Kate McCarthy grew up in a small town outside of Port Macquarie, Australia. Raised in a house just a short walk to the beach, Kate enjoyed the peaceful, relaxed atmosphere and friendships that come from being raised in a friendly, small town area.
She now resides in Brisbane, Australia, a city in the state of Queensland where she works as an accountant, along with a sideline wedding cake business and her writing.
She is married with two children, has two dogs and house in the suburbs, and a pile of friends and family dotted all over the country that help keep her sane.
When she’s not busy running after naughty kids, filthy dogs, crunching numbers, piping buttercream and writing books, you can find her curled up in bed in the early hours of the morning reading new books and re-reading old favourites. Her favourite books are the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward in which she longs to eventually join the brotherhood and change her name to Phierce Mutha.

Another awesome reread 3/6/21

4.5+stars.jpg (1000×300)

I am a big Kate McCarthy fan and her "Give Me" series is one of my favorite MF series (especially Casey's book)
In the last two books of this series, we got introduced to Kelly Daniels...and those of you, who have read "Give Me Grace" , know that Kelly is Casey's younger brother.

Now for those of you who haven't read the "Give Me" Series... WHY THE HELL HAVEN'T YOU ?????

https://www.google.com/search?biw=1366

I'm sorry...just kidding https://www.google.com/search?biw=1366 (am not).

You don't have to read the other series in order to start this one. This wonderful story can totally be read as a stand alone !! I myself just think that reading ""Give me Grace", would at least give you some more insight into Kelly and Casey's relationship as brothers, and how they grew up. You should listen to me.. I am pretty wise

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor I am wise gif

Kelly Daniels has been a member of "The Sentinals" motorcycle club, since he was a teenager. They are his family...the ones who helped him, when he needed it the most. Kelly is pretty badass, and I loved him since the first time he wandered on page in the other series.

Now Kelly might be badass, but he is about to get a dose of his very own medicine ;) Because Arcadia "Ace" is about to steal more, than just his car.....she is about to steal his  heart !!!

https://www.google.com/search?biw=1366

Ace grew up in a family of thieves (car thieves that is). It is what she excells at....but ever since her brother got hurt, she has been trying to get on the right path. She wants to clean up her act and live a normal live, no matter how much boosting cars makes her heart race.

Too bad not everyone is willing to let her live an honest life. She will have to cooperate and keep to the deadline or else.....

She didn't count on getting sidetracked by gorgeous badboy Kelly though, and even after finding out he is member of The Sentinals....she can't stay away. Well.....that's after she steals one of his cars though

https://www.google.com/search?biw=1366

Pretty soon, these two find themselves neckdeep in trouble....but they are not alone. They have each other and some awesome back up !! I'm gonna give some extra rating credit to Kelly's best friend Luke "Fox" and Ace's friend "Echo". Especially Echo !! Hey girl wanna be BFF's ???

https://www.google.com/search?biw=1366

This story had everything I expected from Kate McCarthy, action, humor, love, steam and friendship. I can't wait for the next book, which is gonna be Fox's story, and I was pretty shocked when I found out who his love insterest is gonna be. Let's hope time flies ;)

I highly recommend this series and the "Give me" series.

The Thief tells us Kelly and Ace’s love story. I already knew Kelly from the Give Me series. This book is a spin-off of that series. The Thief can be read as a standalone, but there can be some little spoilers about that series. I love the Give Me series, so I would just recommend reading it because it’s amazing. I absolutely loved The Thief! It was everything I hoped it would be and more.

I adored Kelly and Ace a lot! Kelly is strong, protective, loyal and a little distant. His past isn’t pretty and it has made him the man he’s today. Kelly a member of a MC and the club has become his family. Ace is hardworking, caring, talented and feisty. She knows pretty much everything about cars and loves driving them. Ace is one of the best at stealing cars, but she wants to stop doing that. She just wants to go to college.

Ace and Kelly are great together! I loved the progress of their relationship. They definitely belong together. Kelly would do anything for Ace, but Ace isn’t always accepting about his help but that was understandable. Both of them haven’t known a lot of love, so that made it even more beautiful to see them find love and an happily ever after with each other.

The secondary characters were great as well! I always love seeing characters from an author’s another series and that happened in The Thief. Ace’s granddad is a great granddad. He’s supportive and he will help where he can. Kelly and Ace have amazing friends and I definitely hope for some of them to get their own book.

5+++++ 'Chunks & Donkey' Stars

The Thief is original, with nail biting, on the edge of seat, fast paced and action-packed goodness that you won't want to put it down. All in all, it is brilliant. I see Kate McCarthy becoming one of my favorite authors if any of her other books are like this one.

The Characters.

Arcadia 'Ace' Jones is one of the best in the business. She comes from a heritage of car fanatics and thieves. After so many years living the high and the adrenaline and especially what happened to her brother she wants out. Getting out isn't that easy though.

I love Ace, I have a major girl crush on her and seriously she is one of the best heroines I have ever got to meet. She is strong, sassy, does what's right. Has her head screwed on yet has kept her soft heart, her loyalty is one of kind and she loves unconditionally.

Kelly Daniels is a Sentinel and has been since the age of 15. He loves his cars, he loves to tinker, and he loves his club. He would lay down his life for those who are in his inner circle.

I love Kelly just as much as I love Ace. He is one strong alpha with such an high level of overprotectiveness that normally I would say it is too much but here? Nope, not at all. He is loyal and a bit of a softie. I love him flaws and all.

The characters are three dimensional and have a depth to them that I haven't experienced in a long time. They work together. They are similar but not quite. Ace has a light that shines that keeps Kelly's demons at bay. Kelly is Ace's rock.
Let’s turn to the secondary characters. Ellington Echo Reid is a prodigy with bubble gum hair. Fingers that work magic as a hacker security specialist. She is Ace’s partner in crime and yes had to bend the sistas code, but it was for Ace’s own good. Nothing too bad.

The Fox brothers oh lord I need them to have books like now. I know Luke is getting a book with Murphy/Hayden. Please hurry up.

These characters add so much more depth to the book.

The Chemistry.

From the first time that they met they had chemistry on all levels. Emotionally they were on the same wavelength and sexually no need to even mention that. They were scorching. I love how their interactions started off and although they were drawn to one another they both knew that what was between them is special. Even though there were some pesky reasons standing between them.
Their interactions flowed well be it that they were having a lark, or it went over to something serious. Or when it was time to get down and dirty.

The Writing & Plot.

The beginning of the book absolutely gutted me. The author doesn't hold back she gets down to the nitty gritty and I was shocked, sad and amazed by the prologue. Ms. McCarthy's writing is top notch. She knows how to lay the foundation for an epic story. I personally think that I got an epic story.

From Ace boosting cars to Kelly helping her. The background and in-depth story that happened between Kelly and Casey, his estranged brother where Kelly couldn’t quite let that grudge go. Or with Ace and Mason and the differences that they had. But family is family and you go through thick or thin. Boosting 12 cars in 12 weeks is no easy feat especially when Kelly gets involved. Ace’s nine lives are about to end. There is only so much luck you can have.

I was captivated with the story, it’s riveting. You just didn't know what was going to happen next. Which for me personally is always refreshing.

The Verdict.

I am so glad that I took a chance with this author. It is everything I want in a book. I just need to back track and read the series as they are somewhat interconnected.

Racer Jones’s pray this nearly made me pee my pants

“As I lay rubber down the street, I pray for traction I can keep, but I spin and begin to slide, please dear God protect my ride.”

And last but not least I want the paperback.

P.S. Eve I think this is one for you *lol*

description

“Babe. Your beauty isn’t in how you look. It’s in how you stood outside of Fix that night where I met you. You turned to look at me with lust in your eyes, which at the time I thought was for me but it was really for Romero’s Charger.”

I always feel this amazing sense of excitement when starting a new book from a favourite author. Especially when it’s a brand new series. Getting to know new characters, falling in love all over again. It’s why we read, right? And finding two characters that not only connect with each other, but connect with me is a huge deal. So when I had read the first few chapters of The Thief by Kate McCarthy and found myself lost in a world I never wanted to escape, I knew I had stepped into a love affair with two new characters that would last an eternity.

“There’s an ease to being with Ace I’ve never had before. A friendship that makes me relaxed enough to be myself, but also pushes my emotional boundaries to breaking point. It’s intense.”

There is no denying the immense talent that drips off the fingers of Kate McCarthy and into our hands. Her words captivate. They tear emotions from me that is difficult to do while reading a book. I relate, I commiserate, I laugh and I love. Hard. Her stories are a brilliant masterplan to suck you deep and spit you out at the end feeling like you’ve lived a thousand lives in one sitting. And you go back for more every. single. time.

“I wait for Ace to drop the gear and punch the accelerator. That’s how a boost works. You get in and you drive that car like death is on your tail. Except she doesn’t. She drives the stolen black Porsche 911 GT3 out of the restaurant parking lot like Driving Miss Daisy is the movie she learned all her skills from.”

The Thief is an action packed romantic suspense with an incredibly deep love story that will leave you breathless. It builds in the most beautiful way. You will laugh and you may cry, but you will definitely feel. I fell in love with Kelly and Ace and the way they grew to accept and love each other and all their flaws. This story ended up being so much more than what I was expecting after reading the blurb. Every word had me. Every emotion surprised me. Every page I turned captivated me. I just couldn’t stand the thought of letting these characters go, yet pulling myself from the pages proved impossible.

“You’re impossible.”
“And you’re beautiful.”

This story is a hell of a lot more than just a girl stealing cars and falling in love. Although, that part of the story was so epic. Each boost is so well crafted, it’s as if I could see it happening before my eyes. But it’s two people fighting to protect the ones they love. Taking the risks necessary to keep their family and friends out of the mess they got themselves in. It’s a story about smashing down those walls and letting the one person in who could quite possibly destroy you, but be the only thing that pulls you back from the deep end. It’s a book that you should definitely take a chance on but just remember to hold on because this story is a wild, sizzling ride you will never forget!

Whenever I read Kate McCarthy's books I know I will be completely consumed with an amazing story, hot alpha male and a sassy woman to bring him sown to his knees. I loved Kelley and Ace. They were sexy, intense and their banter was amazing. I loved their attraction and how drawn they were to each other. It felt like their connection was almost palpable coming off the page.

While The Thief is a standalone, it follows the characters of this author's Give Me series, where Kelley is the brother of Casey from Give Me Grace. I thought this story was fantastic. It was a high octane adrenaline rush from the getgo and I honestly could not put it down. The side characters were just as great as I completely fell in love with echo and Fox. I loved how we not only saw both Kelley's alpha protective side but also his vulnerable side. He was so attractive and a great match to Ace. All in all this was fantastic and another amazing read from this author! Bravo! 4.5 stars! ~Ratula

Wow! That one was a surprise. Fabulous book!
A car thief + a MC gang member = Dangerous combination
It had great characters and fantastic plot. It reminded me of "The fast and the furious" movies at times (stealing nice, fast cars and all that).
I loved it!!

5 "babe" stars

This book was so amazing!!😍 Every book by this author I have read till now has been amazing and I LOVE her writing style....so I am officially nicknaming Kate McCarthy as the queen of contemporary romance. Her books are a perfect blend of great plot, a barrage of emotions, beautiful characters, hilarious friendships and fun.....and this one was no exception.

If everything seems under control, you’re not going fast enough.

I loved Arcadia "Ace" Jones, the little car thief. She was such a kickass, fiesty beauty🖤 And her friend Echo....man, I wish she was a real person so I could befriend her😆

Ellington “Echo” Reid is a prodigy. We became friends at the age of sixteen when my ex-boyfriend leaked a picture of my naked boobs onto Facebook.
Echo was my new lab partner at the start of the term. She sat beside me, always wearing so many coats that most didn’t notice her at all. I thought she was mute until she slid her phone across the table and muttered, “These your tits?”

Kelly was a biker alpha with a dark past and a heart of gold. He stole my heart as soon as he shared his chocolate muffin with Ace. I wish he could have shared it with me but alas, the sacrifices we have to make. 😏 Also, his swoony body and audible orgasm like voice didn't help in dissuading my lust. See, it's totally his fault!

“I could be the type,” I reply. “That’s the issue. You don’t know me.”

“I do. Your name is Arcadia. You like triple chocolate muffins.” My mouth opens to reply, but he continues, leaning in to speak in my ear. “And I’m Kelly.” His voice is low. It tickles my skin, bringing shivers of pleasure.

“I like eating girls who eat triple chocolate muffins.”

The chemistry between the two of them was explosive and the sexy times were 🔥🔥. Everytime Kelly said "Babe" in that adorable, sexy way of his , my heart melted into a puddle just like Ace's did. (Someone please make that man real!!😭)

This book got me out of a MASSIVE book slump and I can literally hug it for that reason alone.
But, like I said, it's ah-fucking-mazing! So highly recommended 🖤🖤

OH MY GOODNESS! The Thief was such a great book and surprise! From my previous experience of reading Kate McCarthy, I know she's an excellent at getting you into her character's heads and bringing the feels and angst. I had no idea she could write a romance with strong romantic suspense elements and mesh everything as well as she did.

I loved Arcadia "Ace" Jones and Kelly Daniels. Both are flawed people, aware of their flaws. Besides an intense attraction to each other, I loved how deeply they loved the people they cared for. There was nothing they wouldn't do to keep their families safe.

This story is fast paced and intense, and I. COULD. NOT. PUT. IT. DOWN. I wanted more! I know this book is a stand alone, with characters from previous Kate McCarthy books making cameos, but I couldn't help but be especially intrigued by Casey Daniels and Grace Paterson. I haven't read the Give Me Series which is where their story appears but you can bet that I've added it to my tbr and will be changing that soon!

Kate McCarthy really surprised me with this book and I know if you give The Thief a chance, you'll be surprised and bowled over by it too!

ARC received for an honest review

The Thief is a stand alone, spin off of Ms McCarthy's Give Me series, and whilst it can be read without reading the series, I would at least read Give Me Grace as it Kelly's brother Casey's story and it does intertwine.

I freaking adore Ace. She is smart and full of sass and snark. Trying to get out of the "family business" is not working so well for her at the moment, and I love how she tries to do it all on her own.

Then Kelly Daniels enters her life, and he is all she never expected - and definitely not who she ever wanted.

I loved that even though they have their differences, both Ace and Kelly act (mostly) like adults and talk stuff out - none of this not talking and walking away BS here!

They also have some great back up when the poo hits the fan. I really, really want Echo as my best friend. Ace will share her, right?

I am a big fan of classic/muscle cars, so I may have drooled over some of the cars in The Thief. Oh, and maybe a little bit of Kelly too hehe.

It is hard to write this review without giving anything away, however I was engrossed in this story from the prologue right until the end.

Great characters, flowing story. Now I am impatiently waiting for the next book - we meet the characters for that one in The Thief.

Please don't keep me waiting too long Ms McCarthy.

4.5 "Chunks and Donkey" Stars!!!

The Thief was the perfect mix of adrenaline, suspense, steam with your added swoon. This was my first Kate McCarthy book and it most definitely won't be my last. The Thief took me on the most spectacular ride. I loved everything about this book and this story and especially the characters. And as soon as I finished the book all I wanted to do was read it all over again.

Arcadia "Ace" Jones is a car thief. She's been doing it ever since its been passed down to her. A family business, you can say. Stealing cars is a drug Ace can't get enough of. The thrill she gets and the high that goes through her is everything she craves. But even though she loves it, it's time to move on. And when she tries to retire, it's doesn't go according to plan.

Kelly Daniels' life hasn't been easy. Apart from that, his relationship with his brother isn't what it used to be. He lost a lot, and because of that loss it has made Kelly the man he now is. That includes being part of a MC, a Sentinel. It's hardened Kelly, but at the same time he gained brothers, a bond for life. There's a certain girl that has caught Kelly's eye. He can't get her out of his head. And when he ends up following her, he's surprised when he sees her in the middle of stealing a car. He's intrigued and without even knowing he's going to be wrapped up in Ace in more ways than one.

Ace and Kelly's chemistry was off-the-charts! With Ace's spunk added with Kelly's gruffness, these two were perfect for each other. And their banter had me laughing more times than not. I freaking loved these two. Ugh, and when Kelly's tender side came out I swooned so hard. Ace and Kelly were made for each other, the car thief and the sentinel were a match made in car heaven.

I was sad to see this book end. As soon as I finished I missed these characters and secondary characters. And low and behold that little nugget when I reached the end, and I read that there was going to be another book!!!! *happy dance* And it's about Fox and.... well I'm not going to say who cause then that'll ruin the surprise. But YESSSSSSS, so freaking ecstatic. I CAN'T WAIT!!!! NEED! WANT! NOW!

Mi sono sentito me stesso.

I think this book was such a great read with so many parts that were all connected and trying to figure them all out left me turning the page absolutely needing more. The depth to the characters, the background information for the characters and their current circumstances left me needing for nothing more

The Thief by Kate McCarthy

This is the first book I've read by Kate McCarthy and I am honestly surprized by this fact, I definitely will be reading more of her books.

Kate McCarthy's writing is excellent, this story is fast paced, extremely exciting, easy to read and is one of those books you can't put down.

This story is full of action, suspense, romance, excitement and one of the better love stories I have read recently. The characters are written so well that you end up loving both Ace and Kelly and you want them to end up Happy Ever After.

Ace has grown up in a family that expects certain things and of course it isn't the type of family that you can walk away from. It doesn't help matters that Ace is an extremely talented car thief. But Ace has dreams of living a better or maybe just a normal life. Kelly, he loves working on cars and bikes and is also very talented on what he does. Destiny is a funny thing so when Kelly and Ace end up crossing each other paths you can only imagine the chemistry and trouble these two get into.

The Thief is a definitely a book I would recommend, I also have to say that I would also recommend anyone reading this to read Kate's other books, her writing is fantastic.

I have rated The Thief a 4.5 stars, this book will not disappoint you. One of the best romantic suspense books I've read in a long time. So if you love reading books with a hot alpha male and a extremely sassy, mouthy, funny, smart female this is the book for you.

I was instantly hooked just by reading the Prologue. I mean damn! It was intense.

I don't want to give too much information away and it is difficult to leave a review when you don't want to spoil anything at all. I want the reader to experience it all organically.

Kelly Daniels, part of the Sentinels MC.

Arcadia Jones. The infamous Racer Jones, granddaughter, sister to The Ghost.

Arcadia a.k.a Ace meets Kelly, Shade, Daniels at a coffee Shop called The Fix. She's there on her last run before she goes on the straight and narrow.

There first conversation...goes like this...

" You want a bite?" Kelly
"Sorry?" Ace
" A bite. Of the Muffin." " You're looking at it like you wanna... -Kelly
" Like I want to what?" Ace
" Put your mouth on it." Kelly

They have amazing chemistry.

The book reads just like a movie, it is that good. I enjoyed every page. The characters were well developed and I fell in love with every single one of them. I am a lot in love with Luke Fox.

The second time they meet is at a work event of Kelly and his brother Casey. Only Luke sees Ace first. And then Kelly notices who he is at the bar talking to and of course he makes his way over... that conversation had me laughing so hard there were tears in my eyes.

I'm not alone. I have this ( waves phone) and I have Luke. - Ace
Luke's not yours. -Kelly
He's not? - Ace
I'm not? -Luke
No.- Kelly
You can't say that. Ace
I just did. -Kelly
I mean you can't tell me who's mine or who's not. - Ace
I can tell you whatever I like. -Kelly
Well technically that's true, but if I want Luke to be mine, it's not for you to say he can't be. - Ace

This conversation is utterly ridiculous.

I can be yours, if you want. -Luke
You're just that easy? -Ace
I can make you work for it if you're the kind who likes a challenge. -Luke

Kelly Daniels is so very swoon worthy. He gave me all kind of feels and is my favorite kind of Alpha Male.
She's not the kind of girl I'm use too.
I was raised in a household of violence, and from the age of 15, I belonged to the Sentinels. Warmth and kindness doesn't come naturally.

Fantastic book. 4 stars! This is my first book by this author but it will definitely not be my last. Fast paced, intense, and a lot of curves! A MUST one click for sure!

‘𝑵𝒐𝒊 𝒔𝒊𝒂𝒎𝒐 𝒊 𝑺𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒍, 𝒍𝒆 𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒆 𝒂 𝒈𝒖𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒊𝒂 𝒅𝒆𝒊 𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒊 𝒅𝒆𝒍 𝒏𝒐𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒐 𝒊𝒏𝒇𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒐 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒆. 𝑺𝒐𝒍𝒐 𝒄𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒓𝒐 𝒄𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒔𝒂𝒏𝒐 𝒂𝒗𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒂𝒓𝒔𝒊 𝒐𝒍𝒕𝒓𝒆 𝒒𝒖𝒆𝒊 𝒗𝒂𝒓𝒄𝒉𝒊 𝒗𝒆𝒅𝒐𝒏𝒐 𝒍’𝒐𝒔𝒄𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒂̀ 𝒄𝒉𝒆 𝒄’𝒆̀ 𝒊𝒏 𝒏𝒐𝒊 𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒗𝒂𝒏𝒐 𝒊𝒍 𝒈𝒆𝒍𝒐 𝒄𝒉𝒆 𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒆 𝒏𝒆𝒊 𝒏𝒐𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒊 𝒄𝒖𝒐𝒓𝒊’

Are you ready for a unique love story about a biker and a car thief? A kick ass GIRL car thief, at that. Are you a fan of bikers and Gone in 60 Seconds? If so than this is the book for you! Just a quick FYI, while this book does have biker elements, it isn’t the main focus. This is not your typical hardcore MC story.

For the last 6 months, I've been in a book hating mood. That was until The Thief.

With my slump, it took me a bit to get into it. There most definitely wasn’t any love at first sight. The falling was slow and I didn’t even realize it until it hit me dead in the face. My cold reader’s heart had become invested in this duo. The feels hit me so hard at one point that I was hiding in my bathroom bawling my eyes out. Hell, the whole second half had me facing some heavy roller coaster emotions.

You’ll not only fall for our leading man, Kelly, but you’ll fall even harder for his girl. Ace was my favorite part of this whole story. That girl had some balls. I think she may have given Kelly a run for his. LOL

Ace was sassy. She was bad*** in every sense of the word. She made this story what it was. I can without a doubt say Arcadia is my favorite McCarthy heroine. There was so much heart and depth to her character. She endeared you to her. She was the perfect balance between taking and giving. Love and friendship. Right and wrong.

While I liked Kelly in previous books, it had always been about Casey for me. But this man actually had me enthralled. Excited to get his story. There was so much broken inside him that I didn’t think he would ever fully heal. His hatred for his brother often got on my last nerve and I would scream at him to grow the F-up. But then, we would get a moment between him and Casey/him and Ace/ him and Fox that would have my heart swelling with pride and love for this beautiful man. And I would forget how much he had pissed me off. In my opinion, his character showed the most growth.

I can’t recommend it enough to one click this book. Kelly and Ace were an amazing, unstoppable team. They were ride or die.

Now I need me some Lee and Echo!!!
