Description

I was reading a blog recently that discussed the importance of gratitude for us grown-ups. It talked about how it’s downright good for our health to take time from each day to find things we are grateful for.

I wondered how this might look in my classroom and decided to go for it! I had a discussion with my students about being grateful for even the smallest things and how it can fill us with happiness to take time to acknowledge them.

There are all kinds of read-alouds available that serve as a wonderful springboard to this initiative. I used a funny one, it’s called the "Book of Big Brothers". The kids loved it because it’s an hilarious book with a great message about family. We also read "The Secret of Saying Thanks". I’m going to leave my bulletin board up for a month or so. My students are enjoying this very much because they get to read the wonderful ways they have brightened their classmates’ day. It’s a real community builder!

If you have any suggestions for other read-alouds that would work, would you share them with other visitors in the comments section?

Thanks so much for visiting my store. I hope your students enjoy this activity as much as mine do.

If you do go ahead with this bulletin board and it’s a hit, please send me a photo! My students would love to see them too!

Please note: this printable does not include the "We Are Grateful" letters seen in the photos. This product consists of the "gratitude tickets" you see on the bulletin board.
