Kadie attempted to find a practical career related to her favorite pastime by earning a degree in English Rhetoric (Technical Writing) and an MBA. However, she swiftly discovered that writing without imagination is not nearly as fun as writing with it.

Review at Of Pens and Pages.

FBI Agent Max Carter needs a fake girlfriend to bring to his family's place for Christmas, and he's found the one in new temporary neighbor Gina Castillo. When he catches her in the act of sneaking a dog in the building, he keeps her secret and helps her hide it from the landlord.

He knows Gina is perfect for the role—she needs his help and she'll be out of his life once Gina's friend and the original person leasing one the room in the building comes back. But being the meticulous person that he is, Max proposes a dry run at one work event to see if they can successfully pull off the whole fauxmance scheme.

They spend time together to make the fake relationship look realistic, and they realize they actually enjoy each other's company, even if Max and Gina are complete opposites. While Max has a stable job and lives a well-controlled life, Gina works multiple part-time jobs and enjoys chaos and strives in it. While one is left-brained with his numbers, the other is right-brained with her art.

Each day they spend together blurs the line between fake and real, and Max and Gina don't know if they can have a real relationship with their differences in life.

I thought the whole FBI thing has more to it than it was shown, so I was a bit disappointed with that. It also bothered me that Gina just assumed Max would be okay that she'd decorate his place when they barely knew each other. I think she was overstepping her bounds.

Max obviously has symptoms of OCD, and I felt bad for him that his family made fun of him and his 'quirks', which, unfortunately, happens more often than what we'd like to people suffering from mental disorders. He's not used to letting go of control, and it was nice to see him take baby steps with Gina.

Overall, I still enjoyed The Attraction Equation. It had low angst and drama, and lots of sweet and steamy moments between Gina and Max. Plus, there's a cute dog named T-Bone!

If you're looking for a quick but fun fake relationship romance between two people with seemingly opposite personalities, you might enjoy The Attraction Equation.

Tropes: Fake Relationship, Neighbors, Opposites Attract

This book was pretty much that palate-cleansing type. Light, sweet, a bit sexy. The characters were fine. He's an FBI agent, who apparently wants to keep it from his fake relationship girlfriend, something I'm still not sure I understand. He's got OCD and control issues and they are dealt with only on the surface-and described only on the surface in a sense. That's a shame, and I don't like it.

That said, it was exactly what I was looking for...a book to plow through while I'm not in a concentration mode.

It was just a little puppy, how much trouble could it be to hold on to it for a month before Christmas when Gina could surprise her younger brother? Sure, the apartment she was subletting has a strict no pets policy, but come on… Day one and Gina is busted sneaking the pup out take care of business by the most gorgeous and intimidating man she has ever seen, but he doesn’t look like a rule breaker. And THAT is when things went from bad to worse…or certainly something unlike the carefree Gina has ever experienced.

Blackmail, Max Carter is blackmailing her. If he keeps quiet about the dog, Gina must pretend to be his girlfriend until after Christmas. So what could possibly be wrong with this guy that he can’t get a girlfriend? Too much starch in his shirts? Too anal retentive about his life?

THE ATTRACTION EQUATION by Kadie Scott is a comedic look at opposites attracting, interfering mothers and what happens when two people are not completely honest with each other, even as they enact their romantic subterfuge.

I have to say, Max was a little difficult to deal with at times, but Gina was like a breath of fresh air, from her quirky ways to her larger-than –life heart!

Get ready to ring in the Holidays with peels of laughter, sweet moments of love and madcap puppy chases, all while watching one sedate and “ordered” man have his world reorganized by the chaos of love!

A wonderful and fun read, because what can be sweeter than love...and Puppies!

I received an ARC edition from Kadie Scott. This is my voluntary review.

Fed up with his scheming, matchmaking mama's antics in trying to find him the love of his life, FBI agent Max Carter decides to take action after Gina Castillo gives him the ideal opportunity to bribe her into being his fake girlfriend, the girlfriend he'd recently told his Mum he had! He really doesn't want to hurt his mother's feelings so thinks proving he has a girlfriend will put an end to her antics . . . . As usual, the best laid plans can always have unforeseen consequences!

Take on totally OCD man and put him with someone who lives in organised chaos and there are bound to be some hilarious moments! This is a laugh out loud story, with great chemistry between the lead characters, plenty of hilarious moments, especially those involving T-bone! It is a delightful, festive read, just right for putting you into the festive mood. I have no hesitation in highly recommending this to anyone who enjoys quirky characters in hilarious scenarios, where they definitely didn't plan to fall in love but cupid had his own ideas!

I requested and received a copy of this book, via NetGalley. This review is my honest opinion after choosing to read it.

Everyone should know by now how much I love the fake boyfriend/girlfriend trope in romance novels, so it should come as no surprise that when I read the synopsis for The Attraction Equation by Kadie Scott, I knew I had to read it.

Max Carter, FBI agent is great with numbers, but not so much with women. He follows a few simple rules when it comes to the opposite sex. There is no sleeping over, no personal information given and it’s for one night only. So, when his family keeps trying to set him up with women on Thanksgiving, he lies and says he has a girlfriend. Lo and behold his family wants to meet said girlfriend on Christmas. What’s a man like Max to do under these circumstances? Find a fake girlfriend to pretend to be his real girlfriend at Christmas. How hard can that be?

Gina Castillo is a vibrant woman full of color, for her rules were made to be broken. Hence, why she is sneaking in a dog to the apartment building with a no pets policy. Unlucky for her, she is caught by Max and instead of being ratted out, Gina is blackmailed into becoming his fake girlfriend over the holidays. But the more Gina gets to know Max she is hoping their fake relationship might turn into the real thing. Can Gina bring some color into Max’s orderly life or are they doomed right from the start?

On the surface, Max and Gina are very very opposite. Max is controlled and orderly whereas Gina is complete chaos. Gina lives life on her own terms and Max lives life according to careful planning. But,when they start spending time together, Max can’t help but feel an attraction to Gina even though he does not want to. Throw in a little dog that captures the heart of both of them and you have an intense opposites attract romance between two characters I have both come to love.

Max is not easily likable at first. He is rigid, stuffy, and follows his own set of rules. It is quite easy to see he is suffering through OCD which I will admit I don’t see portrayed in many romance books. So, this was really interesting to me. Sometimes, I found myself frustrated with Max, but then I would think back to my own quirks that might annoy other people, so in a way it also made Max relatable to me. Through all of Max’s own quirkiness you can still see he is a good and loving man especially when it comes to his family, the way he treats Gina and also in his handling of T-Bone, the dog Gina is giving to her brother come Christmas time. Gina I absolutely loved! She has a heart of gold, loves her family even if she didn’t grow up in the best of circumstances, and genuinely cares for other people. She also never tries to change Max and is understanding to what he is going through and tries to help him along the way. Gina is definitely the perfect match for Max.

I felt the flow of the story moved at a steady pace and never lulled for me at all. I found myself immersed in this cute romance and teetered back and forth from “awww how sweet” moments and “omg can I smack Max upside the head” moments. But through it all, I loved seeing Gina throw in some chaos in Max’s orderly world and show him that there is much more to life than numbers and control.

As a side note, I really want to thank the author for T-Bone being adopted through a shelter instead of a pet store. I am a huge shelter advocate and even though this story is purely fictional, it warmed my heart to see where T-Bone was rescued from.

The Attraction Equation is a fun opposites attract romance set around the holidays which made it a perfect read for me. If you enjoy an opposites attract story with a fake girlfriend trope, then you will love this story just as much as I have.

ARC REVIEW

This is the second book in Kadie Scott's Love Undercover series, but can be read as a standalone novel. It's a quick read with very funny characters and humorous situations. I always enjoy a good opposites attract Rom-Com what makes it even better is the touch of Christmas and an adorable dog named T-Bone.

Max dug himself in a hole when he lied to his family about having a girlfriend over Thanksgiving dinner. He was so tired of their constant meddling and matchmaking he said the first thing that came to mind, now his parents are expecting her to come to Christmas dinner and Max needs to find someone to be his fake girlfriend with no expectations.

Gina Castillo just needed a place to hide the perfect Christmas present ever, unfortunately her best friend's apartment where she staying temporarily is strictly no pets allowed. She almost got away with it until sexy neighbor next door caught her red handed. She just knows he's going to turn her in instead he blackmails her into being his fake girlfriend, with a trial run at his office Christmas Party.

Gina may seem flighty working as Santa's Helper and a gift wrapper for Macy's but what she really wants is to design sets for Broadway production, and she's good too but her creative method tends to be a little chaotic. Max is a by the number, by the rules kind of guy who needs to have things done a certain way, Gina should be the last person he is attracted to but something about her and that silly dog that he misses when they're not around. The attraction is just making his simple life complicated and it's messing up how he thinks things should be done. Gina takes it all in stride she gets his need to control everything and she pushes his buttons, makes him come out of his comfort zone all for his own good. But Max doesn't see it that way and he messes up big time. Can he pull his head out of his ass and get Gina back or did he blow it?

Overall, this is one that I can see as a Holiday movie, it's funny and emotional and has an absolutely adorable dog. It's all good.

Plot: 4/5
Characterisation: 4/5
Prose: 4/5
How much I enjoyed it: 4/5

Put together an OCD FBI agent and a I-have-the-mess-under-control set designer, there's bound to be fireworks and not necessarily the good kind. The lets-pretend-to-be-a-relationship just makes it funny when they're pissed at each other but trying to be lovey in front of others.

Received in exchange for a honest review.

This was fun and light hearted. Max is sweet but has serious OCD so someone like Gina really got under his skin with her carefree haphazard ways.

Max was always one that lived for rules and no one ever tried to figure it out. Instead they made fun of him. It is only Gina who helps him and helps to get him to relax himself some. Gina is the neighbor that dreams. She lives in the moment and acts from the heart before thinking of the consequences. When she brings a dog into a no dog apartment is when things go awry for her and Max.

It is the dog that brings Gina into Max’s world. Like a whirlwind this dog and Gina turn Max’s world upside down. Only it takes him awhile to realize this because of fear. with how his family is about his OCD he fears that no one would accept him as Gina thinks no one will accept her vivacious carefree ways as well. But Gina does accept max and help him only at times Max feels like he is her project. So how do they end up together? Their story begins with Max’s desperation to get his mom to stop fixing him up, a precocious dog and blackmail about said dog. From there they explore each others likes and dislikes and begin to fall in love.

We see them learn about what they want and where they want to be. We see them make mistakes and become newer versions of themselves. Max grounds Gina more and she helps Max relax more. They are opposites but go well together. The attraction between them is insane but sizzles on the pages. Each outing they have warms your heart. Do they get on each others nerves? Yes and that makes it more fun.

A story that is fun and sweet. One where we see someone fall in love but be afraid and finally do a grand gesture to change things. A story where opposites not only attract but help one another and fall in love. This isn’t a story with angst or high drama but one that has family and love and silliness and fun with characters and a dog you like right away.

Max, an FBI agent, can take on the bad guys he hunts without any hesitation, yet, when faced with his matchmaking mom, he can't tell her the truth. He doesn't want a relationship, or anything similar, as distractions are against his own personal rules. So, to avoid telling her this, and dealing with any potential attempts, he informs his mom he has a girlfriend. Unfortunately, he now has to make his fib a reality and bring her to Christmas dinner. And when the opportunity to "coerce" a beautiful tenant in his apartment building arises, he takes it.

Gina follows the rules, except for this one time, which happens to be right now. Her building does not allow for pets, however, as she's giving her younger brother a dog as his present, something she knows is the perfect gift for him. Unfortunately, Max, a sexy stickler for the rules, happens to catch her breaking them, and uses it to his advantage...pretend to be his girlfriend for the holidays, or else.

What neither expected was the mutual attraction they must portray becoming real, and both of them wanting to make it so, regardless of how their arrangement started.

Will Max and Gina convince his mom that they're real so she'll stop bugging Max about being single? Will Gina be able to give her brother the dog? What happens when their charade is revealed? Will Max and Gina take a chance and start a real relationship? Is a future together possible?

I LOVED this book!

What do you get when you mix an anal FBI agent who lives life by the rules with a rule breaker?? A fantastic read is what you get!! Max has lied to his family about having a girlfriend so they don't try to set him up for the millionth time. Something clicks when he runs into Gina, who is ending her dog into the pet free apartment she is subletting. Max blackmails Gina to be his pretend girlfriend.

Gina is fun and flighty and nothing like Max. But that is what make her so appealing to him. She also accepts Max for all his quirkiness. Max is like a FBI version of Sheldon Cooper.

I enjoyed this read so much. I loved the way the author told the story. It made me fall in love with the characters! I can't wait to read more book by her!

Max Carter is a FBI agent and lives by a set of rules, his rules. He has is coffee at a certain time, the same place, and so on. So on thanksgiving at his parents’ house he panics and tells his mother that for Christmas he is bringing a date. His girlfriend. Not having one does not seem important to him at this moment, just leaving and dealing with it all later. Once back at his apartment building he notices someone by his neighbor’s doors and he realizes that she has a dog hiding under her coat. Gina Castillo is the opposite of Max and is first breaking the apartment’s rule of no animals. Worried about losing her friends lease, she is happy at the time that Max comes to her aide. Well that is until he offers her a deal for not ratting her out. She calls it blackmail, though he is good looking. He needs a fake girlfriend for Christmas. Her first response is what is wrong with you, do you have halitosis, or some other wired disease. When he assures him does not she agrees. What he does not expect is what is going to happen to his life with this women who actually gets him to try the coffee from a cart in central park. That is just one of many changes that scare Max, but will it be enough for him to finally see another person for who they are. This is a fun and fast paced story with very good characters. I really liked both of the lead characters a lot and the author did a great job playing them together. A wonderful story. I got this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. FBI agent Max Carter likes his neatly planned life, he follows his own set of rules and does not deviate. The only hiccup in his life is a family that is determined to match make. Max doesn't want a girlfriend, fiancee, or wife in the near future. However when another plan goes awry Max makes up a girlfriend, now he needs to find one.

Gina Castillo is house sitting and she has also found the perfect gift for her younger brother, a dog. She just has to keep him hidden until Christmas but she is caught by her neighbor. Max decides to use the rule breaker to his own advantage. Gina is like a whirlwind though and Max isn't sure he can keep this strictly platonic. Does a crazy plan possibly lead to something more?

This was wonderful, I laughed pretty hard. I liked that Max was high strung and Gina was more of a free spirit. If your looking for a laugh this is the book to pick up. Charming.

Gina and Max might have come together for the wrong reasons but the instant attraction that they feel for one another could not be faked. Gina may have only agreed to be Max’s fake girlfriend in order to keep her dog and her best friends apartment but the feelings that she starts to develop for Max couldn’t be more real. Max may have blackmailed Gina to play his fake girlfriend to keep his mother off his back but his unexpected feelings towards Gina and him being able to be himself makes him realize that this fake relationship isn’t so fake anymore. I love the “Love Undercover” series and I can’t wait until the next book. This is a must read!

I had so much fun reading this book and I absolutely adored it! He's stoic, controlled, orderly. She's carefree, free spirited, and chaos yet Gina and Max are perfect together.

Max has gotten himself into a real fix with his family. Tired of their relentless matchmaking he blurts out that he has a girlfriend. Now the family wants to meet her! Then opportunity strikes. After stumbling upon the woman apartment sitting for his neighbor smuggling a dog into the building he blackmails her into posing as his girlfriend over the holidays with his family. The plan seems perfect until he really gets to know Gina and the amount of chaos she brings to his very orderly life. By then it's too late!

A great read and one I definitely recommend.

FBI agent Max Carter is a stickler for rules, especially since in his job distractions can lead to mistakes being made. So, when he tells his family he has a girlfriend, he's finds himself in trouble, especially since it's a lie. However, when he finds his next door neighbor hiding a pet that she shouldn't have living with her, Max decides he can keep her secret as long as she poses as his girlfriend. Yet, the more time they spend together, the more Max finds himself wanting the relationship he never imagined he'd want. Will Max be able to win Gina's heart, or will the truth come out and he loses her forever?

What a very entertaining, fast-paced, fantastic read Ms. Scott has delivered in this second book of her Love Undercover series encompassing the opposites attract trope; highly enjoyable banter that had me loving this couple's growing relationship; and two wonderful main characters that challenge each other, especially since the hero needs his world shaken up instead of always needing to be in control. The way this story started had me sympathizing with the hero since it seems his family don't understand why he likes his life the way it is. Will they ever be able to understand him? However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine are introduced to each other that had me completely captivated by this story, as the heroine gets under the hero's skin straight away with what happens. Will he be understanding of her situation or will he use it to his advantage?

Both the main characters entertained me from start to finish with their back stories; their growing relationship; and everything else they go through on their journey to happy ever after such as what they face with their families, which shows that the hero's family believes he needs fixing and the only way they think that will happen is if he has a woman in his life. While the heroine, it seems as if she's more responsible than her mother. Moreover, the heroine is kind, caring, brings a lot of fun to the story with the jobs she has and I liked how determined she was to help the hero, despite how Max managed to get her to be his fake girlfriend to start with. While the hero, he's a stickler for rules and I could understand why he gets frustrated with his family and them interfering in his life, especially when it comes to his love life. Will his family finally understand that he doesn't need their matchmaking skills? I also liked how the heroine challenged the hero. Will he be able to handle not being in control all the time?

Overall, Ms. Scott has delivered another delightful and completely satisfying read where the chemistry between this couple was intense; the romance full of passion when they finally got intimate physically; and the ending had me loving the hero more than I already did because the hero realizes how much he needs Gina in his life. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up nicely because of the cute surprise the hero had for the heroine. I would recommend The Attraction Equation by Kadie Scott, if you enjoy the opposites attract trope or books by authors Sarah Ballance, Maggie Kelley, Stefanie London and Cindi Madsen.

MY RATING: 4.5/5
I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This is my second book from Kadie Scott and after falling absolutely in love with 'The Wrong Kind of Compatible' which is the first book in the Love Undercover series, I was excited to hear about this new release!

And the hype definitely lived up to it. Ever since the first book, I fell in love with Max as a character. Who doesn't love a best friend who is always there for you and there to tell you to get your act together and go for the girl?

Unlike The Wrong Kind of Compatible, The Attraction Equation follows a simpler plot and troupe of fake relationship involving overbearing parents and a man who just can't seem to commit. Instead of putting bad guys to jail and having a sense of mystery like with Drew and Cassie, Max and Gina follows a fluffier plot of just trying to survive the holidays.

Image result for hayley atwell gifs

They are complete opposites and follow the rule of opposites attract. Max has OCD tendencies and are addressed throughout the book while Gina agrees with colours, spontaneity, and generally fun. Just imagine 'Stranger than Fiction' featuring Will Farrel and Maggie Gyllenhaal. The chemistry between them was absolutely memorizing and adorable to watch because you can see Max becoming softer and softer towards Gina. You can also see him bending the rules a bit here and there. And it breaks your heart when he pulls back because he's so afraid of change. He doesn't want to see himself get hurt nor does he want Gina to hurt either once their fake relationship turns more serious.

Image result for ryan reynolds gifs

Anyways, the reason why this book isn't a perfect 5/5 is because there's nothing special about this one that makes it unique. It seems pretty straight forward. We have a cynical guy who we know will fall for the quirky girl he shouldn't be attracted to and we have the family that pushes them together.

MY RECOMMENDATION:

Overall, the book was solid. It's fluffy and the emotional parts really gave you a BIG PUNCH in the gut and made your heart flip. Too adorable and a must read this holiday season.

“You’re a secret softie. You know that, don’t you?”
“Yeah. I have a marshmallow center.”

Yes, indeed, he does have a marshmallow center. He being Max Carter, FBI Agent, control freak and secret softie. Oh, and hot and sexy fake boyfriend. Let’s not forget that.

Guys, this is the second book in Kadie Scott’s Love Undercover series—the first being the excellent The Wrong Kind of Compatible —and once again, Ms. Scott had me from the first page. I mean, I love a fake relationship and, by the time you add in a quirky female, an adorable dog, some gentle ribbing from friends and family, and a Christmas setting, you’ve got a book that equals to FUN.

With a capital F.U.N.

The Attraction Equation is a sweet, light-hearted read. It’s pretty much all good feelings and requited lust (and love, because #romance), which makes it an absolute delight to read. I devoured it in no time at all—falling victim to that whole “just one more chapter” thing. Not that I care. One more chapter-ing my way to the end of this book was a very smart decision, IMHO. After all, I got to spend time with Max, who needs everything just so and Gina, the gift-wrapping elf who is all color and chaos. They’re classic opposites attract. Which makes them perfect for each other.

And that is what makes this book one hell of an attractive read—and a book that left me feeling all warm and gooey on the inside . . . like I had my own marshmallow center.

“I think I fell in love with you the day we met. Otherwise I would never have asked a total stranger to be my fake girlfriend. But now I have you for real, I’m never letting you go.”

**4-4.5 stars** The Attraction Equation was a super fun, sweet & sexy read! I loved this opposites attract -“fake” romance story!

Max is happiest with order and structure. He has a closet full of the same suits, his apartment is spotless, and everything has it’s place. He never deviates from it and Max likes it that way. Relationships? No...that would never work.

Until one day Gina, a woman whose life is full of color and chaos, comes into his life in an unexpected way.

Gina is subletting her best friend’s apartment which happens to be a few doors down from Max’s. When Max catches her sneaking a dog out of the “no pets allowed” building, she thinks she’s in big trouble and that her friend will lose her apartment.

But Max has other ideas. He needs his family, mainly his mother, to back off from his personal life and stop trying to fix him up with a woman. He makes a deal with Gina. She plays his fake girlfriend until the new year and attends his Christmas work party and Christmas at his family’s house and he won’t tell the building's Super about the dog (which happens to be a Christmas present for her younger brother). Win-win, right?

Oh...but the both of them never planned on real feelings getting in the way. Will Gina be able to deal with Max’s OCD tendencies and will Max be able to give up some of his structured and controlled life for something real with Gina?

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and Gina and Max’s journey to their HEA! The dog in the story was an adorable side character too!

This is the second book in Kadie's Love Undercover series, but can definitely be read as a stand-alone.

Review For: The Attraction Equation by Kadie Scott The Attraction Equation by Kadie Scott is the Second Book in the "Love Undercover" Series. This is the story of Max Carter and Gina Castillo. I have read the previous book but feel this can easily be a standalone book. Max is a FBI agent that looks into white color criminals and totally focused on his career. Permanent relationships aren't in the cards for him right now and likes the one night stands and the women who know not to hang around. But since his best friend Drew met Cassie (First Book) and his family staying on him about dating he just had enough. So when he was at his family's house for Thanksgiving Dinner and his mother had three non family women over trying to fix him up he announced that he had a girlfriend. Now his mother wants him to bring the said girlfriend to Christmas Dinner. Gina is house sitting and taking over her friends lease while she is overseas for a few months. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book
OMG OMG I LOVED Max Carter and Gina Castillo.
The way they meet, The issues that Max has with everything being in order in
his life, A certain routine for everything even coffee at a specific time each day.
Gina is a free spirit, She is beautiful both inside and out. And she was absolutely
perfect for Max. Max made a huge mistake at Thanksgiving with his family.
He is so tired of being set up by his mom and his sisters that he blurted out
that he has a girlfriend and that he will bring her for Christmas.
Gina is staying at her BBF"s condo while she is in Europe on business. Knowing
the rules she still sneaks in the cute little dog that she is going to give to her younger
brother for Christmas (yes it is still a month away and she could be causing issues for
her BFF) but she could not resist, That is until she "runs" into Max her next door neighbor
and He realizes what she is hiding under her hoodie. That is when Max makes the proposition
Be his pretend girlfriend for Christmas with his family and he wont tell on her. But Max and
Gina start spending more and more time together, His "rules" for himself go out the window
and he starts to fall for Gina. Everything comes to a head on Christmas Eve with his family.
But what he says shatters Gina. Will Max be able to make it up to her or will he lose the only
woman he has ever let in. LOVED this , not only was it HOT as SIN but it was cute and funny as
well.

the attraction equation is also an opposite attracts story with a splash of fake relationship to hit on all my favorite romance tropes. max carter is a buttoned up fbi agent we met previously in the wrong kind of compatible, and how he ends up hooking up with his temporary next door neighbor gina is basically the heart of this story.

gina is subletting from a friend, she's impulsive and messy and creative. when she buys her baby brother a pet dog even though it's against building regulations she doesn't dream that getting caught by max means that she'll need to agree to be his fake girlfriend. in truth it seems a little out of character for him.

and it is totally out of character. and being with gina pushes max's limits. he's managing an undiagnosed case of ocd and his need for control and order often come into conflict with gina's more spontaneous ways. but this is why she is good for him. she isn't trying to fix him. she actually accepts him for who he is, she just moves him out of his comfort zone.

the chemistry and spark and understanding between the two leads is very nicely done. i enjoyed watching their relationship grow and watching them reach a greater understanding of themselves—who they are and who they could be.

Max and Gina are a textbook story of opposites attract, but Kadie Scott added so many layers to each character that this story rose above being just a trope.

Max is very particular about every aspect of his life from how his coffee is made to where every item in his apartment goes. Gina, staying at a friend's apartment just a couple doors down from Max's, is much more laid back. She has a method to her mess when she makes one and odd jobs she takes to support her dream of set design.

When they meet Max figures she can help him by being his fake girlfriend for Christmas so his family will stop trying to set him up.

What I loved most is that Gina doesn't judge Max for his need for control, but instead helps to push him outside his comfort zone. She recognizes, too, when he is enjoying something new even if he protests the change. In some cases it seems like the protagonists are pushed together into a relationship too quickly, but I feel like Max and Gina's friendship and relationship were believable even as they planned a fake relationship to fool his family.

This was a fun and romantic read, and a great continuation of the series. I hope there are more books to come!

This is the first book I read by this author, and it definitely won’t be the last.
The story centers around Max, an obsessively compulsive , and slightly OCD FBI agent Max and Gina , his absolutely opposite. She works multiple part-time jobs, and is an aspiring stage designer who is not only spontaneous, but also lives in a controlled chaos environment. While Max is a by the book guy, Gina is currently leasing a friend’s apartment next to Max and is hiding a puppy in a building that does NOT allow pets. But, her heart is in a good place, since the puppy is a Christmas gift for her brother.
Max catches her with her “contraband” and instead of turning her in, he “blackmails” her. He won’t say anything as long as she acts as his girlfriend at his parents Christmas Eve dinner. What started out as make believe seems to have gone a tad haywire.
But not all runs smoothly in paradise. Will they be able to accept each other, or will they lose their chance at HEA? The rollercoaster ride is entertaining and you will fall in love with both characters. I sure did.

I received an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review, so here goes:

I read the first book in this series and really liked it, so I was excited about having the opportunity to read this one as well. Although the first one is still my favorite, I found this to be a very enjoyable read. Gina is adorable, and of course T-Bone makes the book! So then there's Max. I thought that Max's extreme OCD added a very interesting twist to the story. I will say, though, that I got very frustrated with Max's attitude, and to be honest, after the Thanksgiving fiasco, I didn't think there was anything that Ms. Scott could write about Max that would redeem him in my eyes. I was convinced that even if Gina forgave him for the way he acted, I absolutely would not. So imagine my surprise when she proved me wrong. I certainly won't give away the ending, but I will say that my hardened heart melted into a big glob of fluttering goo. Ms. Scott is obviously some kind of witch doctor. ;-)

I loved this book very much, it was a great read.
Gina has brought a dog, secretly, into her pet free apartment which she is subletting from a friend, he's a Christmas gift for her brother. Unfortunately she caught sneaking the pup in by her neighbour Max. Now Max see's an opportunity he can't refuse and a little blackmail goes along way, he needs a pretend girlfriend to take home for Christmas to keep his family from bringing dates for him....Gina has his silence if she agrees to help him.

This was a really funny story. There's two complete opposites, Max who lives his life very routinely, everything is neat, in it's place and on time and Gina is more laid back and fun, she takes life as it comes and odd jobs to make her dream, and t-bone the dog well - it pee's a lot - where it shouldn't, but that doesn't faze Gina, she just cleans it up.
Wonderful writing and great character's, a must read for comedy/romance lovers.
I highly recommend this book!

Max Carter is a pretty rigid dude. He only sleeps with women, he never dates them. This is a practice that gets him into trouble when he blurts out at the family Thanksgiving dinner that his family can stop fixing him up- he's already got a girlfriend. Too bad that's not true. So he decides to blackmail the first woman he sees into being his fake girlfriend.
All Gina Castillo wants to do is sneak a small puppy into her friend's apartment. She doesn't want anyone to know about the dog because her friend might get kicked out. The dog wasn't supposed to be adopted yet since he's a gift for Gina's brother for Christmas which is still a month a way.
This is a romance novel so of course peripatetic Gina and uber-rigid Max are going to fall in love. Did I buy it? The attraction, yes, the long-term possibilities for their relationship? Not as much.

Cute, funny and sweet. Another great addition to the "Love Undercover" series. Second in the series and can easily be read as a stand alone but the first book was really good so I definitely suggest reading it.

I've been wondering what made Max tick since he was introduced in the first book. He came off as adorably uptight. Which he is, but I enjoyed getting to know him and understanding why. This is definitely a "when opposites attract" kind of story. You can't get much different than uptight, OCD Max and messy, freespirted Gina but somehow they really pull it off. They were so good together and absolutely hilarious. I felt the connection and the chemistry. I hope there's another book in the series. I'd definitely pick it up.

A really enjoyable lazy day read.

I lovvvvvvveeeeeeeeeedddddddd this story. IT is absolutely amazing fabulous and just really great Christmas love story. It all starts with blackmailing because MAx really needs a fake girlfriend for family Christmas dinner and living next to him he finds perfect candidate Gina. I can not say how sweet was to read those completely opposite characters fall in love. None of those two is perfect they both have some unusual way of operating especially Max. But for the first time in his life, MAx is not judged because of the way he acts and not only that he finds someone standing in his corner. For me, on of the best story, I read this year and the best Christmas love story ever. Highly recommended!I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly

Please note: I received a copy of THE ATTRACTION EQUATION from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to the publisher and author.

Five stars and here’s why:

Ms. Scott hooked me from the get-go! I love a fake relationship story. Toss in an opposite attracts element on top of that, and you've got a recipe for a book hanger! THE ATTRACTION EQUATION delivers! FBI agent Max is a control freak to the Nth degree. Gina thrives with chaos. Throw in an adorable dog and all hell breaks loose. If you enjoy fast-paced writing, well-developed characters, and skyrocketing chemistry between the hero and heroine, this book is for you. Highly recommend.
