BooksGoSocial

This week, we're talking with Greg Kater about his new book The Warramunga's War.

The Warramunga's WarTell us something unexpected about yourself!

Until recently I had no time to write books, travelling around the world as a mining consultant. Now I have time to write and love it.

How did you get into writing?

I met many interesting people throughout my career and most of the characters in my books are based on them.

Where did you get the inspiration for your current book?

Partly from the war records of my father who fought in the Middle East during WWII and partly from my own experiences in the northern parts of Australia.

How long did it take you to write this book?

About 9 months (including historical research)

Have you got any writing rituals?

I try to write 500 words or more a day.

How important is marketing and social media for you?

I am not experienced in social media.

What advice would you have for other writers?

Be patient and, most importantly, enjoy it.

What are you reading now?

Talking to the Sharks by Martin O'Brien

What’s your next step?

My second book in the Warramunga series, The Warramunga's Aftermath of War, is about to be published. Just finished the third book in the trilogy and editing it.

What are your top 3 books of all time?

The Territory by Ernestine Hill; The Man from Snowy River by A B Paterson; All the books written by Patrick O'Brian

Do you read your book reviews?

Yes. Fortunately most of the reviews of my book, from different sources, have been very positive.
