VNS
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

What are you good and bad experiences with the VNS? My neurologist has referred me to a VNS surgeon, but I'm not sure how I feel about it.

I've have the VNS & it was out in 2002. It has helped decrease, but not eliminate my seizures. 1 issue I have w it is that it effects my breathing. I'm asthmatic and when my allergies come out they need to decrease how frequently it goes off and how long each impulse lasts. When they need to do this my seizures increase.

Hi I have a VNS and have had one for 10 years. I believe it has helped me making them not as heavy as the use to be. In the beginning I felt a little sore and uncom because I didn't know what to expect.
They have a new one which has sense of your heart rate increasing and getting the VNS to catch.
I'm scheduled to see the surgeon May 26 to get my surgery date.
Where are U located because if in Mi. Ill try and help.
My email is [[email: [[email: (Email address can only be seen by the question and answer creators) and my name is Sal.
I`m 53 and have boys 18-20 who I love very much .

Good luck to y and I will email u my # if U need it take care

Hi @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member. The VNS is different for all of us all. For myself it didn't do too well.. the only thing that I can truely think , that's like a side affect, is when the magnet is use and your already out of your seizure. You may feel a wierd sensation and it may make you cough.
