There’s a storm brewing…

The day his wife died, Sheriff Cash Hill discovered she was leaving him for another man, one she’d loved since before their marriage. How could the single dad ever trust another woman again? But when Georgia’s best friend, Holly, comes back to town, something about Holly’s sweet, sassy vulnerability has his protective instincts kicking in hard.

Holly Jensen left La Colina, Texas with regrets. She’s returned home to work as the new large animal vet and to watch over her best friend’s daughter. But Holly’s knowledge of Georgia’s past could rip a family apart. And she’s reluctant to go to the sexy… and single… sheriff, as he’s made it clear he wants nothing to do with her.

Both are faced with a choice… stay locked in the past or allow their reservations to be silenced by a passion hotter than Texas summer nights. Can they learn to trust their own hearts and each other?

Kadie Scott

Multi-award-winning author, Kadie Scott, writes steamy romantic comedies and western romance. She loves plots that move hot and fast, feisty heroines with sass, heroes with heart, a dash of snark, and oodles of HEAs! Other titles include wife, mother, Star Wars geek, ex-competitive skydiver, spreadsheet lover, eMBA, organizational guru, Texan, Aggie, and chocoholic.

Kadie attempted to find a practical career related to her favorite pastime by earning a degree in English Rhetoric (Technical Writing) and an MBA. However, she swiftly discovered that writing without imagination is not nearly as fun as writing with it.

Kadie currently resides in Austin, Texas, with her own swoon-worthy hero, their angelic (mostly) kids, who are growing up way too fast, and 2 adorable fur babies.

Sometimes the hardest thing to do is save someone from themselves. Sometimes you need to throw yourself under the bus to do so and hope for the best, especially when you are doing the right thing.

Kadie Scott’s SAVING THE SHERIFF is a story of secrets, lies, love and loss and the ugly scars that can be left on the soul if one cannot/will not move forward. When Holly Jensen came back to La Colina, she brought the weight of the past with her, the secrets she kept for her best friend. Now Georgia is gone, leaving behind a daughter and a husband she was going to leave for another.

Holly has always had a crush on the handsome Sheriff Cash Hill and even though time has passed, her feelings haven’t changed. Too bad Cash sees her as his late wife’s best friend and totally off-limits, even as a friend. When Holy is forced by her conscience to do “the right thing,” even though she knows it will hurt several people she cares about, Cash decides she is definitely public enemy number one, even though his heart keeps saying there is more to the story and the woman.

Will destiny, a collision of the past and present destroy any future these two may have had? The truth can hurt, but it can also heal and maybe it’s time for the Sheriff to move forward.
An emotionally tumultuous tale where, if everyone would listen to their hearts, the problem would be solved! Physically, there is a slow build, then a drop, then a buildup that was refreshing to see.

Cash is a bit aggravating at times, pushing Holly into the “enemy” camp while still giving off “I want you” vibes. Does he not realize that love and hate are two very potent emotions with the exact opposite effects? Guilt by association is not true guilt? And Holly? Wow, she is strong, but vulnerable, and not in a bad way, she had heart and I liked that.

If you’re looking for romance with a touch of country charm and a darling child to amp up the sunshine factor, Kadie Scott has it, right here!

It is an amazing story about two people learning to trust and communicate with each other after a tragic accident.

I was really happy with this book and I couldn't put it down. The only downside was I wanted more spicy scenes, but that's just my preference.

This was pottering along until I got to the 90% mark, where Cash dumps his child on Holly's doorstep without any warning, or asking if she could babysit for an entire day, and then he buggers off without a word, leaving the child by herself.

And then he does the same thing again and again - Every time Holly has a day off work, she finds the girl left on her doorstep. And Cash refuses to answer his phone.

I WOULD HAVE CALLED SOCIAL SERVICES!!!

AND I'd have made him take back the blasted kitten he had foisted on her without asking!!

What sort of man(moron) does that to his child? More importantly, what sort of man does that to a working woman who has a hell of a hard job and isnt even consulted as to whether she is willing to be an unpaid babysitter??

Dump him, Holly. He's the sort of moron who likes his women pregnant, barefoot and behind the sink.

I can't remember the last time I was so angry with a character in a book.

As for the story? The plot was tissue thin and too easily resolved and there was virtually no tension, or conflict. I kept waiting for something serious involving the horse that was caught in the fence, but ... nothing.

Cash's family were overbearing, dominant, bossy, rude. And Cash was simply obnoxious.

Well the cover is what snagged me. But the story kept me entertained, too!

The Gist: Holly has had a thing for Cash since they were kids. But her best friend had a drunken fling with him years earlier and wound up pregnant and married to him. After he's widowed and Holly returns home, well, the temptation is there but there are too many secrets in their way.

I liked Holly and Cash. They were both hurt quite a bit by his wife/her best friend who was a pretty selfish chick. Both have some trust issues and lots of hurts and they keep piling on as the past comes back to haunt them. I liked them, though. He's an awesome daddy and good guy. She's smart and has a way with animals.

Their romance was a little slow. The temptation and chemistry there but all the other issues there, too. It took them a while to sort things out and get over themselves. A bit of steam, a bit of frustration, a bit of sweetness. It was a nice mix though I wish the romance had been a little more.

Overall, Saving the Sheriff was a good read. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the siblings find their matches.

"Received an Advance Reader Copy in exchange for a fair review"
I really loved this story and its slow pace. I loved how, in the beginning, the hero, Cash, apparently disliked the heroine, fought the attraction that sprang up, but was always succumbing to jealousy. All those initial confusing feelings in a romantic relationship were masterfully handled, gently, with complexity, instead of the usual clichéd approach. His resistance was rather fetching and made him a compelling character, very enjoyable to read.
I also liked Holly’s personality: determined but vulnerable, a bit shy, hard-working, trying to be fair and a good friend, in spite of all the problems and obstacles. Her work as a veterinarian is beautifully depicted.
The strong father/daughter relationship was another aspect I loved. And the beautiful setting (La Colina - Texas Hill Country).
Finally, what made me love this story even more was the authenticity of scenes such as those when Cash tells Holly about the little girl’s paternity or his laughter and amusement when Holly describes how she became the “witch doctor”: so touching!

MY RATING: 4.5/5 STARS

I was provided an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Wow. Where do I start with Kadie's newest contemporary release?

Saving the Sheriff is a lot different from the romantic comedies I've been reviewing from her and published by Entangled Romance. It's a small town romance for one. It involves a lot of delicious drama and heartache that made me burst into tears from what the characters say to each other in the heat of the moment. And it's really well written. I just love Kadie's writing style. It's not poetic and whimsical, filled with similes and metaphors but she has the ability to express what characters feel and think in the most accurate and beautiful way.

A little back story is that Cash, a single father, has been through a lot. A one-night-stand suddenly turned into fatherhood and start a family with a woman he well respected but not quite love. He was once optimistic and trusting but since the death of the mother to his child, he has become a shell of himself. He protects his kind. He doesn't let anyone in on his pain and anguish of being a young father and losing someone. He feels guilty for the things that occurred afterwards. And he has almost a tangible hate towards our heroine, Holly, because of misunderstandings and miscommunication.

And our heroine, Holly is nothing less of a character to Cash. She was the best friend to Cash's daughter's mother.  She was also inexplicably in love with Cash before her best friend decided to sleep with him that one night and ended up pregnant and destroying their friendship all in one shot. However, Holly found it in herself to forgive the mother and to be part of their lives despite not living in the same small town they all grew up in. Holly's also has her own faults as well. For years, she blamed herself for being selfish when she decided to give her little brother and sister to a foster home so she could study in a university and become a vet. And to make matters worse, the small town never really forgave her for that. She felt that a lot of people judged her for her decision of following her dreams. I felt extremely horrible for Holly because she was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Does she give up her dreams to take care of her brother and sister so they could have a real family or does she allow her brother and sister to at least have a secure home while she chased her dreams? It's tough. And it was extremely sad when Holly didn't think she deserved a family after what she did.

Overall, I really enjoyed the drama in this book. There are a lot of books out there that have drama for the sake of drama. It feels fake and feels like everything can be resolved if the two people just sat down and had a good conversation over a hot cup of tea. But Saving the Sheriff included drama that could not necessarily be fixed over Earl Grey. We had Cash who was stubborn and didn't want to think other people had other motives except to harm him or his child. We had Holly who would rather not hurt Cash anymore by being in his presence but somehow finds herself always being in his business because how could she give up on helping her best friend's daughter grow up?

Kadie did a fantastic job at conflict resolution as well. She hit the nail right on the head on untangling the webs and breaking down characters so they could see it in themselves to forgive each other and forgive themselves for their past. The conversations shared between characters were raw, gritty, and I saw it that real people could have the same emotional ones. Cash did not hold back at all when he spat out words to hurt Holly. (I love and hate him for that btw)

I guess what I didn't like about this book was that Cash was just this overwhelming jerk throughout the book and Holly kind of accepted the comments like it was true. We had a strong personality vs a weaker one. Don't get me wrong, I know that Cash had his reason for being a jerk and Holly had her reason for being a softie but ugh, Kadie broke my heart so many times when I saw how mean Cash was and how stubborn he was. CAN'T HE JUST PLAY NICE AND BE FRIENDS WITH EVERYONE?

But readers, I'm sure we all felt this way before. There's a healthy balance between super mean and mean but hot. When characters are super mean, it can be tiring for our minds because why would someone so nice like them now?

HOWEVER, we did see a lot of character growth and saw how Cash slowly tear down his walls and opened up to Holly and he was very sweet in the end so he's ok in my books after reading the ending.

MY RECOMMENDATION

I said it before and I'll say it again. Kadie is brilliant. You need to read her books. The Wrong Kind of Compatible, The Attraction Equation, and Saving the Sheriff should be your next 3 reads if you haven't read them already. I'm serious.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of Saving the Sheriff by Kadie Scott that I read and reviewed.
This book was a great book. I really enjoyed the story and look forward to the rest of the series.
Cash and Holly were both great and were really matched well. I also loved the backstory of Holly having a major crush on Cash in high school and her best friend stealing him and circumstances happening that give them a second chance.
This is one of those feel good books that you can's put down because you want to see what is going to happen next because both Cash and Holly are both set in their ways and can't see what is right in front of them and you really want them to get things right so you keep reading because the book is just that good. This is a great start to a series and I can't wait to see what happens to the rest of the Hill clan.
I am giving Saving the Sheriff five out of five stars.

This was my first book by Kadie Scott and I was not disappointed at all! I look forward to reading more of her books. Cash & Holly were great. They had to learn to leave the past in the past so that they could move forward. Kadie did a great job and touched my heart with her writing. I am looking forward to reading more of her books.

This is the first book I read by author Kadie Scott but ohhhh it will not be the last. I am already ready for the waiting for more books for this author from this series and looking at other books to read that she is written. Let me begin by saying that his author has a style of writing that is really like. It is smooth and almost like I am right there beside her as she is telling this story. The characters are so life like and true to life. They are not sweet or "Oh I love you fall in love with me", kind of writing but an honest to goodness this is what would happen in real time story. She had me in tears at times and also laughing in others.
Let me share just a peek into this story for you. We have best friends in school. Holly and Georgia always seem to be together but as different as night and day. Oh Yes I guess I better tell ya this is a small town outside in Texas so it's one of those everyone thinks they know all kind of towns. Holly's grandma raised her and her siblings until she passed. The Sheriff or Cash was married to Georgia until she passed away. BUT things are not always what they seem and when people hold secrets inside it causes problems. BIG problems... And there is a little girl in the picture too.
This is one of those books that had me shaking me head and taking me my kindle. It was so well written at times I forgot the characters were not real and I couldn't text time or look them up on facebook to talk to them about the situation.... seeing as it was one that was similar to mine 29 years ago. YES, This book is that well written.
Grab your copy and sit a spell. You will be so happy that you did.

Very interesting-and I am always a sucker for adorable kids in a story.

The love story of Holly and Cash was a slow dance. Holly has returned to her hometown after promising her friend to always look out for her daughter. This "friend" crushed Holly years ago by being the straw that broke the camel's back so to speak in Holly's feelings for sexy Cash Hill. (A pregnancy will do that after all.)

Cash makes due- marries Georgia and raises their daughter thinking he will have love with that marriage. However, after Georgia's death he finds out things that make him doubt everything- even the most precious thing in his life.

I really enjoyed both characters and their strength but most of all their chemistry. Fighting their attraction was sweet and fun and futile attempt to overcome what's meant to be.

This first book in this series makes me excited for the Hill brothers!

What you don't know can hurt. A lesson Cash learned the hard way. Now he's left to face the fall out of a secretive wife, a devastating loss and single parenthood. What happens when the person you trusted the most, betrays you in the worst way? Saving the Sheriff is a tale of second chances that begins with heartache and ends with forgiveness.

Saving the Sheriff (The Hills of Texas Book 1) by Kadie Scott
This is Sheriff Cash Hill and Holly Jensen’s story.

Cash and Holly have connections from the past. Holly has secretly had a crush on Cash but her best friend ends up pregnant by Cash and then married to him. Cash is now a widower raising his daughter.
Holly has moved back to town and ends up crossing paths with Cash.

An entertaining story with chemistry, miscommunications, and secrets.

I wish I could come up with a solid explanation of why this book worked to well for me but it just did. Maybe it fit the mood I was in last night but everything about it appealed to me- the writing, the setting, the story. I really liked the characters and even if their feelings were rushed and the conflict resolved a little too easily I did not care. I was on board.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Holly has always had a secret crush on Cash while growing up but then her best friend married him. Holly has now returned to town as the veterinarian and Cash is a single father and town sheriff. Cash's first wife died in a car accident, after writing a note to him that she was leaving him. Now begins the journey of falling in love between Cash and Holly that will bring out many emotions from the reader.

This is the first book in the series, can't wait to read more. This is a new author for me.

A nice read

This was my first time reading this author. I liked the characters and small town setting. Although Cash's wife Georgia, died, he had a beautiful little girl to show for it. Holly had been Georgia's best friend although they'd had a tiff when Georgia made a play for Cash, knowing Holly had feelings for him. Holly left, went away to college, leaving her own sister and brother in foster care, something she feels guilty about. Now, she's back, taking a position in town as the large animal vet. Can Holly and Cash overcome their differences? What will Cash do when he learns the secret Holly's carried around for years? Will they finally get their own happily ever after?

You'll have to read it to find out.

I found the story good but, for me personally, the ranching details/descriptions dragged on enough to lose my interest and the intimate scene was meh. The romantic (kissing) moments in the rest of the book were better written.

Boy, am I glad I picked this book up! I confess not too keen on that cover (I don’t think that represent the characters in the story well) but the blurb really intrigued me. This is only the second book of Kadie Scott’s I read and definitely my favorite so far!

This first entry to the “Hills of Texas” series is definitely off with a good start. It’s the story about forgiving oneself and be open to brighter possibilities. Saving the Sheriff got strong characters, engaging story, and equally heart-twisting and entertaining moments! I couldn’t help to be intrigued not only by the man and woman of the hour, but also other side characters with their own potential of stories (a rancher with a broken heart, a quiet horse farmer, a sunny yet enigmatic vet, a military guy who loved his sister, to name a few. I really really hope each of these guys got stories eventually). There’s gotta be more to them than shown here, I practically saw the signals bleeping whenever they appeared on page! But let’s focus on our main characters here: Cash Hill and Holly Jensen, the Sheriff and veterinarian of La Colina, Texas.

Our characters were tied through a late character who happens to be Cash’s wife and Holly’s best friend (although I swear if that woman’s still alive I’d kill her myself with the havoc she caused!!!). Cash had issue with trust (and loyalty) after he the last missive his wife left him and it impacted on how he saw Holly. Unbeknownst to Cash, Holly had a major crush on him when they had been teenagers. Her best friend’s got pregnant by (and then married to) Cash botched their friendship; and they only reconciled after Holly was introduced to Sophia (notice that I’m not mentioning Cash’s late wife. That’s how irked I am by her). Now Holly was back in La Colina, joining the vet clinic and looking after Sophia (and Cash) from afar.

The chemistry between the characters were off chart right from the start. On Holly’s part it’s likely what counted as unsuccessfully-suppressed eternal flame of her youth’s crush blossoming into love. Cash’s case is more complex than that; he disliked Holly as he thought she was no different than his wife but at the same time he’s drawn by the quiet and quirky vet.

These two were far from perfect characters. I even got so irritated at Cash for being so judgy, I expect no less than top notch groveling from him. Turns out, his way of groveling - or his grand gesture, more like - swept me off my feet in the touching most possible way (I wouldn’t spoil the fun so I’m just gonna say I sniffle over that “surprise”). As for Holly, she’s too conscious of her shortcomings, especially the guilt that eaten her away inside over past decisions.

The road that brought them together are long and winding; it’s tortured to watch them dance around each other in one step forward two steps behind sort of way. That saying - and even if that last chapter was a bit of a rush - Cash and Holly’s romance just wonderful to follow! With this sort of start the series made, I would absolutely look forward to the rest of the Hills stories. Those siblings are better watch out! :)

Sheriff Cash Hill adored his little daughter so much, he'd move heaven and earth for her and protect her with all his life. When his wife Georgia died, his adorable daughter Sophia  no longer smiled. Part of him died, too. Cash discovered his wife's infidelity when she died and because of that, he never wanted to fall in love nor trust a woman ever again.  Until Georgia's bestfriend Holly Jensen came back to town.  Knowing his wife's dirty little secret, Cash assumed the worst about Holly and deduced that she might had been privy to his wife's affair. Thus, he vowed never to trust Holly nor let her into their lives again.

Holly Jensen indeed knew something about her bestfriend, but it was something far more complicated than what Cash knew about. Something that involved someone else's DNA and her own broken heart. She couldn't even trust herself to love, not when she believed that all she could do was abandon everyone who came close to her heart.

I always find cowboys sexier than billionaires, I dunno why but I just couldn't resist the charms of these men with their horses. Well, Sheriff Cash isn't actually a cowboy in this story but his family has had more than their fair share in the rodeo and barrel circuits. Holly is more of a cowgirl than him, and that's alright with me. Holly had her own family issues to deal with, aside from her growing yet unrequited feelings for the Sheriff. Their story isn't some kind of romantic liaison of the hearts, but theirs grew from long-harbored secret crushes to enemies, from friends to more than partners between the sheets and hay.

If there's one thing or someone I really hated in the book, that's Georgia because of all the mess she left behind, and even started when she was still living. I really have no compassion with people who betray someone's trust, especially if it's done by a best friend. Georgia sure had some nerve dangling the one guy that her bestfriend Holly had loved when they were young. And now, Holly still had to carry the burden she'd left behind.

I love Holly so much. For me, she's strong and lovable and kind... almost too kind that her gentleness and warm was easily abused by other people. I can't say the same with Cash, who had been going back and forth with his feelings for Holly. I understand his hesitation to trust again, but man, once you've realized that you've been proven wrong, it's time to step up the game, right? Would love to meet Cash so I could share that little nugget of advice to him. Anyway, as I was saying, I really liked Holly and loved that she's gutsy and girly in her own hot-pink hair gypsy kind of way, something that other people fail to understand about her. Her chaste moments with Sophia were my favorite part of the book.

Saving the Sheriff by Kadie Scott will make you cry, laugh, swoon, sniff and giggle like a child. This book is so easy to read and the characters were a delightful bunch. A perfect read during this cold wintry nights.

Ok this is the second book by Kadie Scott that I have had the pleasure of reading.  I must say I am becoming a huge fan.  I already bought her last book the Attraction Equation to read.  I read and reviewed The Wrong Kind of Compatible not long ago and loved it!  So I was not surprised when I read this book, that I would love it.

In this story Sheriff Cash Hill is a single father of a sweet 4-year-old and a recent widower of a year now.  He is struggling through life and can't seem to find his happiness.  His daughter is suffering the same fate.  That is until his wife's best friend Holly moves to town.

Holly has moved back to her hometown as a favor to her dead best friend.  She promised Georgiana that she would look after her daughter Sophie should anything happen to her.  So she has moved back home after her college degree and gotten a job as the new vet lady who specializes in horses.  There is just one problem.  Cash avoids her like she is the plague.

Cash has tried to  avoid Holly but he can't seem to quit running into her.  He believes that she is just like his wife.  Full of secrets and ready to leave at the drop of a hat.  But he is so drawn to her.  When secrets do come out and she is the center of them he is angry and wants nothing to do with him.

Holly is in love with Cash.  She has been since she was a teenager.  But she stepped back when her best friend took him.  Now that she is back to look after Sophie she can't help but feel those feelings resurface.  But when a secret makes him angry, she loses all hope of any kind of relationship.  But Holly never deserved a family or to be loved anyway.

This book was a sweet and wonderful romantic read with a deliciously hot cowboy.  Who wouldn't love that right?!?  I love the way the story is written with a believable world and situations.  Kadie took her time telling the story of Cash and Holly and their story flowed smoothly.  A definite cozy up by the fire with a large glass of wine kind of story.

The characters in this book were wonderful.  So entertaining and fun.  I loved Holly!  She was so wonderful, even if she felt guilty and almost ruined her happiness because of that guilt.  Cash on the other hand was like a tennis match.  Back and forth, back and forth with his feelings.  I almost go whiplash.  I wanted to yell at him "get your ass together man!"  So imagine how happy it made me to finally see that happen.

So cozy on up and grab your wine, because you are in for a treat with this book.  You will not regret your decision to read it.  I promise. A Hallmark worthy moment.

Kadie keeps it up she will have a bright bright future in the book world.

This is my first book by Kadie Scott and I found it enjoyable. Holly and Cash are loosely connected by Georgia-Holly's best friend and Cash's late wife. Holly has been gone for years for schooling to become a veterinarian for larger animals. She made a promise to keep in touch with Georgia and Cash's young daughter. Both Cash and Holly have a lot of scars to deal with. Holly is trying to honor her promise, but Cash isn't too happy with her as unjustified as his feelings are. He also fights his attraction to her by being a grump, even though his family befriends the lonely Holly. They both have to come to terms with the past. Their HEA starts slowly as they become friends and begin to heal. I am happy that they finally found the real true love that they both deserve so that they can become a family with his sweet daughter. This is a sweet and touching small town romance and I hope to read more from Kadie Scott.

Holly had a huge crush on Cash back in high school. Then her best friends Georgia married him and they had a daughter. Holly has refused to think of Cash in that way since they married. Now Cash is a widower and Holly knows secrets that could destroy his family. Cash knows that having Holly back in town can only be trouble. She was Georgia's best friend, she probably knew what Georgia had planned before she died. Sometime you can find strength and forgiveness in the one person you would never expect. Sometimes rumors and predetermined ideas are wrong and you could miss out on happiness if you don't follow your own heart. The more these two try to avoid each other the stronger their chemistry becomes. Sometimes the heart just knows when it is time to move on and put your trust in someone again. Great read. Loved it!

I think Kadie Scott may be one of my new favorite authors. With Saving The Sheriff she does another great job in creating a wonderful romance with a twist and turn. Whereas The Wrong Kind of Compatible is just very funny, this story has a lot more depth and drama.

Holly is a large animal vet (you know, the tough doctors who feel inside cows up onto their armpits...) who returns home after her studies to work in the only veterinarian of La Colina. But returning home also means facing the people who condoned her for her actions years ago...

Sheriff Cash Hill is living a solitary live with his four-year-old little daughter Sophie. After his wife Georgia died a year ago, he found out she was planning on walking out on him to go back to the love of her life.

Since Georgia and Holly were thick as thieves, Cash figures that Holly knew about Georgia's wanting to leave him and therefore wants nothing to do with her. However, Holly has promised Georgia to look after her daughter and that is what Holly is intending to do. Even if it means confronting her high school crush Cash Hill. Because Georgia broke one BFF-rule: you never, ever, go after the man your BFF has her eye on. ..

So, Holly wants nothing to do with Cash, and Cash really doesn't want to be near Holly. But in a small town there is not always the option of staying out of each others hairs. And with little Sophie in the middle, there is bound to be an altercation...

When the love of Georgia's live enters the mix, the difficulties reach a new level. Can Holly tell Cash of the secrets she knows? Or is it better to have the secrets buried with the past? And what will the town think of Holly's past?

Heartbreaking, wonderful and keeping you up at night. Five out of five stars from me. With a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

Oh my!!! I loved, loved, loved Saving the Sheriff by Kadie Scott, book one in The Hills of Texas series. This book made me smile, laugh and even tear up. After a night of getting drunk Cash Hill hooked up with Georgia, which led to an unexpected pregnancy and marriage. On the day Georgia died, Sheriff Cash learned that she was leaving him for another man, one she'd loved since before their marriage. Would this single dad ever be able to trust another woman again, especially, Georgia’s best friend Holly Jensen? Holly returned to La Colina, Texas to work as the new large animal vet and to watch over her best friend’s daughter. Cash believes that Holly knew about Georgia and her secrets, enough so he that he does not trust her, he wants nothing to do with her, despite being attracted to her. Yet, Holly has brought laughter back to his little girl’s life, so there must be some good there. Cash and Holly are faced with a choice, stay locked in the past or allow their reluctance to be quieted by a passion that is hotter than Texas summer nights. Can these two learn to trust their own hearts and each other?

I loved reading this book and didn’t want to put this book down, reading it in one day. Ms. Scott told a wonderful story, drawing me into her books, making me forget the world around me. I highly recommend this book to other readers and look forward to the next book in the series.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Saving the Sheriff by Kadie Scott is a sweet sexy read that might could have also been titled Saving the Vet. It did seem to me that veterinarian, Holly Jensen was in more need of saving than Sheriff Cash Hill. These main characters have been hurt in the past by a likable but selfish friend in the past. You would want to hate her but then she reminds you of too many people that you actually know. What a reminder that our actions can touch others in profoundly negative ways.

There were several things that I enjoyed immensely in this story. Foremost were the supporting characters of Cash’s family, especially his daughter. What a wonderful ranching family. I would love to read his parents story as well as see his siblings receive their own HEA story. I liked Holly’s strong independent strength that allowed her to be successful in her chosen career as a large animal veterinarian. Also, I like how Holly’s family story panned out in the end.

I did find the pacing of the story to be slow but the ending to be too quick. I think that their relationship needed more time since Cash had been a man of deliberation throughout the book. This was my biggest objection with how quickly Cash’s feelings changed. However overall, it was an enjoyable read.

3.5 Stars
An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley.

Holly is back home in La Colina after college and is hoping that people can just let go of the past and the rumors. She knows that nothing will stop her from looking over he best friends daughter now that she's gone nothing including Cash. Cash is set to do anything and everything to avoid Holly she is everything he doesn't want or so he thinks. But when a secret is reviled he wonders if maybe there is more to her or if he is making the best decision to avoid her. Can they come together as friends and figure this all out or are they better left on their tasks at hand?

I thought this was a sweet love story. I think that the biggest thing that Holly needs to work through in this book is was finding a way to forgive herself for some decisions she had made in the past. She is this super strong women who has a huge caring heart and she loved helping those who needed help, animals and humans alike. I really enjoyed the banter between Holly, Will, Carter and Cash. Cash was completely likable and this story has a twist I can honestly say I haven't read in a book in a long time. This book does have adult scene, and some language. I really enjoyed reading this fun story and it was so worth the read.

This is a touching story not only about Sheriff Cash Hill and veterinarian Holly Jensen, but also about promises , friendships, losses, regrets, overcoming the past, secrets, family, forgiveness and the possibilities of finding love.
Cash is a widower and with precocious child , Sophie. While the child’s spirit has dimmed since the death of her mother, Cash’s distrust has grown and no longer enjoys happiness.
Holly , has recently moved back to town to become the equine and large animal vet. She had a crush on Cash in HS but her best friend ended up marrying him.
But she made a promise to Georgiana, Cash’s deceased wife and her best friend, that she would look after her daughter , Sophie.
I enjoyed the Hill family and the love that is evident amongst them.
I see many possibilities of stories about the Hill siblings.
I was gifted this copy by Netgalley and Tule Publishing.
The opinions expressed are solely my own.

I was looking for a Cowboy book to read. I found a good one along with an another new author Katie Scott! She has given us a very busy Story Line. It will keep you on your toes! Holly has come home a big animal Vet. She had a hard youth as her Gram died and she is older. She had to put her twin siblings, Noel and Kris, so she could go to College. She is home and tries to stay alone. Then she has visits from Cash, their Sheriff. He was married to her best friend, Georgia died in a car wreck and left secrets. Major Spoiler! Cash has a big family and his daughter, Sophie, who will be 5 soon. Cash blamed Holly for a lot of things that wasn't her. Now a friend is wanting to see if Sophie is his daughter. Do you think Marcus is the father? Sophie wants her own horse but will Cash let her? Will he ever forgive Holly? Will Holly ever see Noel and Kris again? Choose to check out this book! Don't let this story get away! Enjoy it!
