Tito 'Torbellino' Dies In Mexico

Tomás Tovar Rascón, most notably known as Tito "Torbellino," was shot dead Thursday, May 29 in Ciudad Obregón, Sonora, Mexico. The Regional-Mexican singer was in town as he was set to make an appearance during the Obregón Expo 2014 on Friday evening. Born in Phoenix, Arizona, the grupero singer was attacked by six assailants that barged into the Red restaurant in Obregón City where he was enjoying a meal around 3:40 p.m. local time. "Torbellino" was dining with two other people when two people approached their table and killed the singer. After the incident Tito Torbellino was rushed to the hospital but died on the way.

It is unknown if Tito had any trouble or received death threats before the incident. Telemundo's "Un Nuevo Día" reported that people close to the artist knew he was living under severe pressure from threats, but it was not clear from where they came from. Larry Hernandez was quick to share a photo on his Facebook page with the singer and writing, "rest in peace Tito." Espinoza Paz had also worked with him and took to Twitter to write: "Tito Torbellino R.I.P. God rest his soul." El Dasa wrote on his social network: "Sonora and music is mourning. Rest in peace Tito Torbellino. Puro Sonora." Diana Reyes wrote: "I never met him in person, but I heard his music. He had the same path as me, the path of dreams."

Chiquis Rivera, daughter of the the late singer Jenni Rivera, knows what it's like to lose a loved one unexpectedly. Rivera wrote, "My prayers are with Tito Torbellino's family, especially his children. My heart hurts for them, I want to give them a hug. It is a feeling that I don't wish upon anybody." Mexican band "Los Tucanes de Tijuana" were asked to comment on his death after appearing at Festival Acapulco and were lefy "very sad" and "surprised" following the breaking news. Tito Torbellino was known for hit songs like "La Cita," "Mi Clave Es El 01," "No Eres Tu, Ahora Soy Yo" and "Tus Caprichos." Remember Tito Torbellino watching his music video down below!
