Bulldog Briefs 2018 - club news and results summary
Dear members, sponsors and supporters,
A great weekend just gone for the club!
A good win to the Div. 1 netballers of Friday evening, three excellent wins to senior men and U19 teams on Saturday and a solid win to the senior women on Sunday! A great effort by the Div. 5 netballers as well in their close loss – so an excellent vibe around the club both on training nights and game days! Let’s keep it going everyone!
On Saturday this weekend, the senior team once again plays off for the Mason/Glenn Shield, which has been held by SCFC for several matches . This trophy reflects the contributions made to our respective club's by two fantastic individuals - from South Croydon's perspective Phil Mason - club legend, life member, games record holder etc etc! We need a large crowd in support to cheer both men's teams on and further consolidate their good ladder positions.

Good luck to all teams this weekend!
Go doggies #letsdoitagain2018!

Seniors - Rd 7
A solid performance across the field game by our boys in a game we were expected to win.
Pleasing that we have had two weeks where we have won each quarter and not take the foot off the pedal when in front.
Can we improve on this performance? - yes there is still a lot we can do better in certain aspects and it's important that we work hard on the track this week and enter the game against the Roos fully engaged and focused.
Watch a reply of the game at the EFL Match Footage Hub.

Development Squad - Rd 7
This was one of the best development squad performances for a number of seasons.
The quick and fluid ball movement, the unselfish play, and the even contributions across the park - reflected in the final result.
If the team can keep playing in this week, we will push all teams in the competition.
What we now need is consistency; playing this way each time we take the field. Like the senior team, it's vitally important that the team comes ready to play against East Ringwood this weekend.

U19s Whitehorse/Sth Croydon - Rd 8
After a slow start against a quick Park Orchards side, South Croydon/Whitehorse got on top of the game in the 3rd quarter.
Accountability in the first two quarters was not great. However, once the game plan kicked into gear a ticking scoreboard saw the Dogs settle in.
Terrific games from the likes of Jack Schinck, Nick McDonald and Nick Repalust saw good drive from the whole group, enabling the team to rack up a win over the 2nd team in the comp. Other good contributors were Jayson Fabris, Sam McKellar and Noah Stoffels and Baron Chu.
Keep up the good work on the track and results will happen on the field.

Senior Women - Rd 5
This week the girls knew they had to play well and hit our targets and come out with a big win to keep from dropping down the ladder.
One of our season objectives is to kick more goals than points each game and today's game snuck in (17.15).
Ruby came back after an ankle injury and snagged 8 goals. We welcomed Cass Tucker for her first game; she played an good game, picking it up quickly. We welcomed back Mary Bunston who returned from her honeymoon Saturday to get straight back into footy on Sunday and played an excellent game in the centre.
There were rotations every 5 minutes and players were thrown from forward to back but each knew their new role. This shows the dedication the players are putting in off the field in learning the game. We played a solid 4 quarters and worked the ball around the ground nicely.
It has certainly been great watching the women develop in the last few months. Trust the process girls!

South Croydon Red - Rd 6
Friday night's clash was against Coldstream Grey.
In a physical contest, we lead at every break running out winners 41 - 28.
The team has gelled together well and the girls are a tight unit regardless of the line up each week.
Undefeated for the first six rounds and sitting top of the ladder, we are looking to keep the momentum going this week as we tackle Knox Falcons.
Keep up the awesome work girls!

South Croydon Blue - Rd 6
On Friday, we knew we were coming up against the top team which meant we needed to bring our A-game.
Unfortunately after an amazing comeback by the girls, being down by 10, we fell short of the win and lost by 4.
The girls played well against the strong and very tall South Belgrave team, and should be proud of their defensive efforts towards the end of the game.
Bring on next week. Go doggies!

Juniors - Rd 7
Another beautiful day last Sunday down at Benson Oval with the under 9’s, 11’s 15’s & 17’s all playing home games.
Our under 12 Girls team played away against Vermont. They drew the game but still belted out the Doggies song with pride. We feel that their first win is just around the corner.
