ROCKPORT — A group of Rockport firefighters and one Select Board member are organizing for a possible drive to Rockport, Texas, to help with clean-up there following Hurricane Harvey.

First, however, the insurance and funding paperwork must get in order. This evening, at 5:30 p.m., the Select Board will convene for a special meeting in the Richardson Room of the town office.

    The agenda includes:

Vote to Authorize Fund Raising Efforts to Assist Rockport, Texas

Vote to Authorize Town Expenditures to Assist Rockport, Texas

Vote to Authorize Use of Certain Town Assets to Assist Rockport, Texas

    Adjournment

The fundraising is to take place online via GoFundMe, if the trip happens.

Rockport Select Board member Owen Casas has been communicating with Rockport, Texas, municipal officials to determine what help the city of 10,000 there might need. If he gets the word, two teams of Rockport firefighters and Casas will head south with two trucks to “do whatever is helpful,” he said.
