Coach Workshop

- Technical Development of Acceleration -

This classroom based workshop is the first in a series of Coach Development Workshops that Speedworks Charity plans to deliver.  The charity’s Head Coach, Marvin Rowe, along with Performance Director, Jonas Dodoo, will be hosting the afternoon.  This workshop will focus on the development of acceleration for all event groups, addressing the fundamentals of acceleration and how to incorporate them into training.  Both Marvin and Jonas have coached some of Britain’s finest athletes and helped them achieve success at national, international and Olympic level.

Having access to this type of expertise, such as high level coaches and sport scientists, was key in the development of Marvin and Jonas’s coaching progression to where they are today.  In line with the philosophy of Speedworks Charity and their mission to share knowledge and “pass it on” in order to raise standards within the coaching industry, this workshop is making the critical success strategies of the elite coaching world both accessible and affordable to coaches at development level. 

The Technical Development of Acceleration workshop will include:

•  The overall transition of Theory into Planning into Practice
•  Comprehensive use of video analysis to highlight technical subtleties
•  Understanding the fundamentals of acceleration
•  Technical development of acceleration across the spectrum of strength, plyometrics and technical drills
•  Suggestions for DIY sport science that coaches can implement and monitor with their own athletes
•  Workshop Q&A for troubleshooting that will allow the attending coaches to share and discuss their coaching issues, whilst getting advice from the hosts and fellow development coaches
