Forbidden Bonds is the second book in the Immortal Curse series by Lexi C. Foss. It picks up where Blood Laws left off, but focuses on two different characters, Tom and Amelia. Having met Tom in the previous book, I didn’t think that I was going to enjoy this one as much as the first installment. Surprisingly, I wound up liking it even more! Action, romance, betrayal, and charm, I loved every minute of it!

 photo pagebreak_zpscaredzya.png

Upon realizing that her brother thought she was dead, Amelia lost all hope of being rescued from the hell she was enduring at the hands of CRF. They performed torturous experiments on her, kept her imprisoned without the use of her powers, and living in her own filth for years until the day Stas saw her by accident. Stas is Amelia’s brother’s girlfriend, and if she were to alert him of her discovery, the CRF would have a whole lot of trouble on their hands. When the head of CRF, Jonathan, found out about this new development, he agreed to let his son, Tom, move her to a new location.

Tom is tasked with babysitting Amelia at his family’s cabin in the middle of nowhere for the time being. He volunteered for the job, because he didn’t want to see anything happen to her. Though he never liked the idea of her being imprisoned there, when he saw her on the ground covered in blood after being beaten by his father, he couldn’t handle it any longer. After he takes Amelia to the cabin, he allows her to roam the cabin freely instead of locking her in a cage in the basement like he was instructed. He buys her clothes, toiletries, and begins to treat her like a human being. At first, she doesn’t trust his actions, but as time goes on, his intentions become clear.

Everything is going well, but Johnathan constantly checks up on his asset. He even randomly sends his team to resume experiments on Amelia at the cabin. One day, they catch Tom and Amelia offguard, and everything takes a drastic turn. Tom is forced to choose between his father, his duty, his life, and Amelia. He makes the decision to save her without hesitation. Now, he just has to keep her alive.

 photo pagebreak_zpscaredzya.png

The characters of Tom and Amelia were perfect for one another. They were both broken at the hands of his father, underestimated by their loved ones, and strengthened despite their circumstances. I loved that Amelia was helped by Tom, but ultimately was responsible for saving herself. She is no damsel in distress, and that’s what I loved about her. Tom cared for her and helped her learn to defend herself even with the risk of her turning around and using that knowledge on him. At the time I thought he was an idiot, but that idiocy saved her life, so I forgave him. I didn’t like how careless he was with his own mortality, but all in all, he is a good man that I fell in love with immediately. Based on the last book, I would have told you that was impossible. If you are hesitant to read this, because like me, you didn’t care for Tom in the first book, don’t be. You are guaranteed to have a different opinion once you start reading this one.

I said in my review of Blood Laws that it was slower moving which I thought was mostly due the world building involved. After reading this book, I can now say that with almost complete certainty. Without all the explanations that were needed in the first book, I was able to fly right through this one. Everything flowed perfectly, and there was never a dull moment.

I liked the fact that even with the book ending, I won’t have to say goodbye to Tom and Amelia for long. All of the characters you meet in each book will be in the next, so the end of “their” book isn’t the end of them. We will continue to watch the characters grow and their relationships build as the story unfolds throughout the remainder of the series.

Forbidden Bonds is an action packed, paranormal romance with a unique world and well developed characters. Lexi’s writing is engaging, the story is interesting, and I never wanted to put the book down. I had an awesome time diving back into this world, and I think you will, too. I bet you’ll enjoy your time there even more this time around!

Confusing world but good romance!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙💚💜❤️🖤
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌎🌍
Character development: 🤐🤫🫣😍😘
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The Hero: Tom - he is from a fledgling bloodline which didn’t help the fact that people are always trying to kill him. He is a former special forces sniper who works for his father, Jonathan killing rogue immortals for a living for the CRF. His father was obsessed with “the asset” with whom Tom is in charge. He is not a babysitter, so isn’t fond of his newest mission. His father wanted her kept in a cage, but Tom wouldn’t comply. Tom knew what his fate would be if he failed this mission. He knew he needed to lie low and follow orders if he wanted his freedom.

The heroine: Amelia - She is Issac’s sister from Blood Laws and she had been held captive and tortured for six years. She is the “Asset” held by the CRF for years, caged, experimented on, starved, held in her own filth and forced to wear a locked explosive collar that inhibits her powers. After Stas from Blood Laws saw Amelia, the CRF moved her to a new location at a cabin in the woods and Tom is her captor. She saw him as the good cop to his fathers bad cop.

The Story: Tom can’t stand his father and is no longer believing in the mission and methods of the CRF. His father doesn’t trust him after Tom went behind his back to tell some truths to Stas, so Jonathan calls daily to check on Tom and even sends people to continue experiments on Amelia. At some point something happens and Tom has to make a choice between protecting Amelia and following his father’s orders.

This book was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Tor Thom and Anais Inara Chase. Tor Thom has a very deep voice and I really like his narration. His voice is so deep, that it lends itself well to paranormal romance. I don’t think I have heard Anais Inara Chase before. She has a British accent and a soft feminine voice which was pleasant to listen to. Both were great, but neither does the voice of the opposite gender very well, so duet narration would have been much better.

Like the first book, I still had problems figuring out who all the people were, which kind of paranormals they were and even what each of the paranormal groups were and what powers and idiosyncrasies they had (Seraphim, Ichorian, Hydrarian, Fledgling, Sentinal and supernaturals that came from experiments). I listened to the first book over a month ago and forgot some of the complexities including who were enemies of each other and why. It was all just a bit too confusing even well into the book.

This book definitely can’t be read as a standalone, you must read this series in order since most of the happenings in the first book were not summarized at all in this one, but were definitely referred to. I also didn’t like how subservient Tom was to his father at the beginning of the book, though I knew he had some plans for the future, it is hard to believe someone that was in the special forces would so blindly follow a man he knows to be a madman who enjoyed beating female hostages even if he is Tom’s father. Also the fact that Tom so easily believed Jonathan when he told Tom that Isaac was responsible for his mother’s brutal death and that he is taking revenge on Isaac through Amelia.

This is the next book in this thrilling series and this one focuses on Sentinel Tom the son of powerful Ichorian Jonathan and Fledgling Hydraian and Amelia, Isaacs sister believed dead but has actually been in captivity tortured and experimented on for the previous six years at the hands of Toms father.
Tom has only recently discovered Amelia's existence and after challenging his father concerning his treatment of the Asset as she is known has been dispatched as her reluctant guard as punishment for stepping out of line and questioning him.
So I wasn't really much looking forward to this instalment mainly because Tom had not endeared himself to me previously but as this story progressed I actually did start to thaw.
Tom is almost a victim himself of his father just in a totally different way.
Misled, lied to and manipulated all his life I was like a one-woman cheer team as my former dislike morphed into sympathy as I realised that Tom was not quite the sheep he had been portraying.
As the blinkers fell away completely and he went rogue, all to protect the woman that has slowly dug her claws in for the long haul I was applauding loudly from the sidelines.
Tom totally managed to turn my opinion of him completely on its head as I very swiftly did a 360 in regards to my past abhorrence.
Amelia herself was quite the tower of strength and so changed in all the ways, she once was.
Rather than allow her circumstances to consume her she is now determined never to return to that blissfully unaware state and totally rely on other people for her safety and protection.
I was really liking this new pro-active version of herself she has evolved into it was so just empowering.
And together as a partnership Tom and Amelia are at heart kindred spirits and I was totally loving the dynamic developing between them.
So this was action packed throughout and a real page-turner, Quite slow burn in nature but I believe that did suit this particular narrative.
It does need to be read in order as each book features a separate couple but follows on from the previous with a progressing storyline.
I am really looking forward to the next thrilling instalment in this addictive series which I believe involves Lizzie and Jayson.
I really do recommend this series.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of Forbidden Bonds (Immortal Curse #2).

I feel like I've barely gotten my toes wet with this series. I have so many unanswered questions, which is why I've already started the next book. So I'm going to make this review as quick as possible (no planning) so I can get back to it. Just know that Lexi C. Foss has worked her magic and has me completely wrapped up in this immortal world she's created.

Amelia - she's the lost but never forgotten sister of Issac and Luc. For six years, everyone believed she was dead. Little did they know, one of their most trusted friends was holding her prisoner, using her for experiments, leaving her bent not broken. When Stas infiltrated the Sentinel program, everyone found out the truth. Unfortunately, with a bomb collar around her throat and wards around the facility she was captive in, there was no safe way to rescue her. When suddenly she's moved to a new location, at first she believes it's all part of the game until her captor proves to be so much more than what he seemed. He taught her how to defend herself. He gave her the means to feel free. And he made her accept the new woman she was turning out to be.

Tom - son to a monster, he always idolized and adored his father. When he realizes how truly wicked his dad is, he starts making plans for his escape. But where would he go? He's a fledgling, which means he should be safe with the Hydrians, however, as a Sentinel, he's made many enemies. He quickly learns that he was a pawn and how reckless his father played with his life. As punishment for his previous actions, he's sent to babysit an asset - Amelia. He was supposed to keep her in a cage in the basement, but he couldn't force himself to dehumanize her further. And as Amelia grew into an incredible person right before his eyes, he found he had little resistance to her guileless charms.

I liked that this book had some action. It was what I was looking for and gave the perfect complement to the love story that was evolving between the characters. Tom and Amelia easily won my heart and despite how desperate their story seemed, I had hope for their happy ending. I have no idea where this story is going next, but I hope these two come out alright in the end.

P.S. I loved Amelia so much more than Stas. She felt she could do so much, but was willing to acknowledge that Tom was much more experienced and deadly than she was. For some reason, Stas hasn't come to this conclusion yet about herself. I'm pleading that she learns some humility in the books to come.

I really enjoyed Blood Laws which was the Immortal Curse series book 1, but for me, Forbidden Bonds is that much better. Maybe because the world of Ichorian's and Hydrians is already set up so I don't need to learn the complexities of the environment...yeah maybe it's that. But I actually think it's more to do with the characters of Tom and Amelia (particularly Tom).
In Blood Laws, Tom came across as a bit of an arse (to coin an Amelia term lol), and so it was with a little trepidation that I opened the pages of Forbidden Bonds....within a chapter, I was hooked. Tom is FABULOUS. He's certainly got a chequered past which has moulded the man he is today, but the growth in his character was a joy to watch. And phew....the man is HOT and SWOONWORTHY.
Amelia too, goes on quite a journey. I'll warn you now, there are some pretty difficult scenes with Amelia - but the fact she comes out of the other side stronger, more tenacious, more amazing is testament to Lexi's development of her character throughout the novel.
It was also brilliant to get more of Balthazar who is my absolute fave...bar none. While the next two books in the series aren't going to focus on B, I am not averse to begging.....yes begging (and possibly bribing) the author to consider giving us B's story.
I highly recommend Forbidden Bonds, but do check out Blood Laws first to get a true understanding of the story and world building.

This series is getting better 🤞.

I loved the fast pace, action, passion, protagonists and romance. There were some unexpected twists in the end which I never guessed but their strategy to defeat the Villain was fantastic. They all came together and used their power as one.
I can’t wait to see what all things this author has in store for us.

I’m not going to name the heroine as it’s one of the plot twists in book 1, so I would recommend you to not read the blurb if you haven’t read the first book. This series is not a standalone.

When Thomas (Tom) was first introduced to us, I thought he would be paired opposite Lizzy but this author is pairing up couples so differently, which I enjoyed.

Tom was such a complex character, torn between duty, revenge, familial love and his own beliefs. I loved him from the beginning to end. He was sarcastic, sneaky and understood the heroine instinctively. His sneaky ways of uplifting her were so funny. As was his sarcastic talk and taunts to his father. He cleverly motivated heroine and helped her heal. I loved their banter.

Heroine, my heart broke for her. She suffered so much and still didn’t lose her core kindness and innocence. I loved her growth, strength and how she decided to take control of her life. There was one death in this book that gave me immense satisfaction. God, that Villain deserved it and more.
But I hope the author doesn’t forget Blake. He may have had a tiny role in the book, but I want better things for him.

Absolutely recommended.

Lexi C Foss certainly knows how to build a world you want to live in and write characters who intrigue you and question all the things you think you know about them.
Then before you realise, they're under your skin, in your head and have captured your heart.
This happened for me with Tom and Amelia (and one or two of the supporting crew...Oh B where are you in my life!!). Tom hadn't been one of my favourites from Blood Laws, but I think maybe that was the plan all along, afterall with an Ichorian father, whose side was he really on?

Forbidden Bonds continues right after the events in Blood Laws (so should really be read first).  As punishment, Tom is sent on a "baby sitting" mission to a place that haunts him, with an important asset he's been secretly trying to protect.  Amelia, has suffered so much, but together, they need to learn to trust each other to survive.

I loved this book as much as the first, it has action, intrigue, tension, passion, heart ache and a story line that hooked me in from the start. The way their characters developed and their relationship grew was beautiful, but so hard at times when it's revealed what both have been through and the betrayals they've suffered. I'd also love to meet the Hydraians, the banter between them relieves the tension and Balthazar is certainly a scene stealer! Can't wait for more of the Immortal Curse series, I thoroughly recommend it.

This is the second book in the Immortal Curse series, and most of the characters are from the first book. Make sure you read Blood Laws before this book.

In Blood Laws Tom wasn't getting the popular vote on readers favorites-book-friend list. But if you're like me that opinion will change once you read Forbidden Bonds (his story).

Tom is sent off to a place he hates most to do a job he disapproves of, but here's where we really get to see him. He's the jerk who put his friend at risk, so why would I like him? That really shouldn't be shocking since he's the guy who was desperate to show his friend the truth before death could. He's also a guy who believes in right and wrong. Tom has become everything the man he looked up to wanted, he is a warrior! Once Tom is no longer under his fathers eye he is witty, fun, protective and sexy! Seriously he's on my book boyfriend list right at the top.

Amelia has been living in a fogged hell, no hope of returning to the life she once knew. A lady, sweet, sheltered, and loved. All that was taken from her when she was taken... or was it? Now she's in a new hell, one without the fog. The current guard is the devils own son. So sure of his strength and skills he teaches Amelia to fight just to pass time. But what if he is in his own hell too. Family seems to be everything to him as it is to her. Then what if he is teaching her for protection not boredom. Amelia needs out and will do what she can to get it, and he just might make it easy for her. Banter, flirt, seduce, kill...

This story is a romantic, thrilling, adventures, sad and dark at times. Question what you think you know, trust those you shouldn't, pick and choose wisely. See if love will conquer all. :)

What can I say but wow! Forbidden Bonds was exceptional. The second book in the Immortal Curse series displayed more action and tense moments as we get to know Tom and Amelia. There were some sexy and hot scenes yet kind and tender moments that pulled at my heart. This book was not only one of love but of healing as well. It was also great as we get know more of the world of the Hydraians, Ichorians, Fledglings and Sentinels. I can't wait for the next book!

🔥⚪ Review Of Forbidden Bond By Lexi Foss⚪🔥

Forbidden Bond was one Action-Romance-Adventurous Book, the thrill in this book was so good, this wasn't a normal boy meets girl kind of story, this Immortal world is filled with so many things that will make you be on the edge of the seat the whole time... (Seriously it's a full package kind of book)
⚪🔹⚪
Lexi C Foss did an Amazing job in this paranormal romance, Her writing and story had an amazing flow, which has you glued to your Kindle. I'm waiting for more Lexi!!!! Give us the whole Gang soon!!!

Forming a bond or even a connection for a Comrade in his line of duty is a risk
Bonds are built on Trust and having a past and a conscience of having no trust on people around you, we'll then it becomes a highly risky situation... & Guess what?
That's the kind of a situation Tom and Amelia is placed with..
⚫🔹
Broken trust, no Liberty and bound by duties, Tom is so locked up in all of these, that he needs a breather or as he might say an out, but A soldier never disobeys the orders.
A true soldier always do what's demanded of him & this time he's been demanded to guard a pretty important asset.

Ordered by the authority of being an up-close babysitter was not in Tom's journey..
See he had plans & this pretty little asset might become a problem in his plan..
Sentinel Tom is drilled with passion and would decimate you in blink of an eye, but he's driven by Revenge..
His whole existence and survival is for that revenge and now the time is up and it's time for them to pay for the sins.
⚪🔹⚫
This whole plan would have worked out, but when he's met with pretty little Amelia his defences starts to crumble.
He questions everything about the situation..
Amelia a Hydrarian, is a locked up prisoner in The CRF (an organization's who kills immortals) she is the most important Asset for them & time has come to relocate her as there's a danger of the revelations of her true reason of being a prisoner in The CRF.
⚫🔹⚫
Amelia has gone through so much, that you'll pity her. The torture that she has gone through, would make your soul shiver, She has lost all hope of revival, to live is not even in her mind, Darkness has crumbled her, but the sheer will to kill the whole CRF is what's keeping her Alive, but how can a girl with no skills would survive and now without her knowledge being relocated? What game is being played with her by The CRF?
Her mind is battling with chaos with these changes and now alone with Tom, the only person who might have helped her in her dreams or was that reality in her part? See this what happens when you are on the verge of insanity.
She questions everything that surrounds her, but what mostly has her tied up is Tom her captor.
The innocence and a spark of theor slight connection has chained and disheveled her mind and now she's left with counting on what's real and unreal....
⚫⚪⚫
Speaking about my personal experience in this book Tom is hands down my Favourite.
He is the most down to earth person I have ever read and also the most misunderstood person.
In this war between the Ichorians, Hydrarian and Fledgling he has no out. I truly felt bad for him, but the end was perfect!!!

⚫🔹⚫
Forbidden fruit was Tasty for Adam, but will this Forbidden Bond Would be tasty enough for Tom to risk everything
To see this, Read Forbidden Bonds.
Because this is not you normal Love story,
This about repercussions of the past,
Revenge is their thirst,
But in the process of quenching it a Bond is Formed,
So will love surpass it all? Will once again Revenge and hate win?
To see it all unfold, read Forbidden bonds and feel the best Adventure in this Immortal world!
⚫🔹⚫
Forbidden bonds is the second part in the Immortal Curse series.
The story of Tom and Amelia is started in this book.
You need to read Blood Laws before reading Forbidden bonds
⚫🔹⚫
Little About the series-
This book has 3 most important Immortal kinds- Ichorians, Hydrarian and Fledglings.
This whole series is built up on the Treaty of 1747- The Blood laws.

Forbidden Bonds by Lexi C. Foss

4.5 Stars

I was honored to be able to edit Lexi’s newest book. Here is my honest review.

This is book 2 in the Immortal Curse Series, which features Tom and Amelia who were in book 1. Tom is being punished by his father to babysit Amelia at his families cabin in the woods. He’s supposed to keep her prisoner, but Tom conveniences Amelia that the chocked she wears not only dims her powers but will also detonate if she goes further than two miles away from the cabin, just to keep her from running. These two should be mortal enemies but Tom starts to realize the mission his father is on, isn’t exactly what it appears to be. Tom starts to tank on his own which causes him to soften to Amelia. Amelia is in a dram, more like a terrible nightmare, but when Tom starts to give her these liberties she’s causes because she knows at any moment she could be back in the cell she once lived in. She doesn’t allow herself to get comfortable, but Tom is kind of nice to her, and she starts to form a plan to get away. She just needs to get stronger and wait for the perfect moment. Can these two enemies truly find love for each other in such conditions?

The characters are incredibly developed. You start by hating Tom, and end up loving him. You think Amelia might have a Stockholm syndrome but later re-evaluate because of the bond these two form, and by Tom’s actions.

This is a paranormal romance novel but honestly that is such a small part of the story, that it’s a side plot. The really focus is about these two unlikely people and their personal growth that leads them to their connection.

While this book could be read as a stand alone because Lexi gives enough details, I would strongly recommend reading book 1, Blood Laws.

I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book!

Fantasic Book.

Lexi you clever lady WOW this series is just getting better and better,i loved this book even more that the first (if that’s possible). This book has plenty of action, passion, and tension that had me hooked again right from the off.Lexi knows how to get us readers hooked into the paranormal world again where you fall and fall hard for the charaters as this book flowed along at a fabulous pace with Tom and Amelia’s story.

I must admit Tom wasn’t one of my favourite charaters in Blood Laws but then this is what i think Lexi wanted, she is a crafy lady to portray Tom that way to then in this book turn that around,i loved him in this story.

Tom was sent to babysit Amelia as a punishment,it was never going to work out the way his Ichorian father wanted as the more time these pair spent together the closer they became.I loved how Tom’s character blossomed the more into this story we read,we get to find out his chequered past that made him the man he is,and he is one HOT male that ticked all my boxes.

Amelia has suffered horribly at the hands of Tom’s father for six years and had to go through alot of difficult scenes but she comes out a stronger person which is down to Tom helping her to defend herself.

Lexi C Foss is one clever lady as she got me sucked back into this immortal world where there is more i want and need to know, i couldn’t put this book down,as it kept me engaged until the very last page and these characters are still in my head now a week after reading this book.I now can’t wait for the next book in this awesome series but i must admit i am really looking forwards to the SEXY B’s Balthazer book to be out,but i know its not to be ‘yet’…..Crafy lady keeping us in suspense.

You know those series that you start and you think 'the sequel ain't gonna live up to this one?' Well this one really did. After falling in love with Issac and Stas, I was pretty sure they were my go to couple. Not anymore. (Although Issac – still yum!)

I honestly was not expecting to like Tom all that much, in the first book he gave off an almost bratty quality, like he thought he was god gift and everyone should listen to him and his judgement. He had this jealousy about him which back then didn't make sense but now after reading Forbidden Bonds, all makes sense to me.
Throughout his life he's been putting on a persona, a cloak so that people don't see the real him. He's troubled, and any self respecting female goes weak in the knees for that kind of trouble.

Amelia had this unbeatable quality, she's one hell of a resilient character and one hell of a woman which you'll see why when you read the book. She's endearing and you can't help falling in love with her too.

The whole world that Lexi has created has me excited and you can't help but read and be immersed. The complexity of the characters, the way she builds the tension. She has it all and you can't help but want more. I truly cannot wait for the next one. I'll be waiting with bated breath until then.

Forbidden Bonds is the second book in the series and it follows Amelia, Isaac's sister, and Tom, the son of the big bad guy. Tom has spent his life killing immortals, which makes him the enemy of the people we know and love from Blood Laws. He is helping the bad guys to keep Amelia a captive, but he is not evil and he is one of the good ones. He is not aware of all the bad things that are happening and it was very easy for him to choose Amelia's side. For someone who was 6 years captive, Amelia seemed to take everything very well and showed only a few signs of having any stress and traumatic experience. I would have liked to have her feel things that showed that she was a captive who had been tortured because she seemed to be completely ok and it was weird and abnormal.

On the bright side, she and Tom had a good story and in the last quarter of the book, things got very intense and made me worry about our characters. It had some action and it had moments that gave room to Tom and Amelia to develop their feelings and bond.

I was expecting some Isaac-Stas scenes because the previous book ended in a not-so-nice way, but unfortunately, there was nothing on that front, and that bothered me because I want to know what will happen with them. Even Amelia knows that they don't have a future and I hope that they will find some magical way to fix things.

Forbidden Bonds starts up right where Blood Laws (Immortal Curse #1) left off. Tom is the son of the bad guy who Amelia has been tortured by for the past 6 years. Tom didn’t know the extent of Amelia’s abuse and when he found out it was the beginning of the end of his relationship with his father. Watching Amelia grow into herself is painful yet you are rooting her on and are proud of the woman she becomes. Tom is struggling to and these two have a unique insight into the other that eventually becomes something more.
This is a dark UF/PNR that made me put it down and walk away for a bit every once in awhile as I had to remove myself from the pain but I kept coming back because I had to see them through it. When they get through the other side it is like the sun after a storm. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and look forward to future installments in this series.

Sooo, I kinda hated Tom in Blood Laws, but can I just say he has totally grown on me and I can't wait to read more about him in future books. Amelia, this poor girl. My heart breaks for her and all she has been through. These two were meant to save each other. Loved all the twists and turns of this book and as I've said many times before I will be impatiently waiting for the next in this series! Oh and I'm with B, pancakes! Thanks Lexi for allowing me to read an Arc and share my opinion on it.

Forbidden Bonds by Lexi C Foss a fabulous five-star read. This is the second book in the Immortal curse series and you do need to have read the first book Blood laws first, as this story follows on from the first and we saw Amelia and Tom in the first book, giving us some understanding on their story which you would need to understand this book.
Tom Fitzgerald has always lived in his dad’s shadow at CRF and now he has seen what lays in those shadows he is starting to feel it may be time to come out into the light, when his farther sends him on babysitting duty him the prized assassin and prodigal son. Stuck in the cold doing a job that at first, he thought was beneath him, but in the end, may just be the thing that brings the light into his life.
That light is the CRF’s prized asset Amelia Wakefield, the sister Isaac Wakefield has assumed has been dead for the last several years. Only she hasn’t been 6 ft under she has been in a prison of the CRF’s making, with Tom’s dad the prison warder. When she is taken by Tom to another location they are tucked away in the wilds of no-where and they both lie to each other, but that’s not all they do to each other.
Can you fall in love with the person you have always been told is the enemy? And what happens when lies are revealed and passions are ignited. This is a great second instalment and I can’t wait for the next book, or in fact anything written by Lexi C Foss as she writes amazing characters.

Forbidden Bonds is the second book in the Immortal Curse series. So if you haven't read book one, then turn back now. Although this book does feature a different couple, it picks up as a continuation of Blood Laws.

Tom has spent the majority of his life walking the path his father, Johnathan, has paved for him until he learns the awful truth behind his father's motives. His discovery of the harmful abuse that one particular prisoner undergoes sets Tom on a different path, and leads to a dangerous and almost impossible feat. Getting Amelia out from under his father's ire is only the beginning of a complicated task.

I flew through this book in a day, and that is all due to the ease of Lexi's writing skills. There is so much imagination and thought put into this magnificent world and I cannot get enough. Tom completely redeemed himself by protecting and surrendering his love for Amelia. This book changed my overall perspective of him after reading Blood Laws and made me admire Amelia's independence and selflessness. Their journey is rough and short which makes this story an enthralling and entertaining adventure.

The audiobook for Forbidden Bonds is a duet narration performed by Anais Inara Chase and Tor Thom. There is no doubt that these two made my listening experience enjoyable, and what I liked the most about their talent is the ability to make each character unique and distinct. They fit each of their characters perfectly and I only hope to come across more of their work. If you prefer this format, I highly suggest listening along to this action-packed story.

Forbidden Bonds is the second book of the Immortal Curse series.

I have to say I couldn't put the first book, Blood Laws, down and while I was excited to get my hands on a copy of Forbidden Bonds, it was also nerve-wracking because too often second books don't deliver the same excitement, tension, character development and story. But if anything, I enjoyed this book even more. It had all the same excitement and tension of the first book but with another compelling story.

Forbidden Bonds picks up where Blood Laws leaves off, but follows the story of Tom and Amelia while weaving in the characters we love (and love to hate) from Blood Laws. It's really clever stuff. At no point does the story get boring or familiar or cliched. It kept me engaged from start to finish and left me wanting so much more. I need more!

You must read book one and then continue with Forbidden Bonds.
Both books in this series are a highly enjoyable read by Lexi C. Foss. She weaved and stitched together a complicated and unique paranormal love story in both books. Tom might even be hotter than Isaac, but Stas is still my favorite heroin.
Wonderfully written and properly edited and formatted. They are indie books done better than many publishing house books. I am glad to recommend any book to any reader that Lexi has written.
I wanted more drama in the beginning of Forbidden Bonds, but the end was worth the wait. And now two new books coming for winter is just too exciting.

Forbidden Bonds (Immortal Curse Series Book 2) by Lexi C Foss is the second book in her Immortal Curse series. I highly recommend you read book one first as this one picks up where the first one left off. Like the first book, this is a dark paranormal romance that will keep you engaged until the very last page. Once again, she will pull you into their world of fantasy from the first word. This story continues the conflict between the two the races with a deadly consequence when the laws are broken. The twists and turns in this story will leave you sitting on the edge of your seat just waiting to see what will happen next. Find out what happens to these characters in this next installment of this series.

Tom is a trained sniper that kills rogue immortals for a living. He has been banished to a remote location because he released some classified information to a friend. He was sent with CRF's prized assets but what happens between them was next expected. What will happen when secrets are revealed and a forbidden relationship starts with this prized assets? What will he do when she opens up feelings that he hasn't seen for a long time? He is left questioning everything that he has ever known. When sacrifices are made, will they be running for their lives? Some bonds are meant to be broken, is this one of them?

Tom and Amelia's relationship is one that is not your typical relationship. They were forced together when he was sent into exile. The attraction is there but their relationship is forbidden and it could even be deadly for them. In the first book Tom, was a huge jerk but in this one, he turns into a lovable character. His past certainly makes who he is today, the hot, steamy character he has turned into. I feel for Amelia as she has been through so much but she is really strong. She grows throughout this story and you won't want to miss how she turns out. She really does just go through so much but just comes out to so much stronger. You will love the secondary characters as well. They really do complete the main characters and just make the story flow. I hope to see more of them in the next installment. I will warn you though, there are some scenes in this story that will be a little hard to take but without them the story would not be the same. Find out if these characters will find their HEA? Will their forbidden bond keep them apart and or bring them together? Are they safe or will they lose more then just their heads? If bonds are meant to be broken, they are also meant to be kept strong, find out how strong their bond can be.

This is my second book by Lexi C Foss and I can't wait to see what she will bring us in the next installment. Lexi lives in Atlanta, Georgia with her husband and the furry children. When she is not writing, she is crossing items off her traveling bucket list. You will find many of the places she has been to in her stories. She loves to swim, drink to much coffee and is a little quirky. This is a fast story that will pull you in from the first word until the last one. You won't be able to put this story down as you will need to see what happens with them next. You will enjoy these twists and turns. I highly recommend this story as I know you will want to see how this series continues.

I want to preface this by saying this installment is dark. If you have domestic violence, torture or PTSD triggers, pass on this one. The characters involved are immortal but it can still be tough to read.

Forbidden Bonds follows right behind Blood Laws with Issac finding out his sister, Amelia, whom he thought was dead for the last 6 years is actually still alive. Astasyia accidentally came across her beaten and broken and was absolutely shocked. She decided to join the CRF to train as a Sentinel with the underlying motive of being a double agent and freeing Ameila.

Tom, Jonathan's son and Astasyia's best friend also found out about beaten Amelia the same week and decided to make his own plans of getting her out as well as himself because he's come to learn how much of a monster Jonathan is and he doesn't like what he sees. He pitches the idea that he should be Amelia's guard as a punishment for something he did to Stas and his father agrees.

What started out as a babysitting job, turned into more. Tom begins to learn more and more about his nefarious father while Amelia begins to realize that she's not having hallucinations after all and that she might actually be able to recreate a stronger persona for herself post PTSD. They find similarities within one another that blooms into romance.

The author loves nicknames in this series and this one is no exception. The story was very fast paced; almost too face paced sometimes where I felt like I may have missed something. We get a little more more insight into Jonathan's past, which makes you hate him even more than you did before, but it also leaves you with even more questions. Overall, it was a great second book and it sets you up to lead right into the third one.

Great second book in the series! (there are some spoilers in this review) I loved the first book and I was not disappointed with this one either. I strongly recommend it. I was curious about Tom's role in the organization and his fate from book one. He seemed to be a good person and I just could not see him taking any part in Jonathan's plans. This book will uncover his dark past and secrets he didn't even know about. Amelia is a nice character of her own, and their growing mutual attraction, tension and love is worth the pages. You will also see some action and Tom's great combat skills. I love the ending and that Tom's finds his place in the world after believing for so long that no one would want him due to his affiliation and immortal status. We get a glimpse of Stas and Issac and a preview of the book three plot where Lizzie will be a heroine. I cannot wait for that one as we will learn who Lizzie is and what experiments are being done on her. Read this book, you will not be disappointed!

It just keeps getting better!
In Blood Laws (book one) Foss introduced us to a world of paranormal intrigue and suspense that would satisfy even the most fastidious of readers
With book 2 she has gone one step further - Intrigue - subterfuge - suspense - kick @ss heroines - sarcasm -romance - this series has it all and so much more.
It turns out the enemy may possibly be our friend and our friend may possibly be our enemy- or we quite possibly may be being played on all sides - I am not telling -Nice try though ;)
So many secrets are revealed and old questions answered - though with each new revelation comes more questions
Foss takes us further into the world of the Hydrians and their ways. We even get to go to the island - meet the elders - and that cliff hanger in book 1 - yeah we get answers and so much more than we bargained for!
Definitely, recommend this series if you are a fan of the DH or the Brotherhood or even the Lords -
Foss has and is taking the time to build a superior series - one that any paranormal fan would be proud to read and own

Expectations can be a b*tch! Blood Laws, the first in this series, ticked every one of my ADD reader boxes, fast pacing, kick ass MCs, action, WTH moments, witty humor, amazing world building and a cast of interesting side characters. I was over the moon and my ADD monster sated. Forbidden Bonds was slower paced and more focused on the Tom and Amelia’s relationship, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, just not my thing. It wasn’t till almost the two thirds of the way through (when the rest of the cast joined the story) that it started to pick up for me.
My reactions and feelings are very much a case of “It’s me, not you” and though this story didn’t wow me, it was a worthy read. Questions were answered, new ones formed and the plot definitely propelled the story forward. There are so many aspects of this story that I can’t wait to see play out in future installments. I really wanted to rate this book higher but as with all my reviews, I have to let my emotions lead the way and this one didn’t invoke the range of emotion I wanted.
