PFX Athletics is proud to introduce it Umpire Academy (est. 2018).  The Umpire Academy is designed specifically for new umpires who want to learn the essentials of umpiring fastpitch softball.  The primary focus will be on the recruitment and training of beginning umpires.  Day 1 of the academy will be classroom and field instruction.  Day 2 will have an active youth softball  tournament on site where the umpire students will be paid to umpire in the tournament games.  The beginner umpire with be on the field with a veteran umpire.  Live feedback will be given during and after the games.

The Umpire Academy will be hosted at Legends Way Ballfields, 2350 Legends Way, Clermont, FL 34711.

   Umpire Academy Dates:
   ***Sep 21, 2018 through September 23, 2018
   ***December 7, 2018 through December 9, 2019
 
Event structure:
   Friday: Classroom and field instruction
   Saturday: On-field training
   Sunday: On-field training

The Registration fee is $250.00.  There are scholarships available to any men and women under 30 years of age.  Since we have partnered with local youth softball programs during our Umpire Academy, then all students can recoup some or all of the registration fee by getting paid to umpire during the tournament with an experienced umpire.  In addition to getting paid to learn the art of officiating fastpitch softball, each umpire student will be provided contact information for their local softball association.  This will connect the new umpires with local organizations to start working more games at the local level.
