Training Agenda
(1) Overview: Socioeconomic & Legal/Political Issues Facing Client Population
(2) Awareness, Privilege & Intersectionality of Oppression (reflect on current level of awareness; comprehensive introduction to terms and definitions; learn to recognize privilege for cisgender individuals with goal of recognizing opportunities for bias elimination; how identities (race, class, gender identity, disability, etc.) intersect to amplify and worsen oppression.)
(3) Social and Medical Transition (Routes and Barriers to Transition-Related Care; how can a CoC assist in transition?)
(4) Legal Landscape: Moving beyond compliance towards inclusivity. (What is required under the Fair Housing Act and local and state laws to avoid discrimination against transgender and gender non-conforming clients in the provision of housing and homeless services. Discussion of inclusivity as a separate concept from compliance with legal obligations.)
(5) Delivering Culturally Appropriate Housing Services (Bias Elimination, Client Relations Skills, Creating a Welcoming Environment, and Best Practices)
(6) Practicing Skills (Putting into practice what we learned through role plays and other interactive)
(7) Creating a community of inclusion (facilitated discussion to create action steps to implement in CoC and at partner agencies)
