Kristen Ashley

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA. She nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn't taken her first breath!).

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.

Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

As I write this review, I’m wearing grey yoga pants. Well, they’re a darker grey on the outside and a much softer, lighter grey on the inside. They have a white drawstring, and while it’s not really necessary to tie it, I have it tied in a bow anyway. They’re really soft and comfortable, and they’re the kind of pants you could wear just around the house. But if you wanted, you could also wear them out to the grocery store or the mall or the gym or basically anywhere that wasn’t too dressy.

I’m also wearing a pink and white cotton henley. It has small stripes, not the big fat ones. And they’re horizontal and not vertical. The shirt also has ruffles at the neck along with four white buttons. It has long sleeves that go just to my wrists. I hate sleeves that hang over my hands unless it’s like a fleece hoodie and I’m outside and my hands are cold. Then I like it when the sleeves hang over my hands.

My bra is a beige and cotton, but it’s not really a basic bra. It’s a balconette bra with just a little light padding in the bottom of the cups. I generally need a padded bra because my boobs are definitely on the larger side and I need the extra support. And I also need the padding because it’s cold out right now and when it gets this cold, my nipples get hard and show through my shirt. And my panties are also beige, but they’re not cotton. They’re that microfiber kind that looks seamless under your pants. And since my yoga pants are kind of thin, I don’t want a VPL. For those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s a visible panty line.

Anyway, I think I look pretty cute for a Saturday where I’m just hanging out at home and catching up on a few things.

If you liked the detailed description of what I’m wearing, Motorcycle Man is definitely the book for you. In fact, I’m pretty sure that more than a quarter of the book could have been edited out because it’s full of endless paragraphs detailing stupid shit like what the heroine is wearing or what they cooked and ate for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Also, if you don’t have any attachments to correct grammar and punctuation, this could also be the book for you. Honestly, I think that Kristen Ashley just throws commas in sentences randomly because she’s unsure where they truly go. And she obviously doesn’t have an editor. And if she does have an editor, that person should be fired immediately for incompetence.

I know it seems like I’m nit-picking a lot of things here, but come on… I expected more than this form a book that rated in the high fours on Amazon and goodreads.

I will talk about the story, though.

Kane “Tack” Allen is our hero. If you want to call him that. I’m personally going to call him a sexist, misogynistic, abusive asshole. He is one of many “heroes” in this new trend where authors try to pass abuse off as sexy.

You know what’s sexy? A man who views a woman as his equal and treats her as such. A man who thinks that, in spite of her vagina, she has valid ideas, thoughts, and opinions.

You know what’s not sexy? A man who tells a woman that there are some things she's just going to have accept, and some things she just doesn't get to know or have an opinion about because she's a woman. That infidelity happens and you just need to let it go because it’s none of your business, and this is just the way it is in his world.

Well, fuck that.

And fuck him.

Because we all live in the same world, asshole.

Ugh.

Here’s another thing: Tack has a tendency to grab the heroine, Tyra, around the neck and push her up against walls. Now, grabbing someone’s neck when they’ve give you permission to do so because they find it sexy is one thing, but doing it while the woman is basically crying and cowering and asking him to stop is altogether something different. You know what they call that? Assault. And the author tries to explain this behavior away by having Tack tell Tyra he’s doing it because he wants to "feel her pulse." Because he’s so overwhelmed with the need to know she’s okay and breathing with a beating heart.

Umm…

You know how you can tell if a woman is breathing and her heart is beating? You fucking ask her. If she's standing up and talking, she's probably breathing just fine.

This behavior is not sexy, ladies. This behavior, and our acceptance of it, is what has led to the rape-culture we are currently dealing with as a society.

I love a dominating alpha hero. They are my favorite. But everything needs to be consensual. No means no. There are some authors who understand this and write alpha males I totally dig, and totally want to bang. Unfortunately, Kristen Ashley misses the mark on this.

Motorcycle Man was not for me.

”Life’s a roller coaster. Best damn ride in the park. You don’t close your eyes, hold on and wait for it to be over, babe. You keep your eyes open, lift your hands straight up in the air and enjoy the ride for as long as it lasts.”

Holy smokes! *kissing my Kindle…again* Fan-freakin-tastic!
Tack sure gave Tate a run for his money! God, the man has a way to lay it all out…he is incredibly swoonalicious and hawt as all get out! Yeah, handsome, I’m kissing you from head to toes. Well, sometimes you’re a jerk. But you’re my wonderful jerk and I wouldn’t expect anything less from a man like you. That said, Tack made it all up to me when the scary biker dude who is full of his very own brand of badassness reveals his super gentle, sweet and kind side. I adore it when his eyes get so soft and warm. Imagine, he even loves to cuddle with his old lady. *Le sigh* Yeah, Tack shines—sweet, scary biker sunbeams, ladies! The dialogue they’re dishing out at each other is A.W.E.S.O.M.E.!! They sure gave one another a piece of their minds on a regular basis. I cannot count how many great quotes I found in this book. Too many…Well, I think most of the readers will experience a collective delirium of joy while reading MM. I adored the pulse thingie—it was super cute and so thoughtful, Tack!

Even though I don’t want to complain I felt that Tyra is saying “we’re over” a little too often. Every time they hit a rough patch, she gives up and declares that she wants out. Too easy, my lovely! It’s good to know that Tack didn’t let her walk out on him though. Gosh, the woman is throwing sass! Come to think of it, both of them have a serious case of attitude. Tack brought so much color, passion and love into Tyra's life that after tasting something very special, she didn't want to settle for anything less, not anything less than perfect.

”The ride is not over but if I can keep my Club together and find a sweet, feisty woman who’s got my back and enough to her that she’ll stay there, holding me up not dragging me down, I figure I’d find my way to beauty eventually. And I’d find absolution because I’d know, I earned the love of that woman, a woman who’s got so much to her it’ll take years to dig down and find the heart of her, that would be my reward.”

MM starts off with Tyra Masters having "found" the right guy. He was the one. The motorcycle man in bed with her was the man of her dreams. Living, breathing, gorgeous, tattooed, gravelly-voiced, great with his hands, mouth and other parts of his spectacular anatomy proof that she was absolutely right. BTW, I added the word "spectacular" myself. *wiggling eyebrows* Usually Tyra doesn't jump into bed with men she barely knew. Well, a little surprise lies ahead of you, my dear.

"Close the door on your way out, would you, Red?"

Tyra is 35, well organized, sensible and loves to drink rejuvenating green tea. Her life is about to get a bit messy when she starts a new job as an office manager. Ride Custom Bars and Bikes is Tyra's new place of employment. Chaos Motorcycle Club is the owner of the very famous garage, and Tack (Kane) Allen is the president of CMC and Tyra's new boss all at the same time. Why oh why did I get this feeling…been there, done that when the scary biker dude said such "nice" things to Tyra:

"I do not work with bitches who've had my dick in their mouth."
(…) "I do not fuck anyone who's got my signature on their paycheck."
(…) "Darlin' you're the greediest piece of ass I've had in my bed in a long fuckin' time. I got a taste for greedy, you think I'm not gonna take it?

Ah yes, it dawns on me…a certain...Tate…Jackson…Sweet Dreams?

Boy, they gave one another lip. I loved Tack’s sexy as hell grin! Scary Tack gave her a fair warning and when he wants something he gets it. Game on!

"Red," he said softly. "You entered the game, it's my game, babe, you play it my way."

YOWZA!

Kristen's stories are such an indulgence, and you don't indulge every day. If you did, it wouldn't be an indulgence anymore. It's like expensive chocolate that's melting on your tongue. I don't eat it every day either.

The epilogue

One word: epic

”Truth, honesty, perseverance, strength, love of all kinds and forgiveness are all beautiful, Tack. The most beautiful stories ever told are the most difficult to take.”

P.S.
Tabby and Shy’s story will be told! Wooohooo! I’m sooo excited! Thank you, Kristen! *smooches* my lovely!

P.P.S.
I'm sorry, Tack, but Tate stays above and beyond. You did not knock him off his pedestal.

5 STARS!!!

Wow! What a fantastic ending to a fabulous book and series!

I just finished this story, have tears in my eyes, and I'm not able to wait until tomorrow (when I return home) to write my review. I wish I had the time and money (dang cruise ship wi-fi charges) to write the review this book deserves. Unfortunately, I don't. However, I can express my love for this story, it's amazing characters, and it's fantastic epilogue. Tack and Tyra are my favorite couple in this series, and I loved their arduous yet heartwarming romance.

This is my favorite conversation between Tack and Tyra. It's just so them. It's priceless.

"It goes like this," I began to explain. "We get to know each other. We have a huge-ass wedding. We spend time just us and, um... Tab and Rush, of course. Then we start on a family."
"Got it all scheduled," he noted.
   "Yes," I retuned.
   "What's a huge-ass wedding?"
"Don't ask that," I advised. "Just show up."
His grin turned wicked and I liked it. That was, I liked it until he enquired, "You askin' me to marry you, Red?"
I wasn't even sipping coffee and, still,  I choked.
   Then I pushed out, "What?"
   "I accept"
I shook my head and kept shaking it when I requested clarification, "Let me get this straight. Did you just accept my non-marriage offer?"
   "Non-marriage?"
"I didn't ask!" My voice was rising.
"So you just wanna shack up?" he asked but didn't wait on my answer. "I'm good with that too."
  Gah!
   "I'm getting my huge-ass wedding," I declared.
"So you are askin' me to marry you," he noted.
   Gah! Gah! Gah!
   Sharp as a tack.

Note: A special shout-out to Michele. Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and generosity. You made my trip even better!

5 Hawt and Handsome Tack Stars

 photo 123b2f7e-cb78-4a11-bd8c-0e04d6479c0a_zpsb2797691.jpg

If you have read K.A’s Mystery Man, you know Tack. Kane ‘Tack’ Allen is a bad ass bossy biker. President of the MC Chaos. If you are like me, you fell for him in Mystery Man and wanted more. This is Tack’s story.

It all starts one night at the club. He meets a girl. Red.
 photo e96bd30a-d3bc-4dc0-a3d6-06079aa9c38f_zpsd1d7f6d6.jpg

Red (aka Tyra) is not the typical girl Tack ‘sees’. He doesn’t know she is different at the time, but he finds out pretty quickly. After one night together, Tyra leaves Tack’s bed. What Tack doesn’t know is Tyra just got a new job working at the shop Tack owns. He tries to talk her into quitting, but she refuses. Tack doesn’t sleep with people he works with. She is persistent on staying and never sleeping with him again.

Tyra is thirty five years old, single- never been married. There is only one reason why. She is holding out for her Dream Man.
 photo waiting-on-my-prince-charming_zps896466b9.png

Tack is not your typical Prince Charming. He has tattoos, rides a harley, has a crazy ass ex wife and two awesome kids. But Tyra just knows from the beginning he is it. She tries to fight it, but its no use.
“The perfect I was looking for wasn’t perfection. The perfect I was looking for was the one. And he was you.”

She knows Tack is the one for her because of one thing he does for her that no one else has been able to do.
 photo c4f6447c-b538-41a5-88c7-2f52833ddf55_zpse8c307e6.jpg
“I like everything about you, honey. Lived in black and white seems like all my life. Never noticed. Not until you colored my world.”

Tyra and Tack have a bumpy road. The more Tyra is around Tack, the more she starts to doubt their relationship. But after a while, Tack has his mind up about Tyra. And once he has made up his mind, there is no changing it. Tack sees the sweet side of Tyra, how good she is with his kids, how cute she is when she gets pissed at him. He starts to fall for her. Even though Tyra is trying to deny her feelings for Tack, its no use.

In the end- Tyra teaches Tack a few things...
Truth, honesty, perseverance, strength, love of all kinds and forgiveness are all beautiful, Tack. The most beautiful stories ever told are the most difficult to take.

And Tack teaches Tyra a few things...
 photo 0f1f4f4b-bca8-4ec8-9597-57841fdf83ed_zpse37adb43.jpg
“Babe, advice. A man expresses his gratitude, you do not throw attitude. You kiss him and, maybe, suck his dick to show your appreciation.”

They see the best in each other. I love it!
“Every day somethin' new. Will I ever get to the heart of you?”

“I’m not your absolution, honey. You earned it before you met me.”

“You’re my reward.”

God this book was FANTASTIC! A little action, a little romance, a little funny, and A LOT of sexy= my kinda book! I love Tack even more then I did in Mystery Man. He is so great! Kristen Ashley writes the best alpha males. I loved Tack’s bossy attitude, tattoos, how he loved his kids, how incredibly sweet he could be and how freaking HOT he is! Oh yeah.. I liked Tyra too. There is nothing like a KA epilogue. This one was perfect. A book I will definitely be re-reading in the future! SO looking forward to Tabby and Shy’s book!

“Truth, honesty, perseverance, strength, love of all kinds and forgiveness are all beautiful, Tack. The most beautiful stories ever told are the most difficult to take.”
You should probably just go buy the book and read it instead of wasting your time reading this review, because I really don’t know how to express what I am feeling about this story or the man, Kane “Tack” Allen. I was left deeply, completely, emotionally sated… and yet empty, too, because once it ended… I was lost. I was just… lost.

And, you know, I actually cried because it ended. Not because of the ending, even though it was incredibly emotional. I didn’t cry because the book was too short, even though it was, but had it been 1,000,003 pages it still would have been too short. The tears were not because it was sad, though there were some heartbreaking scenes and I did cry for those, and tears of joy for the happy scenes, too… but honest to God, I cried because it was over. Because there was no more… I don’t think that’s ever happened to me before.

*sigh*

Okay, about Tack and Tyra -

Tyra is awesome. Just awesome. She's fun, strong, independent, loving, compassionate. She's kick-ass, take no prisoners, protective and .... yeah, awesome. The perfect heroine for a bad-ass biker dude.

And speaking of bad-ass biker dudes... this story is loaded with them, from start to finish, but since this is Tack's story...

Tack is obnoxious, intense, crass, rude, brutal, harsh, foul mouthed and short tempered, arrogant… and even though he’s all those things, he’s also honorable, loving, compassionate, determined, sex in the flesh, funny, easy going, understanding… Sure, he’s done some shitty things but he’s also this man:
“Okay,” I said softly. “So this was why I got all those ‘laters’? Because you weren’t fired up to share all of this?”

“This was why,” he confirmed.

I pulled in breath through my nose.

Before I could process any of what he said much less come to terms with it, Tack stated, “Love and redemption.”

My head tipped on the pillow. “What?”

“That movie you made me watch, first time at your house. Love and redemption. You said, ‘the most beautiful stories ever told are the most difficult to take’. You said that, Red. Right out. And I knew if you got that, when it was later and I shared my shit with you, you’d get me. I never thought my story was beautiful. I thought it was shit. But you said that and when you did, I saw it. The ride is not over but if I can keep my Club together and find a sweet, feisty woman who’s got my back and enough to her that she’ll stay there, holding me up not dragging me down, I figure I’d find my way to beauty eventually. And I’d find absolution because I’d know, I earned the love of that woman, a woman who’s got so much to her it’ll take years to dig down and find the heart of her, that would be my reward.”
And it's this vulnerability, his understanding of not just who is he, but who he wants to be...this is why I love Tack and this story, and why he’s become my favorite Kristen Ashley hero, and why you need to get this book, read this book then pimp this book to everyone you know! Now.

My favorite of the Dream Man series! Tack also shares the title with Tate as the greatest KA hero ever! LOVE this book. One of my most re-read!

SIDE NOTE:I just re-read Motorcycle Man for the one billionth time, and this is actually the FIRST time I realized that the whole "BeBe" thing really didn't make any sense in regard to Tack's character. Like, I don't see him actually spending an entire night with her. Walking her to her car, and making out with her like she was some classy woman when she was basically the club mattress! It just doesn't really fit with his character in my opinion. Things that make you go Hmmm...*lol*

Re-Read January 2016

Tack..sigh...I still love you. You and Tate will forever hold top place in the KA hero awards!

P.S This cover looks nothing like Tack, where the hell is the goatee!! Grumble...

Re-Read April 2017 (15 times now) Still adore this one. Still laugh, Still smile and I STILL cry like a baby EVER time I read it!

“Life's a roller coaster. Best damn ride in the park. You don't close your eyes, hold on and wait for it to be over, babe. You keep your eyes open, lift your hands straight up in the air and enjoy the ride for as long as it lasts.”

All is right in the world again. After being more than a little disappointed by Law Man I was almost losing faith in Ms. Ashley for a second, but don’t fear my gently review readers, she hit it out of the park with this one. Uber sexy biker bad boy, feisty heroine, excellent chemistry, a little action and major swoon fest. I’m yet again in my KA wonderland bubble.

Motorcycle Man is the fourth and last instalment in the Dream Man series and at last we get to enjoy Tack's story. Over the course of the series we have seen a lot of the notorious Chaos MC president. We first met him as the mysterious and smoking hot biker who had a little standoff with Hawk and Lawson regarding Gwen’s heart...and we all know who won that fight. *sigh*Hawk*sigh* But I digress, he slowly but surely became a household name in the subsequent books, helping out in precarious situations and having his hands in all kinds of dangerous dealings. To say I was curious to see where his story would lead was the understatement of the century. Especially since everyone told me his was the book to read. Well, I can second that. Fan-freaking-tastic ride.

Let's talk story.

“I’m Chaos?”
“Was my dick just in you?”
I fought an annoyed growl and said, “Uh... yeah.”
“Then you’re Chaos.”

Tack and Tyra’s story starts with a bang. Pun intended. Yes, you should take that literally. Tyra attends one of the Chaos MC’s parties and the moment she lays eyes on Tack she is a gonner. Over tequila and roast pork sandwiches she falls in love and eventually into bed with him. One hot hook-up and in the end he tells her to leave. Slam, bam, thank you ma’am.

That’s where the real problem starts. She is not only crushed by his less than cavalier behaviour (biker, anyone?) but there is also the minor issue of her being the garage’s new office manager. Yup, fucking the boss always ends well.

What can I say? I freaking love this set-up. It might sound instalove-ish, but don’t worry his actions have quite the opposite effect on Tyra. But regardless she needs the job and when they meet again the next day she fights for it too. What ensues is a delicious battle of wills. Tack is used to getting respect and talkback is not usual for him, but the moment the sassy redhead gets in his face he starts to get a little more interested in the woman - in addition to wanting her naked on the office desk.

I absolutely adored Tyra. She doesn’t cave in and bends herself to fit into Tack’s world without getting something from him in return. She is not accustomed to the MC life. For all intents and purposes two worlds are clashing together here. She wears fancy pencil skirts and high heels and he is a rough biker, but they sure know how to make it work. I actually think when it comes to the Dream Man heroines Tyra wins the competition by a mile. She is feisty, outspoken, can handle herself and knows what she wants. Or she knew it until she met a kick-ass biker and learned the hard way that life can be colourful and being a biker babe is pretty darn cool, drama notwithstanding.

Drama being a crazy ex-wife, the russian mob, teenagers in the house and McGyvering with Aunt Bette. The latter quite possibly qualifying as one of my favourite things in the whole damn book. I need me an Aunt like that.

“The most beautiful stories ever told are the most difficult to take.”

What can I say about Tack? Well, you have to meet him. He actually manages to stand out in a long line of alpha- male-dream-men. Not an easy task. He is a bit stoic, a whole lot in control, naughty and more than a little secretive. Naturally he has a heart of gold and once you peel back the layers and get to the history, what brought him here, he becomes one of those unforgettable book boyfriends.

I'm both a KA fan and a lover of MC books, but up until now I wasn't sure if the two together would make such a good combination. Well, now I know they do. It's a sweet balance between a swoon worthy love story with a little edge, courtesy of the dangers MC life brings to the table. Tack being the president of said club and living in an outlaw world reacts a little different to relationship matters. And it's fun. On top of that it makes for good stories and Ms. Ashley’s highly descriptive and very detailed style felt a little less strained as well.

Lastly, I’m thrilled to read more about the Chaos boys in their own little book series. Yes, I’m most definitely addicted. ;P

If you follow me, you’ll know I put out a “gimmegimme” for a motorcycle book recommendation after watching the new television series Outsiders. Basically, I wanted to drink wine out of a box and read a book starring this guy . . . .

Palm Springs commercial photography

#boooiiiiiiiinnnnnnnngggggggg

Mrs. Joseph was the first to reply and boy did she provide a good one. The basics of the story are as follows: Tyra quit her old job and has been in hot pursuit of a new one. She also decided she needed to let a little of her inner freak out and bangs a motorcycle dude the night before she starts her new gig. When she shows up for her first day on the job things don’t go quite as planned when she is greeted by new boss, Tack . . .

“I do not work with bitches who’ve had my dick in their mouth.”

Offended by him yet? Good. Get the eff outta here ‘cause he’s mine anyway. Tack is all of the following . . .

“Coarse, vulgar, uncouth . . . rude.”

And I was singing “YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!” because that’s exactly what I was hoping for. As I said in my plea for porn, to quote the late and great Aaliyah “sometimes I’m goody goody, but right now I’m naughty naughty” . . .

Palm Springs commercial photography

I was looking for a leading male who was exactly the way Tack described himself . . .

“I ain’t no choir boy.”

Nope, but he sho ‘nuff made me say Hallelujah a time or twelve. Holy hizzle . . .

Palm Springs commercial photography

I started this book not giving any shits if Tack was a chauvinist or womanizer or criminal or whatever else could be awful. I don’t get offended easily and I sure as hell wasn’t going to allow myself to get offended by a character who very easily could have been written as offensive on purpose. Imagine my delight when I found out not only was the Chaos motorcycle club different from the stereotype . . .

“We don’t transport drugs. We don’t offer enforcement. We don’t sell tail. We don’t sell guns. We build cars and sell auto supplies.”

But Tack was different than the stereotype as well . . .

“You take my hand again like you did that night, I’ll guide you through the nightmare. We’ll make it to the other side and I promise, along the way, you’ll enjoy the ride.”

This was one hell of a ride. Kristen Ashley, you are my official hotline bling . . .

Palm Springs commercial photography

I’m withholding the final star because Motorcycle Man did get a weeeeee bit long in the tooth when it came to the make up/break up B.S. (seriously, just STFU and bang him ya dumbass ‘cause he’s smokin’ hot) and because I have high hopes that things will just keep getting better (I’ve already got the first in the Chaos series cued up and ready to go). Now who’s ready for some of my sloppy seconds with Tack????

#1 Mystery Man — 3.75 Stars
#2 Wild Man — 3.5 Stars
#3 Law Man — 5 Stars

🎧 3rd Read, Dec. 2021 — 5 Stars

Luv. Luv. Luv. I want Tack to teach me how to live.

🎧 2nd Read, March 2021 — 5 Stars

It didn’t penetrate the first time, but it did this time, and what penetrated was that Kane “Tack” Allen is one scary mothefucka. I love him. Not for me. I’m more of a Mitch Lawson and Hank Nightingale type of girl. But for Tyra cause she da boss, and they’re perfect for each other.

When in doubt, go read (listen to) a KA book . . .

I loved this! 😭 The plot was more prominent in here compare to the previous book (which I liked), but the romance was just as wholesome. There was a hassle with an OW and Tack’s ex wife, but honestly I think it added flavor to the story. While it may be annoying, it was also hilarious and the culmination of it resulted in some emotional moments between Tack and Tyra (which I appreciated).

Tyra was fire! Though I did wish sometimes she’d just unleash it and go head to head with Tack without being the first one to cave in. Tack was different from Mitch (Law Man) but still as dreamy. 🙈 He was good and bad and everything in between. I adored Rush and Tabby (Tack’s teenage children) and their get to know moments with Tyra. The MC background was the cherry on top.

My frustration (still) came from the writing, which in true KA fashion (tedious and repetitive) also had the addictive effect in full force. It drove me crazy that she’d go off topic to be overly descriptive about unimportant sh*t (kinda reminded me of Mariana Zapata). I think part of the reason my KA reads have been a success so far is because I read them all on audio in which the narration to me was just flawless. 👌👌

4 Stars (Originally Read 2/21/2014)

3.5 Stars (Re-Read 3/22/2017)

3.5 Stars (*Re-Read 10/14/2019)

Overall Opinion: This was a re-read that I've been putting off for some reason. I think I knew I probably wouldn't like it as much as I did, and sadly that is true. I'm going to drop my rating from 4 stars to 3.5. I couldn't get over how my mental impression of Tack was so far off! I really enjoyed him the first time, and I held him on my KA hero pedestal for a long time. Sadly, I just found him to be an OTT pushy jerk for most of the book! I still enjoyed it, and I still will keep this as one of my favorite KA books...but I'm a little disappointed :(

*Re-Read Update- I'm keeping my rating the same. I skimmed a good bit, but mostly because I knew what was going to happen. Still don't love Tack as much as I initially did, but still did like him some...

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Tyra and Tack's story. Tyra made some big life changes and gets a job as an office manager for a garage. She puts on her brace face on her first day because she was kicked out her new bosses bed the day before after she thought she had finally met her dream man. Tack isn't happy to find out that his ONS is also his new office manager, and he lets her know it in a not-so-nice way. They dance around each other some, but Tack soon realizes that Tyra is what he's been looking for and goes full pursuit. There is friend and family drama, some typical mc drama, and some sexy times...and they do get a HEA ending.

POV: This was told in Tyra's POV (with some small sections in other character's POVs).

Overall Pace of Story: Good. It's a typical KA longer read, but I never skimmed and I thought it flowed well.

Instalove: Kind of, but not the type that irritates me.

H rating: 3 stars. Tack. I went into this with Tack as my #2 KA hero, but he was a major jerk through most of it! He definitely dropped the ranks after this re-read :(

h rating: 3.5 stars. Tyra. I liked her, but I wanted her to be stronger in expressing her feelings at times.

Sadness level: Moderate. I shed a few tears, but I never needed any tissues.

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Good. They have some good tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story.

Descriptive sex: Yes

Safe sex: No

OW/OM drama: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: No

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This had good closure with a HEA ending.

How I got it: I bought it for $3.99 on Amazon back in 2014.

Safety: This one should be Safe with exception for most safety gang readers

So, this must be my 5th/6th re read of this book, and I still love it.

It may not be for everyone, Tack is after all the biker boss to end all biker bosses, rude, bossy, swears a lot, has a short fuse, drinks tequila like it is water, and eats more pork than one man should. But he is a man, who loves life and enjoys it.

Tyra, is careful, has a take out night, does yoga, drinks green tea, but is still kick-ass and feisty.

They have a bumpy start, but once Tack realises who Tyra is as a person, he is determined to have her, and make her live her life. He may be all the things we see at the start of the book, but as it goes on, and we get to know his past, and how he is as he is, you can understand how he is so much more. He is so loving and it is obvious how much Tyra means to him and how much he wants her to mean to him.

Love love love, probably my favourite of this series.

If you liked this book and you aren't watching the show Sons of Anarchy, I'm going to have to ask you why the *censored* not?

For reals. Tack could be in SoA. Half of this story could be on the show SoA. Yes, I said for reals. Deal with it. SoA is a kickass show, btw. It's on Netflix streaming and DvD. If you have Netflix, go check it out. I will give you a pass only if you're not Stateside.

Boo. It's killing me to have to go and write another 3 star review. You do not know how BADLY I wanted to go up to 4 stars. The first 25% of the book was so much fun! And then the middle of the book happened. I put this book down to go read something else, came back and read a few pages, put it down to go read something else, etc. I was working on finishing up today and found my mind wandering and put the reader aside for a few to go clean and when I came back, I realized that I had put the reader away in the middle of a sex scene. This has to be the first time that's ever happened.

I hate not loving books that several of my friends love. You don't know how badly this sucks for me. It's WAY more fun to love a book and have friends to get excited about it with. Being the loner kid at the party is NOT fun. Granted, I do have friends who are absolutely not fans of KA but we're not going to go make a fun group to talk about how we don't love the books. So yeah...it sucks being on the outskirts when a bunch of friends love something and you don't. *sigh*

It isn't that I find this author's books to be bad because they're not. They're just long for no real reason - too much content is either filler or is a repeat of itself (this book had 3 different times where the girl tried to break off the fledgling relationship and that's not counting the times she tried to quit her job to get away from him). If these books could be cut back and rearranged, I think we'd have a lot more to work with. Tack was sexy. Tack's dirty talk was sexy. Tack's protective nature was sexy. Tack's story about the hand around the throat (if you don't know, don't ask) was completely and totally endearing.

I made the point in my review of Mystery Man that all of the KA book heroes seem to sound the same, so I won't go into detail of that again, but it's still an issue. Men simply do not all sound like clones, especially when they come from different cultures, cities and ways-of-life. When you have a pimp, a mountain man, a commando, and a motorcycle club leader all sounding alike, this shows a huge weak spot in character creation and development.

We had yet another kidnapping in this book. I could possibly see this in different series but recycled plots in the same series?

We had another guy liking another girl for the same exact reason. "You give it good, darlin', that attitude."

I just can't get excited about books where the best part of it is that the "guy is sexy." There are tons of great books with more to offer which still have sexy men and steamy hot scenes. There needs to be more that I'm getting from my stories aside from excess filler, repeated plot devices and recycled character qualities.

So does this make me a hater?

No. Absolutely not. 3 stars is NEVER a "dislike" review from me. It's usually my "okay," "average," or "liked but wasn't impressed" rating. I loved the beginning of the book. I loved the end of the book. This also seems to be a repeating feeling of mine. Parts of each KA book are truly enjoyable. Unfortunately, there is way too much extra stuff that simply isn't worth my time. I don't want to know about Uncle whoever and the fourth and fifth co-worker and the random people the characters know from another book series who showed up at the hospital.

Am I officially throwing in the towel?

Who knows. As of right now, I'm taking a break. I think I'll try to finish out the Colorado Mountain series at some point and maybe try the standalone that was recommended to me. I can't say that I'm going to be in any hurry to do so, however.

Best quote of the book :

"Enjoying the fuck out of the show. Shit, Cherry, you're cute, all badass and pissed off and kickin' squirrel-ball ass."

This is one of my go to books, I've lost count of how many times I've actually read this. When I really started to get into reading again (after a break when my children were young and I just didn't get time to read) Kristen Ashley was my favourite author her books were just so much more than anything I'd previously come across. The problem is I can't remember the last time I wasn't disappointed in one of her books to the extent where I've given up on her new stuff completely, but enough moaning back to the book.
This is a fabulous book with some great characters Tack being one of my favourite all time alpha males.
Tyra has made some life changes, she's left her job and started afresh which is why she finds herself at Ride, The Chaos MC and the man of her dreams. She's spent her adult life looking for her dream man and she'll settle for nothing less it's one promise she made to herself a long long time ago and now she's found him, Kane "Tack" Allen. Their eyes meet over a sea of people, they drink tequila and head to his room and it's all good. It's better than good, it's perfect. Tyra is basking in the glow of knowing she's found her man and her future, until he opens his mouth.
“Babe, you awake?”......
“I’m awake,”.....
“Time to get to your own bed, darlin’.”.....
“Leave your number and close the door on your way out, would you, Red?”
To say Tack's not happy when he discovers Tyra's his new office manager is an understatement, he fires her on the spot but Tyra needs the job and Tack learns there's a whole lot more to the woman in front of him than he originally thought.
I've read 3 of the 4 books in this series (not really sure why but Brock's book never really appealed to me) and the characters we loved from them are back along with a whole host of sexy bikers and a story that keeps you reading, along with lots of hot sex. Who could ask for more?
###
Just done another re-read and while I still love Tack just as much as I ever did Tyra annoyed me more this time. I nearly had whiplash with the number of times she was leaving, yes she was definitely going this time...okay well next time it's a definite....maybe.
I don't know why she annoyed me this time but it's still a fabulous book

Needing some space to regroup, I took a ride back to re-discover books and authors that touched me and wouldn't let go. Kristen Ashley has always been my calming go to. She has this way of writing that once you get her mindset and understand how she weaves a tale, it can be addicting, especially with her "Vintage OG series. These books are always something I come back to.

* ** * * Spoiler Free- Many Re-read Reviews :D
This character Tack leaped off the pages from the first Dream Man book, Mystery Man. From the minute he was introduced, he commanded attention. I think KA thought about him and with the way she presented him throughout the entire series, she was priming us for the Chaos books. The timing was right, Sons of Anarchy had become a hit and she was there on the pulse of knowing what readers wanted.

She made him a man who would seem at first very straightforward... almost a caricature when introduced...but by the time we finished Mystery Man, we knew there was much more to Tack.

In this book, we finally got it all.

The woman he focuses on is Tyra. I had difficulties with her because I never really got her. Oh, I ended up understanding her...but her thought process was sometimes annoying to me.

She came from a very set family. Her parents loved Ohio, had a set way of living; could be judgmental but loved her completely. She had a vision in her head of only setting her cap for her Dream Man...She had had only 5 men in her life and made the error of thinking they could be molded or fixed... but it just didn't click. She had a position in a non-dis-script company- we never really know what she did before working at Ride... where she became the supervisor and was targeted by a co-worker who made her life miserable. She made enough to purchase a house and have it fixed up to her liking. She was living her life but decided to shake it up...make changes.

I get all of the above...but still throughout the book, there were moments she didn't make sense...her mouth said one thing but then her actions did another....and to be an equal opportunity player... Tack had his moments too...which were jaw-dropping... over the top claiming.

But in the end... you either buy into whatever KA is presenting or you don't. It is as easy as that... and with the idea of Chaos, Tack, and his quick, true love Tyra, once you were in... you were set for a safe, strong ride. I will say this club was not the Heavy Biker Scene like the Susan Fanetti series Signal Bend, which I love. This was a club that had had its dark... and was moved to the light by Tack over the years... Oh, they are still bikers for sure... but we are not there when they may have wreaked their presence and littered bodies in their wake.

The coming together of these also touches on Tack's past attraction to Hawk's Gwen. It is important because she was a woman he felt more for ....wanted to see if it was for him and lost out to Hawk. What is interesting is he still has her as a friend and it does come into play here... not sexually but supportive. It also reflects that Tack was open to having a real relationship... more than hookups. We see his love for his children; his intrigue for Tyra and all of it comes together where we want more than the Delicious Epilogue.... we are primed and ready for the next series Chaos.

My review below was from the 2nd read of this book with the C.D.Canaries. I think it still remains true.

This was a re-read, thanks to the wonderful C D Canaries! 2/2014

I first discovered KA over a year ago. I cannot remember if this or At Peace was my first book. I can say this was my first biker experience outside of watching Sons of Anarchy (which I loved).

It took me a moment to learn how to read KA, and to figure out the flow and logic of her phrasing and concepts. I wasn't at first sure what was going on but once I got it... I.GOT.IT.

I am not going to go into the particulars of this story... I just am going to say...until you accept the biker code, Tack could seem over the top in his concept of... I have claimed you... therefore you can't go... but once you do accept this code... then his character and everything he stands for... is golden.

Do these KA men exist in the real world... I don't know. I do know, if we are lucky, we get bits and pieces along the way and it is our job to know when the "sweet" is being given.

On a side note.... after reading this book and At Peace, I proceeded to read every single KA book I could get my hands on outside of her fantasy series. Yup, I read 23 books in a row and was not sorry one little bit. (the Fantasy series is up next for me)

Re-reading these books can bring about a fresh mind ... and when you read as much as we all do, I highly advise you to find that happy place anytime you need to... I know I just did.

Oh, yes. This is Vintage Ashley.

I loved every freaking second of it. It was just perfect. Been waiting a while for Tack's story since he first growled onto the page in Mystery Man and it's definitely been worth the wait.

He's everything an Ashley Alpha should be - he's arrogant, rude, domineering, bossy and impossibly HOT! I was appalled with the way he behaved to Tyra after their first night together but I knew he would redeem himself.

What I love about a Kristen Ashley hero is that they may be complete dickheads but, somehow, they know when they fall in love, when they have something special, they claim that woman and they go all out to let the world know that she is their's and to protect her. It gives me the warm and fuzzies. I don't care how un-PC that is, I just love it.

Tyra is a great heroine - she's honest, sweet, vulnerable yet also tough as nails and nothing will hold her back from protecting and defending the people she cares about. Tack is more of the same and then some.

I also loved the whole badass biker MC vibe, the Brotherhood - I'm so glad that there's going to be a new series revolving around Chaos. Bring it on. I loved their tattoos and their sweet touching moments. It was all good.

BUT - KA you have raised the bar exponentially here. Tack is going to be a very hard act to follow.

I f*cking loved this. It's the dogs bollocks.

Rating Clarification: 1.5 Star (but I'm just bumping it to 2)

Motorcycle Man is the first book I’ve read by Kristen Ashley and I think that’s where I went wrong. I probably should have read books 1 – 3 in this series in order to get an initial impression or appreciation for the main character Tack. So meeting him for the first time in Motorcycle Man was a bit of a shocker for me.

I would rate Tack a 15 on the alpha man scale of 1 – 10. Don’t get me wrong, I like alphas but they have to deliver their strength with a bit of finesse or a sporadic gentle caress in order for me to fall for their character. Tack was befitting of his name… he was just too sharp and rough around the edges for me all around, and I just couldn’t come to like him much. The way he talked, the way he treated Tyra, it was all too harsh and too much for me.

Typically, I give books a 1 star if I couldn’t finish it and 2 stars if I didn’t like. For this book, I read the first 200 ePages and then skipped to the last 75 ePages. However, I’m still giving it an extra half star because frankly I’m actually hesitant to even give it such a low rating to begin with considering all of the glowing reviews for this book. Part of me thinks I missed out on something special, something great and I’m bummed I didn’t care for it as much as other readers did. But, I think I can attribute it to the fact that the protag and the writing didn’t fit my style.

Ashley’s writing style takes a lot of patience for me to handle. I feel she repeats herself too much, where I read through a few pages with the same conversation going back and forth leaving me feeling like I’ve accomplished nothing. I mean let’s take the sandwich scene for example:
Tack: Red go get me a sandwich
Red: Whaaa???
Tack: Red, I’m hungry go get me a sandwich
Red: You want me to get you a whaaaa???
Tack: Listen, I said I want a sandwich. You’re in my world. So when I say I want a sandwich, you go and do it.
Red: Wait, so you’re standing there telling me I should…
Tack: Go get me a sandwich.

Okay, in my head I’m screaming GO.GET.YOUR.OWN.DAME.SANDWICH and other stuff too, but I don’t want my angry girl hormones to reveal themselves. Oh and I sort of adlibbed that little convo, but believe me, I’m pretty close to the actual thing. Even Tyra’s narrative felt very repetitious and I found myself losing my patience more than once.

Overall, I’m bummed I didn’t come to like this book as the reviews and reactions seemed promising. I think Kristen Ashley just might not be for me. Oh well I come across that every now and again...

I am wrung out and sated.
Wow.
What a fantastic book!
It's a fabulous conclusion to the best series ever, ever, ever (not a pnr fan so, no, "those" series' don't count), ever, ever, ever!
This book just got deeper and deeper, better and better.

I had read the teaser chapters on the author's blog ages ago, so I felt like it took a while for me to get back into the story. It also felt like Tack and Tyra were arguing a lot, which I normally like, but this started to resemble siblings in the backseat of a car:
Yes you did.
No I didn't.
Yes, you did.
No, I didn't.
(not actual dialog, btw, but you get the idea)

I was also annoyed with Tack early on bc he was being too pushy (literally) for a half a minute, his hands were always at Tyra's throat and he often held her and wouldn't let her go even when she asked him to. Then (then!) something fabulous happens and KA (author-goddess extraordinaire) brought it around, worked it all together for good, hit her stride and rocked my world.
(and rocked it and rocked it and kept rockin' it til the climax, which was amazing!)
Whee!
I would say I'm jk, but it really did work out like that :)

Let me just tell you, my issue with Tack holding on to Tyra especially with his hands on her throat metamorphosed into a thing of beauty (you'll see!) and the constant bickering became witty, fun banter. Those are just two of dozens of great elements in this book. Some of these are signature KA details (huge cast, a background drama that drives action, ex-spouses, etc), others seem added to bring closure to the series as well as introduce a new series, and some are the little behind-the-scenes gears and mechanisms that always effortlessly whir along with simple complexity in most every KA read. These are so organic, so straight out of her heart and mind, that its practically unnoticeable, but they make for a richer experience.

*sigh*
Don't mind me, I am a fan.

A warning for those who have trouble reading the KA dialog that sounds like,
Um,
Eh... um,
Tack,
Red,
Um...
Tyra,
Tack", etc.
There is a lot of mumbling and interruption that shows up in the dialog here too. If that's gonna kill it for you, I can't recommend you read this book. I think you would miss out on a great read, but it's fair warning.

For me, I have become fluent in KA alpha-speak and heroine-mumble by way of immersion. I can breeze through that dialog because to me, it's a brand or a style. I am going on a journey to a place that has a pidgin language that one needs to learn to engage in trade or something (Ha!). In my mind it's part of the KA experience and does not take away from but actually adds to great characterization.

Note: I re-read Mystery Man (Dream Man, #1) by Kristen Ashley Mystery Man just prior to this release and it made the experience even better for me. I rec if it's been awhile since you started this series to reacquaint yourself with Tack in that book first.

I also read the blog post KA put up about missing Tack and it gave me awesome closure.

"5-I'm livin' my life in colour for the first time Stars!"

This is my fourth read of this book, and it was like I was reading it for the first time.
You see, it has been 3 years since I last visited Tack and Tyra and I had forgotten how much I loved their chemistry and the dynamics of their characters.

The characters, writing, and story were amazing, and in true KA fashion- she gave her readers a kick-ass epilogue.

5 ++
AMAZING story and I'm sorry the series has to end... but OH WHAT A GREAT ENDING!!!
Tack and Tyra are AMAZING together!
Loved the story, the writing, and another FRIGGIN AWESOME Epilogue! *sigh*

CAN NOT WAIT TO READ THE CHAOS SERIES!! Tabby stole my heart and Shy... well Shy will be interesting to read when He gives his heart away.

Second read: Oct 11-12, 2012

This was so much better the second read, because even though I knew the story and the outcome... I felt I had more time to savour the characters and the story. I did, however, feel it was along the lines of "Sons of Anarchy" (which isn't bad because I'm a huge fan and Charlie Hunman *sigh*)

... again LOVED Tack & Tyra together. When they loved they loved deep, true and their passion was off the charts with nothing held back.

Photobucket

I really enjoyed Rush & Tabby (Tack's children) this time around because I paid more attention to their characters.

Nothing has changed in my rating (still a 5 ++)
If you like reading about kick-ass, dominate, uber-alpha biker bad-ass males who walk on the dark side, but are trying to find some light.... then you'll LOVE this story!

Third read: August 11-12, 2014

The above rating still applies. LOVED IT!!
Tack and Tyra are still sizzling, hot!

As reviewed for Read Our Lips Book Blog!

Tack! We finally get Tack’s book and boy was he worth the wait! We first met Tack in Mystery Man, Book one of the Dream Man Series. Click here for that review. He’s a hot biker guy, who’s a real badass in the ‘protect and take care of what’s mine’ arena of the Alpha Male, and Kristen Ashley can write the hell out of an Alpha Male!

Tyra is a smart, got-it-all-together chick, who has been living off of her savings for the past two months after leaving a toxic work environment. We meet Tyra after she’s had a one night stand with Tack, thinking he’s her dream man, but after some seriously hot sex, he kicks her out of bed and it breaks her heart a little. Fast forward a day or two we get to see Tyra show up for her first day of work at Ride, the garage belonging to Chaos, the Biker Club of which Tack is the leader.

What is the first thing Tyra sees upon getting out of her car at Ride? Tack kissing a tall, beautiful brunette goodbye. Whatever, Tyra needs this job. She’s been without one for too long. She’s going to do whatever it takes to survive.

Tack spots her and assumes that she’s there for him. But when she explains that she’s there for her first day of work, he informs her she can’t have the job because they’ve slept together. Tyra refuses to take this lying down and fights to keep her job. Tack states that if she’s in his bed again, she’s out the door. Then it’s on like Donkey Kong as Tack sets out to seduce her and Tyra is determined to resist.

Kristen Ashley books are really something special. She writes from a very honest place. Her characters resonate deep emotional truths that just plain ring true. She writes heroines who are so real. They are strong, beautiful, flawed, smart and always full of fire. Tyra was no exception. She had fears and insecurities but those were drowned out by how wonderful she was. So kind and accepting, with a heart of gold.

Tack has two teenage kids from a previous marriage that Tyra accepts and loves. Not because of their Dad, but because they are awesome kids and they earned it all on their own. She has layers and layers to her, all of them wonderful an fascinating. Tack sees this from the get go.

The way Tyra describes the effect Tack has had on her life, is that her world was black and white until she met him and brought color into her world. They are a fun pair to watch unfold. Tack being the tattooed, hawt, badass biker that makes pancakes and fajitas for his family and does anything he can to protect them, even from his ex-wife. And Tyra, the beautiful woman who decided long ago not to settle for anything less than her dream man, but when she finally finds him, it scares the bejeesus out of her. Tack is not without complications.

Tack and Tyra have amazing sexual chemistry and Tack is such a sexy dirty talker. It works. It works really well. The dialogue between the two becomes more and more intimate, as Tack is surprisingly sweet.

But their journey isn’t without outside strife. We have to deal with Tyra’s best friend and some trouble surrounding her, as well as problems with the Russian mob! But to sweeten an already great book, we get to see the other couples and Elvira (yay!) from the other books in the series a few times.

The magnificent Kristen Ashley does it again. Amazing characters, wonderful story, beautiful epilogue. Definite recommended read.

What I loved about Motorcycle Man:

*Tack calls Tyra “Red”, but won’t allow anyone else to call her that.
*Badass bikers with bigass hearts!
*Pepper spray smackdowns.
*KA’s descriptive writing. Nothing like it!
*Tattoos. Existing and proposed.
*Tabby and Rush. Great kids.
*How and why Tack checks for a pulse on the people he loves to reassure himself that they are ok.
*That Tack made Chaos not only run clean, but in the black. Giving it’s members a good life.
*Pizza and The Color Purple.
*Cherry Red 1967 Mustang Eleanor Fastback.
*The word “Greedy” has now become hot!
*Tack’s sweetness and Tyra’s inability to take it without crying.
*Dog tags for no reason.
*That Tack was willing to do whatever he had to to get his kids out of a bad situation from their home with their mother, Naomi.
*How Tyra dresses to come to work at a garage.
*The epilogue. Oh, how I love a Kristen Ashley epilogue.

What I didn’t love about Motorcycle Man:

*BeeBee the skank.
*That Tack was a bit of a jerk for a time. (This resolves.)
*The requirement of Tyra to turn a blind eye to someone’s cheating. I get it, but it feels like the sisterhood take a hit. And Kristen Ashley handles it with aplomb.

“Life’s a roller coaster. Best damn ride in the park. You don’t close your eyes, hold on and wait for it to be over, babe. You keep your eyes open, lift your hands straight in the air and enjoy the ride for as long as it lasts.” ~ Kane "Tack" Allen

A wonderful book with an amazing conclusion to a seriously badass series!

The last line of this book brought tears to my eyes. Boy does Ms. Ashley know how to write an epilogue!!

I absolutely adored how she brought ALL the characters that we have seen since the beginning of the series together. Throughout the whole series, they all help each other out here and there but in the finale of this book ALL the Alpha badasses joined forces and it was pretty freaking epic!!

“We’ve hit the hot guy motherlode.” **SHIVERS**

I loved Tyra! She was smart, sassy, sweet yet vulnerable, can-do, didn’t back down, and gave as good as she got. She was a fun heroine to read and definitely was the perfect match for her big badass biker.

I’ve always liked Tack since we were first introduced to him in book 1, Mystery Man, but the thing that made me fall in love with him was seeing the way he was around his kids and his family in his home life. Just absolutely melted my heart and left me grinning from ear to ear!

“I’m noticing a theme to Life with Kane Allen,” I remarked.
“Yeah, that theme is I got your back. I take care of you. You sleep easy. You eat good. And you feel safe. You tellin’ me you got a problem with that?”

This book is also full of brilliant side characters. We see reoccurring ones like Elvira (who may be one of my fav female characters ever!) and also meet new ones like Tyra’s Aunt Bette and Uncle Marsh who were absolutely perfect, Tack’s kids Rush and Tabby whose stories I would love to read one day, Tack’s psycho ex-wife who was so crazy she actually had me laughing hysterically at times… not to mention the Russian mob and loads of badass bikers.

I have to admit I had a few issues with this book. I didn’t like the appelations the bikers use for their significant others “old man” and “old lady” just really didn’t work for me and I inwardly cringed every time I read it. Also, I felt like there were points where Tack was too crude and too much of a jerk and his world not respectful of women enough for my taste. But that being said, he was hawt and he grew on me a lot, especially once they had the big ‘talk’ and we got to see his side of the story and what it was that had happened in his past to shape him into the man we all know as Tack. His behavior often had me saying "oh he did NOT just do/say that?!" but in the end, I felt he both grew as a person and redeemed himself. Together, he and Tyra found a beautiful compromise of their worlds :)

“I will be there in ten . And what I mean is, when I get there in ten, your ass better be there.”
Oh boy.
“Are you coming on your bike?”
“Yeah.”
“I’m in a tight, short, little acquamarine dress with high heels. I can’t get on a bike.”
“You’re in a tight, short dress and high heels?”
“Yes.”
“I’ll be there in five.”

And his serious protectiveness of Tyra along with his no-bullshit attitude and unwillingness to let anything come between them stole my heart.

“You belong to Chaos. No one touches what belongs to Chaos. No one . They don’t touch it. They don’t hood it. They don’t bind it. They don’t even breathe in its space unless they have Chaos permission...
“I’m Chaos?”
“Was my dick just in you?”
I fought an annoyed growl and said, “Uh… yeah.”
“Then you’re Chaos.”

See what I mean? Crude, but protective and kinda sweet lol.

Seriously though, at the end, seeing Cabe “Hawk” Delgado, Brock Lucas, Mitch Lawson, and Kane “Tack” Allen working together gave me mega shivers!!! Kristen Ashley knows how to write EPIC BADASS at its finest! I actually SQUEED out loud when Hawk came on the page. I adore him! He is definitely my favorite of all the men even though I love them all

“… because Hawk, Brock and Mitch stormed that house at Tack’s side. This meant, to Tack, they were different kinds of brothers. Not of blood. Not of the cut. But that bond was unshakable all the same.”

“Bottom line, no one fucks with my woman.”

As with all the previous books from this series, the writing is smooth, fast paces, doesn’t drag, and keeps you flipping the pages. I read the book almost in one sitting despite it being a decent length.

I absolutely can’t wait to read the spin-off biker series, Chaos, that will come next featuring Shy (serious swoon material!!) and Tack’s daughter Tabby.

Also, if you have already read Motorcycle Man, this is a great little link by Kristen Ashley to read (but spoilers if you haven’t read it): Middle Ground

A perfect ending for a fabulous series! One of the best KA books so far.
5 stars is just not good enough!

The story - great! Tack was being a jerk at the beginning (kinda like Hawk XD), and then he just kept getting sweeter Photobucket First refusing to hire her, then refusing to fire her XD And when he came with the pizza and they watched movies Photobucket one of the best scenes EVER! It was lovely to watch them falling in love <3 And of course as in all the best KA-s, there was a big action scene in the end (God I hated that, very difficult to read), and of course as in all the best KA-s, the epilogue made me cry Photobucket <3 beautiful <3

Tyra - awsome! I just love the fact that she can't have any conversation with Tack that doesn't end up with them fighting (bickering actually XD) It was just fun to read Photobucket She is not used to men like Tack, she doesn't get his signals, so they have their ups and downs pretty often XD She was awsome when she kicked Tabby's boyfriend's ass!! Photobucket And later Naomi hahahah A great character!

Tack - Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket ! In the KA world, I think Tack goes in the alpha-caveman-badass-emotional category XD This is a guy who does what he wants, when he wants it, how he wants it, no matter what. Being a biker dude - automatic hotness! Tatoo-s all over him - hotness! Goatee - HOT-NESS! But even though he's tough and badass, he has a sweet side that he showes Tyra when she lets him in <3 Loved that <3 and the fact that he figured out Tyra is the one for him, so no matter what happens, he'd never let her go <3 mush all over Photobucket

And here's a pic I stole (sorry) from another review, just fell in love with it <3 It's totally Tack and Tyra <3 beautiful :)

Old review:

Well this was just fabulous, I LOVED the whole book, it deserves a 10 star rating! I looked forward to reading about Tack from the first book, and this one didn't dissapoint me :) As always, full of emotions, the ending was intense, and I'm kinda sad the Dream Man series is over :( Although I must say, Elvira is my favotite KA character so far, I wish she got a book of her own :)

I haven’t read a lot of MC books, but this one I enjoyed! Tack was a typical over the top man in a typical Kristen Ashley’s way. At first I thought he was such a huge jerk and I cringed at the way he was talking to her but he kinda grew on me. I really liked their story and their chemistry. Tyra was amazing. I loved how protective she was of Tabby. I enjoyed all the parts with the kids and the whole MC crew. There were a lot of ex’s drama (that woman was just ugh!) The book was long and it kinda dragged but overall it was so enjoyable

Buddy Read with my fellow KA-Land Loving Girls at Buddies Books and Baubles

Have you ever noticed that the line between alpha man and total douchebag is really blurry? It is amazing to me that in KA-land I just accept the heroes so completely when usually in the beginning they start out a bit on the side of douchebaggery and then slowly shift to hot alpha man that I can love forever.

This is not different for Tack, he starts this book clearly on the side of grade A first class asshole. Tyra met Tack and knew right away he was the man for her. Unfortunately Tack did not feel the same way, to him she was just another great lay in a long line of great lays. So what was special to Tyra from the beginning was just another tequila induced sex-a-thon to Tack. Until she shows him the sass.
“So you’re good-looking, have great tats and a cool goatee. So you caught my eye and I caught yours. We had sex. Lots of sex. It was good. So what? That was then, this is now. We’re not going to play, not again. We’re done playing. I’m going to come in at eight, leave at five, do my job, and you’re going to be my scary biker dude boss, sign my paychecks, do my performance evaluations and maybe, if you’re nice, I’ll make you coffee. Other than that, you don’t exist for me and I don’t exist for you. What we had, we had. It’s over. I’m moving on and how I’m moving on is, I’m… working… this… job.”

She might has well waved a red flag in front of the bull because what do alpha men on the douchebag side of the line like more than sass is a straight up challenge. Tyra just declared she was a challenge and now Tack is going to make sure he conquers that gauntlet that she has just thrown down.

I don’t really know anything about motorcycle clubs and the men in them but this was a pretty good and semi-tame intro to that world. The idea of brothers and going to the mat for all the men in your crew I definitely liked. Tack becomes great as a love interest even if he started a little on the wrong side of the douchebag line. It is soon that we get the soft belly underneath the hard badass exterior.
”… I figure I’d find my way to beauty eventually. And I’d find absolution because I’d know, I earned the love of that woman, a woman who’s got so much to her it’ll take years to dig down and find the heart of her, that would be my reward.”

I love living in KA-Land where hot alpha men run rampant and there is always a touch of drama and pain with the joy and the hilarity of some of the situations. Motorcycle Man is filled with a great blend of these.
✔ - Semi Drunk Girl scene full of hilarity with the girls. Drunken Tyra is pretty funny when she freaks out.
✔ - 2 yes count them 2 abductions (I don’t care I love those)
✔ - Cameos from all the Dream Men *fans self*
✔ - Crazy Family/Best Friend drama
✔ - An Aunt with some unexpected Skills
✔ - Elvira doing cute babytalk to a future badass commando
✔ - Alpha mannerism that annoying at first turns out to be incredibly and adorably sweet. A man can put his hand on my throat anytime if it means what it means to Tack.
✔ - Showdown with the Russian Mob.

Add all that together and it is totally a great time in the making. I liked Tyra more than some of the other KA heroines and let’s face it she did not stand a chance against the onslaught when Tack decided she would be his. But it was fun to watch her make him work for it.

This was a great conclusion to the Dream Man series. But I’m incredibly happy that there is more Chaos and Tack in the Chaos series. I’m now ready to take a walk into the world of Motorcycle clubs and the badass alphas that live in that world.

"Motorcycle Man", is definitely my FAVE out of the "Dream Man" series.
AND, Tack, he's My #1 KA ALPHA!!!!
Hmmm, dare I say it????
YES!! He's my #1 BAD ASS MC BIKER!!!

This book reeled me in from the beginning and it never let go!
I was in complete book heaven!!
Tyra Masters aka "Red", is a 35 year old woman, whose decided her life needs some shaking up.
She's led a pretty dull life and has never been one to do anything spontaneous, but Tyra is sick of the "same old", and the toxic people that surround her, so spontaneity lands her a job as the new office manager at "Ride Custom Cars and Bikes" and also in the bed of one SINFULLY SEXY, Kane "Tack" Allen!!!!

Tyra is seeing an "HEA" with Tack, after their first night of HOT sex together, but Tack is seeing her as a one night stand, and basically telling her - "Don't let the door hit your ass on your way out."
Tyra's a truly amazing heroine.
She has a heart of gold, but is also quite feisty, and can stand up to big, BAD TACK!!!
He becomes completely mesmerized by Tyra, with every little piece of herself that she reveals to him over time.

Tack and Tyra have a rough start in the beginning, but it's Tack who see's he may have misjudged Tyra, and he pursues her hard. You might even say he did a bit of "wooing", in his own sinfully delicious way!!

I fell really HARD for this man.
He was gorgeous, extremely ALPHA, sexually insatiable, but MOST of all, he LOVED with everything he had in his heart! Which was ENORMOUS!
Tack isn't into playing games, and he is a man who appreciates a woman who has a bit of "SOFT" inside her.

I've noticed with most of the books in this series, that I relate to the heroine. There are pieces of me that I have in common with each of them.
I loved that she had a picture of her "dream man" and that she was never going to settle for anything less.
Why should we settle for less???!!
I think we all deserve the man of our dreams with an HEA to top all HEAs!!!!!

"I promised myself, as a little girl, that I would settle for nothing less than my dream man. Nothing less. It was crazy. I've thought on it and I don't even know why I vowed that to myself, I just did. Girls do that, sure. Then the reality of life seeps in and they get over it. My dream man or nothing. So I looked for him my whole life. I was going to live that dream, I would settle for nothing less. So I had nothing until that night at Ride when I met you."

This story has a bunch of awesome secondary characters.
Loved Tabby and Rush. Can't wait to read their stories!!
Well,I'm hoping that Rush gets one!
Aunt Bette and Uncle Marshall were Kick Ass and Uncle Marshall definitely had me in tears during one of his conversations with Tyra.

We get all of our other Dream Men, their women, and Elvira!!
Always love catching up with them and we do get plenty of them in this book!!
There's heart pounding action as well!!

I am so happy that I finally got around to reading KA's books and that I got to experience this one with some of the most wonderful book buddies ever!!
