Just finished the main campaign of Borderlands yesterday, going to finish the DLC in the next few days. I AM SO READY!

Can't wait! If the stars align, and I don't get called in for work, might be able to marathon this over the weekend.

Wow not seeing a whole lot of love for Salvador in the thread. I kind of feel bad for the guy.
Edit: The two post above me make me look like a liar.

Well, I let my friends to pick whatever they want and they left Salvador to me, so I'm going to play as him, until I get my hand on Mechnomancer. :D

I just don't care for dual wielding personally, but at least he's no Brick. What a stupid character; let's make a guy whose ability is to punch things in a game about gun variety.

Didnt they start cracking down even harder on that after the whole russian fiasco? with that in mind is it really worth risking your account + all games for a single title?

only if you are trying to buy through a VPN, unlocking a game should not cause any issues. me and others have done it on numerous occasions with no trouble but its always your decision

So. That's a little rad.

Also: we know if the NVIDIA download codes come with the pre-order goodies?

EDIT: nm, they don't.

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.

I did the same with Darksiders 2 and Sleeping Dogs. No problems. Maybe they stopped carrying about it. I mean you bought the game so a ban would be pretty ridiculous.

Never played the first, How viable is melee in this game. Do you run around knifing people ala COD?

Brick was my main in the first game and I had no problems using melee all throughout the first playthrough and part of the next. Zer0 seems to have some good skills to make a nice melee character so I imagine it'll be the same for Borderlands 2. You'll probably be fine during the first time through but after that things will get tough and you'll mostly use guns, just like the first game. It got to the point where Brick's skill was used to save myself rather than running out and punching enemies.

Thing is though there have been steam threads about it and people losing accounts and getting the big N O to having their accounts reinstated. :/ Good to hear that it worked for some of you guys though with other newer titles.

Was looking things up a bit since am over in Japan where for some ungodly stupid fucking reason that even if we want the US ver the release date is Oct 30th or something in late Oct. Total bullshit personally.

Would it work if you had a relative back in the US unlock it from the states then you log back into your account in the ones country of residence?

I can't attest to New Game+, but I played through Borderlands 1 and all the dlc as melee brick and it worked just fine. Adam, our resident gearbox rep, seems to believe Zer0's melee tree will be fun too.

How viable do you guys think an almost pure-melee build for Zer0 would work? I never played as Lilith in BL1, so I don't know how similarly they would work.

Hmm, messing around with the Assassin skill tree and I can't choose between sniping and bloodshed. Bloodshed sounds really fun, but I don't know how I feel about focusing on melee in an FPS.

Bloodshed might be fun to solo with, but will probs go with sniping during co-op.

Lilith wasn't melee. Just based on the skill tree an all melee build for Zero seems like it would do fine. Personally I don't see the appeal in playing all melee though, since half of the fun in the first game was finding sweet guns to use.

It is exceptionally weak to some BL1 bosses and DLC bosses making it essentially a health regen power. The final
boss at the vault is extremely annoying as a Brick and same goes for Knoxx
I think that is why they gave Zer0's base power a damage increase to crits and sniper damage. That said nothing compared to how invincible Brick was, he could clear out a room of standard enemies with his fists so easily.

Phasewalk's offensive capability was walking up to enemies while invisible then meleeing, no?

As I mentioned above, I'm guessing it'll work fine for the first playthrough and once the game gets more difficult you'll probably not be using it as much. I could be totally wrong as I'm basing all of that on my experience with melee from the first game.

Oh my God, I can't decide on who to play first. I was gonna pick Axton, but Zer0 and Salvador look really great. These characters are already way more interesting than the original four vault hunters.

Liliths skills were a bit broken from the start, so most people just wound up doing the build that would set fuckers on fire everywhere. She was the walking deathmachine with that and could wipe out entire groups of enemies even before your buddies showed up to the scene.

I think Zero most def will be viable just due to the fact that he leaves a double allowing for you to get positioning on enemies, which was not as easily possible on your own in the first one.

Though as with anything it will be a tactical decision to get up close and personal as not exactly the best of ideas to run into a crowd of bad guys with guns when all you got is a butter knife regardless of how sharp it may be.

Can imagine hes going to be a great help against a single strong enemy target though rather than trying to go into a crowd and mix it up.

Papercuts

fired zero bullets in the orphanage.
I wonder how well melee focused Zer0 builds will be able to take out flying enemies. I recall borderlands 1 having a lot of them.
