome looking in the film, but the Chinese people still loved him,” she said.

She signed off singing an old Hindi classic ‘AA Ja re’  from the movie Noorie and folded her hands in ‘Namastey’, which is considered a formal way to greet people in India.

Meanwhile, the BRICS Summit is underway where a hardened stance on terrorism was a priority among all member nations, as per the BRICS Leaders Xiamen Declaration.

"We call for expeditious finalisation and adoption of the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism (CCIT) by the United Nations General Assembly," the BRICS said.

The grouping expressed concern over the security situation in the region and violence caused by the Taliban, ISIS, Al-Qaida and its affiliates including Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammad, and the Haqqani network.

While Chinese President Xi Jinping, in his opening address, stressed on striking a balance between the speed of growth and the quality of growth, Prime Minister PM Modi called for a greater cooperation between the BRICS member-nations for ensuring global stability and peace, in his address.
