Guidelines & Qualifications
The deadline for accepting applications will be Saturday, January 13, 2018 by 8 pm.  The committee will hold interviews, if enough applicants apply, in the Social Hall of the fire station on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 10 am.  Applicants will be sent additional information regarding interviews via email.  The titles of Miss Middletown Honorary Fire Chief and Runner-Up will be announced following the interviews.


QUALIFICATIONS (per the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Headquarters & the Middletown Vol. Fire & Rescue Co., Inc.):

•  Applicant must be a resident of our firefighting district

•  Applicant must be between the ages of 16 and 21 years of age before/on May 1;
•  Applicant must be unmarried and have never been married, nor had her marriage annulled;
•  Applicant must not be pregnant, nor have any children;
•  Applicants under the age of 18 are required to have their parent/guardian complete and sign the Parental Consent Form and submit it with their application.  Those applicants who do not submit this form will have their application withdrawn.


EXPECTATIONS of Miss Middletown:

•  Miss Middletown will be crowned at the Company's Annual Awards Banquet on Saturday, February 3, 2018. 
•  Miss Middletown is expected to participate in the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival's Miss In-Town and Out-of-Town Miss Honorary Fire and Rescue Chief Contest on Saturday, March 24 at 7 pm at Daniel Morgan Middle School in Winchester.  There will be a mandatory rehearsal that afternoon at 3 pm.  Contestants are required to wear both evening-wear and street/business attire during the pageant. The Company will provide an escort for the honorary fire chief, for the In-Town Contest.
•  Miss Middletown is expected to participate with the Company in the Apple Blossom Festival's Fireman's Parade on Friday, May 4.
•  All of the County's Honorary Fire and Rescue Chiefs are invited to the Schenck Foods Firefighters’ Reception on Friday, May 4 at 7 pm to be held at the Millwood Fire Department Banquet Hall in Winchester following the completion of the Firefighter’s Parade.  
•  Miss Middletown is also expected to ride on a float in the Grand Feature Parade on Saturday, May 5 with the other county honorary fire chiefs.
•  Miss Middletown will also be invited to participate with the Company in various community parades, if available, including the Middletown 4th of July Parade and Middletown Christmas Parade.

NOTE:  Further details on all of the above-mentioned events will be given to the 2018 Miss Middletown upon announcement of the winner.
