Partition of Bengal

The decision to effect the Partition of Bengal was announced in 7 July 1905 by the Viceroy of India, Lord Curzon

Reason given was that the existing province of Bengal was too big to be efficiently administered by a provincial government

The partition took place on 16 October 1905

Separated the largely Muslim eastern areas from the largely Hindu western areas

The two parts of Bengal were reunited on 12 December 1911 (Viceroy-Lord Hardinge)

Song composed by Rabindranath Tagore for anti Partition movement - Amar Sonar Bengal

The angle traced by minute hand in 1 min = 360/60= 6° The hour hand makes one complete rotation (360°) in 12 hours. The angle traced by hour hand in 1 hour = 360/12= 30° The angle traced by hour hand in 1 min = 30/60= 1/2° The hands of the clock are opposite to each other for 11 times in 12 hours and 22 times in a day.  Between 5 and 7 the hands are at opposite direction only once at 6’ O clock The hands of the clock coincide each other for 11 times in 12 hours and 22 times in a day.  Between 11 and 1 the hands coincide only once at 12’ O clock The hands are at right angles 44 times in a day Angle between hour hand and minute hand is 30H - 11/2 M H - hour , M - Minute If the angle exceeds 180° subtract from 360° ignore the negative

Progression | Maths

Arithmetic progression (AP) is a sequence of numbers satisfying the condition that the difference between any two consecutive numbers is constant If the first term is denoted as ‘a’ The common difference as ‘d’ The number of terms as n.   Then nth term is a n = a + (n – 1)d. Sum of n terms, Sn = n/2 [2a + (n - 1) d] = n/2 (first term + last term). Sum of the first n natural numbers 1 + 2 + 3 + … + n = n(n+1)/2 Sum of squares of the first n natural numbers 1 2 + 2²+ 3²+ …. + n² = n(n + 1)(2n + 1)/6 Sum of cubes of first n natural numbers 1³+ 2³ + 3³ + …+ n³ = (1 + 2 + 3 + …+ n)² = [ n(n + 1)/2]² Sum of the first n odd numbers 1 + 3 + … + (2n – 1) = n² Sum of the first n even numbers 2+4+...+2n= n(n+1) If a,b,c are three consecutive terms of an AP then 2b=a+c Geometric progression (GP) is a sequence of  terms in which each succeeding term is obtained by multiplying its preceding term by a constant If first term is
