YAKIMA, Wash. -- A Yakima County jail inmate is facing new charges in connection with two assaults on corrections officers late last week.
Gustavo Franco, 26, attacked a corrections officer conducting a routine security check just after 7:30 a.m. Friday, according to the probable cause statement filed by county deputies.
The officer was struck repeatedly in the face, leaving him with bruises and a cut lower lip, the statement reads.
Franco was restrained and taken to an isolation cell where several hours later he assaulted a second corrections officer who was removing his wrist and ankle restraints, according to another probable cause statement.
Franco was initially arrested in connection with an assault and felony violation of a protection order earlier this month.
