Digitalisation in maritime will get much more important as emissions and fuel regulations start to tighten. Under FuelEU Maritime, for example, it will be most cost effective to have about a third of your fuel from e-methanol by 2035, we heard from Ahti Consulting in our webinar on Nov 17. And with future fuels costing between 2.5 and 8 times as much as conventional fuels, the drivers to cut down consumption will be much stronger. Not to mention pressures from charterers, banks and other stakeholders.

Digital technology can do a great deal to help. Although probably not one single solution, but multiple integrated technologies. Integration will be easier if they are as open and transparent as possible.

If you are a shipowner or senior manager, you will probably want your IT and technical staff to be as up to speed as possible on new technologies and what they can do. Attending our Digital Ship Hamburg event will help. And it is free to attend for employees of shipping companies.

Topics we'll cover at the event include Harren Group's perspective on the digital journey in maritime, application management at TORM, better cybersecurity testing of bridge equipment, How the maritime cybersecurity threat picture is changing, forecasts for the development of the maritime satellite communications market, managing alarm overload, using high performance computing to improve ship energy systems, and how to build digital systems to better understand ship performance.

We look forward to seeing you in Hamburg on Dec 7!
