Enka (演歌) is a popular form of music which originated in the Meiji Era. Often dealing with sadness, lost love, death, and difficult times, the songs usually include words of encouragement to bring hope and perseverance.

Competition Details

Venue: Penang Yosakoi Parade 2017 Stage, Esplanade, Penang Island.
Date: 11 March 2017

Prizes:
First place ==> RM 500
Second place ==> RM 300
Third place ==> RM 200

1. Contestants below 18 yrs old may join with their parent's consent.
2. Contestants are required to perform the vocals of the song provide by organisers.
3. The full song, it's karaoke version and lyrics in Romaji are available for download at links below.
4. The entrant must NOT have a contract with production companies, record companies or music publishers.
5. Successful entrants will be contacted through email.
6. All contestants are required to be physically present on the Event Day (11st March 2017) before 4:00pm to register at the information booth to confirm their participation. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
7. The arrangement and sequence of participants will be announced and conducted on the Event Day.
8. Strictly no Lip Syncing.
9. Reading or singing from a script or printed lyrics is discouraged. Participants are expected to memorise the lyrics beforehand.
10. Participants are expected to be present until their time of performance, and are expected to be at the designated event location for the prize awarding ceremony.
11. Entrants or any person related, are not allowed to use the backtrack provided for any other purpose that are not related to the Enka Singing Competition by Penang Yosakoi Parade 2017. Misuse of the backtrack for any other purposes beside this competition will be consider as an illegal act and a copyrights violation.
12. The organising committee reserves the rights to change the rules and regulations. Notices will be sent out to participants via email.
