Alternate School Attendance
Alternate School Attendance is subject to available space and limited to ensure enrollment balance among schools.  Placement is not guaranteed.  One application per student per school year will be accepted.

Eligibility
You are eligible to apply for Alternate School Attendance If you meet one of the qualifying conditions below:

CHILDCARE:
Parent/guardian requests to have a child in 1st through 5th grade attend an Alternate Assigned School because child care is located in the requested alternative assigned school's boundaries.

SIBLING OF STUDENT WITH APPROVED ALTERNATE SCHOOL ATTENDANCE:
Siblings of 1st through 8th grade students who are a student currently attending desired school with approved Alternate School Attendance transfer.

ISD 885 EMPLOYEE:
Parent/guardian is an employee of the school district and requests to have a child attend school where the employee is employed.
Transportation
Parents/guardians are responsible for transporting students to and from the alternate attendance school.  Transfers may be revoked for tardies due to transportation.

Transportation will be provided if the student attends child care located within the same attendance boundary of the school in which the student is assigned.  If Alternate School Attendance based on child care is accepted, parents must contact Don's Bus Company to arrange for transportation.

Timeline
Transfers will be accepted during two (2) periods:
     1) November 1 to February 10
          Parents/Guardians will be notified of a decision by March 2, 2017
 
     2) February 11, to August 10
          Parents/Guardians will be notified of a decision no earlier than June 15 and no later
          than August 10

Process
When the number of available spaces at the requested school is less than the number of requests, applicants will be chosen by random selection with preference assigned in the following order:

1.  Siblings of currently enrolled transfer students whose parent/guardian are residents
     of the district.
2.  Siblings of currently enrolled transfer students whose parent/guardian are non-residents
     of the district.
3.  Students of resident parent/guardian.
4.  Student of non-resident parent/guardians who are current employees of the district.
5.  Students of non-resident parent/guardians.
