This was a nice read. The plot itself was well-told, too far-fetched but enjoyable. The story was filled with action-packed fight scenes, dangerous situations, and suspenseful moments that kept me hooked and on the edge of my seat the whole way through.

What worked for me: The suspense part.

What didn’t work for me: The romance part.

I probably set my hopes too high for this part since it was a second chance romance, which is my thing. I didn’t feel the chemistry between Owen and Natalie at all. Besides, I wasn’t satisfied with the groveling part. I think it wasn’t emotional enough. A little more drama please!

Many things were off in this book, like the interrogation scene, where Natalie seduced the Russian consulate in order to get the truth out of him. The whole scene didn’t sit well with me. Everything went too smoothly, too easily, and my initial thoughts were that it had to be a trap. It was odd that nobody came looking for this man. Not only was it strange, but it was also very unconvincing.

However, I liked how the book ended. It left me curious as to what might have happened to Cullen and Mia. There are so many unanswered questions that I seriously want to know.

By the way, this was a fast-paced, action-packed, and entertaining read. I enjoyed it overall.

3.5 - "Looks like we're going on a mission..." Stars!

Donna Grant’s first foray in to the romantic suspense genre was for me in the main a success, The Sons of Texas series, offers up some well-loved tropes around the Loughman brothers and the woman who will eventually tame them, and I am interested to see where the story goes for this family.

The only two issues I had with this book were the beginning, in that you are bombarded with an awful lot of characters from the off, and it takes a little time to get used to who is who, and the actions of Natalie, towards the end . This is a story firmly set in the escapist fiction category as well, who knew that such a hotbed of espionage and villainy existed in the heart of Texas.

"This is a shit storm of epic proportions."

There is no denying that this is an author that can pull any sort of story-line together, this is a family that has pretty much had everything thrown at them, and murder by their enemies seems to be the main theme of how most of the Loughman family tree in recent years has been whittled down. But that doesn’t stop Owen, Wyatt and Cullen all congregating at the family ranch, after being pulled back to the US from their various branches of the Armed Forces, to investigate the capturing of their father, after he had successfully fled from Russia with a potential world changing bio-weapon prototype.

The Loughman men were a brand all their own. They were as rugged as the Texas countryside, as fierce as the Texas weather, and as constant as the sun rising in the east.

There is a huge amount going on with the plot around their father, but each brother has his own issues going on at the same time, Owen’s is that he has come home to the woman he left behind fourteen years ago, it doesn’t take long for Natalie to realize that the feelings she had for Owen are still there, and Owen isn’t slow on deciding that he isn’t leaving her behind a second time.

She belonged with him. Always had. Always would.

Unfortunately, Natalie’s translating work at the Russian Embassy, also makes her a target in relation to the last mission Owens father was on, and the threat against her is as much of a situation for him and his brothers to deal with as the search for their missing father.

And that is just the tip of the iceberg of the plot for this one, as a series with a long running story-line, it is good to see that the next book, The Protector is due for release in January, because with so much going on it is certainly a story that as a reader you want to keep fresh in your mind as it develops, and I am looking to see what adventures Donna has in store for the Loughman brothers as the series expands.

I WANTED to like this book. However, it fell victim both to some glaring research errors and the bane of the romantic suspense genre: mental lusting and sex at the most inappropriate times.

When I saw The Hero was about Russia and espionage, I got excited and wary in equal parts, because that’s a subject I know far too much about, and far too often Kremlin politics and aggression are glossed over and romanticised. I became a bit more hopeful when I realised that wasn’t the way the story was going (a nice surprise seeing as how a Putin apologist just won the US election!), but the mistakes drove me to distraction.

In the world, a country’s government is in the national capital city. Also located in national capitals are the embassies.

So why in the world was this book’s heroine working at “the Russian embassy in Dallas”? This was as wrong as putting the White House in Dallas. Yes, some bigger countries also have consulates (not embassies) in other cities, but even the Russian consulate in Texas is located in Houston.

The problem is that – and no matter how obsessed authors and publishers are with setting books in Texas – international espionage just doesn’t work when it’s taking place on a Texan ranch. I’m tired of the Texan cowboy trope anyway, but when political intrigue starts happening in such a location, it’s time for the romance genre to get a shake-up.

This was not my only problem, however. The thing that turns people off the romantic suspense subgenre the most is when characters start lusting after each other and having sex in terrible situations. And that is the case here from start to finish.

The book begins with hero and heroine walking into the house of family members/surrogate family members. The family has been murdered, and there’s blood everywhere.
Their reaction? An erection on his part and hard nipples on hers upon seeing each other again, followed by lots of thoughts about sex and relationships.

This sort of inappropriate behaviour continues throughout the whole book. I can’t like people whose reaction to death and violence is to fall straight into bed and worry about whether or not they might get back together.

In the end, I was disappointed with a book I really wanted to like. There was potential to deal with some real-world issues here, and going in I didn’t realise the entire story was going to be set on a farm. Political intrigue does not belong there.

This is a second chance romance so nothing really new there but the action in this book is outstanding and this is not a book you would want to stop with. This first book doesn’t leave you with a cliffhanger BUT it doesn’t answer all of the questions that Need to be answered. There is clearly much more to learn and figure out so continuing with this Sons of Texas series is a must!!

The Hero is the first book in the Sons of Texas series. All I know it's a military / second chance romance but I didn't expect it will be more of romantic suspense, which is one of my favorite subgenre. The story is about ex-high school sweethearts Natalie Dixon and Owen Loughman.

This couple broke up after their high school graduation when Owen left Texas to be part of US Navy Seal. After fourteen years, he was pulled from his mission to go back home. He and his brothers, Wyatt and Cullen knew something isn't right. It turns out their father, Orrin was abducted by the Russians. The Loughman brothers' mission is to rescue their father and keep the biochemical weapon safe. Owen didn't expect his ex-lover (the woman he still loves) Natalie is involve in this mission and her life is at stake too. It's challenging for Natalie to work with Owen especially when it took years for her to recover from a heartbreak.

Donna Grant has a good writing style. It's written in third person and I like she's keen on details. I like the concept of undercover spies and I think the author focuses more on that than the romance aspect. However, the plot thickens too slow and it becomes less exciting. For the romance aspect, it flopped as the characters lacked chemistry. One time they're lovey-dovey then *poof* NA-DA! I feel like it's brushed off all of a sudden. I hope the sequel is better because this book fell flat.

Final rating: 2.5 / 5 stars

***** 4 Stars *****

To be honest, The Hero felt like an action film. There's some mystery, action, and romance. Everything was well balanced, and I really enjoyed it.

The series is about the Loughman brothers. Wyatt is the oldest. Owen is in the middle. And Cullen is the youngest. All three of them are in the military. And all of them have been avoiding their home in Texas because of their dark past. When their father gets captured during a mission, the brothers are called in for help.

This book is about Owen. When he finds out how his high school sweetheart is involved with the mission, his heart starts beating again. He left her for a reason. And she deserves more than the life he can provide her.

Natalie's heart was in pieces when Owen left her. It took years to put her life together, but she did it. She learned to survive without him or any other man. But when she sees Owen, she knows that she can't keep him out of her heart.

The romance between the characters is sweet and touching. Owen is a true hero and does whatever needs to be done to protect Natalie.

My favorite part of this story is that it takes place in Dallas, Hillsboro, and Waco. My backyard. The story even involves Baylor University. (Sic'em bears!!!) It was so easy for me to visualize the cities and campus.

In this interesting series opener, author Donna Grant introduces the Loughman family, a father and three sons, all dedicated military men whom have sworn to serve and protect the United States of America.

However, the patriarch Orrin has been kidnapped and the sons, Wyatt, Owen and Cullen have been tasked by the government to find and rescue him. The plot unfolds revealing a dastardly plan for world domination that boasts enemies with access into the highest levels of multiple governments.
This book had the Russians versus United States rivalry, a secret illuminati-ish group, Texans who own a horse ranch, an estranged family and a second chance at love.

This particular installment focused on the middle son, Owen, as he tries to discover who kidnapped his father as well as coming to terms with the damaged relationship with his first love Natalie Dixon. The pace of this story was pretty quick as the story evolved rapidly. The author kept us in the dark for most of the novel regarding the true identity of the bad guys. Instead, the reader was exposed to why the Loughman family was estranged and why Owen and Natalie broke up fourteen years go.
I liked the heroine as she had tried her best to move on with her life. She had inner strength and she was clearly intelligent. Owen was clearly a man who excelled at his job as a navy seal. He also appears to be an honorable man, though I was perplexed as to why three decent men treated their father so dreadfully for so long. I hope the author spends time addressing the sub plot because it did lower my esteem of the Loughman sons.
I enjoyed this story because this plot was interesting and I was curious to find out more about the weapon, the enemy and the family. I hope the author continues to develop the plot and characters with the same pace in Book 2.

My first Donna Grant! I couldn't resist the cover for The Hero. Goodness it's yummy! I mean, seriously pet-able! lol And it was a decent read, too, though I did have a couple quibbles.

What I Liked:

--The set up. Three military brothers suddenly being brought home to Texas-- after over a decade away-- to help find their estranged father who had been kidnapped by terrorists along with a bioweapon.

--And the characters. While there was nothing overly remarkable about any of them they were still nice to spend time with and all good people.

--It was fairly quick paced. There's not a lot of down time as they deal with the bad guys and trying to figure out the missing pieces of the puzzle on who's behind kidnapping their dad and how to find him.

--The heroine held her shit together when things went sideways. She didn't have any TSTL moments or irrational bits. It had me throwing my hands in the air going YES!!!!! lol

What I Struggled With:

--The romance relied almost entirely on them having been in love 14 years earlier. Then after a bad break up and not seeing each other once in 14 years they're magically in love and planning the future together within like 2 days. Erms.

--No condoms even though they were just "hooking up" and neither wanting anything serious.

---There wasn't enough resolution for me. The romance concluded but the series arc just wasn't totally satisfying. Nothing really resolved on that. They got their piece of the puzzle and basically handed things off to the next sibling and his heroine.

---There were bits I just didn't feel were well thought out. Or, I guess, you could say where the writing wasn't tight? Like they have a ranch with numerous animals and ranch hands and after a death they give the ranch hands time off. Erms. Who's going to care for all of the animals since hero/heroine are off saving the world? Or bits that really felt loose then after the fact they'd come in with an explanation on how it happened. It felt like it relied too much on convenience for explaining some things in order for other things to happen.

Okay. so it sounds like I really hated it. But I didn't. It was a decent enough read but squarely in the average category for me. That is not a horrible place to be and I liked it enough that I do want to read book two and see where things go for this group of brothers. Overall it was a nice diversion even with the quibbles.

When I heard that Donna Grant was going to be writing Contemporary Romance, I grew excited. This series has a big emphasis on action and suspense so I can hardly say no to an alpha hero. However, in reading three chapters of the book, I knew something was going wrong when I kept scratching my head in confusion. I persisted though because I’ve read every single one of Donna Grant’s books for years and I wanted to like this one too. But the problem was…I just couldn’t.

First off, there’s quite of a lot of glaring mistakes in the book. As I read, I kept wondering if the editor or author actually believed that any of this was possible because in the real world, where this book is supposed to be set, none of this stuff feels like it would actually happen. Also, I found it odd that the brothers hardly have contact with one another but seem okay with working together on a job immediately. Plus, when the heroine shows up, no one seems to be surprised. There are a lot of leaps of faith in this book and although I can typically get on board with Grant’s stuff, I just couldn’t with this one. The initial set up of the book is just all over the place. Some scenes are short to create intrigue but they come across as confusing and irrelevant instead.

All this stuff might work in a Paranormal Romance because you can make stuff up and it’ll still be okay. But not in Contemporary Romance. Even though it’s fiction, there are still rules you need to follow. I was really disappointed in this.

If you can overlook the obvious errors in this book then maybe you’ll enjoy it, but I couldn’t get on board with it, which is a shame because I usually love all of Grant’s books. I won’t be reading the next book in the series.

Family, danger and second chances…

Intrigue, suspense and romance - the trifecta I was just in the mood for. Cue up an author whose historical romances I adore and I was excited to start this new military adventure.

Owen and Natalie had complicated history. Oh yes, complex, heated and, ultimately, painful history. They are brought together again by circumstances that quickly escalate their reunion into a dangerous race against time…

“It’s like I never learned to let go. All those feelings are back again.”

With danger nipping at their heels, love seemed to be a distraction for both of them, one they could ill-afford but couldn’t seem to stay away from. There were fences to mend and much to work through even as they dodged bullets and threats all around them. They weren’t alone in their search for truth as Owen’s family went all in to help solve a puzzle that affected them all.

There was a lot to enjoy in this first instalment of this series, with characters that were engaging and a plot that was anything but quiet. While I may not have embraced the characters as much as I’d hoped, I’m looking forward to the next instalment which will carry on a mission that is far from over… ~ Diane, 3.5 stars

The Hero is the first book in the "Sons of Texas" series by Donna Grant. I normally stick with this author's paranormal works but every time I pick up a contemporary or suspense, they always end up resonating with me more. I was delighted to have found an audiobook for this one here. I have to say that I adored this one, now it didn't make it to a five star read, however, it made for such a solid listen. If you love audiobooks, then I can't recommend this one enough for you. I was so pulled into this story and it really takes off quickly. You won't want to put this one down. I really enjoyed the way in which this author implemented this story here and the ways in which she developed the serial plot. I was so intrigued to see where this one would go. And man it left me on the edge of my seat all the way through. I just adored the writing style in which the author had ended up writing this one. I was so drawn into the danger side of the plot and how our characters would win the day. But they do and its done so brilliantly. I also really enjoyed the second chance element to the romance. This is one of my favorite tropes and even though the reason they broke up oroginally just didn't seem too realistic for me, I just took it for what it was in the story and the author seemed to make it work for me for the most part. I was mostly intrigued about the suspense side of the plot, the romance was good, but I was really wanting to know about the plot line with the Russians and their dad and like crossing my fingers that the author wouldn't kill him off haha But I found that the way this side of the story was built was really well done and I can't wait to grab up book 2!!!

DNF. I was sucked in by the covers and blurbs and great reviews, and I got the whole series on sale, but I am sadly underwhelmed. It started great but then started waning for me. I find moments of mortal danger to be really implausible times for rhapsodizing about someone's lips--or any other body part. The black ops plot is far-fetched, though I was prepared to go along with it. But the most dangerous weapon known to man, intercepted for safekeeping and transported...through the US Postal Service??? I don't think so. I tried. I read far past that nugget, but I'm just not feeling it. I've learned my lesson: Read the first book before you commit to the series!

4.25 stars (you don't get 5 stars when you leave people hanging in the wind)

I like Ms. Grant's PNR stories, so thought I'd give this one a try.

Natalie and Owen were high school sweethearts. Then Owen walked away from her to join the military beacuse he thought he couldn't have both. Now years later Owen and his brothers are brought home to find their father and a new super virus. Owen and Nat's chemistry is still there, and they finally give in to it while dodging nasty Russians who are looking for the virus and trying to kill Natalie. There is a happily ever after...for now. His two brothers are in hiding with women important to finding their father, and their father is still being held captive.

To Whom It May Concern (publisher, author, editors)....you need to do better editing. She has blonde hair when they're having sex and then two chapters later it's light brown hair. She puts her hands on his shoulders and he pushes the straps off her nightgown and it falls to the ground....

I received a copy from Netgalley.

This is a CLIFFHANGER! Nowhere in the blurb does it say this. Since it involves 3 brothers, it will most likely take 2 more books to get the conclusion. Maybe 3 if the dad gets an HFA or HEA. Not cool. This is not the only problem I had.

Owen, a Navy SEAL, his two brothers, Wyatt and Cullen, also military men, have all been pulled from their current missions and sent home. When the brothers arrive home, they discover their aunt and uncle have been killed and their dad is missing. They find Natalie, Owen’s high school girlfriend, and Callie, a family friend there. It is immediately deducted that Wyatt and Callie have a past. The brothers soon realize their dad was a covert operator for the government sent to retrieve biological warfare from Russia when he disappeared. They are expected to pick up the trail.

Natalie’s heart was broken when Owen left her to enter the military after high school graduation. She went to college, got a degree in linguistics, and went to Russia to work in their embassy. She leaves there to go to work in the Russian embassy in Texas, gets caught up in something beyond her capabilities, and ends up with a target on her back.

I understand “creative liberties” but they need to be believable. There is no way there would be a Russian Embassy in Texas. In addition, desire, lust and sex happen at inappropriate times. Yes, even military men are human, but it just doesn’t seem plausible, given the situations, they would react the way Owen does to his libido. Natalie is standing in a room saturated with blood, her nipples harden, and she yearns for Owen’s kiss? Natalie has light brown hair then blonde hair then later light brown hair. I was frustrated as I read this book, then I discovered it was a cliffhanger! The next books are predictable: Cullen and Mia, Wyatt and Callie, the brothers repairing their relationship with their dad.

I absolutely loved this book and cannot wait to read book two.

A family was torn apart by the murder of their mother and they've all gone their separate ways since only to be returned by the military they serve, to find the father they can't stand, and the biological weapon he stole on a clandestine mission.

This first book focuses on Owen and Natalie while running simultaneously with with others. Owen walled away from Natalie fourteen years ago, on graduation night, and hasn't seen it heard from her since. Her certainly doesn't expect to see her today. He arrived from a helicopter ride provided by our government without being told any he was being pulled from a mission, where he was going, or for what. When he steps off the helicopter the past and present collide like a punch to the gut.

Donna Grant skillfully blends political espionage and second-chance romance in this thrilling read.

The cover and blurb attracted my attention immediately and I was delighted when I got the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book.

Owen and Natalie were high school sweethearts with their futures all mapped out. Until Owen dropped Natalie straight after graduation without a proper explanation. It's been fourteen years since they last met one another and now fate has thrown them together in the midst of a crisis. It becomes clear that neither of them ever got over the other and that they are still crazy in love. Natalie tries to keep her distance to protect her heart while Owen realizes he made a terrible mistake in letting her go and he wants a do-over.

Owen is forced into the role of protector when Natalie's job in the Russian Embassy drags her into the middle of an international biological warfare scandal. She faces up to things rather pragmatically and I enjoyed her character immensely. Owen was swoon-worthy in the extreme and who doesn't love a hot, muscle-bound Navy-SEAL?

Owen's family background is quite dysfunctional and none of the brothers have spoken in years. The situation involving their father brings them back together. Wyatt and Cullen seem to have interesting backstories too and I look forward to reading their books.

I thought the mix of political intrigue and romance was well balanced. There are times when Owen and Natalie get it on that seemed a bit ridiculous with the threat looming over them but it's fiction so I just went with it. The romance scenes were well-written and I totally felt the strong connection between our couple and was rooting for them to get their HEA.

Donna is a great writer and the book flowed well - consistency was smooth.

In summary, this was a great read and a fab start to this interesting series. I look forward to reading The Protector next.

Donna Grant took paranormal romance by storm with several of her one of a kind series, like the Dark Warriors and Dragon Kings. Let me tell you she has done it again with her new contemporary series Sons of Texas! The Hero never slows down, so many twists and turns that weaves an intoxicating tale of love!
Danger lurks at every corner. Government conspiracies and secret organizations. A bioweapon that if in the wrong hands could destroy the world! Russian Hitman. Second chances not just for love, but for family. Non stop action, keeps you on the edge of your seat and reading late into the night! You are going to fall in love & lust with the Loughman men!

Owen Loughman has devoted his life to being a Navy Seal. He has risked it all to bravely fight for his county. His only regret was leaving behind his high school sweetheart Natalie. As fate would have it he may get a second chance if only he can keep her alive because his father has dragged them all into a fight for their lives.
Natalie Dixon has never forgot about the boy who broke her heart. Even after all the years apart, the feelings she thought she put behind her surge to the surface and the man he has become takes her breath away. How will she stand a chance of resisting his seduction. He is also the only thing standing between her and certain death. There is one thing she knows for certain, that she trusts him with her life. Now can she learn to trust him again with her heart.
I can't say enough how fantastic this book was and I am so excited for the next one!

I received an ARC for an honest review.

This is my first time reading Donna Grant and I can't believe I haven't read her sooner I honestly still can't get over how good this was and just how much I loved it. It's bursting seriously bursting with nail-biting action, sexual chemistry, second chance romance and packed to the brim with male hotness. The pure danger and pulse pounding moments in this book are enough to have you speed reading, I mean I literally did not want to put this down it was so thrilling.

I mean I really don't want to give anything away all I can say is the Hero follows Owen and Natalie as they try to discover who has kidnapped Owens father and what his father managed to obtain on his last mission that has put all there lives at risk.

This book really is so so worth any readers time it was just such a thrilling roller coaster ride full of twists and turns and pulse pounding action plus loads of chemistry between Natalie and Owen seriously they just sizzled in this. I will say this book is a cliffhanger not in the sense that you're left wondering but more in the sense that the next book The Protector is a continuation of this one there is three bothers so expect three stories before the whole story is finished. (seriously hope that made sense. ) I can see this series being a firm favourite of mine.

I received a copy from the author via netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 Stars

I liked this overall, but I was not a big fan of the end and the fact that the story isn't finished. I don't mind it when a story goes over more than one book, as long as the principal arc in which the characters were involved is resolved. In this case, it wasn't.

There were also some issues with plotting and pacing, some changes in hair color from one point in the story to the next that was often enough that I think it may be a part of the final.

Overall, though, I liked this one enough to be curious as to what happens next, which is the ultimate goal of the book, and a book that is the beginning of the series.

Owen and Natalie were compelling, their attraction brought you into the story and was strong enough that the suspense and action elements of the story did not detract from it.

The secondary characters, the brothers and Callie, were also interesting and were necessary for the story itself. So, while there were some pacing issues, the first part of this dragged a bit for me, and some editing issues, the characters, the story and the overall plotting of the story itself were strong enough that I was able to easily get past the flaws in the story and enjoy it.

I recommend this book and am looking forward to the next one!

I really enjoyed the suspense and military bits of this book, the romance however? Not so much
While the is a second chances kinda story it felt a bit to insta or maybe it was just to lusty for my taste?
The whole one and only, completing my soul vibe is never my thing and the entire romance is built on that. Add to that several makeup sessions that were in the most inopportune of times and its too over the top for my taste. The end of the romance felt rushed as well.

The story is no where near the end, while each books seems to be based on one brothers romance, the suspense has not been solved. We got a couple of nuggets so far. Lots of speculating later I can't wait to find out what will happen in the next books

The character building is solid. I like the group and I can't wait to read more about them. Each character is interesting and feels authentic.
To be honest I'm kinda wish the next book would be Callie and Wyatts story- cause frankly I'm dying to find out what happened between them before and what will happen now
Looking forward to the next installment

To my great disappointment, this book was a waste of money. I realize I’m way past these superficial books, with female lead characters, going all gooey and swooning at the first sight of broad-shouldered men. In this case, the lead female is Natalie Dixon, who it appears has a prior relationship with Navy seal, Owen Loughman.
I couldn't appreciate this Natalie, nor the other characters. She's supposed to be a smart lady, a great linguist, speaking Italian and Russian, and at the same time, she didn't have that much good sense. It feels a bit incompatible.
It goes without saying I’m not reading the next books in this series. Also, good to note is that the voice of the narrator of audio version, Carly Robins, had this pitch that was rather difficult to listen to.

This one was odd for me. From the start I didn't care for the brothers, they came off too cocky and I hated how having to go home and in that horrible situation it seemed like it was the worst thing that could happen to them. Even when the boys realized that there was indeed trouble they seemed put out. After about 3 hours I couldn't listen any more, this one just wasn't for me.

ARC received via Netgalley for an honest review

Donna Grant is a new to me author, but she had me at SEAL.

I am not going to lie, whilst this book started with a bang, it too me a while to get into the swing of the story.

But once I was in there, it was full throttle action.

I adored our MCs Own and Natalie, the unresolved feelings between them, the tension ramping up as their story continued.

There is mystery, suspense and drama all rolled into one book, and I never knew what was going to happen next.

And just when I thought we were going to get answers... boom - we were cliffied!

But it is not too long until the next book, The Protector is with us. Can't wait to see what happens with the Loughman family next.

Natalie Dixon has a meeting in Dallas with Oren Loughman the father of Owen Loughman, the man she fell in love with years and broke her heart when he ended things when they graduated high school. Now working for the Russian embassy an innocuous question from Oren about Ragnarok opens up a Pandora’s box,

Owen heads home to Dallas after being gone for six years when he arrives at his Uncle and Aunt’s house and finds them murdered. Owen and his two brothers believe their father’s dangerous missions in espionage are somehow to blame for the murders, just like the death of their mother years before.

Fate brings Natalie and Owen back together after 14 years and puts Natalie in the cross hairs of danger, the very reason he broke things off with her all those years ago.

Buckle up, this mystery/thriller roller coaster ride will leave you breathless, this audiobook never lets up, murder, mortal hand to hand combat, kidnapping, espionage, scorching hot sex, and three patriotic alpha brothers, what more can a girl ask for? The Hero, nicely wraps up Owen and Natalie’s story arc, but it’s just the beginning of the Loughman family saga, I’m excited to hear what happens next with Owen’s two brothers who have some serious daddy issues to solve.

Carly Robin narrates and she does a good job voicing all of the characters in this book, she expertly expresses the emotions of the scenes, without being over the top, the audio production of this book is of the highest quality.

This audiobook was gifted to me exchange for an unbiased review!

Full review to come but some quick thoughts...this book started off okay but suffered from the inappropriate turn ons that drove me batty so it didn't end well for me. Too much happened that made me roll my eyes around the room so yeah, it was a disappointing read for me which is too bad because hot damn, that cover is the bomb!

I won this book from a Goodreads giveaway. Thank you Goodreads and St. Martin's Press for introducing me to Donna Grant. I loved the international intrigue and military plots of the story. The characters are strong and the story keeps you on the edge of your seat.
