Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In September 2017 my friends, family and I would like to complete the 3 peak challenge in memory of my Dad. ✨ This is a climb across 3 mountains Penyghent, Whernside and Ingleborough usually done under 12 hours. The route is 24 miles long and includes 5,200ft ascent.
So why am I doing this?
As most of you know I lost my dad on December 1st 2016. My dad served in the army for 10 years until he suffered an injury to his spine resulting in his service coming to an end. The spinal injury triggered dad to have osteoporosis, a brittle bone disease, but his case was rare and meant his body deteriorated over time at a quicker rate. He went from a 6 ft 2 frame, strong soldier to around 5ft, able to break bones from something as simple as coughing. As you can imagine, if your ribs crush down, your lungs cannot expand the way they would normally which lead to dads lung disease and eventual struggle. My dad never once complained about pain though I saw him take endless tablets every day. It never stopped him getting on with life. He always talked about how he wished he could be back fit and healthy climbing/ running mountains again and for us to make the most of our health..So I thought this challenge would be perfect to do & give back to a good cause at the same time.
Although dad received a war pension that was the end of his working career at 26 years old, he wasn't able to get a "normal" job ever again as no one would take the risk of insuring him. So I would like to raise some money for the charity "help for heroes" so that maybe others will have a little more support following their service in the forces.
If you would like to donate please do every little helps. & if you would like to join us on this challenge you're more than welcome to! (If you bring snacks)
Thankyou so much❤️
