She's loved him forever...

The last thing traveling nurse Evie Steele expects to find aboard the RV housing her mobile health clinic is her brother’s best friend. As always, Deke’s close proximity stirs her forbidden desires and long-suppressed dreams. But his sudden reappearance in her life and curious interest in her patients makes Evie wonder what he’s hiding.

...but now his secrets could destroy them both.

Special agent Deke Conrad is in big trouble. Not only does he have a thing for his friend’s little sister, but what should be a routine mission is turning into a tour of temptation and survival. He fooled himself into thinking he could keep the beautiful and dynamic Evie in the dark while he used the cover of her Med Mobile to track down a merciless wildlife trafficker. But he didn't anticipate the lure of her scent or the warmth of her smile…or the string of dead bodies littering their path.

When Evie winds up in his enemy's crosshairs, Deke must unleash every weapon in his arsenal to save her, including his heart. But will he be too late?

Roaming Wild by Tracey Devlyn
Steele Ridge #6

Evie Steele knows what she wants and what she wants is Deke Conrad in her life as more than her oldest brother’s best friend. She wants him for much much more and she wants him forever. Deke, being older and working as a special agent in black ops for the Fish and Wildlife Service, has had a hankering for Evie for years but with his job and the 12 years between them has always kept a respectful brotherly distance. The potential for a relationship between Evie and Deke becomes more than just a possibility as they spend time together on the road while Evie and a nurse practitioner dispense medical services to the poor and Deke tags along to “write an article” while also trying to unearth a ring of smugglers of poached animal parts. The Steele family members from other books in the series make appearances from time to time but this action-packed romantic suspense is all about Evie and Deke finding a way to eventually have the HEA they both want.

I liked Evie – she was intelligent, knew what she wanted, was strong both physically and emotionally, and was great partner material. She always looked for ways to deal with whatever came her way and never gave up. Deke was an alpha male and leader of his team. He was a good friend, team player, honest, caring, tender and yet tough, and more than capable of dealing with anything that came his way.

I had the feeling that Deke’s team would make a great spinoff series for Ms. Devlyn to pursue…since all of the members of the team are bright, attractive, interesting and…single…I kind of hope there is a series about them to read in the future. I would like to thank the author for the copy of this book – this is my honest review.

ROAMING WILD by Tracey Devlyn is an amazing Romantic Suspense. “Steele Ridge” Book 6 , but can be read as a stand alone. If you enjoy family saga, then I’d suggest reading the other 5 books in the series. However, not necessary to enjoy this story.

The hero was a ruggedly sexy, strong and a protective, alpha male. The heroine was feisty, brave and brazen, a true heroine. I loved Evie and Deke, their story was intriguing in itself, but when added in the suspense, and mystery, WOW!

The conflict was enough to keep me turning pages. I was emotionally invested from the first page to the last. The plot flowed seamlessly and continuingly. Fast paced and action packed with conflict, danger around every corner and the wildlife aspect was a plus for me. I enjoyed the fact Evie had issues, with panic attacks, as one who suffers from them occasionally, the author nailed it!

An intriguing story with all the drama, emotions, conflict, suspense, mystery and romance a great Romantic Suspense should have to impress readers and keep them returning to Steele Ridge. Simply flawless, in my humble opinion!

A must read for Romantic Suspense lovers, and fans of the “Steele Ridge” saga. Tracey Devlin is one of my favorite Romantic Suspense authors. She writes such thrilling, page turning stories, with emotional turmoil, as well as family oriented stories. The twists and turns were surprising, intriguing, and impressive. Another hit for Tracey Devlin!! Can't wait to visit “Steele Ridge” again, and learn what is in store for readers and the Steele family. I adore the Steele family!

Enjoyed the action packed story.

With enough romance between Agent Deke and Evie Steele, the story still manages to keep it thrilling as an action thriller. Evie is a strong woman and the age difference between Deke and Evie does not seem to matter at all as they try to solve the animal trafficking around the area.
Enjoyed the romance suspense.

This is Evie Steele's story. This book is part of the Steele Ridge series. I absolutely love this series. In this book Evie who has secretly been crushing on her brother's friend Deke for years, but he is older than her and seems to only think of her as his friends little sister.
Deke has been in love with Evie for years, but doesn't want to risk losing his friendship with her brother and her entire family. When Deke returns to Steele Ridge he discovers that Evie is all grown up and is busy with her career. As fate would have it Evie is working on a traveling medical van and Deke ends up traveling with her and the rest of the crew so that he can write about them, or at least that is what he tells them.
Deke and Evie are a great couple, things heat up, and Deke's job brings danger to Evie and th rest of the people on the medical van. Deke's brother Dylan is also in danger.
This one has a lot of twists and turns, action, love, humor and interesting turn of events. It will keep you guessing and turning the pages for sure.

'Roaming Wild' by Tracey Devlyn is book 6 in the " Steele Ridge" series. This is the story of Evie Steele and Deke Conrad. I have not yet read the other books in this series so for me this was a standalone book.
Evie is a new nurse who is volunteering to help people with medical care in areas that need it. Deke is a Special Wildlife Agent who is trying to bring down people who are doing illegal trapping. Deke is Evie brother's best friend and is someone Evie has always had feeling for. Deke finds Evie attractive but keeps his distance because of his friendship with her brother and their age difference. But can they keep avoiding their feelings when they meet again?
Evie and Deke story has some excitement and it is a fast past read. Overall I loved it.

** I received Roaming Wild from Author's Pal and the author in exchange for a voluntary and honest review**

Roaming Wild by Tracey Devlyn is the sixth book in her Steele Ridge series and I think the best one yet. I loved that Evie Steele and Derek "Deke" Conrad finally got their own story. I can hardly wait for Jonah's book but will try to be patient.

Evie Steele is finished with her RN nursing degree and has returned home to Steele Ridge and she has her eyes on one person, Deke Conrad, and only him. She is determined to wait him out if she has too but first she's getting ready to go out into the hills with Lisa a physicians assistant in the Med Mobile to help the various town folks who would otherwise not have medical care. Little does she know that Deke is going with her because his current case with USFWs SONR but he has to stay away from Evie for various reasons that he'll soon decide aren't really important anymore. There will be intrigue, illegal animal trade, kidnapping and one Ninja Warrior princess Evie who'll take down the bad guy with pepper spray and a good push out a window before all is said and done.

Derek "Deke" Conrad loves his job as team lead on SONR (Special Operations for Natural Resources) and he hopes that he'll soon find the kingpin of an illegal animal parts but since he's back at Steele Ridge he first convince himself that staying away from Evelyn Steele is the best thing. Plus his best friend Britt won't cause harm to him as the Steele brothers are very protective of their sisters. But when an operations goes sideways injuring him and his team mate Matteo he decides to go home to recover. He knows somehow his father is involved in his current case but when he joins Evie and Lisa on their rounds in the Med Mobile little does he know that in Haden's Hollow he'll be confronted with his brother, two murders, a betrayer among his team and how in the world is going to keep his hands off Evie for two weeks?

I loved this story and also catching up on the rest of the Steele Ridge brothers and wives plus maybe finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel on who is really behind the Distributor wildlife ring plus I can't wait to read Jonah's story.

Deep breath. That is exactly what I had to do when I finished reading Roaming Wild by Tracey Devlyn. My heart was beating out of my chest and I almost couldn’t blink or read fast enough for fear of missing something near the end of the book. Devlyn writes a dark, romantic suspense filled with evil villains that make you shudder but balances it out well with a romance between life long friends.

Roaming Wild is Evie Steele’s story. If you have read the other books in the Steele Ridge Series you have met Evie already and know she is the youngest sister of four brothers and a sister. She doesn’t back down from things easily and is sick of being treated like a little girl. As the best friend of Evie’s older brother, Britt, Deke Conrad has played it cool with Evie, not wanting to mess things up. His job as a Special Agent takes him away for long periods of time and requires him to keep secrets. Evie is just starting her nursing career. Deke is a decade older than Evie and would like to start a family. They are in different places, according to Deke and just doesn’t think it will work. Evie won’t give up.

Devlyn writes a very creative mystery with many different connections and somehow keeps it all straight, allows the reader to easily follow along, and entertains us from start to finish. She really takes your emotions on a ride, so make sure you are ready! Devlyn always brings me new and exciting careers for her characters and I end up with a new appreciation for things in life that I know nothing about. In this story, she teaches me about wildlife trafficking. I didn’t even know there was such a thing. Nor did I know about Special Agents other than those in the FBI or CIA!

The romance between Deke and Evie is fun to watch. It’s not super flashy or sexy, but it fits the two of them and how long they have known one another. I love Evie’s tenacity and Deke’s soft spot for Evie. He doesn’t even stand a chance. It was a nice give and take between the two of them with a few passionate moments that were exactly what we needed to give us a break from the evil Harwood family. If you are looking for an original, emotional, romantic suspense give Roaming Wild a read.

Evie Steele has just graduated from college and begun her nursing career. Her first job is traveling around in a mobile health unit to very poor areas in the mountains surrounding the small town where she grew up. Evie is intelligent, hard working, dedicated and knows what she wants for her life. She is the youngest of six siblings and her four brothers are very overprotective of her.

Deke Conrad is her brother Britt’s best friend and 12 years older than Evie. He is a Special Agent with SONR - Special Operations for Natural Resources and team leader. No one knows his true job, just what he uses as a cover. He works undercover a lot and spends many months at a time away from family and friends. He is alpha, sexy, always prepared, and also very protective of Evie.

Evie has had her sight set on Deke for many years. She’s done waiting for him to make the first move. When he decides to ride along with them on their route during his recovery, she knows it’s the perfect time to make her move.

These two make a great pair and team. The way these two figure out and work through their differences fits their personalities well. They neither one back down from a challenge. I loved that Evie is a strong, capable woman.

Animal trafficking is a horrible, sadistic business and parts of the book had me cringing. The Harwoods are evil, psychotic people.

The story flows well, characters are well developed, emotions fly all over the place. This is a romantic suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat. While this is the 6th book in the series and previous characters make appearances, it can be read as a standalone. I have only read the first two and had no problem picking this one up.

This is my first book by this author and I look for ward to reading others. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC provided by the author.

Evie Steele, a traveling nurse, has always wanted Deke Conrad for more than just her brother's best friend. He had a thing for her as well, but as he's older, and younger sisters of friends are off limits he's never acted on it. Deke is now a special ops agent on a case that brings him back into Evie's world, as he shows up at her mobile health clinic. Evie's suspects Deke is hiding something after he's taken a big interest in the patients that she sees. And Deke believes that he can keep Evie in the dark, and keep her out of it. But not only is she smarter than that plan, being in close proximity with her, the attraction that they both harbor, is not going to be denied. But will Deke be able to protect her when the dangerous enemy he's chasing has Evie in his path? This book was an exciting read that kept my heart racing cover to cover, and there were parts where I found it hard to catch my breath. Tracey Devlyn has a very talented writing style that instantly captivated me, and transported me into her world. And I found myself more than once, talking to the story like I was part of the team. This book has it all, intense suspense, f-bomb worthy twists & turns, chemistry that flew out of my kindle, great characters that instantly dug themselves into my heart, and a bit of angst in unrequited love/lust. I literally couldn't move until the very last page, and the I was upset as I had to come back to my somewhat boring life with no football. Anyhow, I could gush all day long, but instead, I'm going to just end by HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDING Roaming Wild to ALL & SUNDRY!

Loved this story. I have only read two of the Steel Ridge books, and have loved each one as well.
This one is not for the faint of heart. But if you are looking for a story filled with suspense, intrigue, whodunit, evil characters, wildlife trafficking, strong female characters as well as hunky male characters, this one is for you. A book that you will not want to put down.
The main characters are Evie and Deke. Evie has been in love with Deke for most of her life, but he is 12 years older and best friends with Britt, one of Evie’s brothers. Which meant, best friend’s little sisters where not to be messed with. Evie is about to graduate from nursing school and is working in a mobile clinic that goes to small towns in the mountains.
Deke, is a Wild Life special ops agent that frequently goes undercover. He posses as a journalist .
It’s been a year since Deke has been back home .This time due to an injury . He too has been attracted to Evie, but feels he’s too old and jaded for her. Plus, she is just starting her career and her life.
The bad guys will make your hair stand up but thank God, the good prevails. In the midst of all the drama, and suspense, family loyalties are strong and these two realize that obstacles can be overcome and that their HEA can be achieved.
Once again, Ms Devlyn demonstrates her talent and shines in her skill as an author.
I was gifted this copy. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

My only regret about reading this book is that I didn’t read the ones before it in the series. Not because I got lost in any of the backstory while reading Roaming Wild, but because I can only imagine how awesome the previous Steele Ridge romances were. I loved every single character that was strategically planted in this book (barring the villains, but even they held a complexity to them).

Deke Conrad was an amazing man. One of those deep down good people with a wonderful heart and the need to do the right thing everywhere he went. That aspect, along with his intelligence, environmentally protective nature, gun and knife carrying job, and his outstanding body made him an incredible character. Evie Steele, although the youngest of the clan had a wonderful gritty nature. She never gave up on patients, her family, Deke (especially when he was being hard-headed), or herself. She was a fighter, a classically strong heroine. She waited for no one to take care of her because she knew she could do it herself. But not too tough to know how much stronger loving Deke would make her.

This was a wonderful book, and I do believe there’s a good chance of me plunging backwards to read the other books in the series. As I read this book I kept wondering if Deke’s SONR team would get stories of their own. I’d love to read those, too.

The Steel Ridge series grows more riveting with each new story...Ms Devlyn had me completely captivated from the onset, literally taking my breath away with the perfect combination of romance, intense intrigue, and familial loyalties.

There was not one aspect of Derek and Evie's story that didn't surpass all expectations of what this sixth book in the series held. Their draw to each other was as heartwarming as it was heart stopping. Derek's strength and Evie's boldness created a unique couple who drew me into their depth of the long held pull towards each other.

Ms Devlyn provided a roller coaster ride that was perfectly crafted to keep me hanging on page after page so completely engrossed in what action was just around the corner. Each aspect of the story was so believable that at times I needed a break to catch my breath before continuing.

There is a certain sadness in knowing that only one more book, Jonah's story, remains in the series. The Steels have become a pseudo family...that'll be sure missed.

This ARC book is a complimentary copy provided by the author. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

Evie Steele can stand up to any man. After all she has brothers who gave her no peace. This is why she won't let Deke Conrad refuse to acknowledge their attraction. He's determined to ignore their chemistry. He doesn't want to put her in danger. He's a special agent for the Federal Wildlife Service on a dangerous assignment. Will Evie ever get her man? This is an exciting and suspenseful story. Their romance adds to the drama as the enemy targets Evie. Deke is afraid he's not worthy of this feisty woman. Their battle of wills is amazing. I couldn't put this book down. There is so much action and so many unexpected twists that I couldn't wait to see what happens next. Deke and his team fight the wildlife traffickers who have no respect for animals or humans. I was shocked by their ruthless disregard for life. The story has violence that shocked me. I wanted right to prevail. Deke and Evie are compelling characters. I liked them. As always the Steele Family stands together to help as does Deke's team. Tracey Devlyn wrote an amazing story.
I received a copy of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed. My comments are my honest opinion.

Being the first book of Tracey Devlyn's that I have read, I am kicking myself for not having read any sooner!

Deke is a Special Wildlife Agent trying to bring down a huge illegal trapping business. Evie is a newly graduated nurse who volunteers her services to travel to remote towns with free medical aid. The two have known each other for years however there is quite an age difference that prevents Deke from reaching out to Evie.

There is some good humour laced throughout the story. For example, when Reid, Evie's brother, is waiting for her to say what she wants to but isn't sure how to say it he says...
“We’re not getting any prettier.” An eyebrow lift accompanied Reid’s nudge. 😂
These short quips balance the dangerous adventure Deke and his team embark on.

The story is easy to read and quite fast pace wise. It is told from a few point of views and this enables the reader to gain better insight and understanding of the characters. There is plenty of action and drama as well as good old fashioned smouldering passion.

I recommend this to everyone.

I love this series! All the books have romance, suspense, and secrets. It had to be so hard for Deke to not be able to tell his friends and family what he really did for a living. His job cost him his family and some friends. I really didn’t like his father. I know Deke didn’t want to get involved with Evie because of his job and because of their age difference. If you have read any books in this series you know all the Steele siblings are strong willed and can be stubborn. Evie has been in love with Deke for a long time. I can’t imagine what it was like for her to have all her older brothers “protecting” her all the time. I admired Evie for going after her nursing degree and helping others in the mountains that can’t afford to get medical care. Deke’s undercover work unintentionally gets his brother and Evie involved unknowingly. There are some sick people in this book that would have scared me half to death. I loved the book and strongly encourage you to read the book.

Wow! I didn't expect Evie Steele to be who she was when I picked up this book. From previous Steele books, I had an entirely different view of her. I was wrong – Evie is all grown up in the book. I felt kind of like Deke and Evie's brothers must have felt, that here is this strong and resilient woman that knows her mind. Oh and she might have just a teeny bit of the Steele stubbornness! Deke is dense because he doesn't realize it, but Evie isn't going to just let him walk away, secrets or no secrets.

I was amazed with the path that this book took. All of the characters had pivotal roles and depth to them. The story line ran as deep as the back country that it was set in. This was just amazing and left me wanting to read more.

Tracey Devlyn brings us a fast paced and thrilling adventure with Roaming Wild. She mentions at the end of the book that she has never written a military style book before and I think she did wonderful in her first attempt. The idea of a elite black ops team within the US Fish and Wildlife Service was novel and interesting.

The chemistry between Deke and Evie was off the charts and I couldn't help but root for Deke. He had given up so much because of his job and because of his friendship with the Steele family. I was really happy to see them finally accepting their love for each other. The suspense of the story was also riveting and I was glued to the book from start till end.

I fell in love with Special Agent Deke Conrad and his chemistry, repartee and heartwarming romance with Evie Steele. First of all I need to state that I haven't read the rest of the novels in this series. That being said, I thought it was a brilliant read. The characters were interesting and I loved the traveling medical station. There was a fun complex story-line, which had me immediately engaged. I love that they're both headstrong, but still have a good head on their shoulders. I especially liked it when Evie said she'd stay put because she realized she would just slow him down. Smart woman. She knows when to push and when to hang back.

I'll definitely be going back to read the other parts of this series.

I'm sorry I started to read this series towards the end however will still enjoy going back and reading the first five books.

Evie and Deke have know each other for years, Deke is one of her brother's best friend. Evie tries to push them together however Deke is reluctant even though it's what he desires.

Wow! This story is jam packed with suspense and adventures. There never seems to be a dull moment and the small twists and turns make it even more enjoyable.

This is a new author and series to me and I absolutely love them. Evie knows what and who she wants, but it takes more, a lot more convincing to get Deke with the program. He thwarts her every attempt at getting close to him citing their age difference of 12 years and the most important reason, his job. Being her brother's best friend, Deke has been pining after Evie for years but hasn't acted on the attraction keeping the affection brotherly. The biggest issue is all of the secrets Deke has to keep. When his world of Black ops collide with her mobile nursing adventure people will be hurt and dreams will be crushed. Will they be able to walk away unscathed and their heart's intact?

I'm a big fan of this series and this book was another winner! I couldn't put it down. Just ask my sleepless self. I just had to know what was going to happen next. I was on the edge of my seat pretty much the whole time I was reading this book. I loved Evie and Deke. They had great chemistry. They've had a thing for each other for a long time will they finally act on those feelings? There is danger lurking. Can they stop it before more lives are claimed?

Deke Conrad knew that when becoming a special agent with SONR (Special Operations for Natural Resources) there were many things that he would have to give up, including any chance of being with his best friend's little sister, Evie Steele. But when he is forced to go somewhat under cover, his limits will be tested by another than the one person he cannot have.
Evie Steele, newly minted RN, is about to set out on the Med Mobile tour to the help out rural communities when she discovers that Deke has joined the tour in order to right an article. Evie is suspicious, what does a wildlife writer want to cover a medical out reach program? But Evie isn't going to let an opportunity to finally make Deke realize she isn't a little girl anymore go unnoticed.
This was a romance novel with a good amount of action and mystery thrown in. The entire read was enjoyable.

I enjoyed this book very much. I read the book before the others in the series but that didn’t detract from the story (you know who ended up with whom but that’s not usually a secret!) The suspense level and story were great – they kept you hanging and I thought the ending was great. The romance between Evie and Deke was also on target. They’ve known each other their entire lives. I always enjoys storied where people have known each other and their love has grown over the years. So, I liked the push-pull of him trying to ‘do the right thing’ by keeping her apart and her determination to win him over kept. I also especially loved Evie’s independent woman, fight my own fight spirit. I also enjoyed that they were working to stop a horrible team of animal poachers. I recommend this book and can’t wait to read the rest of the Steele Ridge Series.
