This is a compensated review from BlogHer and Jimmy Dean, however the opinions and feelings expressed here are my own.
With another New Year coming up right around the corner, I have been thinking I should probably try to make a few changes to my eating habits, preferably by trying to eat a better breakfast cause you know, 'A Better Breakfast makes a Better You'. Anyone else feeling like this lately? With having three kids to take care of, I'm definitely feeling a lot less focus on what I eat. I'm always making sure they eat healthy but I'll freely admit that I don't always follow my own rules. Candy for breakfast? If you're my kid, there's no way that's gonna happen. If you are me, sure why not...it makes for a quick breakfast...right!?! I really need to eat a lot less of these...
{Crunchy and salty but not good for the waistline.}
I really need to start eating a good breakfast loaded with protein so I can get through my day. And we all know how loooong a day can be when you have kids.
Oh, how I love me some naptime and bedtime :-)
We all hear about how eating a good breakfast can set the tone for the rest of your day, haven't we? Eating protein keeps us fueled up and feeling fuller longer...exactly what I need and what better time than the New Year to start doing so!
Jimmy Dean has a new line out called D-lights and they asked me to try a few of them out. Man, let me just say they really are deee-lightful! They are the perfect breakfast for any momma-on-the-go. They are fast and easy and you only need one hand to eat heat them up AND eat them...Yay!
...And guess what else? They have between 15 and 23 grams of protein too!
See, I'm not lying! 17 grams of protein in one sandwich! ONE sandwich!!! This is exactly what I needed to get my New Year and my Better Breakfast/Better Me attitude off to a running start!
Turkey Sausage. Whole Grain Bagel. Cheese. Egg.
Dee-lightful!
A good breakfast full of protein will definitely keep me fueled and help keep me going strong so I can lace these up everyday...
And take this little doggie out for some well needed exercise!
{Don't you see the begging in her sweet little eyes!?!}
Now it's your turn!
Tell me what you plan to do in the New Year to make yourself 'A Better Breakfast, Better You'. What are you trying to eat healthier for breakfast? Are you trying to work out more? Or just have a little more balance in your life? Just leave a comment below with your answer and you will be entered for a chance to win a
$100 VISA gift card!!
Giveaway ends January 30, 2011!!

We are cooking more meals from real food and giving up soda. The soda is not going to be fun :(
I have been trying to get back into the routine of meal planning. It makes cooking a healthy meal seem so much easier when it's aready planned out and all the ingredients are in the house.
Eat more oatmeal and drink more water. Baby steps, you know.
Need to drink more water and watch the calorie intake.
I'm trying to make sure I'm always hydrated instead of waiting until I'm dehydrated to do something about it.
We are cooking more at home. It is helping out money and weight budget.
I usually skip breakfast all together so my goal is to eat breakfast, since it is the most important meal of the day and all!!
We're meal planning again, drinking more water, and implementing family exercise time. In the past, meal planning worked wonders, but we've strayed during an unplanned renovation. Last year we cut out soda, hoping to dwindle the gatorade - my kiddos love it after karate.
We are giving up processed foods. Well...most of them anyways. :) I can make bread....but pasta...maybe one day! :)

Trying to drink more water and more servings of fresh fruit and veggies! tracietrump@yahoo.com
I am going to try to exercise more and eat more veggies!

My family and I have been trying to eat healthier for a few months. Fruit in the morning with toast has been good for me. I plan to keep it up! We go as a family to our local athletic club at least twice a week.
In 2011 my goal is to Zumba at least 3 times a week and keep a food journal.

I'm trying to eat gluten free to see how much of an impact it has on me.
I am meeting a few times a week with billy blanks in my living room! I hope the results come quickly! Thanks for the great giveaway! tai @ taidye original
Yep, I'm with you on the chips. I need to back off on those and the late night munchies!
We're trying to lessen the amount of yummy yummy white carbs we eat, and also increase our protein with simple swaps such as using Greek yogurt instead of regular yogurt (this is an easy one, since everyone loves the creamy Greek yogurt and it has triple the protein of regular yogurt and no fat).
In the new year i plan to exercise more and drink no soda. It will be especially hard because i work in a restaurant. I will also try to eat more fruit!

I'm trying to cut down on my snacking & sweets. We're really good about eating healthy meals but it's all the in-between stuff that gets me!

My resolution includes losing my baby weight :( Its not going to be easy. I plan to exercise A LOT more than I do. And ofcourse eating healthier, by keeping a food journal and cutting out soda.
Since I'm so much older than you are, I figured out the importance of a good breakfast a long time ago, so I don't think mine really needs improving. ;)
But I'd still like a chance to win! :)
More water, fruit and veg :)
My husband and I are going to exercise more, eat smaller portions, and eat more fruits and veggies.
Those look delicious. We're in oatmeal mode right now but I could always use some protein. Anyway, I ant to be better about meal planning so we don't have to eat less nutritious stuff for dinner.
Those look delicious! I wonder if I can get my picky husband to eat them too! I need to work on eating better this year too-- I usually end up eating either nothing or some candy that is sitting on my desk at work for breakfast and by the time lunch rolls around I am starving!
Looks yummy. I'm going to hit the gym a bit more this year!
I am determined to make it all the way through the P90x workout series. For real, this time...
My goal is to decrease my sugar intake...my only addiction in life ;) and to start walking more. Wish me luck, I think I may need it!!!
I'm going to eat the healthy food with less of the unhealthy additions - like peanut butter.
I plan to get the rest of the junk food out of the house that I had now and again when i was pregnant. Time to lose the baby weight!

I am going to stop buying junk food and start running!

One thing I think I will try is actually EATING breakfast. I hate breakfast foods, and am usually too rushed in the mornings to make something health. I will have to pick up those Jimmy Dean bagel sandwiches at the store next time!
Mgunter513@gmail.com
I'm trying to eat healthier meals at home and eat out less. Since I work full time, I rarely have time to cook dinner when I get home but I'm really going to try to make healthy meals for me and my family.
I plan on running even more next year! I am a runner now but I want to step it up and train for a marathon!
For the new year I intend to keep my working out pretty constant. Right now I am working out everyday because I am home, but once the new year starts I go back to school and it is hard to keep up with workouts, kids, husbands, and cooking!

I am looking to find some more balance. I would say my life is a little chaotic. It's ok for me to say NO once in a while. I also promised my husband that I would keep my nightstand clear (it's my catchall spot). We are going to the gym or walking and eating healthier. jessicajnorris@hotmail.com
Just trying to live in the moment, excercise getting ready to try for baby #3 and want to be healthy!!
Like you, I need to eat a better breakfast and drink more water.
2011 will be the year for ME. I have to start taking better care of me in order to help those around me.
I just started meal planning and plan to continue it into the near year. Instead of just thinking of something quick and easy on hubby's way home, I'll sit down and plan a balanced meal.
I am going to try to eat more proteins for breakfast and lay off the carbs.

For me a better breakfast will be one that's more nourishing than just a cup of coffee. Looks like Jimmy Dean's are just what I need. Think I'll listen to his music while starting the day too.
Trying to use more brown rice and wheat flour!
I am rejoining Metabolic Balance in January to shed those unwanted pounds!! On that plan, I eat a full meal at breakfast each day! Meat, veggies and fruit!

I'm aiming to take the kids for 2+ mile walks in the neighborhood at least 4 times a week. That gets me off my rear end and gets the kids out for fresh air.
My plan for the new year is to go back to planning menus and shopping accordingly. It makes life alot easier and we then eat healthier & eat less junk.
I plan to make small changes through the year, like eating more veggies and moving more.
I'm going to make my own fitness a priority, and work in as much movement to my days as I can! Also, I really need to force myself to eat breakfast. It's just too easy for me to not make that a priority in the rush of getting four kids ready in the morning.
I think for me sleep is the key to both fitness and balance. I deprive myself of it way too much!
I can't seem to function without my coffee in the morning, but I am trying to be better about all the junk I eat along with my coffee. I'm also trying to do some pilates while it is brewing as an incentive to get my day started off right!
I have started to make low fat granola for the family- less preservatives, more filling and the kids love it! (Maybe not the best thing for me if I can't keep it to one small serving.)
I actually need more breakfast (something balanced before work, not a cookie on the run!) and less late night snacking. This is my goal for the new year.
We are trying to watch our portions, but haven't done very well so far.
I'm going to be getting back in shape after my 2nd baby (due any day now!!!). I plan to focus on incorporating whole foods and gradually increasing to a more intense workout routine. I would love to do a race or some other fitness event before the end of the year.

I have resolved to actually eat breakfast in the morning. Usually I just run out of the house and don’t even think about it. So by mid-morning, I am starving and I have to go the vending machine to get something to snack on. So by eating a healthy breakfast every day, I should be able to curb all of the snacking that I do.
Priorities...Prioritize precious family time...prioritize healthy habits...prioritize prayer time...prioritize exercise...
