Found this AV Security Program while within Facebook.

https://www.scanguard.com/

Not too much info on it Browsing Web apart from http://www.avbest10.com/reviews/scanguard.

After searching around i didnt find anything to alert anyone to stay away from it , to me it looks very suspicious.

Siteadvisor said OK and McAfee Site Advisor said ok .

I dont run a Virtual Machine to test it , so maybe an Expert could advise further and warn others in the event they see it and decide to try it.

The ScanGuard website indicates they are a UK based company with a 2016 Copyright so they apparently are new.

They do make available the following:
Terms of Service
Privacy Policy
Account & Billing
ScanGuard Features

Well, I don't like that a fake-ish "suggested" item appears in Facebook showing an image pointing to unplugging the power from a router, then, if you click to see what it's about, goes to some guy talking on a FoxNews program and below is just advertising for this ScanGuard (who, in 30 years, I've never heard of). *chuckling .. It appears that Facebook will sell adverts using misleading images to get clicks. What a friggin' crock.!  And, I can't imagine any self-respecting security outfit ever using this sort of manipulation to get someone to their site and try to sell their product.  No, to me that's bad karma on both Facebook (not too surprised there I guess) and on ScanGuard, who I just was introduced to under false pretense and immediately do not trust.

Just like TV Adverts, they are trying to reach the targeted audience on Facebook and it's certainly not my generation.

I saw a different "suggested" post on FB:

But I got the same results you did. I found this VERY misleading. I agree with all you said, except I'm a little more hard-nosed about it. For me, any business that employs deceptive tricks in order to get my business .... WON'T .... not ever!

Didn't quote your tag line about donating to BC. I was unaware of the lawsuit until I logged on yesterday. I read that entire thread (ad nausea), and having been a paying user of spyhunter myself for about a year five years ago, I gladly donated $20 to the BC defense fund. Twenty bucks is like a spit in the ocean, but I plan on doing that again, and hopefully enuf other people will that it will add up to real help.

This 'scanguard' looks exactly like the rogues that were/are circulating the last several years....

ScanGuard is listed as one of the Top 10 Best Antivirus Software 2016. While being in that list does not mean it is an effective program, rogue software is typically not something they include.

Greetings, just a heads up on something called "Scan Guard". I like many others like to try different things anyway came across this little ditty callled Scan Guard it's an anti virus. booster.cleaner etc.  also for a limited time it's "free" (till tomorrow !0-23-16) red flag right there. Anyway install ed it  ran it when finished said I had 2 threats proceeded to "resolve" had a few choices quarantine, delete (forgot the third) so I hit quarantine which brought me to another page where it asks you to "purchase" another product at sale cost to remove the threat.  So on this happy note I uninstalled the product and am here to give my heads up. You guys are great on this site, helped me many times just wanted to return the favor. Thanks  :thumbup2:

It might be an idea to create a topic in the Am I Infected? forum as "Scan Guard" may of left some bad files on your PC.

Since we already have a recent topic on ScanGuard I have merged this one into it.

You can find that topic here which is the appropriate place for such discussion.

I have just come across this program from an advert on The Guardian news website ('Recommended by Outbrain' at the bottom of the page) on an article covering politics and wikileaks. The title is similar with 'PC Owners Urged to Do This Today', with the advert hosted on weblifeadvice (.com). Ignoring the program name, the advert is rather generic and suspect

There have been reports of adverts elsewhere.

Thanks for the heads up, I just downloaded the "free" version and thought I would check before installing, glad I did.
