Information and Communications Coordinator

The Contemporary Music Centre is recruiting a part time Information and Communications Coordinator to provide a range of information and communication services across the work of the Contemporary Music Centre.  

The Promotion and Development Manager oversees all developmental work alongside all promotional activity for the Contemporary Music Centre, as well as for Composers and for the New Music Sector at large across the Island of Ireland and overseas.  In this newly created role, the Information and Communications Coordinator will work in the Promotion and Development Department and assist with a range of core services and designated projects. 

The Contemporary Music Centre is Ireland’s national archive, resource centre and promotional body for new music, supporting the work of composers throughout the island of Ireland. The Centre is used, nationally and internationally, by performers,composers, promoters and members of the public interested in finding out more about music in Ireland. This is a part-time role, starting at 12 hours per week approximately. Initially offered on a 12 month fixed term contract, beginning mid/end March 2016 – mid/end March 2017. The candidate will work from the Centre’s premises, ideally across three afternoons per week. Salary is based on experience. 

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated responsible team player with the following skills and qualities:

Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience in a PR/Marketing/Communications/Administration role. Minimum one year.
  • A third level qualification in Communications/ Marketing/PR  and/or Event/Arts Administration. 
  • Good understanding and genuine interest in the ever changing social media landscape
  • Experience of working on a direct marketing and/or digital marketing campaign(s) in a professional or educational setting.
  • Strong organisational, administration and writing skills with the ability to produce accurate work consistently and when under pressure.
  • Flexibility regarding attending events outside of office hours and around the Island of Ireland as required.
  • Ability to use own initiative and work well independently as well as part of a team.
  • Desirable Criteria

  • A degree or proven interest in music or any art-form.
  • Proven knowledge of the Arts sector and Arts environment across the Island of Ireland.
  • Proven experience in an advocacy role.
  • Proven experience of brand management.

    THE ROLE

    Communications 

    The Information & Communications Coordinator will be responsible for the implementation and ongoing development of the Centre’s Communications Strategy relating to a diverse portfolio of activities in conjunction with the Promotion and Development Manager. This will include promotion and publicity for the Centre’s own programmes and public events and events as well as assisting the new music sector at large with the promotion and publicity of their events.

    Specific Duties would include:

  • Designing and Implementing Social Media Campaigns.
  • Regular on-going updating, maintenance and development of the Centre’s social media platforms.
  • Contribute to ongoing brand development of CMC and communication of same.
  • Marketing of CMC events, programmes and curated catalogues. 
  • Writing, issuing and following up on Press Releases.
  • Maintaining and developing media lists and nurturing press/radio contacts in Ireland and overseas. 
  • Maintaining and developing invite lists/target group lists and nurturing contacts within new music community in Ireland and overseas.
  • Attend and represent CMC at CMC produced events and partner events.
  • Represent CMC at new music events on the island of Ireland.
  • Information 

    The Information & Communications Coordinator will play a key role in gathering information for the Centre’s website and e-newsletters in relation to CMC programmes and events, as well as overseeing information rich programmes of the Promotion and Development Department, for example Composer’s Voice and Continuous Professional Development programmes. 

    Specific Duties would include:

  • Managing and compiling the Centre’s e-newsletter and e-mail communications to different mailing lists and different target groups.
  • Contributing news items and content on CMC events and projects to CMC’s website, www.cmc.ie,.
  • Circulating information and managing take-up for Continuous Professional Development workshops coordinated by the Centre and with partners.
  • Overseeing and compiling information on the Centre’s Composers’ Voice and New Music Voices schemes as well as the Centre’s various awards and trophies.
