Trusted Voice Application
Galileo 3.0, Trusted Voices, is accepting applications to be the Trusted Voice (Teacher Leader) for your congressional district. Trusted Voices is a grassroots, non-partisan, network of teachers from both traditional districts and charters, mobilizing across the state of Michigan. It is an extension of the Galileo Teacher Leadership Consortium and sponsored by Oakland University’s Galileo Institute for Teacher Leadership.

Trusted Voices will support their local legislator(s) as an expert voice in the field. This opportunity is voluntary and led by teacher leaders leading from the classroom.

Through this leadership experience, participants may:
Build collaborative partnerships among administration and local policy maker(s).
Offer feedback on existing ed policy and informing future ed policy.
Participate in advocacy and education policy training.
Invite policy makers into their districts
Inform stakeholders of our current legislative agenda and updates.

Candidates do not need to be experts in education policy, however, candidates must:
Set aside their own agenda and biases, maintaining a non-partisan position.
Uphold Michigan’s Teacher Leader Standards.

As a Trusted Voice, you are responsible to inform your administration/superintendent that your local legislator(s) will receive your contact information and may reach out to you as their expert voice on how education policy is impacting student learning. Trusted Voices Representatives agree to: 1) Build positive and collaborative relationships among teacher-leaders and legislator(s).  2) Maintain a non partisan position.  3) Uphold ​Michigan’s Teacher Leader Standards​. 4) Lead on behalf of equity! We believe all students must receive the resources necessary for them to achieve their dreams.
