Basis for the creation of the association EqualIT?
During the past months several large issues with sexism and sexual harassment have been brought to light, both on Chalmers but also amongst many different professions and engineers are one of them. The Software engineering student division has decided to work actively with these issues, and as a part of that a working party has been created with the purpose of starting an association on IT which will work with this kind of issues. Such an association could arrange different events, support the other students who arrange activities, and work together with similar groups all over Chalmers. Our goal is to not only improve the software engineering programme and student division, but also to strive towards making students want to work with equality on their future jobs so that we can contribute to changing the profession as a software engineer to the better.

The purpose of this survey is to be a basis for the new association so that it can work with the issues the students on the software engineering programme thinks are the most important. It is of course anonymous, all questions are voluntary, and only the student welfare and safety representative (samo) will have access to the answers although they will be used by the working party and might be shared with the future board of the association.

Questions about your experiences of software engineering on Chalmers
We are interested in everything both large and small issues. It might be something that happened on a lecture, in hubben, on an activity arranged by the student division, or on the student division's slack. It does not have to be related to gender, but could also be due to things like age, ethnicity, sexual orientation but also things like programming skills and whether or not you speak Swedish. Of course we are very interested in hearing about the large incidents, but it is also very important that we find the small things since they often contribute to creating these problematic cultures which in turn make it possible for the most severe incidents to happen.

Write as little or as much as you feel like. If you have anything that you need help with or if there is something you don't want to share with the working party don't forget that you can always contact samo on samo@chalmers.it. This can also be done anonymously through chalmers.it/contact
Have you ever felt unsafe/uncomfortable/reacted negatively in any situation connected to the software engineering programme or student division, or do you feel that there exist problems with equality here in some other way? Please tell us!
Do you have anything else to add? Suggestions for names on the association, examples of activities the association could arrange, feedback on the survey, or anything else.
