2018 ASK ME Volunteer Application - Parkville
Please complete this form to register to be an ASK ME Volunteer at Parkville in Semester 1 2018.
To be eligible, you must be a current student at Monash University, Parkville campus who has completed at least one semester of studies at Monash.
WHAT IS THE ASK ME VOLUNTEER PROGRAM?
ASK ME Volunteers provide a 'walking help desk' service, supporting new students on campus with their everyday queries. Common queries are often about faculty office locations; library hours and locations; and other University service information.
As an ASK ME volunteer, you will help new students transition to university and feel welcomed into the Monash student community.
You will be provided with training once accepted into this program to enable you to answer these Monash-based questions.
WHAT DO ASK ME VOLUNTEERS DO?
You will be required to wear an ASK ME t-shirt or hoodie when volunteering to make you easily identifiable as a volunteer.
Weeks 1 - 4 of Semester:
As an ASK ME volunteer, you will be helping students with their everyday queries during weeks one to four of each semester. You will be approachable and helpful to new students and we encourage you to also approach a student if they look lost or or in need of assistance.
There are no rostered hours or set locations. Once trained, volunteers wear their blue ASK Me T-shirt or hoodie as they go about their everyday University journey. This shows that a volunteer is 'on duty' and available to be approached. We also encourage volunteers to approach students if it looks like they need help or if they might need a point in the right direction. ASK ME volunteers are required to log these interactions as they happen.
Weeks 5 and 6 of Semester:
During weeks five and six, you will be out and about in your ASK ME apparel, approaching students and asking them to complete a short survey. These surveys will help both your Student Association and Monash University to create a better student experience.
