At G.B. Dealey Montessori & International Academy, students in grades 1-8 have the opportunity to participate in orchestra.  This is an excellent way for them to learn musicianship as well as responsibility, dedication, perseverance, and teamwork.  Orchestra includes the following instruments: violin, viola, cello, or double bass.  

Before signing up for orchestra, students should be mature enough to sit still, take care of an instrument, follow directions, and be observant.  This is to ensure that they have the best learning opportunity and don’t get frustrated with the attention to detail that is required in playing an instrument.  Students may begin playing anytime from 1st-6th grade. If they are not ready to begin next year they can always begin the following.  Orchestra is a year long commitment which starts at the beginning of the year.

Please fill out this form and return it if your student is interested in participating in orchestra for the 2018-2019 school year.  There is a $25 rental fee that will be collected at the beginning of the year before instruments are handed out.  This form is not a commitment, but will help in planning instrument usage and schedules for the following year.
