She uses her fame as a wall around her heart, and only he can tear it down.

Seth Rafferty knows Heather Wainwright’s type.

Demanding. Check.
Self-important. Check.
Leggy and blonde. Yeah, he knows the drill.

He’s been a Hollywood production designer far too long to have patience for A-listers with a superior attitude. Beautiful women with a chip on their shoulder are a dime a dozen.

Which is why his obsession with Heather makes no sense. Nothing about her is attractive.

Except the vulnerability under the sass. The honesty under the attitude.

So when wrap-party flirting gets carried away, Seth doesn’t stop it from turning into a sizzling night of passion. Too late, he realizes, one night isn’t going to get her out of his system.

On to plan B: uncover the real woman under the diva.

Soon Heather will find out that Seth isn’t just a simple carpenter she can use and lose without consequences. He’ll play the part of the builder, but it’s her walls he intends to break down.

"She uses her fame as a wall around her heart, and only he can tear it down."

Star Struck is a re-release for Laurelin Paige, but I actually hadn’t read it before. I’ve enjoyed some of her previous books, so when I was given an opportunity to read some of her earlier work I jumped at the chance. I love a great opposites attract story and reading about two different personalities coming together through the common thread of attraction was thoroughly enjoying.

From past experiences I don’t tend to like stories written in the third person, as I struggle to connect with the characters or the plot. I love stories written in first person or dual person point of view. I love getting inside the characters heads, which gives me a better understanding of their thoughts and persona. As this story is written in the third person I did struggle a bit to connect with these characters, but I still found the story an enjoyable one.

Heather is a famous Hollywood actress (or diva as some may call her), but she is so much more than that; she’s strong, determined and deeper than a lot of people give her credit for. Heather hasn’t always had the privileged superstar life of red carpet premiers and VIP parties, she has had her struggles and has had to claw her way out of them to achieve the life she has now.

Seth is a production designer, but is mistaken by Heather as just a carpenter. Personally I don’t think there is anything wrong with carpenters AT ALL, I love a man who wears a tool belt and is good with his hands. There wasn’t really much not to love about Seth; he was sexy, fun and was not intimidated by the hot shot movie star. He had no problem standing up to her and was not going to put up with her crap. He was determined to peel away her diva-like bravado and discover the real Heather underneath. He was positively swoon-worthy.

Even though I would have much preferred Star Struck to be told in either first or dual person POV, I still really enjoyed the fun, easy going and humorous nature of this story. If you’re anything like me and enjoy an opposites attract story that is relatively low on angst, then you should give this one a go. Seth Rafferty is sure to impress.

➦This enemies to lovers romance is written in the world of Hollywood. Heather, the heroine is a famous actress and the hero, Seth, is a Production Designer. Except when they meet at a charity event and Heather sees Seth doing carpenter's work, she automatically assumes he is just a carpenter.

➦And most of you are probably thinking, "Nothing wrong with that!" But for Heather, who dug herself out of poverty and into luxury, dating someone beneath her social status is a big no-no. Seth sees right through her and calls her out on her shit. When they meet again later he pursues her while still letting her think he is a carpenter.

➦Will she finally see that there's nothing wrong with being a damn carpenter??? Will she let her own insecurities go?

➦I'm a big fan of Laurelin Paige and her writing, especially her recent books - they seem to get better and better. Star Struck, unfortunately, didn't quite do it for me. Perhaps it's due to the fact that this is Laurelin Paige's earlier work that has been re-edited and re-published. I felt like this was a somewhat safe and sweet approach to writing, which I don't normally associate with this author.

➦There's nothing wrong with safe and sweet, of course. I enjoyed the book but, to be completely honest, the 3rd POV had me a bit detached from the story- I never quite got into it all the way- and the ending contained some drama llama that I though was completely unnecessary.

➦If you are looking for a famous celebrity (heroine in this case) trope and a sweet/sexy enemies to lovers romance then give this one a look. :)

4.5 Fabulous Stars!

This is a re-read for me. Star Struck is getting re-released on July 27th. I originally read it back in 2015 and I loved reading about Seth and Heather again. This is one of my favorite couples. I love, love that the heroine is the Star in this book. So many of the actor romance novels have the Hero as the huge star and the heroine the average everyday person. Although, I will say there is NOTHING average about Seth. He is famous in his own right, Heather just doesn't recognize who he is.

Heather has become known as the Diva in the entertainment industry. She earns this title but not in the way you think she does. She's a deeper character than what she lets everyone see. She has insecurities just like the average person. Don't get me wrong, she is a snob. She even admits to this, but you learn the reasons why she feels she has to be.

Seth, oh man Seth! I think it's safe to say I am a huge fan of Seth. It may have been sneaky of him to not reveal who he really is to Heather, but you can't really blame him either. Just like her, he wants her to want him for who he is not for what he does. Because of her trying to resist this "blue collar" worker and his insistence to push her past her snobbery, this was a very entertaining read.

3 It Takes These Two Star
* * * Spoiler Free-Limited Time, 99 Cents!!!
It is a known fact, the pasts we have, leave a mark on us... and sometimes, no matter the success or careers we have achieved... Those pasts, the pain, harsh words and shame can be difficult to shake. And when we allow ugly words said by ugly people continue to play a loop in our minds... it can cause fake walls to be built to hide behind.

Heather Wainwright has worked hard to get where she is... She is at the top of her acting career and is well respected...except she does have one little flaw...

She has a reputation for being a Diva... A Pain in Ass...
Oh, she is nice and sweet when need be... but she can become a bit demanding..

She has recently broken up with her ex... He couldn't seem to keep his hands off his last co star...
And what's sad is Heather is not all that heart-broken as she has not always be virtuous on her sets either.

We meet Heather as she is taking over the Spokesperson duties this year of a special pet charity of hers, Urban Arts Theater Company. They are know to reach work with communities and provide children in poverty a place to dream, act and learn. Heather was one of those children and she will always donate her time for any of their events. They do a special one every year called the 24 Hour plays... where everything from the idea, writing and then the performance happen in a 24 hour period. It is out of the box thinking and the public love the innovative plays they get to see while donating to the cause.

This year Seth Rafferty, a well established Production Designer has offered to do sets for all of the plays. Usually they haven't had sets. The sets will then be auctioned off with all of the proceeds going to Urban Arts, a huge bonus for their fundraising. Seth was thrilled to participate as he had history with the group, too. They gave him a way to see what was possible and from his first experiences holding tools and making sets, he knew his path.

These two meet and at first all things are charming, flirty and chemistry off the charts...Heather cannot believe how handsome Seth is and all of her lady bits are directing her to want more than chitchat...Seth is right there with her...although he is a little more hesitant... Actresses in the past have burned him... and he has seen snobby behavior from many...

As life would have it, intros start to happen and Heather realizes Seth is "just the carpenter" part of the lowly crew...She has made it a habit to never mix with crew...That loop in her head of being told "you will never amount to anything" has kept her away from ever being that person...who was told she was trashy and not worthy...

Seth, on the other hand, let's Heather continue to think he's the carpenter...he has no use for shallow snobby women and even though she knocks his socks off and he wants to show her whose boss in his bed...He will not give her the excuse to all of a sudden like him because of his different position or acceptable career.

Naturally, these two have chemistry off the page...and both cannot stop thinking about each other...There is an explosive moment where each cannot resist... and then the fight to pretend it never happened....

Star Struck is an earlier work of Paige. It has been re edited with a new cover. If you have been a Paige reader, you will see in this earlier work she is getting her writing legs under her. I felt there was an influence and nod to what was popular in 2014...an influence of what was happening in romance then...lots of sexy times with a rougher feel...Heather's arc had growth and Seth was the one who showed her all she could have if she wanted.

The story was easy to follow with a low threshold of angst.

This was a pleasant read. I remember when it was first published I didn't really want to give this one a try only based on the fact I didn't like Heather. Now I reconsidered because I'm a different reader, one who believes everyone has a story to tell and everyone has different experience to share. I gave Heather another chance and by the end of the book, I was glad I did because she's a interesting character who evolves so much during the whole book. You see her progress. You witness the reason she protects her heart.

Seth was a complete surprise to me. I didn't what to expect, would he be cute? Cocky? Alpha? Well he's all three. Interesting right? He also tries to protect his heart. He has his own demon to battle and even if his attraction to Heather is instant, his favorite hobby would be to put a certain "princess" back to earth.

Star Struck offers a fantastic balance between sweet moments and steamy ones. Our MC's undeniable attraction was terribly frustrating at first. Things escalate quite quickly and once they give in, it's an explosion of lust and feelings.

I enjoyed how Laurelin Paige makes her characters grow. She always had the ability to give this little something more in her books that makes me take a seat back and just analyze the way her flawed characters gain in maturity and change.

If you haven't met Heather & Seth years ago, here's your chance to change this right away.

Another entertaining and provocative must read from Laurelin Paige!

Star Struck was enticing and sexually charged, with an enemies-to-lovers romance that was undeniably HOT! It's stories like this one that makes Laurelin's books one-of-a-kind.

Not only do you get the "I hate you, but want you anyway" aspect from the story, but there are so many hidden and buried emotions that trigger the actions from both Seth and Heather. As much as both characters try to overcome their past, you realize that it's their said pasts that are controlling everything in their present and future. Their issues run deep, and it's only when they come together they begin to realize that they can have something special, something real. But with Hollywood literally in their back yard, these two need to learn to trust their feelings and each other. Otherwise they'll become another tragic Hollywood romance.

Star Struck sizzles with lust, desire, and combustible attraction. The romance and intimacy explodes with passion that will leave you hot and sweaty. The character dynamic was very engaging, pulling you in right from the beginning...emotionally driven with all the feels. And as always, Laurelin's writing was phenomenal and you'll have a really hard time putting down this book.

DNF at 30%

Both the hero and heroine in this book are pretty damn unlikeable. Based on the description, I thought the hero, Seth, would be doing the chasing, except he just keeps thinking about how he's not sure why, but he really wants to f*ck the heroine. She's a movie star, asshole, is it really a mystery why you want to have sex with her? Plus I was really appalled when he decided to perform oral sex on the heroine while she was so drunk that she she passed out twice. But we were supposed to think he's a good guy because he didn't take off his pants.

Our heroine, Heather, has some major hang ups too. Her father was an asshole and poor, so she assumes all "poor" people are assholes. (Not that the hero is really poor, but he just broke up with his fiancée and he feels the need to INSERT DRAMA.)

It's like this book has a checklist of all the tropes I hate. Hate sex? Check. Rapey hero portrayed as a good guy? Check. Recent breakup of serious relationship? Check. Unnecessary drama because a character lies for no reason? Check.

#STAR1

Star Struck by Laurelin Paige is a sexy, funny, and charming Hollywood romance that will leave readers blissfully satisfied. In this enemies to lovers story line, Paige allowed her readers to fall in love with the sexual tension of Seth & Heather as their first interaction with each other did not leave a great first impression. But as these two finally gets to know each other, Paige sets a steamy romance that will have Seth Rafferty starring as your newest book boyfriend this summer. With her sexy and playful prose, Paige writes a romance that was entertaining, lovable, and oh so passionate!!!!!

This was an entertaining and sexy enemies to lovers romance. We first met Heather in Sex Symbol, but we really get to know and see a whole other side to her in Star Struck. A case of mistaken identity between our characters just added to the fun. This book can be read as a stand alone, but some characters do appear in the book Sex Symbol.

I will admit that I was not a huge fan of Heather at the start of this book. It took me a bit to get past the snobbish and cold diva and see the kinder and more vulnerable woman underneath. Watching Heather battle the demons of her past and grow into a strong and confidant person was empowering. I also really loved Lexie and how she constantly challenged, but also supported, Heather. She was an amazing friend first and assistant second. I really hope that she will get her own story in the future.

Unlike Heather, I was smitten with Seth right from the start and that only increased as the story progressed. I loved that he called things as they were and his take charge attitude (in and out of the bedroom). He was unapologetic about his past and although I didn't fully agree, I did understand his reasoning for keeping his cards close to the vest. The best part about both Heather and Seth though, was that they each made the other person a stronger and better version of themselves. They had instant, red hot chemistry and there were times I thought my kindle might spontaneously combust from the heat from these two!

I really enjoyed this opposites attract romance and was glad there wasn't any unnecessary drama and that the angst centered on issues between our hero and heroine. I do wish there had been an epilogue or a little bit more at the end, but overall, this was a really fun and steamy read!

Quite funny and entertaining. The first part of the book was more upbeat than the second.
One of those fun reads that make you laugh out loud at times, even though you cringe other times :))

I didn't know if I would like this book as much as the first one....because from the first book Heather didn't seem like a character I could relate to or really like. Readers, I was wrong! I loved her and her character development especially at the end and I loved Seth and Lexie and how helpful they were!
The book ended and I was like "no....!" I wanted more!
So good! A well written story and great characters, I was "struck" by how good this book was! It made me so happy! And although I knew the problem was predictable and going to happen it was still a good read!

I hope Laurelin comes out with a third book. Pretty please? ^^

P.S. Love the nicknames and all you had to do was ask! ;-)

Star Struck by Laurelin Paige
3.5 stars!!!

“…even though I’m not proud of where I came from, I’m proud that it didn’t keep me from getting where I wanted to be.”

Laurelin Paige delivers an easy read with Star Struck. This is a perfect lounging on the sofa read, something to whittle away a few hours while lost in the lives of the rich and famous. This was an enemies to lovers read, one of my favourite tropes set in a Hollywood life, where first impressions and misconceptions are rife and snobbery is the norm.

“Being hurt in the past definitely changes how we act in the present.”

I will be honest and say the heroine was hard to warm up to, but the more you learned about Heather Wainwright the more you understood her, albeit wrong, reasoning to never punch below her weight. First instincts were she was a stereotypical actress, complete snob, the type that has a rider as long as her arm, but between the lines you saw a woman who came from nothing, believed she was nothing and was doing everything she possibly could to never end up with nothing again.

“I…I don’t know what you want…”
“Isn’t it too bad that you won’t let yourself find out?”

Seth Rafferty was adorable with a capital A. A man who came from humble beginnings and had worked his way up from the bottom. Seth was a man that had been burned in the past and as such kept his heart well and truly guarded. The last thing Seth needed was a prima donna actress, who couldn’t do anything for herself and would never lower herself to even communicate with a lowly carpenter.

This was a typically cute read, something that I do not normally associate with Laurelin Paige, her books normally have that edge to them and this was extremely safe by her usual standard. Since reading, I understand that this was one of her earliest books, re-edited, I did not realise this and that may be the reason that this was not what I normally expect from a Laurelin Paige read.

While the heroine was a struggle to warm up to, I soon took her into my heart once the superficial exterior was removed. Underneath was a woman that was inherently misunderstood and frightened to return to the life that she fought so hard to leave behind. A life that seems to sneak up and bite her on the backside when she least expects it.

“…It’s the same with wood. When the pieces are lying there spread apart, I can see what they can become – something completely different, yet totally the same. The thing they want to be. Don’t ask me how, but just like that I could see it for you. I could see what you wanted to be…Loved.”

This was all about loving somebody for the person they are, seeing underneath the façade and finding that person underneath. Misconceptions and prejudices put aside and embracing those honest feelings, finding love and giving love freely with no conditions. Overall this was a really enjoyable read.

Hollywood actress and notorious Diva, Heather Wainwright, is not going to date a blue collar carpenter. She worked too long and too hard to date someone "beneath" her. Seth Rafferty doesn’t date actresses, but he can’t help but be attracted to the beautiful actress he met at a charity fundraiser. Seth doesn’t want snobby Heather to know his real job, and lets her believe what she wants. Heather and Seth are keeping secrets. Little do they know that they are both more alike than they care to admit. When the truth comes out will the diva still like her drill carrying “Tool Boy”? Will she finally shed the diva act and let the real Heather shine?

This sexy and fun Hollywood romance is worth one-clicking.

Since I gravitate towards the first-person point-of-view (POV) format, it takes much more for the third-person POV format to get inside my head...to wow me. The detail must paint such a vivid picture and dialogue must be so abundant to where I'm so lost in the storyline that I forget what voice the story is told in and just become one with the words. Laurelin Paige wrote such a COMPELLING and COMBUSTIBLE story that I was lost in her words, embedded so deeply in Star Struck that I didn't want to let go.

Readers first met the heroine, Heather Wainright, in Take Two, the novel in the series that precedes this story. Heather was painted as a pampered princess, a demanding diva, and a self-centered snob. This Hollywood princess is beauty with brains, and much more than what she's been made to be. I loved watching this heroine morph from jilted caterpillar to formidable butterfly wearing new wings of compassion.

The hero, Seth Rafferty, is ALL ALPHA!!! He is so dominant and delicious!!! Mr. thigh-clenching-causing carpenter was my addiction!!! Seth is hot and humble, a lethal combination.

The banter between the hero and heroine is the best mix of SASS and STEAM!!!

"If you needed a drill, princess, all you had to do was ask."

"Don't call me that."

"Do you need a screw as well?"

Seth paired with Hollywood princess, Heather, makes for an arousing and rousing RUSH!!! This couple has chemistry in spades!!!

"It's because you act like a princess that I think you need to be a little bit manhandled."

The tension rolls off the pages, as the push and pull between the hero and heroine was a HEEDY and HEART-STOPPING SENSATION!!!

"I don't know what you want."

"Isn't it too bad you won't let yourself find out?"

The angst...the banter...the burn...I FELT IT ALL. PURE NEED...so INTENSE and INTOXICATING!!! Star Struck is smoldering hot with a huge amount of heart. I just didn't expect this story with sass and smolder to be so much more. The MORE being a message with both power and passion: RISE ABOVE. So simple but so soulful.

"I could see what you wanted to be."

"What was that?"

"Loved."

I LOVED this Hollywood glam meets carpenter gruff romance! With its off-the-charts character development and combative chemistry, this love story is Emmy-worthy. I was UTTERLY SPELLBOUND with Laurelin Paige's words again!!! Star Struck struck my soul, sending it soaring! I was rendered STAR STRUCK!!! ❤️

***ARC Provided by the Author***

Star Struck is a reissue of one of Laurelin Paige’s first books, but you can’t tell. There was some re-editing done, and while I had read this book previously, there wasn’t really anything that stood out as a major change in the story.

Laurelin is a favorite of mine, because of books like this. The story is so good, so perfect, and grips you so completely, you are not able to put it down. You don’t want to put it down. You want to know what happens next, and then you are sad when you are done. But, isn’t that what you want from a story? A book you can’t put down, that captures your heart and your mind, and then stays with you long after you have finished it? If you answered yes, this book (or anything written by Laurelin Paige) is a book you are going to want to read.

More.

Than.

Once.

Heather is cold, calculating, closed off, and as her inner dialog shows, at times, a bitch.

Heather should be difficult to like, and she should be the kind of heroine that makes you put down the book because you can’t connect with her. But she isn’t. Instead, she is one of the most relateable female characters I have ever read.

She is all of us.

Does she handle her insecurities in a way that makes her come across as someone awful? Yes, but haven’t we all? Don’t we all have a moment in which we were mean to someone, or less nice in a situation than we should have been, not because of the person, but because of a trigger the situation brought up in us? I know I have. And, this is Heather. She isn’t awful. She wants to be liked, appreciated, and loved. But, she thinks her past makes her unworthy of this…so instead of opening herself up to people, she is closed at the beginning of any relationship. She assumes that people won’t see her value, so instead of showing them the great person she is, she starts relationships as the person they won’t like, with the assumption they will end up feeling that way about her eventually, so she may as well save them the trouble.

Seth almost plays along with her, he doesn’t like her at the beginning, he finds her awful. But he wants her. This leads to some of the hottest angry sex EVER. Seriously, ever. It’s possible I have never read hotter angry sex. If I have, my brain exploded and I don’t remember it.

And, then it isn’t hate at all. It’s genuine attraction, and a desire to get to know one another, and a connection that is so much more than they ever thought they would have. The ending, after “the fight” is perfect, it comes full circle, and it shows not only how close they each have become as they joke about the things that were points of contention at the beginning, but how close they are, and how much they have come to realize they each mean to the other.

Then, you get their story, their connection. You see that, above all else, they really do like one another and there are things about them, about their past, that allows them to not only relate to one another, but to understand.

As you know from the beginning, Seth is not entirely truthful with Heather about who he is, and what he does for a living. But, this turns out to be ok. Well, maybe not ok, but you understand it. I have, usually, a hard time with the books in which one of the characters lies to the other through a majority of the book, as I have a hard time believing the authenticity of the relationship. But, in a wonderful way Ms. Paige makes this work. The writing, and the plotting of the story, are perfect and are done in such a way where his lies are almost necessary. And, what is the best is that they both realize this at the end. They really would not be where they are now if not for the fabrications at the beginning. I also think it matters that they are older characters, as this is a life realization that comes, I think, not only with finding someone who really supports you, but also with the realization that the opinions of others aren't always the most important things in life. This is a realization, I am guessing, that is even tougher when you make your living, as Heather does, in an industry that is all about the perceptions of others and how much they like what you do, who you are, and who they think you are.

Is this an endorsement of the plot based on a lie? No, LOL, as I am still not their biggest fan…but it is me saying that, for Heather and Seth, the lies at the beginning of the relationship made it possible for them to have any kind of relationship at all, as the people they are would not have connected without them.

Heather and Seth are going to stick with you, as they have a romance you can connect with, that you relate to, as more than just characters on the page. Obviously, I recommend this book.

I'm so lucky I've got to read 2 LP books this month. Star Struck is the second book (written as a standalone) in the Lights, Camera series and has also received a make over.

If you look up 'Diva' in the dictionary, there will be Heather Wainwright pouting right back at you. She's bigger and better than anyone else including 'the help' Seth Rafferty. It's a good fun read, plenty of pages of witty banter. There is more to both characters than meets the eye, walls are made to be broken, and they both do a great job at smashing them down.

I never read the series before they were re-edited and released, and I'm not disappointed as I've really enjoyed them with a fresh set of eyes.

I really liked Seth and Heather story. They are opposites, but also have incredible chemistry together. The one they can not resist.

Heather Wainwright is a actress. Really snobby diva, who looks at people from above. She thinks that Seth Rafferty is a carpenter, but he is a famous designer and he is really tired of the type of women like her. But one night, after a lot of drinking they ended up in bed together. And there were a lot of spark.

Heather is a little annoying, but Seth is a really great hero. And he will reward us everything. He wants to expose her true colors and shows that there are more important things than just an image. For this his half-truths added a little tension and uncertainty.

I really liked it. I enjoyed their bickering and hot moments. It could sometimes be frustrating because of her, but I still wanted to read on and find out how their story will end.

This is such a fun, sweet story. Oh my gosh, I loved it.

Seth is absolutely amazing! And oh my, he is hot, hot, hot. But alas, he is merely a carpenter and Hollywood actress Heather Wainwright would never be caught with a member of the crew.

Seth is determined to make Heather see him for who he is. Their chemistry is stifling and intense. He sees Heather’s vulnerability and the person who she really is outside of the Hollywood diva and snobby persona she exudes to the public. He’s insistent that he will get her to drop her barriers and see through her past, and understand that he gets where she is coming from. The problem is, Seth isn’t being completely truthful himself.

Heather’s transformation and the way she grew, was beautiful to witness. Letting go of the past and moving on was not easy for her. She was strong and her strength shined through.

Another fantastic read by Laurelin!

The Tool Boy and the Famous Actress will they be able to find a happily ever after or is the Diva Actress too high and mighty to fall for the Carpenter?!?!? I loved this Hollywood coupling and how the book centered around themselves and their drama. It's definitely not your typical Hollywood Starlet Romance.

"Honestly? I fell in love."
With an actress? That's always dangerous territory."
"Tell me about it..."

The beginning of the book hooked me in, but I was getting annoyed that it seemed all the heroine and hero thought of was being turned on. Then, the book quickly turned having much more substance in the story.

I enjoyed Heather & Seth's love story and how important initial judgements from first introductions can be. This story gave me all the feels in this steamy, quick read!

Another great book by Laurelin Paige.  When Heather Wainwright, a young, beautiful Hollywood actress, with a diva reputation meets Seth Rafferty, a sexy Production Designer while both volunteering for Urban Arts Partnership, sparks immediately fly and the sexual tension is evident.  However, Heather assumes that Seth is a carpenter and not up to par with her.  Seth sees that she looks down on him but isn’t giving up easily.  Heather continues to fight her attraction for Seth but Seth continues to woo her.  As their romance grows, they both have secrets to tell each other but are hesitate.  Will they be able to overcome their secrets?  Will their secrets be the end of them?  This book is definitely a “paige” turner.  I loved every minute of this book.

From Fixed On You Trilogy and now the Lights, Camera series, Miss Laurelin Paige writes stories that you can somehow “relate” to and enjoy reading like you are one of the characters in her books.

Star Struck was an amusing, enjoyable read from the author. It’s the story of Heather and Seth and the hilariously sweet and romantic development of their attraction to each other.

Heather Wainright is a Hollywood diva actress who came from an unhappy trailer life with addicts for a parent. She was kicked out by her father and she never looked back since then. Heather made her way to success all by her own determination to stand on her own two feet and make a life that’s tons better than her childhood life was. And she did. She was successful, rich, and in demand but having experienced a meager life, she also became snooty especially when it comes to who she dates.

Enter Seth Rafferty. The gorgeous, hardworking, witty Production Designer who let the snobby Heather believe that he was a set carpenter during their meeting for the 24-Hour Play. A lowly worker.

But why did he have to lie?

It turns out both of them are just proud people and they’re proud in different ways. Seth is proud of where he came from and how he succeeded, while Heather is too proud to open up and accept her past and well, to admit to herself that she is indeed attracted to a “carpenter”.

The journey of these two kept me up late at night laughing at their quirky banters and fanning myself when they get their sexy on. And I really mean sexy. Seth can be dirty-panty-melting talker. WHEW! How Seth cracked Heather’s walls made me cheer hard for him. He is a patient, down-to-earth guy who has been hurt before but he did not let it consume him. He took that hurt as a lesson which is why he did what he did to Heather. What started off as a simple test of reaction” became a lie that just snowballed. And that is when things become complicated for him. The attraction developed into deeper feelings and by then, he couldn’t admit the truth. He planned to. But he didn’t.

Heather slowly cracked and gave in to Seth. She learned how to deal with her past and her good for nothing father and most importantly, she learned how to stand up for herself and be strong instead of closed up. Be happy instead of carrying around the pain. She was a fun character and how I imagine most actresses can be. A diva but mostly just misunderstood and that they are different persons on and off camera.

So, how did Heather react when it finally came out?

Naturally, she was heartbroken. She finally trusted someone and he ended up lying to her. I understand how she must have felt right then. The things she laid out on the table, how she opened up not just about her feelings but also her past which almost no one really knew about and trusted Seth with suddenly became inconsequential. I felt her shock and I know it entered her mind that Seth doesn’t trust her. Because why else would someone keep up the lie of being “just a carpenter” when he was in fact a “successful self-made Production Designer”? He should’ve known better after months together that Heather really has a good heart and understand why she became snobbish with men.

Still, I also understand why Seth did it. At first, I did. Eventually, I just want him to be honest. If he did, it won’t take until the last few chapters of the book about him keeping his real occupation a secret and then 1 chapter for their reconciliation. That’s about the only thing that stole the .5 from a 5-star rating for me. It could have been a big deal but the build up of the story and the personalities of Seth and Heather has more than made up for it and maybe I’m just being avid and wants to read more about this couple!

Stars: 4.5 stars!

My fingers could not turn the pages fast enough on this hot book!!! I found Seth very easy to fall in love with... Heather took me a little longer to love, but once her sky high walls came down and I got to see the "real" Heather I was all in! This book was so down to earth and the broken pasts were so easy to relate to! True love always wins and was proven in this book. Laurelin has done it again! Loved this story of Seth and Heather! A must read!

BANGOR BELLE BOOK BESTIES
I voluntarily read and arc copy of this book in return for nothing but an honest review.
This book has been re-vamped and re-edited and is due for release on 27th July
This is an opposites attract Romance and omg they weren't just opposites they were Poles APART!  or were they? I hadn't read this book previously and i really don't know why !!!!!!!!!!!! It can be read as a standalone, although we first come across Heather in Sexy Beast the first book in the series.

Heather is a Hollywood leading lady, and she sure does know it. Diva is kind of a mild word to describe her. I can't say i particularily liked Heather. She really was pretty obnoxious and a snob, yet it seems there was something underlying within her.  She crosses paths with Seth Rafferty, a lowly carpenter, who just builds sets at one of her charity performances.  She dislikes him and his "take no crap attitude"which increases instantly, even though she is massively attracted to him, feeling he is beneath warranting her attention because he's only a carpenter. Now she just has to dismiss the emotions and feelings he cause's when he's in her vicinity.

Seth dislikes Heather, she's a snob, she's a diva, she cares for nothing but keeping up appearances, but even with all this, he still thinks she is the most beautiful and sexiest woman he's ever met and he wants her !!  REALLY WANTS her!!

OMG I LOVED THIS BOOK, both Heather and Seth were such strong characters, that the more you found out about them, the more your emotions and your heart got gripped into their life. Both were dealing with their own issues and both were hiding secrets neither of them has had an ideal past.  The more they fight their feelings, the hotter and steamier it gets. I really did need to fan myself a few times!!. Their stubborness had me wanting to knock their heads together a few times.  But mostly what loved most about this book, isn't just that Laurelin Paige give us a real meaty, hot steamy love story. She give us the kind of love story that reaches every part of you, with smiles, tears and cussing all in one page !!! But what happens when two opposites combine, to make something perfect, and the secrets start to unfold. Can Seth keep his woman?  Will she still even want him? I loved how we got so deep into the characters, and we watch Heather grow and evolve from a tight closed bud to a beautiful blooming rose . Both her and Seth  let go of their walls and become the kind of person they always wanted to be and feed each others souls. I started out luke warm with Heather, and quickly developed respect and admiration for her.  I never ever thought the words, hot, sexy, perfect man could combine with the name Seth, but i can tell you, it does now !!!!

What happens when you allow perceptions and stubbornness to get in your way? This is exactly what happens in Star Struck.  Heather Wainwright is a high profile actress who comes from the wrong side of the tracks and fears being branded ‘White Trash’. Seth Rafferty is a humble and giving Production Designer who also was raised on the poorer side of life.  Only he doesn’t see it as a secret to hide and be ashamed of. Emotions run high in the first part of this book.  Heather first meets Seth and when she comes to believe he is a carpenter she takes a step back.

“He was too appalled—and turned on—to speak.  Anything he said would just get him in trouble, and not the good kind of trouble.”

The chemistry between Seth and Heather is combustible.  Seth knows Heather's type:  ‘Demanding, and self-important’, so rather than reading her in on his actual profession Seth allows her to believe he’s just a carpenter. Very rarely do I find a romance book where I have more empathy for the male lead. This very action occurred whilst reading Star Struck.  I truly got whiplash with my feelings towards Heather.  There were times when I preferred her PA Lexie more so than her. Heather, in my mind became redeemable when she became a human being with feelings.  When her past rode her back, when she didn’t know which way to turn, but knew that Seth was intoxicating and she couldn’t get enough of him.

“She wished it could cover up Seth’s bite marks and her flushed face, and her trailer park past and her pathetic excuse for a soul that never let her move anywhere beyond white trash.”

Enemies to lovers more often than not work for me because of the abundance of emotion in them.  I relish the push and pull of the Hero/Heroine trying to figure out whether they want to slap or kiss each other.  The passion, when the book is done right, makes the pages sizzle when it comes to the more intimate scenes.

Since I discovered this author, I have found her books to be ones that I always enjoy.  Be it because of emotions they elicit, because of a the characters or scenarios she creates, they all feel incredibly real to me. The twists and turns oftentimes leave me pondering or downright obsessed with how and why something happened. Laurelin Paige has fast become an auto-click author for me and Star Struck has only cemented those feelings in me.

~ 3.5 Stars ~

Star Struck is one fun and steamy enemies to lovers romance. I went into this completely blind and I'm glad I did. Not that there is anything crazy or has some weird twists. It's just that it is easy to stereotype or have specific expectations going into something and it was nice not to have that with Star Struck. I also didn't know it had be previous release and was re-edited with a new cover.

Heather Wainwright is one of the hottest actresses in Hollywood right now and she has a bit of a Diva reputation. There's so much more to her than what the pubic sees but Heather doesn't let anyone know that. Except for her assistant. There's a reason why she is the way she is and we finally get to figure it out all thanks to the hot carpenter guy that she meets and becomes instantly attracted to and ends up his enemy.

The moment Seth Rafferty locks his eyes on Heather, he knows he's a goner. The problem is, she's a complete Diva and he can't understand why he is so attracted to someone yet at the same time he wants to strangle her. All he knows is that he's ready to find out just who Heather is, no matter what it takes.

The tug of war between Seth and Heather was just down right delicious. The sexual tension between the two while teetering on that love/hate line has you glued to the book, wanting to see what's going to happen with them.

I'll be honest and say that I didn't really connect with the characters as much as I would have liked. I liked the story and it kept me interested, I just wasn't fully invested in them emotionally. Even though this considered a light read for me because of how much dark I like, I still wish I had a deeper connection. I did feel like I connected a bit more to Seth than Heather. Probably because of his alpha bedroom tendencies sucked me in. Haha

Overall, I enjoyed this book. It's a fun, easy read with a seriously hot and sexually demanding hero. It's pretty light and doesn't have much angst. Normally I crave angst but I didn't feel like I needed it here.
