Leonard Nimoy, the actor who played “Star Trek’s” Spock, was rushed to the hospital with severe chest pains.

The Los Angeles Times reported that firefighters responded Thursday morning to the home of Mr. Nimoy, 83. He has been in and out of hospitals for the last few weeks, but paramedics rushed him to see a doctor this time, TMZ reported.

Mr. Nimoy announced in a Jan. 29 tweet that he had chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: “I quit smoking 30 yrs ago. Not soon enough. I have COPD. Grandpa said, quit now!! LLAP.”

LLAP is an acronym for Mr. Nimoy’s famous “Star Trek” phrase, live long and prosper.
