What Lies Between Us by Felice Stevens is the fourth book in The Breakfast Club series. It’s numbered differently depending on where you look but I’m calling it the fourth book. This is a continuation of Zach Cohen and Sam Stein’s story who were featured in book two, Betting on Forever.

Sam and Zach are happier than they ever imagined together. They are madly in love and planning their wedding. Zach is not the man he used to be. He is so much more confident and assertive. But both men are still learning how to be a couple sharing both the good and the bad, and not trying to handle things on their own.

Zach has something special he wants to do for Sam for a wedding gift. So he made the decision on his own to go ahead with it, sure that Sam will be just as happy as he is when he finds out about it. At the same time, Zach’s mom has really come out of her shell, finally ready to re-enter the dating world. As much as Zach is happy that she is finally socially active, he is struggling just a bit with her dating life.

Sam also has a secret. He is faced with a health issue but it’s so close to their wedding day, he can’t bring himself to tell Zach about it and worry him. Sam is forty two years old, ten years older than Zach, and he’s worried he can’t be the man Zach deserves.

I loved these two and was so happy to jump back into their lives and catch up with them. Of course, we get a little bit of Marcus and Julian as well. Sam and Zach just need to learn how to share and not keep things hidden. They are still learning how to be a “we” instead of a “me!” You know, though, that their love will shine through and give them the strength they need to find their way.

This short novella packed a solid punch.

I'm anticipating a sweet extended HEA with Zach and Sam's wedding, more lovey dovey scenes and catching up with Julian and Marcus. But I got so much more than that.

Zach is busy preparing for their upcoming beach wedding, together with a big surprise wedding present for Sam (against Julian and Marcus' advise), while he was also feeling skeptical about his mother new-found love interest.

Meanwhile, Sam's life took a hard hit when he found out something about himself. Dealing with the stress of impending wedding and the new bomb being dropped, Sam was not acting like himself.

It was a whole load of drama for these two lovebirds but an enjoyable nonetheless. Who doesn't have secrets, right? We succumb to white lies when it comes to our love ones due to our best intentions. Is great to see how Zach and Sam came to an understanding towards the end and bare their souls to each other.

Le sigh. I shall miss the Breakfast Club Trio so damn much.

5+ Stars!! HEA for Sam & Zach!!
This is book 4 in The Breakfast Club Series and it's a feel good full of love book!!

So, it's no secret that I have a love of All of Felice Stevens Books; however, Sam and Zach are probably one of my favorite couples from her stories, so this book was like a moment of bliss for me!

It should be noted, right away, this is a novella from The Breakfast Club series, it needs to be read after you read the first three books or you will be missing out and maybe confused. When we left Second to None, we knew that Sam and Zach's wedding was close..this novella takes us through the final wedding plans and to the main event. We also get to see Sam close out some important "pre-Zach" areas of his life and watch Zach come to terms with his moms new busy social calendar. Through all of this, Zach and Sam each have something they are keeping from the other. Zach is keeping his secret as a way to surprise Sam, and Sam...well, he is keeping his secret because he is scared and he is afraid to lose Zach. When the secrets come out, as they always do..watching these two come to grips and realize that the most important thing is their love for each other which is based on honesty between them. The guys realize that they both may have taken the other for granted and vow to never do it again.

We get to see all the Breakfast Club Characters from each book and this novella really puts a feel good end to the series. Greedy me, however...is officially asking for more from these guys...I love them and can only Hope Felice sees fit to bring them back every now and then!!

Excellent Book!! Excellent Series!!!

Slick's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

I have loved Felice Stevens' Breakfast Club series from the start so I was very excited to have a follow up story on two of the characters from that series. With their wedding coming up soon Zach and Sam are busier than ever and while it is apparent that the love between them runs deep, they are both keeping some secrets that threaten to destroy them. While What Lies Between Us is every bit as sexy as I've come to expect from this author, but this story is also emotional and complex.

I never tire of seeing two people in love and planning a wedding and while Zach and Sam are very much on the same page with that aspect of their lives Zach is struggling with his mother's new found dating freedom while planning a huge surprise for Sam. Sam is also still struggling with the guilt he feels for the incident that made him leave the police force and the one that put his partner in the hospital. On top of that he's hiding something big from Zach and while he has good intentions of sharing it with him he never seems to find the right time.

I loved watching these two work through their issues and love that they both have people in their corners to offer help and advice even when they don't always take it. Most of all I enjoyed seeing all the players from the books and love the special relationship they all share.

A Valentine's Day wedding, some shocking discoveries and a whole lot of sexy loving made What Lies Between Us a fantastic addition to this series.

THIS ! BEYOND MY EXPECTATIONS OF A SHORT STORY !

This is Zach and Sam's story. As we know that they have plan to get married.
But is life as easy as it seems? With flowers and rainbow?
I never thought Sam has 'that kind of secret' he keep from Zach. I mean, couples? Fiancee? Ring any bells guys?
Sam and Zach are definitely need a good communication skills for couple. I can give them a course, for free.
But I'm glad they're finally find out that you can't just love someone, but can't share your secrets, your worries and all.
I'm sad for what happened to Sam, but, yeah some of us need to learn after, not before.
I cried with Sam, I can feel his worries about his future with Zach.
But, hey, life is gambling. We just need to be a good gambler to survive.
I'm glad they can manage it and win!
Oh and also , our guys, Marcus and Julian are there in the wedding.
It's a beauty meaningful story. And Felice Stevens tells us real fine !

What Lies Between is a fun little novella for fans of The Breakfast Club series. As it gives us more insight into my favourite couple, I was happy to devour this.

Although I did not enjoy What Lies Between us as much as I enjoyed the main books in the series, it’s my favourite extra for the series. We get all the sweetness and steaminess of the main books with this one, along with drama and fun to keep us entertained throughout.

For those who enjoyed the relationship between Zach and Sam, this is a great catch-up.

This novella was a wonderful way to catch up with my favorite couple in the series, Sam and Zach, as they plan their wedding day. These two are so good together, but like any couple things aren't always perfect. Secrets, angst, a big scare and the general craziness of planning a wedding provide the drama. There is, of course, a wedding and a HEA to wrap it all up nicely. All the men in the series are back and a few new ones too in Jonah and Gideon who I'm looking forward to seeing more of in the future.

This novella continues the excellence that is Felice Stevens the author. All I can say is that I hope she continues to prolifically publish more novels in this and her others series as well as new one. After all, at the rate I am going I will have read through everything she has currently available and will have to be satisfied rereading until new stuff is published. I especially love the fact that in the last few books she has allowed the characters from her other series or standalone novels to pop up in this series, i.e. Micah & Josh along with Jonah & Gideon! Here's to hopefully a future of numerous more stories of love and life!

Felice Stevens is a great storyteller. This is a novella in her breakfast club series. IT centers around Sam and Zach. It is the set in the time where they are working towards their wedding. Sam finds out something and wants to protect Zack so he doesn't tell him. When it might be too late the truth comes out but Zack has his own secret from Sam and they work towards the HEA they deserve. This was a quick read and I found toward the end it moved alittle to fast but over all a good read.

really hate it when couples fight because they are keeping secrets from each other just so they can "protect" their partners. i hate it when novellas do these type of tropes. i mean i get it. not everything is sunshine and rainbows after getting their hea but its just kinda repetitive and lousy. but i enjoyed it because i love the mcs. so im generous with the rating i guess.

5 beautiful stars!! Felice Stevens has done it again, she’s made me fall in love with a series, I swore I’d never love more!

In this book we’re back revisiting Sam and Zach. Zach and Sam are now living together and Zach is happily planning their wedding and trying to get over his horrible past. Sam although ready to start his life with Zach, is haunted by his old habits that are now bubbling up to the surface. Can these too get over their issues and make it to the altar??

This beautiful book is a quick read with so much heart! Your heart pulls for Zach and Sam and you want to root for them as you read! I love this series more than words can say! Great job!

I am such a fan of Felice Stevens, and this is another great example of her ability to take realism and incorporate it into an addition to an existing novel. We first met Sam and Zach in Betting on Forever, and this novella continues their story. I must admit I didn’t read the blurb before reading the novella, so I thought this was going to be strictly about the wedding and perhaps the honeymoon. Wow - I could not have been more wrong!

In preparing for their wedding, they have each discovered something new - Sam about himself, and Zach about their future. However, in classic male form, neither discusses their discoveries with each other. I was at first surprised at the direction Ms. Stevens took with this in light of the main book, but then, upon further thought, I realized that this is precisely what could very well happen! Both thinking they’re doing the right thing, when in actuality they’ve both got their heads inserted rectally. This happens in real life all the time - why on earth would it not happen in a book?! True?? True!

For being a novella, the pace was not at all rushed, which I truly appreciated. The chemistry is well-established but subdued in this piece, and the character development is on point. The plot wasn’t particularly my cup of tea, but that is a personal preference rather than anything against Ms. Stevens. This is 4.5 stars of success!

“You know I can’t sleep without you anymore.”
Oh Sam you just know exactly what to say. I fell more in love with these men reading this quick novella. Zach being the sweet man he is, is concerned about his mom’s new founded dating life, as well as his impending wedding day.. add to that he is keeping something from Sam. But Sam isn’t without faults, he is also keeping something from Zach and it’s killing him. These two need to figure out a way to communicate better and hopefully before the wedding. I really enjoyed seeing more of these two, and I can’t wait to see what Ms. Stevens will continue to develop for this group of amazing friends!

What a wonderful visit with Zach and Sam. These two are probably the absolute SWEETEST of Felice's men - which doesn't mean they're not sexy!! Catching up with them a bit later in their relationship, we see that even the most in love run into ye olde issues of what NOT do to in order to make your relationship work.

Never fear, with her usual deft hand Felice writes them out of it and into their well deserved wedding (yaaaay!), but not without some angsty moments (I wanted to hug and slap them EQUALLY so hard)... and also not without her signature shmoop (I swear I melt with these guys when they melt for each other) and definitely NOT without some sexy, burn-up-the-sheets hot moments.

Though a novella, Zach and Sam got a full fledged story, a solid HEA, and this reader got her temporary fix - emphasis on temporary. I always want more from Felice. Always.

So... anyone else think ex-manwhore Marcus and his newfound family have more story to tell?

Wow!! What a great conclusion to Zach and Sam's story. I absolutely loved this glimpse into the planning of the Big Day, and watching Zach and Sam realize that secrets and lies, or rather, omissions, have a way of coming back to haunt you when you least expect it. I absolutely loved seeing Zach and Sam work towards understanding that a relationship is not always easy, but when you love someone you work hard, fight for them, and love each other even more fiercely. It also was so good to see Zach continuing to grow personally, standing up for himself, and realizing that he is worth all of the happiness that has been bestowed upon him. Thank you so much, Felice Stevens, for sharing this special journey of Zach and Sam's with us readers. It truly was a great journey.

I received the novella as an arc.

I loved catching up with Sam and Zach

Zach is busy planning the wedding and keeping his own secret from Sam. Sam is keeping a large secret from Zach to avoid Zach from worrying

These two learn that in their life and future marriage they need to share what is happening in their lives and attack it as a couple.

I loved the catching up, the wedding, oh geeze the whole book

Thank you Felice for another 5 star book

I loved this short novel in the series.
Its the story of Sam and Zach's wedding. The others from the series play small cameos.
Also a story of poor communication where Sam is sick but doesn't tell Zach and then Zach buys a house and doesn't tell Sam.
I have loved this series and don't know if this is going to be the last book in the series but at least the guys are left in a good place.

This is a novella that goes with the series. This book is once again about Sam and Zack. They are getting ready to get married however both are keeping secrets. Those secrets could end their relationship if they let it. Sam is dealing with something and doesn’t want to Zack because he doesn’t want to worry him even more. Zack thinks he is doing the right thing. That he is just giving Sam what they both want. When both their secrets come out neither are prepared for what happens. Zack is forced to face what he hid. Sam’s secret is scarier than Zack’s secret. Sam must face that Zack would always be there and come to turns with what is happening to him. I was so excited to get to read about Sam and Zack again. Zack’s mom begins to play a bigger part as well. I am glad that she is getting her life back finally. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Wedding bells for Zach and Sam

Book 4 in the Breakfast Club series (technically 3.1, I think), I read this as part of the Breakfast Club Collection, which includes the three main books of the Breakfast Club series, plus four extras (novellas or short stories) that are wonderful follow-ups. This is the follow up for Zach and Sam leading up to their wedding (make sure to read Betting on Forever first).

Just because you’re engaged, doesn’t mean you don’t have to continue to work on your relationship, and both Zach and Sam are having some trouble adjusting to their new normal, if for very different reasons. They’re also both keeping secrets, but they have each other as well as their friends to lean on. It takes some time, but eventually they work through their issues to get to the hea they deserve. 5 stars

Another lovely story. This is a such a great series! This another story about Sam and Zach as they approach their wedding day. What a ride! I wondered for a while whether or not our guys would pull through. But they did, with flying colors.

The found family in this series is what makes it special. The guys are there for each other, no question. Sam and Zach have a special kind of chemistry that makes them a really great couple. I’ve enjoyed the two stories about them every much.

Zach & Sam (again)

Lies and secrets can come between even the strongest of couples. In the midst of planning their wedding, Sam keeps a serious secret and Zach does something he thinks is for the best but doesn’t consult Sam. Their love is strong though and once they come clean, they know they can get married and have their happily ever after together. Loved this series ending and looking forward to reading Gideon’s story.

MM romance between a web developer and a former police officer in a group of gay male friends whose lives are examined in this series.
Here, the two men are planning a marriage, but both are keeping secrets. One wants his gift to be a surprise, and the other doesn't want to worry his partner about health issues. It all comes to a head suddenly, but they work it out buy being open with each other, on the advice of friends and family.
