Jimmy the time-traveler, while trying to solve a time-riddle his late father left for him, gets accidentally flung back in time, to the year 1871, the days of the Wild West, landing squarely in the middle of a valley of death. He stumbles into a pack of gun-toting rustlers, who capture him. To Jimmy’s luck though, the youngest of the rustlers, Kit Fisher, is not like the rest of his folks.
I'm not sure what I expected - maybe some erotic adventures given the title - but with only one frotting scene it had a decided lack of eroticism. And as I mentioned in an update, someone was constantly whipping their dick out...but not for any sexing. Oh no, it was to pee. Everyone peed. And it was just to pee. It wasn't even watersports to make things interesting.
See, Jimmy lands in the wild-west circa 1870 and stumbles upon a gang of rustlers who strip him down and tie him up...and that's where you'd think maybe some "erotic adventuring" would occur. But no. A whore-wagon comes by and most of the guys go for pump-n-dump punnany. Which, okay, is probably historically accurate but this is supposed to be an erotic adventure.
It doesn't get much more erotic after he and the lone hold out rub off on each other, and only slightly more adventuresome (if cross-dressing to infiltrate a saloon and being sexually assaulted counts).
Very disappointed.
(Also, all with awkward/wrong/repeated word choices this book desperately needed an editor.)
Edited to add: I think I was hoping for Captain Jack type shenanigans...and this is not that. At all.
I listened to the audiobook of this one. It was a very fun two-hour adventure. the narration is really GOOD! I loved the characters, Jimmy especially. It was romantic, hot at times, very entertaining. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys the mix of science fiction and cowboys. 5 stars!
Awwww, I loved Kit. He's just so adorable. So lucky to have stumbled into Jimmy like that. A well-written story, a nice mix of romance and harsh Wild West realities. The sex scenes were really hot. I liked the illustrations in the back also, I just wish there were more of them. Really good read.
I love this story so much! A mix of time traveling & gay romance & cowboys/Wild West. A lot of fun and the ending was very nice! Totally loved it. I want more.
I enjoyed this quick read. The world building was quick and understandable. I feel like I know how and why time travel works in this place without getting just an info dump. Jimmy and Kit's evolving relationship was adorable. And the resolution of the issues in this book were amusingly awesome. The illustrations were great too and fit right in with the tone of the book. For the ebook they're all in the back, which avoids formatting issues in the ebook. I'd love to pickup a paperback sometime and see if they're inline with the story because that would be even cooler.
Episode one definitely whetted my appetite for more in this series.
Between the charming and enthusiastic performance by J.E. Jones, and the well timed musical interludes, I had the best time listening the audio edition of Perie Wolford’s Jimmy’s Erotic Adventure in Time and Space Continuum, Episode 1!
More of a creative sci-fi adventure with a side of romance, Jimmy’s Erotic Adventure totally held my attention. I can already see this series is going to be completely addictive.
An audiobook copy of Jimmy’s Erotic Adventure was provide to me by the author for the purpose of my review
I received a copy of the audiobook from the author. A review was not guaranteed.
Jimmy is a time traveler who is dropped in the Old West (think cowboys and saloons) by accident. He's captured by a group of rustlers and isn't sure at first what is to become of him. But one of the men seems different, and he might have found a friend or even kindred spirit in this different time.
There were things that I enjoyed and unfortunately more that I didn't. I did like the fish out of water trope, and there were definitely some humorous bits. However, there were too many instances of anachronisms or other things that felt out of place that hampered my enjoyment. As for the audiobook, I felt like the narrator did a fine job with the different voices, but there were a few mispronounced words and overall he spoke much too quickly compared to other narrators I have heard. 2.5 stars rounded up because of the different setting and subject matter.
I liked the idea, even though I usually don't like the time travel theme. But it's a short story, and it has flaws that I usually find in stories like this. I would prefer more character development and more relationship building. I didn't like Jimmy at first, and I'm still not entirely convinced of him. Kit, on the other hand, is cute. I think they can make a nice couple together, but I would like them to have a little more time.
I read this story because I needed it for one of my reading challenges. Perhaps if I need something like that again, I will read another story in this series.
This was cute, but as erotic adventures go, there wasn't too much erotic going on except for a brief scene in the middle. But it was fun and fluffy in that romance with loose sci-fi trappings kind of way where you can't think about it too much or you'll ruin it. I'd go for more of these if they came out.
As you can tell from the title, the author toils with language a little bit now and then. Everything's mostly well-edited, but now and then there will be a word that is just used incorrectly. It almost always sounds like a thesaurus mishap. At one point the main character is described as having "wizened lips" because he was dehydrated from being in the desert sun all day. But that's not what wizened means. The character is 22.
The narration was similar: fine most of the time but with sudden spells of awkwardness, as though punctuation was added or omitted. Good dialogue delivery, though.
The guy on the cover is hot, but he doesn't match any of the characters in the story. I don't know what that's about. Write a story about him.
This was short and sweet. It's not hugly erotic, but that can sometimes be a good thing (and this was one of those times) as you get a better, more rounded story. If you get a chance to read it; read it.
This was an interesting story. I kept seeing free audiobook codes being advertised but figured it would have a lot of sexual stuff, so I stayed away… for a while. I’ve read plenty of Erotica, per erotic adventure in the title, but I’m just no longer interested in stories specifically about that; I want more! Needless to say, I'm surprised by how much I liked this story. Minus one “erotic” scene, this is definitely not what I expected or would think of as an erotic adventure. It's funny, different, somewhat cheesy. I’m not sure if all the urinating had a point to it, other than to talk about a male character’s “junk.”
The narrator is very natural. I like him a lot. The music that’s played is a different story though. I was trying to figure out when it would be played; were there specific times? Maybe at the end of a chapter or major scene change? But I couldn’t find any correlation between the times it’s played. I only had one question for this story. The Machine ends up telling Jimmy that it had seen, via security footage, that Kit’s brother and his gang were already at the saloon. What security footage? Aren’t they in the 1800s?

I sometimes like to try books outside my usual reading scope. So when offered this one the title threw me. I am not into erotica much at all and Sci-fi is a large leap too, but I read the title and it goes back into the old west which I love cowboys, so I figured why not. It is only 2 hours long. I am so glad I did give this one a shot. It is very lighthearted, fun and interesting. I wouldn’t call it science fiction, just time travel and I liked the device being like a character. It also wasn’t as erotic as I thought it would be. There wasn’t a lot of sex and there was a good storyline. At the end, I nearly cried. I would listen to more in this series. The narration is good as well, I liked the voicing and pace. There is some music and I am just not used to that and though it isn’t bad it isn’t my thing. If you like time-travel, the old west, rustlers, a touch of mystery, lighthearted stories, short stories, and some hot man-sex I suggest you give this a go.
I suspect this is a YA novel. Time traveler pops up in Utah in the late 19th century, falls inn with a gang, bonds with the youngest member. Light heat, interesting descriptions of environment and good humor in the multiple situations included in the tale.
As I am a gatherer of books, I collect books and ebooks from a variety of sources: Goodreads wins, Bookhub, BookFunnel, emails from authors and publishers, and others. I do lose track of their sources. But, as a reader, I feel I should give an honest, unencumbered review for all I read.
