Better Breakfast, Better you - A Giveaway

This is a compensated review by BlogHer and Jimmy Dean, however the opinions and feelings expressed here are my own.

Well, now that Christmas is past us, you all know what is coming next. Yes, that would be the New Year and with that everyone always comes up with those lovely New Year's Resolutions. Usually I don't do them, but this year I have decided it is time to get this flabby baby belly into shape (Yes, I know Easton is 10 months old now, but I just haven't cared enough to do anything about it!)

So, when BlogHer contacted me about trying out the Jimmy Dean D-Lights, I knew that this was for me! I couldn't wait to get to the store and check out what they had to offer and was very pleasantly surprised at the selection. I am usually not a big on the breakfast sausage, but when I saw that they had Turkey Bacon, now that I can do!!! So I set out to try this D-Light out. And it was delicious!

Now, for those pesky New Year's Resolutions that I am going to try and not break before January 15 like I usually do! I need to make better choices about my health this year and not sit around!
  • Make it a point to eat breakfast. Usually I just grab a breakfast bar on the way out the door, but I need to make it a point to really sit down and eat. I know if I start out the day with something like Jimmy Dean D-Lights, it will make my day even better.
  • Take a walk. EmmyKate loves to get out and ride her bike, so I can take Easton for a walk in the stroller while she is going on her bike ride. It will be fun for all of us!
  • Do sit-ups. Yuck, but I think this is the only way that I am going to get rid of this flabbiness in my tummy! This is something that I can do in the evening while we are watching TV instead of vegging out and blankly staring at the screen! Ha!
  • Eat foods with more protein in them. I am always dragging by the end of the day, and I know a little protein, especially in the morning, will give me that boast that I need. I tend to just eat a little something like breakfast bar or toast, and that is not giving me what I need to get through the day. Plus, I know that EmmyKate needs something a little more than her standard sugar-cinnamon toast! She has meltdowns when she gets hungry, so I know I need to start getting some protein in her as soon as she wakes up. So getting a good start to my day with the
Jimmy Dean D-Lights that have between 15 and 23 grams of protein.
Now, all of these things are activities that I can get my family involved in. I want to make this an enjoyable experience, but something that all of us are going to benefit from. We need to get back in shape so that Scott and I don't feel so worn down. And I know that getting on board with Jimmy Dean D-Lights is going to do just the thing!

Last year when I was trying to lose weight, I was big on buying low cal snack foods (like 100 Calorie Packs). But they don't fill me up very much and I just feel unhealthy eating all those empty calorie junk foods, so this year I'm planning on eating fruits, veggies, and more nutrient dense foods instead.

I have resolved to actually eat breakfast in the morning. Usually I just run out of the house and don’t even think about it. So by mid-morning, I am starving and I have to go the vending machine to get something to snack on. So by eating a healthy breakfast every day, I should be able to curb all of the snacking that I do.

I know a better breakfast can make a better day for me...I usually ditch it all together or eat so late that it messes up my eating schedule and metabolism. To better help this, I need to eat MORE throughout the day, Healthy foods...starting with breakfast. I know the "starve" is not good and the whole DIET thing I am SO tired of. With kids in school I don't worry about feeding myself "normal" anymore until dinner. I'd like to get to a point this year that I can be on track, eat like a normal woman again...where food is just FOOD and not an enemy, enjoy it and let be a tool to improve my rotten health. After that, I can work on getting my MOVE on again and stop being a couch slouch. Having chronic illness doesn't mean you should stop working on yourself just because you have been "dealt" a rotten hand...it means you have to work harder and better at keeping healthy!
Hope I can put these better choices into ACTION!

thanks!

First I have to say the pictures of your kids are ADORABLE. Love that you're already incorporating a healthy lifestyle for them.

As for be, some better choices I am going to make are:
1) eating break. No excuses, no exceptions. Ok eating a better breakfast, because you know chocolate milk out the door is great but no dice hehe.
2) Get Organized. I've been a mess all my life. Not a sloppy mess just, I toss things about and push things around and then spend an entire weekend working myself out of the weeds. So i'm making an effort to get organize and STAY organized.
3) Get in touch with friends, not just a text or a call but lunch, or brunch or coffee or a full on fancy date! :)

Cheers!

I've started to exercise on a daily basis vs. the once a month or so routine that I have had for quite a while. Finding that it's really helping me to feel better.

After years of resolving to simply eat less to try to lose weight (and never being successful), this year I changed my resolution to add to my diet; specifically more fiber. I know I don’t get enough fiber in my diet, so I’m adding high fiber foods to each meal. It is much easier to keep this resolution, and I actually do feel better physically.

This year I have added more protein to my diet throughout the day and added some heart and lung pumping cardio to my exercise. So far so good, since I have lost 10 lbs. I resolve to keep it and keep you posted!!

We like breakfast sausage so one healthy thing we'll try is Jimmy Dean D-lights and see if it is a better choice for us.
