Genre: Romantic Comedy

Name/Age: Melany Fitzgerald : 31 ┃ Chance Hoffman : 35-40

Chance Encounters (my first ever book from Jessica Prince) was a fun, sexy and fast paced book that had me laughing, snorting and overall just really enjoying the vibe.. You'll find an insecure heroine, a charming lawyer, makeover (princess diaries style), three little hooligans - one of whom likes to be naked a lot (it's a phase) and one likes to poop on the carpet, laugh-out-loud moments and a satisfying epilogue.

I felt beautiful when I was around him, cherished, important. But the most significant thing of all was that I felt brave. And it was all because of him.

MELANY FITZGERALD :
the most awkward and insecure, painfully shy, spouts-weird-and-unusual-facts-about-anything-when-nervous heroine. Yes, she's THAT type of heroine. the one who can't talk to a hot guy without blushing and stuttering, the one who is so gullible it's painful to watch, the one who thinks she's not worth much because her bitch of a mother has been abusing and belittling her since she was five when her dad took off.

but she's also the sweetest, most adorable, loyal and caring person with a heart of gold. At the start, it was really, really, REALLY painful (seriously, second hand embarrassment is a thing) to see her interact with Logan, the man she's been crushing for five long years. You know what they say about train wrecks? You're uncomfortable, but you just can't help yourself and it gets worse the more you watch (or read, in this case). That was 3426429% the case with Melany. Eye contact? Never heard of that, the floor's much more interesting, ya'll. But boyy, did she transform.

CHANCE HOFFMAN :
charming, confident and charismatic, those are the words everyone would use to describe Chance; the complete antithesis of melany.
He had it all - money, ken doll looks, great friends and the-devil-may-care attitude. the only thing he didn't have? Good relationships. BOTH women (pepper from fire & ice, and devon from almost perfect) he previously pursued were stuck up on other men. but he is the type of guy who'd make friends with the women who left him for other guys, just so there's no bad blood between them. he was a total sweetheart.

THE MEET CUTE (or THE MEET AWKWARD) :
chance and melany meet at collin's (melany's boss) engagement party. melany was staring after logan (her crush) with stars in her eyes, and chance decided it would be a good idea to talk with her. Naturally, there was a lot of stuttering, blushing and zero eye contact. When Chance's date for the evening arrived, and melany's social anxiety reached the roof, she proceeded to give a very insightful (and lengthy, i think it was 4 or maybe 5 paragraphs?) description of the difference between sparkling wine and champagne. *silence, silence everywhere.*

CLICHE MAKEOVER :
after hearing about melany's crush on logan, chance decides to help her out and *cliché makeover ensues* Melany goes from shapeless clothes and no makeup to skin-tight dresses and heels, and voilà, every single man suddenly can't get enough of her. she gets asked out on dates, men compliment her and Logan suddenly notices her. The plot reminded me of the movie DUFF but without the high-school element;
~guy helps girl land another guy
~guy falls in love with girl
~guy coaches girl on love and sex
~girl finds out she loves guy too
~*little drama ensues*
~girl and guy confess their feelings
~HEA!

SECONDARY CHARACTERS :
the secondary characters (even the ones you want to throat punch) added that needed extra layer of development. I loved constance and tomas the most. Poor constance was stuck with 4 gross and smelly boys, and she was going out of her mind. There are several couples from Jessica's other series and their get togethers (especially girl's night) were pure chaos.

WHAT I LIKED :
◆ three little hooligans, aka, patrick, landon and deacon. The most effective birth control you could ever imagine. seriously, those little naughty kids made my day. How deacon, who's five and three quarters (because three quarters are very important), wanted to marry Melany, how patrick was always naked and how landon wanted five girlfriends at the same time.

chance hoffman. He was everything you could wish for - supportive, encouraging, and patient. I really liked how he was still friends with his ex, his relationship with Collin was amazing, and I loved how he took charge. oh did i mention possessive? 'cause he was. I loved this scene;

◆ drunk Melany. she was straight up hilarious, from mac truck (makeup in non drunk language) to i lobe tequila and do you lobe stuff chance? I would've taken drunk Melany over sober Melany any day.

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE :
◆ melany's relationship with her mother and how she STILL lived with her mother. that was the only part where I thought she needed to grow a spine. 30 years is a long time to deal with her mother's shit and melanie still cried whenever her mother confronted her.

◆ the drama at the end. nope. not gonna talk about it.

OVERALL :
I went in completely blind, I didn't read any reviews because I was seriously committed to finally push through the end and actually finish a book (a task I failed for about 9 of my earlier reads that couldn't hold my interest), and I ended up really enjoying it. I liked it, just didn't love it.

I spent a long time living in my head, but now that I’ve met you, I never want to go back there, because you’ve shown me how incredible real life is. And I’ll gladly spend every single day here in the real world if it means I get to spend it with you.

Smitten!! Yes, I am totally smitten with Jessica Prince’s latest release, Chance Encounters. This being the first book that I have read from this author has me scrambling on what other books of Jessica that I need to get my greedy hands on. To say that I love Chance Encounters is beyond an understatement because I absolutely LOVED everything about this book. It was the book that brought a genuine smile to my face and had me wishing for my very own Chance Hoffman.

#ChanceEncounters

Melany Fitzgerald has a five year crush on a co-worker. The problem is that co-worker hasn’t noticed at all. He practically doesn’t even know her name. Melany is what you could consider that sexy woman who has an adorable awkward and nerdy personality. She hides behind clothes that does nothing for her figure and also lack of self-esteem has always been her downfall since she grew up being made fun of and lacked love and support from her mother.

So when Melany meets her boss fiancee’s friend, Chance Hoffman, they easily started a friendship. It was easy for Melany to be around Chance as he always made her feel at ease. And so when Melany asked Chance to help her get the attention of her crush, operation Melany transformation began.

photo 25dd3bb1898ef2fa0e8e3c67ac980e_zpswlbuj7s7.gif It was bliss. Being with Melany was pure, unadulterated bliss. I knew right then, without a doubt in my mind, that I was in love with Melany Fitzgerald. And I’d be damned if I was going to lose her.”

As Chance helped Melany, he began to start have feelings for her. His swan transformed to the most beautiful swan and she didn’t even know it. Slowly, he helped her gained confidence and showed her real honest love. It was only a matter of time for Melany to notice Chance and forget her crush. And so when Chance and Melany decided to cross that invisible line of friends with benefits, what happens when they both realized that they want the same thing. More than friendship. But what happens when Melany’s crush finally starts noticing her? Will Chance even have a chance to compete with Melany’s crush that she had for five years? Or will Melany discover that happily ever after does exist and it’s about time she takes a chance on Chance?

Chance Encounters is an absolute gem of a read. It was sweet, playful, adorably awkward and yet had that innocence of love that I found endearing. Melany is one of those heroines that you can’t helped but love. Although she had that innocence about her, she still had the fiery backbone. And as for Chance Hoffman, all there is left for me to say is Sigh….I love him. Seriously, I love his character so much. He saw Melany for who she was. He saw her beauty when no one saw it. So if you are looking for a story that was fun and sexy then I highly recommend you to read this book. Take a chance with this author and book because I most definitely did and loved every moment of it.

Spoilers ahead, 2.5*

We met Chance in the Locklaine boys books as he dated both Pepper and Devon. I was interested in the type of h Chance would have as he seemed to be a genuinely good guy. Unfortunately the h of this book Mel just wasn't for me.

Chance and Mel meet and strike up a friendship. She's painfully shy and socially awkward and has had a crush on a work collegue for five years now. Chance decides to help her land her guy by giving her a makeover. Suddenly everyone wants Mel but Chance already saw that she was a sweetheart inside and out. He decides to play the long game to get his Mel. Even with a makeover Mel can't believe Chance would want her. They start off as friends but as she left her abusive mother's house and went to stay with Chance, they slowly progress to much more.

Mel annoyed me endlessly, almost to the very last page lol. First she's in love with Logan to the point she stutters in his presence, then she realizes she doesn't want him as she starts to fall for Chance but regardless of how many ppl tell her she's attractive she can't believe it. Eventually she and Chance start a friends with benefit type arrangement

When characters are abused I live for the moment they stand up for themselves. Not Mel she has to try her best not to cry when her bitch mother starts to rant

This author has once again used the same plot device of an unwanted kiss to cause drama between the mcs! I mean honestly If someone kisses me and I'm not interested I'd punch them or at least push away, but everyone always freezes the requisite few seconds to make the mc see them in a compromising position. Same thing here as Chance sees Mel kissing Logan which leads to a fight between the couple and a separation

All in all poor Chance deserved better, though the book wasn't bad the fmc spoiled things for me

h was bullied as a teen we get flashbacks and she's verbally and physically abused by her mother
Chance didn't appear to be a manwhore, in fact he was a sweetheart
Mel had two previous sexual encounters

COVER RATING

Chance encounters is a complete package. It's a fun and sweet read with the right amount oh hotness in it.

This is the type of book that leaves you with happy thoughts and positive vibes. This book has a miraculous mood changing ability. Chance encounters was like a stress reliever for me, I had a bad day but after reading this book all of my stress just vanished.

Though the plot was not very unique yet the story had a unique streak about it. The writing style was very effluent and consistent and the characters were just adorable and lovable making the story much more lively to read.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic I was the damsel in distress, and he was my handsome knight in shining armor.

So the story centers around Chance and Melany. Melany is a shy and awkward. She has a special talent of making every situation awkward. But she has a secret. She is crushing on a guy from the past five years and now she wants him to notice her. Enters chance, a guy who radiates confidence. A chance encounter between Melany and chance on an engagement party turns their life upside down. After a string of even taking place, Melany somehow finds herself asking chance to help her landing the man of her dreams. chance is intrigued by the sweet yet shy girl. He sees the funny, confident girl behind all the baggy clothes and awkwardness and makes it his mission to help her in finding herself.

With passing time their friendship blooms and the line between the friends and lovers blurs making their relationship a bit more complicated and turning them into friends with benefits.

But what will happen when the feelings starts mixing up with their arrangement thereby giving rise to misunderstandings.

I adored the characters especially chance. I assumed him to be a a cold-hearted manwhore/player as in most of the romances but he was a complete sweetheart, a guy who believes in love. Thins made the story a lot more lovable.

So in a nutshell this is a must read...I totally recommend this. Chance encounters has made its place on my favorites list and Chance has success landed up a place on my book boyfriends list.

Chance Encounters was a cute and super predictable book. It's a no brainer that two people sleeping together are going to fall in love. However, their friendship and relationship was simply adorable and pure.

Melany and Chance were extremely lovable characters. Well, at first I did find Melany annoying because of her constant whining and help me kind of situation. She had zero self-esteem too but once I got to know more about her and her living situation.. well, it made sense and I started to like her a bit more. Once Chance came into the picture.. well, I loved her because of him. They were good for each other and the smut was so on point!

Chance was lovable from the start. They met each other at an engagement party and then slowly started to develop a friendship. Well, as slow as a chapter will take you. Then they became friends with benefits and that's when the fireworks started man. This became a page turner. I loved every second of it and wanted to see how it would all end.

The ending was kind of underwhelming. I mean, I knew that they would have their HEA but damn.. nothing else was really mentioned. It was just a simple kind of ending. I wish there was more to the book because I wanted to see what they were doing now.. but I guess I'll accept what I can get.

OMFG I loved loved this book !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The heroine was socially awkward I'm talking foot in your mouth, can't form coherent sentences around her guy crush. I literally face palmed like watching a fucking train wreck.
Insert hottie Chance (PS yes I am going to be greedy and claim him). If you have read the Locklaine Boys series you would have met Chance, but don't worry you don't need to read that series although you should) and now I'm rambling.

Anywho....

Ok so he tries to help her with her awkwardness. They become friends lines get blurred.

Let's just say I fucking LOVED this book. So many eeeek moments and OMG woman open your eyes !!! And Holy shit that man is soooo fucking sweet I want him for myself. Just gush gush melt in a pile of gooo gush. Chance OMFG I love Chance. I loved him in the Locklaine series I loved that he finally gets his own book. I FUCKING LOVED him.

So many endearing moments and between these two. I loved their relationship. I loved how he broke down her walls and helped her build self confidence. I loved the fact that he was sooo fucking protective an a bit of an Alpha when it came to it. He stood up for her when no one else did. Just GUSH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! These two stole my heart.

Awesome book great read. I would definitely do a reread of these book.

Ugly Duckling story

Melany was shy and awkward because of her mom and other things that happened in the past. She meets Chance and he is able to see past her frumpy clothes and her shy stuttering to the beautiful woman underneath with a little bit of help in the confidence department. Chance ends up falling for her in the process. Good ugly duckling to beautiful swan story.

3.5 HAPPY STARS

Hot and confident Chance Hoffman and social awkward and shy Melany Fitzgerald are the last two people in the world who you would think would become friends, but their bond develops beautifully as do their feelings for one another. Chance quickly realises how fab Melany is, inside and out, but thanks to her shy nature and inability to she herself for the beautiful and fab woman she is, he makes her a deal, he will help teach her how to flirt etc. so she get the guy she has had a long term crush on. What Chance doesn’t expect is the desire and affection that ripples through him, as well as his need to keep her away from other men.

The first chapter or so and I really wasn’t sure about this book, but as it progressed the interplay between Chance and Melany had me smiling and absorbed. The chemistry between the two was done well, and even though their first interaction was a tad meh for me after that the bond was clear and had me engaged.

I wasn’t so keen on the fact that Melany thought herself in love with a guy (Logan) that she had barely spoken to, that had me rolling my eyes a tad, luckily . The only reason this didn’t annoy me as much as it otherwise would have, was that once

Melany’s friend was a good secondary character, and I liked her three little boys, wish they had been in some more scenes. One secondary character I detested was Melany’s mother, the woman was horrid, verbally abusive and wholly unappreciative of the loving/caring daughter she had. I loved how protective Chance was and quick he was to defend and protect Melany. I also liked the fact that despite the bitterness and curtly of her mother, Melany is nothing like her, and still has room to care (luckily Chance is there to ensure that her soft heart doesn’t have her mother using her any more than she already has).

Acquired via KU, one read I can see myself re-reading. It’s a sweet/cute read, there won’t be any surprises making you think – huh didn’t see that coming, but it’s a lovely light read.

If you don't believe a new pair of shoes can change your life, you just need to ask Cinderella. Or Melany. New shoes can make a world of difference.

Melany is hiding in plain sight. And I do mean plain. She has figured out it is easier to live out of line of sight. To go unnoticed. A life time of getting kicked while she was down has taught her to just stay down. But it doesn't mean she didn't long for more.

I wanted something like that. I wanted a man who wasn't worried about public displays of affection, who didn't care who was around when the mood to touch or taste me over him.

Logan is the object of her desire. The guy that she has crushed on for years but didn't know she was alive. The guy she dreams about and is the only one who might inspire her try.

Melany met Chance at a party. He talked to her. And she talked to him. Without stuttering or anxiety. Chance sees that Melany has a sense of humor and a fiesty streak she doesn't let out very often. He sees the Eliza Doolittle inside her.

I felt beautiful when I was around him, cherished, important. But the most significant thing of all was that I felt brave

Chance lures Melany back into the land of the living. He stands up for her. He enables her to stand up for herself. He gives her the confidence to make friends, to try new things, to get new shoes.

Chance Encounters is a fun, funny, sexy fairy tale. Part Cinderella. Part Ugly Duckling. Part My Fair Lady. And all Jessica Prince's brand of must read characters.

Melany is the epitome of socially awkward. She wears baggy clothes, can barely hold a conversation with someone from the opposite sex and manages to put her foot in her mouth if she manages to open it at all. She's also been in love with a coworker for 5 years and hasn't even said hello to him.
Chance happens to see through all that to the swan beneath the ugly duckling. Initially, he agrees to help her gain some self-confidence so she can pursue her love interest. However, the more he gets to know her, the more he hopes to keep her for himself. Most of the book is about how their friendship develops while hiding all their true feelings for one another.

This was a cute story, predictable, but cute. At first, I was a little annoyed by Melany's character. The author went a little overboard in just how pathetic she made Melany out to be; however, once Melany starts to interact with Chance things got better. Speaking of Chance, he was the complete package - good looking, successful but not full of himself, incredibly sweet and intuitive to Melany's needs. I wanted him to get what he wanted because he is such a good guy. The ending was a little underwhelming, but eh, I still enjoyed reading it.

Finally, FINALLY, Chance gets the girl!! After watching this; kind, funny, generous, gracious, sexy, hardworking, and all around great guy lose the girl TWICE, I was thrilled to read his story! I was desperate for him to get a happily ever after with a woman that truly deserved and appreciated him. Melany was exactly that.

I loved how this book centered on the subject of self-worth. How it showed to look for the beauty inside instead of focusing on just whats on the outside. I especially loved how once you saw the inner beauty the outer beauty seemed to be magnified. It also showed it went both ways. All the outer beauty can't cover up the ugly within.

Melany was a complex character who needed the light hearted and always cheerful Chance to pull her out of her shell. Once she truly began to live and strive to find happiness for herself it's like a whole other person bloomed with in her. While Melany and Chance were very much opposites in most ways that served to only make their attraction, connection, and friendship that much stronger.

I really enjoyed how this book was written. Fun and light-hearted but, now without touching on serious topics. The story flowed perfectly with little highs and lows that kept me completely involved from start to finish. We got to visit with some old friends from previous books and got introduced to new fabulous ones. It all just came together for one fantastic book.

You don’t have to have read The Locklaine Boys series in order to read Chance Encounters (I mean, you should because it’s a fantastic series, but it’s not a pre-requisite for enjoying this book) but if you have read those books, then you’ve already met - half fell in love with – and then felt terrible for poor Chance Hoffman. And if you’ve experienced all these things – you’ll be happy to know that Chance gets his happily ever after and – it is awesome.

GAH. I thoroughly enjoyed getting the broader picture on Chance. He’d been presented as such a nice guy, and it was so gratifying to get to see his rougher edges. He’s so freaking hot you guys. There were scenes that left me way more hot and bothered than I was expecting because…damn. And it wasn’t only the sexier scenes (although….homina) – it was watching Chance get fired up and passionate, seeing his protective instincts fire up, and all that gorgeous display of growly alpha maleness.

Yeah. That.

*wipes brow*

And Melany? I was a little afraid Melany was going to be too much for me when I first started reading. However, that wasn’t the case. I loved her. I’m a little crazy about her and her dorky social awkwardness. I see a lot of myself in Melany (socially anxious introverts unite!) and so in the end, it wasn’t difficult for me to warm to her at all. I loved her enormous heart and the way she faced her demons and grew so much over the course of this story. And, of course, I 100% completely adored her with Chance.

Those two. Their chemistry was off the charts - somehow managing to be both completely adorable and sizzling hot at the same time. Their communication (or lack thereof) sometimes frustrated me (I wanted to shake some sense into both of them on more than one occasion) – but I was totally addicted to their connection and the slow, simmering way they fell in love.

Chance Encounters was a super quick, easy, fun and flirty read that I couldn’t get enough of. I’m so beyond thrilled that Chance finally got his girl and that Melany could not have been more perfect for him. Whether this is your first time meeting Chance Hoffman or you’ve been rooting for this good guy to come out ahead for a while, I promise you will not be disappointed! ~ Shelly, 4 Stars

***

Oh, Chance Encounters you had me at socially-awkward-it’s-painful-to-watch nerd in your blurb, and didn’t let me go until the last page. It’s so fun reading about someone who comes out of their shell with the support of their friends and the assistance from a hot guy. LOL

Poor Melany Fitzgerald. She’s lived inside her head for so long, she doesn’t have any idea just how amazing she truly is. But Chance Hoffman sees right through her nervous ramblings and poorly fitted clothing to the beautiful, fantastic woman inside. Chance can’t keep himself from volunteering to help Melany get over some of her awkwardness around men. Now he just needs to convince her that he wants to be more than her tutor, he wants her, all of her forever.

Man, I so enjoyed the time I spent with Melany and Chance. I didn’t read The Locklaine Boys series (though I’ve immediately added them to my TBR), so I didn’t know Chance from that series, but I just adored him. I loved how he was “all in” on this with Melany, and that he did finally find the right woman for him. And Melany, jeez, I had such fun watching her phoenix rise. She was quite the pistol and I couldn’t help but root for the two of them to get it together. Chance Encounters was fun, flirty, and sexy and I am going to dive into The Locklaine Boys as soon as I can! ~ Missy, 4 stars

The blurb had me intrigued and the cover had me sold Jessica Prince has written some of my favorite books and this one has made that list . I fell in love with Chance and Melanys they had a lot of likable qualities and tiny bit that annoyed me . This was full of emotions that I look for in a read wasn't bored but frustrated at times . Melany is extremely shy very cringe worthy I felt so bad for her it was like watching a scene and not being able to look away even though you know the end result , but I love how she grows more confident and she blossoms with the help of Chance . Chance was very swoon worthy I shiver just thinking about him ahem shower scene droll moment . The sexual chemistry that they have going on was so thick and intense . Can't wait to read what next for the author

This book was definitely better than I expected it to be, we've all read books where the heroine asks the hero to help her bag a different guy but this book had so much more than they typically have and Jessica’s writing was addicting. This book has the perfect light read for me at the moment, it was just what I was looking for and I enjoyed it so much!

Melany was so socially awkward at times I cringed at some of the things that came out of her mouth, she definitely had a case of foot in mouth syndrome. She tasks Chance with helping her get Logan’s attention after he witnesses her pining after the man in question. They form this amazing friendship where he helps her step out of her comfort zone and be more confident in herself and her body. Melany was pretty clueless at times and that was definitely an endearing factor to her, she wasn’t one of those girls who pretended they didn’t like themselves.

Chance blew all my expectations of his completely out of the water, I had him pegged for a player and a bit of an asshole and while he had a history of being a player he was never an asshole! He was so stinking sweet to Melany at times I swear he had me swooning for most of this book!

These characters burrowed into my heart and definitely put down roots, they were both so likeable and their personalities definitely played off each other brilliantly.

There were times I got so frustrated with both of these characters but it just built the story more, I couldn’t wait until they finally seen the writing on the wall and I wasn’t disappointed when they finally got together.

I really enjoyed this story, it was light, fun, sweet yet had a hotness that I wasn’t expecting. Throw in some hilarious friends and you have a recipe for an amazing story. I’m so glad I signed up for this and I cant wait to see what Jessica has for us next!

My first book of Prince, I actually got interested by the blurp, I am a sucker for guy helping girl then falling for girl theme. It was actually real solid for me until towards the end, quite a bummer.

Our H is great. Nice package without the ego, really macho without the grunting and silent stare, he is really easy to love. Easygoing, full of smiles, sweet and kind, also v nice, so nice he looks beyond the h's surface and appreciates what is inside more or less right from the start. He also more or less probably fell quite quickly as he is willing to do a lot of things to help our h and spend time with her without consciously understanding why initially. On top of that, this H is a smart cookie and wakes up fast to the why, and so it is most enjoyable to see him working on winning our h by being the everything she will need. Really love how he just goes all protectively grouchy when h is threatened and yet so mega sweet when he is with her. Honestly, who in her right mind will not choose this guy?!?! *gasp* apparently there are 2 of those nutters, am thinking if I wanna dig into that other series to see what happened but also worrying it will ruin him for me.

Our h is the quirky adorable socially awkward girl next door type with a negative self confidence index. She is super shy and uncomfortable with most people, yet due to H's charming friendiness, right from the beginning she is pretty comfy with him. I didn't like her as much as our guy, I think she is a bit too self involved at times and honestly initially, I really think her not even batting an eye when h buys her wardrobe v odd (this is a pet peeve of mine that I pay my own way, and I do feel better when she gives it more thought when she is bunking with him later on). While I didn't hate her, I just find her being oblivious a bit annoying and unbelievable. Mostly though, she comes across as pretty sweet and innocent. Given her experience in life, which is really pretty horrid, I do understand why she becomes so closed off, and it really is nice to see her get out of her shell and blossoms under the H's gentle encouragement.

The story itself is entertaining, and the pace is really good when there isn't anything much going on (like a mystery twist or such) besides the romance itself. Dialogue for the most part is also funny and entertaining. I didn't like that verbal diahrea though, to be honest. I think it is supposed to come across as h being nerdy, but it is a bit too brief and surfacy to bring that across, and it comes out a bit cringe worthy yet not smarty mouth to me.

Have to say I really enjoy the sexy times here, it is sexy and yet at the same time, it brings across the closeness these two really feel for each other.

The story was going along pretty well also, until the confrontation. I didn't like how that panned out, both suddenly act so out of character I feel I am reading two different books, especially with what happens afterwards, when both act like twelve year olds. I think I would prefer it if both are saddened instead of being all ragey here to get a little angst in. Instead it becomes a bit of a comical farce where I just lost the connection with them. I understand why each is pissed and hurt, but if both thought this is it, it doesn't seem right for both be grouchy bears to me. But anyways, I guess people react differently but I just didnt feel like they really feel much for the other or felt the loss much with how it pans out. Especially on the H's side, when he was so determined to be with h, so it was totally puzzling he just stewed on a this for a week instead of hauling arse to drag her back to his den. And maybe I am biased, I really didn't understand why h did what she did (because she didn't really know how H feels, it doesn't make much sense why she feels a need to do this, especially when H is someone she confides in) , or why she got into her head she got played and H just wants to get laid with her, when he shouldn't have difficulty in that department. At least I am glad she is the one to make amends in here. The reunion scene however, with the verbal diarrhea, again lost me, and it didn't end up as sweet and cute as I expected. The epilogue made up for it though I was too bumped by then to be really appreciating it.

It is a preference thing I guess since a lot of fellow goodreaders love it. While I like this one all the way to the 80% mark, thinking it a cute funny and sweet read, the remaining 20% just lost me. It just fizzles out for me instead of having me feeling all tingly warm.

Jessica Prince pretty much always delivers. If you haven't read her books, get on it. Seriously.

What we have here is a Pygmalion tale, very nicely executed. I appreciated that both characters had very believable insecurities. And I was SO GLAD to see loveable Chance, finally get his 'chance' (yeah I went there) at love.

Oh my word, I loved this book! It was cute and funny and sexy all at the same time!

Chance is a sexy, sweet and I just love him to pieces!! Melany is shy, sweet and very socially awkward, I felt really bad for her when she would stutter or get tongue tied when she was around her crush. She always wore frumpy, oversized clothes that didn't compliment her body at all. Which is why her crush never took notice.

Then she meets Chance, he's sexy, sophisticated and very well put together. She has this strange pull with him, when he is around, she doesn't get as nervous or stutter like she normally does around new people. He seems to clam her down when she is around other people, puts her anxiety at bay.

****Chance’s arm around my shoulders gave a tiny squeeze, and I felt that twisting in my gut start to loosen the slightest bit at his small show of support. It was amazing how he could do that. With such a small gesture, Chance was able to help alleviate a bit of the stress that was beginning to bubble up inside of me. It was almost like a sixth sense of his, recognizing when I began to spiral. I’d never met anyone in my life that was that in tune with my moods.
It was… nice.

Chance seems to like Melany, he thinks she funny, sweet and really too good for Logan, her crush. He also knows that there is a feisty, fierce woman in there somewhere. Somewhere under all those frumpy, baggy clothes is a woman who is beautiful, smart, funny and just needs to have more confidence in herself.

So, he does what any friend would do, he decides to help her. Says he will help bring that confident woman out that he knows is dwelling deep down inside. First thing....clothes shopping. And it's funny because Chance HATES clothes shopping! Hates it.

The more time Chance is around Melany, the more he sees the woman he knows she. Melany has a habit of weird word vomit coming out when she's nervous, spouts off useless facts. This usually turns people off and makes them uncomfortable, but Chance thinks it's endearing, and thinks she is charming when she gets nervous and random facts just come out. Through all of her quirks, Chance liked her from the beginning. Not like Logan, who only noticed her when she changed, when she started wearing form fitting and flattering clothes, when she started to have more confidence. Another reason Chance thinks she's too good for him.

Chance vowed to never like a woman who liked someone else. Didn't work out for him so well in the past. So, he's gonna do what he said he would...help her get the guy. But somewhere along the way, Chance thinks HE should be that guy.

****I was going to burrow myself so deep beneath her skin that she couldn’t live without me. So help me God.

I recently found out that Chance in in Miss Princes other books, I haven't read those yet so I can confidently say this can be read as a complete standalone. If you want a light and funny, sweet and swoon worthy romance to read, this is for you!

Chance Encounters by Jessica Prince
“Chance finally gets his chance, 5 stars”

Now if you’ve been reading Prince for a while you’ve known about Chance, and if you haven’t then that’s okay. Chance is the misfortunate soul who somehow ends up liking females who are completely and totally unavailable. He is always in the dreaded friend-zone, but he is awesome about it. Which has made us die hard Prince fans waiting with a baited breath to see if his happily ever would ever get written. Well it did.
Chance is a good looking attorney who is basically just waiting for Mrs. Right. He’s sweet, romantic, and all around a swoon worthy dude. When he sees a slightly awkward girl at his ex’s engagement party he can’t help but find out her story. The minute he meets Melany he knows there is more then what meets the eye. But once again he settles with the fact he will most likely be friend-zoned…or will he? Chance helps Melany find out who she really is, pushes her to see that she really is beautiful, all the while wanting her heart for himself.
Melany has had the definition of a rough life. It’s one pathetic story after the next. Your heart really goes out to her because seriously no one deserves the amount of bad luck the chick has had. Due to life she is withdrawn and really doesn’t know how to talk or act around people, making conversations extremely awkward. Much like her first encounter with Chance. But good old Chance doesn’t see it that way, he finds her intriguing. When Chance apologizes for a misunderstanding it sets off a whole chain of events that end up with the two in love. But does Melany want his love or that of another mans?
Take this wildly funny cringe-worthy journey with Chance and Melany. Once again Prince leaves us sighing with happiness for another couple. The road isn’t paved for these two but the bumps and turns will be worth it. Plus, if you’ve read Prince before you get peaks of our favorite Locklaine couples. Here are a couple quotes from Chance Encounters I really enjoyed;
“I was going to do anything and everything I could to insinuate myself into her life as someone she eventually came to depend on. Once I achieved that, I’d make my move.”
“She stood up, smiled sweetly over her shoulder, and that insane, feral desire to take her surged through my bloodstream.”
“Real life is so much better than a fairy tale.”

Jessica Prince is a new-to-me author, so I had no vested interest in Chance Hoffman (an unlucky-in-love good guy from two of Prince's other books) finally getting the girl. And that's perfectly okay. Because Chance warmed my heart all on his own in Chance Encounters!

I've read plenty of stories in this trope — help the plain girl get the guy while being friends with benefits — before, and it so often falls like a lead balloon. But in Chance Encounters, the friendship turned friendship-with-benefits between Melany and Chase is so organic, and their relationship blossoms so naturally. The witty banter between the MCs is great, too!

Melany is so dang awkward, it's painful. But that's part of what makes the banter and dialog between her and Chance so painfully funny. Even though this is an ugly duckling story, I loved how Prince sets up the connection (even though it was just a friendship) between Melany and Chase right out of the gate with the prologue. Chase sees something in Melany's social awkwardness that he finds endearing, and that made me give him some major brownie points long before she gets a makeover and becomes a beautiful swan.

What irked me, though, is how Chance feels that he was the wronged party when "the conflict" between them arises. The entire point of their pact was to help Melany get her co-worker's attention, and when things changed on his end, he should have told her rather than manipulating her to see him as the guy for her. Of course she wouldn't bring up her changing feelings to Chance! In Melany's eyes, he was a great catch that she wasn't worthy of. I get that the conflict had to lead to the Grand Gesture before Melany and Chance got to their HEA, but I thought he should have been the one to grovel. In my mind, Melany wasn't the one who did anything wrong.

Nonetheless, I absolutely adored Chance Encounters. It's a heartwarming tale of inner beauty, strength, self-confidence and self-love.

"Real life is better than a fairy tale."

Can Hallmark pretty, pretty please make this into a movie? I will definitely keep Chance Encounters on my re-read list. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Chance Encounters...Wow, this is a fantastic read.
This is the story of Chance Hoffman and Melany Fitzgerald.
I would suggest you read JP other earlier books to get the best from this book, although it is not essential, but it mentions people we have met from other books and Chance has some history with Pepper and Devon in his search for 'the one'.
I loved him in the other books and really wanted his story so I was really thrilled when I heard it was coming.
Melany and Chance couldn't be more different, Chance is a lawyer and he is confident and charming with that signature smile where as Melany is socially awkward and inexperienced so just to look someone in the eye is an achievement.
She also has had terrible experience with men so this makes her happy to live in her own little world and admire from a far.
The reasons for Mel's shyness are explored and handled beautifully and Chance is A DREAM.!!!!
He sees past the ugly clothes and awkwardness and finds a woman worth getting to know, problem is he is in the friend zone.
Mel and her best friend from childhood are hilarious and the portrayal of a mum looking after three busy little boys is frighteningly accurate and funny.
JP always writes at her best when she writes about close knit friends and this book contains oodles of that. It leads to humor and of course lots of wine.
We see characters we have met before and how their relationships are developing.
The book is well written and funny but also emotional, your heart goes out to Mel, in the first few pages I was invested in her.
Another thing I liked is that Chance is not a man-whore. When we start the book Chance is on a date with another woman but we don't know how involved they are. There are occasions where women flirt with him and he is charming back but he only has eyes for Mel although she doesn't see it.
So a funny emotional read, can be read as a standalone though better if you have read other books by the author and a guaranteed HEA.

I have enjoyed this author's books previously, so when I saw that she had written a new one I knew I had to read it. The other thing that got me all excited about this book was that the main character was seen as a Nerd and socially awkward - Jessica had me at Nerd. Melany Fitzgerald has been working for one of the Locklaine Brothers in their architect firm as a PA and is totally crushing hard on one of the architects Logan. If only she could talk to him and get him to notice her, she may finally have her HEA. Enter Chance Hoffman - those who have read the previous Locklaine Boys series will remember Chance - he is the playboy who tried to get with Devin, he did manage a mini-fling with her till she came to her senses. Chance meets Mel at a work- party and is intrigued by her and her quirkiness. One thing leads to another, and he agrees to help her try and get her man. She reluctantly agrees, and the first step is seeing Pepper who owns Fire and Ice. What I loved about this book, was that it brought back all our favorite characters from Jessica's previous books and series. Of course readers, you can see what's going to happen as Chance spends more time with Mel and others start to get attracted to her. Chance = Jealous and now he has to fight for the first time in his spoilt playboy life for something he wants and needs. One of the parts that I loved about Chance Encounters was a side storyline of the interactions between Mel and her mother as her mother was the classic evil mother who blamed and relied heavily on Mel for everything. I think overall one of the main reasons; I loved Chance Encounters is that I found myself to be similar to Mel in more than a few ways. If you want a fun Contemporary Romantic Comedy to read, then check out Chance Encounters by Jessica Prince.

I’ve been procrastinating my reading these past few days. I’m just getting by one ARC at a time. I’ve been swamped with workload and things I’d need to study. And Jessica Prince is one of the few reads I’ve enjoyed reading.

Chance Encounter’s blurb got me interested, and it didn’t fail. The story went smoothly and it was fun reading it. The story timeline was realistic for a love story to build on. Not an insta-love but not so much as love that was there ever since the world began. The plot made sense and can be relatable. It was written in way that it covered most if not all of the aspect of the plot that doesn’t leave much of a loophole. I liked that the timeline was consistent and steady. It wasn’t fast paced but not slow moving as well. It pinched my heart just the right amount to feel the characters emotions.

I liked the way the characters are described too. Melany, although a little awkward, is not so much as a pushover. I feel bad about what she went thru but despite it all, she remained a good spirited and kind hearted. And I loved what she did for Chance. Something not all girls, even those not suffering what she has, could actually do. I especially loved Chase. He is confident and cheeky but not in an annoying kind of way. And I liked that he knows how to show emotion. I loved how he treated Melany with utmost care. I also love the little snippets of the Trio of Terror. Despite their disgusting behavior, they’re quite adorable.

I’d give this a 4.5 stars. Almost a five but not quite and not quite a four too. Just the right amount of humor and smut that I’ll recommend it to someone who wanted a new book boyfriend on their list. Yes, Chase Hoffman is definitely coming in my list.

Chance Encounters by Jessica Prince is a fun, full of humor and sexiness rom-com you don’t want to miss this early Summer ‘17!

Awkward Melany Fitzgerald is clumsy as they come with a side of nerd. She has had her sights set on a man for ages but she lacks the courage she needs to get his attention. When she embaresses herself infront of handsome, sexy as all get out Chance Hoffman she thinks there is no way a man like that would ever see her, the baggy clothes woman in front of him. He is so out of her league, like out of the ball park. But as luck would have it, he actually wants to help her with her confidence and sex appeal. Whats a girl to do?!

Chance has taken upon himself to help Melany become the confident sexy woman she can become. He craves her spark of fire he sees in her periodically. As he is up for the task, he soon realizes his feelings for her are stronger than what he realizes. Friendship → friends w/ benefits; lines are crossed and soon misunderstandings arise. What will come of Chance and Melany?

Who doesn’t love an alpha as a friend? I loved how Chance helped Melany build her character for the better, never putting her down. Chance Encounters is a light hearted, well written book that came together nicely! ** Chance does come from the Locklaine Boys series, but it’s not necessary to read those books ahead of time. This is a standalone novel.

4 Brave Stars!

4 - 4.5 stars

Chance Encounters is a spin off of a spin off (did that make sense?) no worries though no need to read the others. They are awesome though. I missed the Locklaine boys well Chance isn't technically one but he could be. Heh. Finally I wanted him to get girl this time! I felt bad for him when he didn't. He may seem smooth but really he is good guy, kind and sweet.

Melany is unassuming, socially awkward, she hides herself in her clothes. She's had a lot of bad experiences that made her that way. Her mom is a witch too. Her one true friend is her support and now well Chance. Thing is she has her sights on someone else. Even if Chance is helping her to get the other guy to notice her. Soon enough that's all about to change when lines blur between them. Chance starts to feel something is but unsure. That's when he devices his own plan to win the girl for sure.

I liked Melany she's quite smart to me her quirks are endearing and so does Chance. Her ability of blurting random factoids is amusing for me when she's uncertain what to say. She can be lot to take on. Chance here is more than his usual easygoing self add his protective streak and old hurts. Sometimes when you least you meet the one you needed all along and Melany needed that person who loved and accepted her for who she is. Chance needed someone to take a shot with him. They were the perfect blend of suave and sweet. A little flaw in Chance's plan becomes clear though things get tangled up. Will they figure it out before the relationship is wasted? Locklaine guys and girls to the rescue!

Jessica Prince combined sweet and sexy for Chance and Melany's book just right. It had the funny moments that kept it on balance. Aside from the makeover a lot of this book focused on Melany and her learning to love herself and her self worth which I think is important. She and Chance bettered one another. The flow of this was smooth and will keep you invested. I love the cameos and the other books are worth checking out for sure.
