Being bad never felt so good...

Everything in my office is off-limits. Making a charity calendar of the hot guys on your floor? Not allowed.

Shrinking your boss' underwear when he sends it for dry-cleaning? Can't do that either.

But those things keep the natural balance. See, Avery Banks, our resident rising star, is a shark.

The tall, blond, and gorgeous kind with zero patience and even less forgiveness.

Good thing I'm the Mae West of executive assistants. I live to put grown men in their place.

He wasn't supposed to find out.

Now he's made it his personal mission to screw me the way I screwed him.

OK. Not exactly the way I screwed him..

Avery's new game is hot. Messy. Twisted.

But he's my boss. And what we're doing is strictly NSFW.

Luckily, Avery and I have one thing in common.

We both suck at following the rules.

NSFW is a fresh, modern twist on office romance from bestselling author Piper Lawson.

Charlotte “Charlie” Merriweather, 24, has pulled one over on her boss one too many times. Avery Banks, 29, has had enough of his untamable assistant’s pranks.

I liked Charlie in the first book, Play, and I wasn’t disappointed here. She’s fun and has a devious desire to chip away at the patriarchal power house in the corporate office environment. I wasn’t too sure about Avery in the first book, but he totally won me over in this one. His cool, controlled, and reserved businessman aura falls away to reveal a dirty-talking hottie with a heart and integrity under the suit. The pair had chemistry, and I felt the sparks between them. They were hot together!

“I want to fuck you so fucking badly.”

There was good build-up both on the lust and love front. Their relationship plays out like a progression from misperceived abhorrence to attraction to love and the reader gets to experience each step.

“‘They can’t look into your eyes and know you need it slower even though you’re begging for faster. That you’re about to come. Can’t add a finger in just the right spot when you’re about to fall off the edge.’”

The character development is solid. I understood what drove both of them, what held them back, their weaknesses, and their strengths. There wasn’t any unnecessary drama; the story deals with the issues between their personalities after two years of working together yet never connecting till now.

The absence of OW/OM drama also helped to make the romantic vibe stronger, and undoubtedly sealed the swoon-worthy factor on Avery.

“I don’t believe in fucking one person when you’re thinking about someone else.”

I can’t applaud this sentiment enough. I’m pretty sure I’m not alone. Give this man an award. Better yet, clone him! There’s a distinct shortage in the romance market of heroes who can keep it in their pants. And the fact of the matter is, it’s so much hotter when they drop them for the heroine.

“‘Tonight, when my mouth is between your thighs, I look forward to hearing exactly what you want.’”

Told via Charlie’s first person POV (Avery gets a chapter in the epilogues), the overall tone is light-hearted and feel-good (floved the open mic stand-up show), with the exception of one somber episode.

Payton and Max from the first book make appearances and Riley gets his story in the next book.

If you like a quick and steamy enemies to lovers romance, with likeable characters, a shit ton of tension - all of that in an office setting - then you should definitely check this one out. Just like the preceeding novel, Play, for that matter.

Lawson always writes pretty cool female MCs, imo. Capable girls, who’ve got their shit together - and who are going to figure it out by themselves even if they don’t - who don’t need to rely on some guy to sweep in and save them.
Charlie was sassy, funny, self-confident, a bit of a hot mess but the type of girl you’d like to be friends with. I found the pranks she played in the beginning pretty hilarious (shrinking your boss’ shorts? Lol) but looking at it realistically, a real person would’ve lost their job PRONTO, probably with a lawsuit for harassment on top. And the stunt the girls pulled with those calendars they made, with pictures of male colleagues (Avery amongst them), stolen off their social media accounts, took things too far. Discrimination and objectification works both ways and cannot be justified by saying the girls have to deal with worse shit. Charlie does realize the error of her ways for the most part, though.
Still, as someone who’s working in a field mostly dominated by men herself, I felt like I could really relate to Charlie, and what she said about how things work for women in a competitive work environment really resonated with me. How she talked about the sausagefests, the politics, the old boys’ club and how having tits meant you started three lengths behind, had me nodding my head like one of those bobbleheads you put in your car.

Lawson not only writes stellar female leads, she also writes yummy love interests and hot AF sex scenes. Damn, that woman knows how to make your blood race. Kinky office sex? Yes please 😄
As for Avery, he was just how I like my love interests. Driven and focused, self-confident bordering on arrogant, closed-off, smart, HOT, and very good with his hands and other body parts *grins* Of course, he had a softer side, too, and learning about it was a fun experience.

I actually had a few scenes really tugging at my heartstrings, too, which surprised me, since I considered this a light read and didn’t expect to feel moved. It was mostly Charlie, because I liked that girl so damn much!

This was sexy, with the right amount of d’aaaaw moments - the inevitable conflict but otherwise very little drama - And. I. Loved. It.

My first book for 2018! Sooo... Our h is a sassy assistant in a bank who makes pranks with her boss thinking to even the scale a little bit. " My boss, ladies and gentlemen. The face an angel. The body of a god. The charm of venereal disease".

Our H is just okay for me. But he got points in my eyes when he says this "Because I don't believe in fucking one person when you're thinking about someone else". This line is for all those guys drowning themselves in women while professing to be in love with someone else. The Pricks!

As for the romance, hmmm....it was enemies to lovers but I just didn't feel the zing, you know. And the banter? It was so so for me. Must be the after effect of too much wine during the holidays. The sex was hot but I did not feel the love. The H is ambitious forsaking all others just to achieve his dream.

Overall, a good read just not that memorable :).

NSFW is enemies to lovers in an office setting, done well. Piper Lawson executes this trope with the electric pulse it needed to be brought back to life!

Charlotte/Charlie and Avery have worked together for the past couple of years. Him as the "boss" and her as the prank pulling assistant. There has always been a wall of animosity between them, but maybe that animosity is just hiding something else?

I honestly really enjoyed the tension between these two characters. It wasn't OTT, and it still managed to be interesting and fun. Piper Lawson has this way of making you fall in love with the couple even if their situation doesn't seem ideal. Their relationship is a bit taboo, but it's easy to ignore because of their banter and connection being so electric. This story isn't just about the love. It's also about Charlie and watching her grow from where she is in life. You also get to peel back Avery's layers with her which in turn allows us to see under her layers. He's more than just the uptight boss, and she's more than just the good time girl.

Fun extra, NSFW is based off of characters in Lawson's other book PLAY. The couple from that story makes appearances and we get updates on them, and they are so good! So if you haven't read PLAY and you're reading NSFW I'd put it on your TBR.

All in all this was a great read. There are hot naughty bits. A relationship filled with great banter and hot sexual tension. The side characters are interesting, and leave you asking for more. (COUGH - Riley - COUGH - Kenna - COUGH - Rose! I'm not greedy am I?) It's emotional and fun, a little bit of everything. If you like contemporary office romance, then you definitely need to give NSFW a try!

Turns out this book is like that Color Me Badd song. This was a fun read, Charlie is great and funny, Avery is, well, Avery (but that isn't a bad thing honestly).

I don't have that much to say about it, except that if you are looking for a steamy office romance then this might be right up your alley.

A soft 5 stars, maybe more like 4.75 stars.

This was a good book to end the year with. With all of the sexual harassment allegations in the work place in 2017, I was VERY nervous to read a romanticized version of it with absolutely no prior safety information. But the risk paid off! I ended up loving it.

My favorite character was the heroine- she's exactly the type of modern woman that I love reading about. She's self aware, has just as much sexual experience as the hero, and is confident in her job and her body. And she didn't trip over her vagina when the hero was around her.

I've said it before but I'll say it again- I LOVE a brooding and grumpy hero. They are my kryptonite and this hero fit that mold perfectly. His crush on the heroine was adorable and wholesome. Yes he was rude to her at points in the story but the heroine doesn't take any of his shit.

You know what else I loved about this book? The hero wasn't the CEO of the company, he wasn't a billionaire either, and he was only a few years older than the heroine. He was in a boss-type position with the heroine as his assistant but he wasn't the only guy in charge. I found it very refreshing. Not every hero needs to be a freaking "older alpha CEO billionaire blah blah blah."

Just wanted to thank the author for bringing some normalcy to her books.

Safety:
Very safe read, no major triggers for me.
Written only in the heroines perceptive.
No OW/OM drama at all. Hero gets jealous when he thinks another man is hitting on the heroine.
No cheating.
Hero wasn't a manwhore!!!!!!!!!!!!
Heroine had a miscarriage in a past relationship.
To the best of my knowledge, no other relationships after meeting each other 2 years prior. So celibate hero and heroine. The author leaves it very vague but the hero says, “Because I don’t believe in fucking one person when you’re thinking about someone else.” and he later says he had a crush on the heroine the moment they met.
A couple weeks separation and the hero comes back to grovel.
Cute epilogue with them 4 months out in the hero's perspective.

So heroine's been his assistant for two years. Character wise I'd describe her to be very sassy, modelesque, and her personality is what I would tag more suited "usually" to be marked as the crazy outgoing best friend of a heroine. She pushes his buttons constantly.

If you are an optimist, you can take his statement of "I don't screw one woman whilst thinking of another", as a mark of celibacy throughout the two years since they'd met. I personally don't believe he's had sex for a while, but I was unsure as to whether that extended right to when he met her especially since he's a stickler to the rules, so never had any intentions of ever going after her therefore it left me questioning why he would be celibate? If you know what I mean. However I am a pessimist, so that's just a me problem.

On a whole, it was a decent read. He very much had a flaw of prioritising work over anything and everything except for his nineteen year sister who he takes guardianship of. That's due to his own desire to advance in the field, and work his way up leading to him compromising her feelings and disregarding her dreams in the process. I would have preferred some more grovel, and working to get her back. I think authors underestimate how attractive grovelling is. I don't actually like one speech resolving everything after weeks of separation. I do like my hero's to work themselves back into my good graces and shed a few tears when they feel genuine fear as to whether or not they will lose "the one". I'm a sucker for that. But, nonetheless a decent read.

It was a good book, the heroine wasn't a doormat - the author kept her promise. As to the hero being not an asshat... well, I wouldn't call him an asshat, but he wasn't a good hero either. Of course in my opinion.

I work for a big company and maybe that's why office romances are not my favorite trope, especially when they write 'funny' pranks at work. Not that an office life is a boring one, but there are still some boarders you don't cross. So, the heroine's behavior was way too childish. She was sassy, yes, but some of her pranks were a bit too much.

As to the romantic part - I had a feeling the heroine invested more in their relationship than he. Not that she chased him, but very close. He wasn't a bad guy, but he behaved as an offended schoolboy in his puberty. She was the one to ask for forgiveness (for her prank), she was the one, who took him back without any groveling. Ugh! It's not that a woman can't  be a fighter in a relationship, but I need a man to do the main chasing.

The book was safe, though I'm not 100% sure he was celibate after meeting her. I guess he was, but even if not, it wouldn't bother me... mostly because I felt nothing for and about him.

I will definitely check other books by this author. If an author writes her heroines as not doormat characters, I'm in! 😉

'NSFW' by Piper Lawson is the story of Charlotte and Avery.
Avery is the boss and Charlotte is the assistant so this is a work related love story.
It was a fun filled batter with some hot tension between the two of them.
There is also of course their underline story of who they are and how they got to this point in their lives.
Enjoyed reading their story!

Charlie is the queen of snarky executive assistants and her job is to make her her boss, Avery Banks, gets to meetings on time, his dry cleaning is picked up, he sends anniversary gifts to clients and anything else he needs handled. She does everything behind the scenes and no matter what she does, her boss hates her. He fires her but then rehires her to take care of an important client gala. It's only temporary but their sizzling chemistry explodes one evening. Charlie, who thought she knew everything there was to know about Avery, is suddenly very turned on by her stuffy boss. They share a kiss (and so much more) and as the gala gets closer, both will have to guard their hearts because this relationship is definitely NSFW (Not Suitable For Work).

Normally, I don't care for enemies to lovers romances because the back-biting hatred for one another gets in the way of my enjoyment of the budding romance. In NSFW, Piper Lawson takes a different approach which I totally LOVED! She flips the script and it's irresistible. Avery and Charlie are strong characters with a large amount of baggage but by talking it out, they somehow help each other deal with the baggage all while having incredible hot and sweaty sex. There's plenty of drama in NSFW for all those drama lovers.

If you love steamy romance with plenty of humorous dialogue and sizzling tension, you'll love NSFW!

This is one of the hottest books I have ever read. It's certainly the best office romance I have ever read. These characters are portrayed like real employees doing actual work, and that makes them more real. In most other office romance books I've read, the office is just a backdrop and the boss's desk is just a prop for sexcapades. I rarely get invested in the characters of those novels because they are interchangeable with any other boss and employee from other books. Not so with Charlotte and Avery. I was riveted by the dynamic between these two. Charlotte is sassy and smart with a vibrant, fun-loving nature. Avery is an arrogant hard-ass who is smart and ambitious and cuts Charlotte no slack. She retaliates by playing pranks on him and secretly undermining his authority. I got a total kick out of her, and I looked forward to Avery's reactions.

Once he reached his limit with her, the sexual tension between them started building in direct proportion to the work tension and stress. It was incredibly exciting anticipating when it was all going to boil over. And wow did it ever! The scorching hot sex scenes deliver on all the build up to them. They also feel specific to these characters and their personalities, and that is something very rare in romance novels. The market is saturated with sex scenes these days. How many are memorable enough to stick out in your mind from the rest? Can you also recall the characters involved? This book is one of the few that I'll remember and reread.

~NSFW is now available on Amazon and in KU!~

Watching Avery Banks run a meeting was like porn.

His clipped tone. The impatient tap of his pen on the table. The way he’d shove his chair back when it took too long to get an answer.

It should’ve been unattractive.

It was a damned ballet.

The world premiere of 'ten reasons I want to f*ck my boss.'

His mouth.

His hands.

His voice.

His gaze.

His body…

I received a copy and voluntarily left a review.

There hasn't been a book by Piper Lawson that hasn't practically incinerated my kindle and left me with dreamy eyes over her newest fictional couple. Although Dylan and Alexis from Schooled will always be my favorite go to couple, Piper never fails to illicit a strong emotional response and bring her readers something new and fresh with each book whether it is part of a continued series or a story with characters we have never met before. This time Piper has outdone herself on the searing heat that accompanies Charlotte and Avery and all of the emotions and desires that come pouring out of them whenever they are in each other's company.

Charlotte Merriweather is a chick that positively rocks! I couldn't help but fall in love with this kick ass heroine! Can you tell that I have a bit of a girl crush? Let me take a minute to compose myself and my thoughts and I will tell you a little about her and what is so fabulous about Charlie. She is fearless, stylish, unapologetic for who she is and she loves to spend time with her grandmother reminiscing and doing the fox trot...what's not to love? I hope to exhibit even a fraction of her bravery that she shows in her story in my everyday life.

Avery Banks charmed me even when his story first starts and he is all buttoned up, easily angered, and strictly business. I just knew not only was there a hot guy underneath that suit but there was also a man who needed a little Charlie in his life, to loosen him up and rock his world. What I didn't figure on was him completely devastating mine with his debonair good looks and his take charge ways in the bedroom. I was a puddle of goo by the end!

Piper Lawson delivers another scorching, toe curling, gotta have it read that is sure to satisfy all of her loyal fans and create many more! Charlotte and Avery are like a decadent dessert creating moans and murmurs of delight and are sinful from beginning to end! Piper became one of my favorite authors the minute I opened her first book Schooled and has continued to entice and tantalize with each new one. NSFW is for sure a must read and Piper is a go to author for any romance reader who loves hot stories with sassy heroines and smooth talking heroes!

What's better than finding a great enemies/boss-employee to lovers story? Not much, me thinks.

This was a total winner. And it's coming from an author whom I haven't read yet, so it's a win-win! Love discovering great authors. Piper's quick wit and engaging characters had me hooked from page one with NSFW. Now I need to read book one. Shame on me for missing out.

Though this is part of a series, it can be read alone if this blurb jumps out at you like it did for me.

These two -- what can I say? We enter the story with them at each other's throats, well at least Charlotte definitely despised Avery. And we got a good look into her "pranks" against him as the entire book, except the epilogue, was told in her POV.

The set up is that she's his assistant, competent but just about done with his attitude. ESPECIALLY done with him when he delivers the news that he's firing her. All she has to do until her time is up with the company is make him look good for a promotion and set up the company gala without a hitch. And ignore this building tension between the two of them.

It's really two years in the making, and fortunately we don't have to wade through years of their antics to get to the good part. From page one, the simmering sexual attraction snaps.

If you're expecting a growly, dominant suit out of Avery, congrats! You're right. And it is SO satisfying to read.

Like most stories with this plot, neither of them are looking for a relationship or anything lasting. But as the days go by, they realize that their connection doesn't just extend to the bedroom.

There are definitely bits that tug at your heartstrings. For sure parts that make your lady bits sit up and listen. All around, I loved this story. Can't wait to dive into her other stuff.

Five Amazing Stars! Charlotte (Charlie) is a beautiful, spunky, woman and the office prankster. Charlie loves to play pranks on her boss Avery because he is very serious and she is attracted to him. Avery is devoted to two things in his life: work and his sister and he does not have time for relationships. Avery and Charlie put each other through the wringer and they both will not go down without a fight. Will Avery and Charlie be able to put their pasts behind them and find happiness together? I thoroughly enjoyed this fun story. I found that the author wrote a well-written story that I was laughing along with the characters throughout the book. I found that the characters had great chemistry and I enjoyed their constant bantering. I was engaged from the first chapter and could not put this book down until I finished it. I have read books by Ms. Lawson in the past and will continue to look for more books in the future! This is a fun, sexy, and all around great romantic story. I highly recommend this story!

This is the second book the Play series by Piper Lawson and I really enjoyed this story as much as the first. This is a enemies to lovers’ set in the office and is such a great read. You first met Charlie and Avery in Play and it was nice for them to have their own story. Everything about this story was wonderful. The characters, the story, twist and turns, and the heat. The heat between Charlie and Avery was enough to burn my Kindle. You won’t be disappointed in picking up this story. I can’t wait to read what is coming up next in this series and more.

NSFW by Piper Lawson
Proceed with caution.  Ms. Lawson knows what it means to deliver the burn.  Just ask Avery and Charlie.  NSFW is deliciously naughty with it's tempting battle of the sexes and it's hilariously entertaining characters.  War is on the agenda.  The winner is anyone guess, but the battle is as seductive as it gets.

This book is HOT!!!

And I got the BIGGEST kick out of Charlie. I mean, I haven't enjoyed (or lived vicariously through) a heroine this much in a while. She sure had some cojones, and was an absolute riot to read!

But Piper did a FANTASTIC job of building up the attraction between Charlie and Avery. These enemies-to-lovers were put in some close-quarters situations, and holy moly, did the sparks fly!

The story was woven beautifully and the tit-for-tat between Charlie and Avery was peppered throughout in perfect installments. As was the heat. As was the humor. I just LOVED this story!

Oooh! This was so cute!!! I think this is my 6th book by Piper Lawson and as it was expected it was so good! My favorite book by her was PLAY. I loved Max and Payton, mas I remember that I also loved Charlie 'cause she was so funny and unique. Imagine how happy I was when I found out she would have her own book.

It was so good to know more of Charlie. I loved her even more. She was so strong and peculiar, but in a way that draw us to her. I loved how funny she was without being forced. She was that kind of person I would love to have as a friend.

And Avery... oh god! Avery! Even at the beginning, when he wasn't as pleasant I did like him. I felt he wasn't a bad guy. We could hear loud and clear that he liked Charlie more than she knew.

NSFW was a lovely, hot, cute, fun read. I really recommend it.

Oooh!

Recomendo demais.

Very tricky plotline...

The heroine played pranks on her boss. And that can play out both ways...

She is either seen as an unprofessional, conceited and high and mighty lass who doesn't know what consequences her actions may have on the business as a whole and not only on the guy she wants revenge on OR not. ;-)
What I mean is, her actions are either fun (unlikely as it IS a bank and therefore heavily relies in word of mouth) or well, not.
Anyways, what bothered me was that she really seemed to not have any clue that her actions may reflect badly on the bank she works for and herself, of course. And that made her seem immature and conceited as she apparently didn't care about what losing clients would mean for the bank and her colleagues.

Anyways, besides that, can't say I disliked the MCs. In fact, I thought the heroine was a pretty awesome chick who didn't let anyone get in her way.
The Hero seemed like an asshole in the previous novel and to some extent, I still thought he was one. Why? Cause the way women are treated in this hell hole they call workplace is disgusting. Payton was overlooked and I don't get why Avery didn't even think about her. Promotion here, promotion there, He only had eyes for it and didn't care why he was promoted and not a woman who was more successful than him.

Anyways, (again ;-) I liked them as a couple. Found it good that they had to work through their own issues to be with each other ...

Writing Style?
Adored the first chapters as we could see the sassy side of our heroine. The following chapters weren't as good or as fun but they were good nonetheless.
Hardly any mistakes.

Not a fan of the whole single POV thingy. We only get the heroine's POV and I needed to read about the hero's thoughts. But that didn't happen until the last chapter... Not enough for me. Usually. It was okay with this one as the MCs Tag (yayy) and so we so get to know about him and his feelings etc.

Plot?
As mentioned above, not a plot for everyone.

Ending?
Refreshing. Love the way both MCs get their heads out of their behinds.

**I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest voluntary review. All opinions are my own and not influenced by my source.**

I was super excited to get Charlotte's story after she charmed me completely in Play and this did not disappoint!

The chemistry between these two is palpable from the start and had me swooning throughout. I love the whole "hate to love you" vibes these two had and seeing that evolve into something more. Their banter always put a smile on my face and was part of the reason I finished this book in one sitting.

However, the highlight for me was the character development. Charlie is a little lost in everything in her life and I think that makes her super relateable as a character. She feels like her career is at a standstill, her family dynamic has evolved, she's got some things from the past she needs to move on from and her romantic relationship leaves something to be desired. She deals with a lot and it rounds out her character nicely.

But I also want to give props to Avery too! Despite the fact that he doesn't have a POV, he has a significant amount of growth as a character. I liked that he wasn't this "perfect" hero that Charlie could only be with once she established herself. Rather, they both had things they had to work on individually before they could even fathom a relationship together.

I had high hopes for this novel and Piper definitely delivered! She brought these charming characters to life once again and created a story that was entertaining from start to finish!

A lovely, sexy, forbidden, enemies to lovers romance following Charlotte Merriweather as she relays her relationship with her boss Avery Banks, an executive banker who follows the rules and has zero sense of humour. Charlie though, is a bit of a prankster and after 2 years she's finally been caught in the act so to speak. The day that Avery fires Charlie is the day that their journey begins. It's also the day that Charlie comes into her own and faces her challenges head on. I loved Charlie, she had spark and she had sass, she didn't take any of the macho old school, man's world bull that the bank seem to live by, she fought for the women to be equal and she worked hard to ensure that all the staff were acknowledged for their successes. In fact even with her prankster ways her work ethics are impressive. I loved her. Avery is a super hot sexy alpha male, he's also the epitome of successful and professional, until he lets his feelings for Charlie take over. A completely sexy, funny and addictive read. I loved it. I received an advanced copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Ok, so we got a glimpse of Charlie and Avery through Payton and Max’s story in PLAY and I immediately knew I wanted to read more about these characters. I’m so happy the reading gods heard my wish because Piper did not fail to deliver. This is not your typical hate turn to love story because the characters didn’t really hate each other...more like they subconsciously wanted to get noticed by the other but didn’t know how to go about doing it. The things they do and say to each other sometimes make you cringe, sometimes make you laugh, and sometimes make your heart melt. As the story progresses you find yourself rooting for these characters and hoping that they make it. Her sassiness should , drive, and sometimes quirkiness break down his dominant, serious, cold facade and they compliment each other so well. Piper manages to keep you on the edge of your seat because you feel like shit is about to hit the fan, but you have to trust that she’s going to lead these characters to where they need to be. I couldn’t stop reading because I kept wanting to know what would happen next up until the very end. I can honestly say I was not disappointed.
