Joel Embiid and Hassan Whiteside Engage in Twitter Beef
October 14, 2017Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid and Miami Heat big man Hassan Whiteside competed against each other on the court Friday at Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Then, the battle spilled onto social media.
After the Sixers' 119-95 preseason victory, Embiid ripped Whiteside for his aggressive play and used analytics to drive home an unflattering point about the Heat center. He ended with a light-hearted jab at Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant:
Whiteside also took a look at statistics and referenced Embiid's durability issues since he entered the league in 2014 as the third overall pick:
Embiid switched over to Instagram and, using his physical location, left a parting shot for Whiteside as he thanked the fans in Kansas City:
For those looking forward to another battle between Embiid and Whiteside, the Sixers and Heat will play four games during the 2017-18 regular season. Their first contest is Feb. 2 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia and will air on ESPN at 8 p.m. ET.
UPDATE: Saturday, Oct. 14 at 11:10 a.m.
Whiteside took the feud to yet another social-media platform by preaching the importance of modesty in a Snapchat story.
At this rate, Embiid may respond with verbal jabs on LinkedIn before Whiteside dusts off his MySpace page for his retort.
