Life Is Strange Max Empty Room

The time-warping adventure game Life Is Strange will be getting a sequel according to a post by DONTNOD Entertainment on the game's official Tumblr blog.

Life is Strange is an adventure game developed by DONTNOD Entertainment and published by Square Enix. Players take on the role of Max Caulfield, a young woman with an affinity for photography in her final year of high school. Throughout the course of the game, Max learns that she has the ability to rewind time and she must use these powers to unravel the mystery at the heart of the fictional town of Arcadia Bay, Oregon.

The game received generally favorable reviews with a Metascore of 85 on Metacritic and a user score of 8.6; OpenCritic gives the game an Official Score of 82 with a much higher Contributor Average of 92. According to DONTNOD Entertainment, the game has over 3 million unique paying customers across all platforms.

The team behind the first game is hard at work on the sequel. Aside from it being set under the same brand, we don't yet know much in the way of details. DONTNOD has stated that they won't be showing anything at E3 this year. They conclude the post by stating that they're thankful for the patience and patronage of their fans. If you don't yet own Life is Strange, you can pick it up on sale for PC over at the Humble Store for $4.99 or your regional equivalent. The sale ends on May 25, 2017 at 10:00 AM Pacific Time.

Quick Take

Man, I really liked the first game. It wasn't perfect by any means, but it was really well-produced. My only gripe was that the music used in the game was subject to weird licensing restrictions because some of the artists were based in France. I think it's silly to be unable to snap up a digital game soundtrack these days, and I really hope the success of the previous game will allow DONTNOD to negotiate for better terms.

What do you think of Life is Strange getting a sequel? Do you hope to see a continuation of the adventures of Max & Chloe or would you prefer that they tackle a new set of characters? Do you think it will be able to live up to the first game? Let us know in the comments below!
