RESPECT FOR OTHERS

• The GDG Toronto Android Slack (“the Slack”) should be a safe place for everybody regardless of gender, gender identity or gender expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance (including but not limited to body size), race, age, or religion.
• We have zero tolerance for abuse, harassment, or discrimination.
• We respect people’s boundaries and identities.
• If you experience abuse, harassment, discrimination, or feel unsafe, let a moderator know. The role of the admins is to be an unbiased mediator, they will not moderate or edit anything written in the Slack unless it is required as a result of a discussed dispute.

KEEP THINGS LEGAL
• Do not use the Slack to publish, post, distribute, or disseminate defamatory, infringing, obscene, or other unlawful material or information.
• Do not upload files or post messages that contain photos, music, software or other material protected by intellectual property laws, rights of privacy or publicity or any other applicable law unless you own or control the rights thereto or have received all necessary consents.
• We condemn stalking, doxxing, or publishing private information, threats of harm, harassment, or anything that compromises people’s safety.

ETIQUETTE
• Do not engage in disruptive activity, such as persistent off-topic comments and postings or statements that incite others to violate this Code of Conduct or participate in illegal activities. We want everyone to chat and post in our Slack in a positive environment.
• Please don’t “spam” through our Slack; none of our users like it. To spam includes sending identical and irrelevant submissions to many different channels or users through private messages.
• While this Slack might seem like an ideal recruiting pool, our goal is to provide a relaxing forum for the free-sharing of knowledge and ideas.
• If you are a recruiter, do not private message other members unless (a) that other member has posted a job request in #hiring, (b) that other member has reached out directly to you via a private message or a direct response in a channel, or (c) that other member has previously publicly stated that they welcome contact from recruiters and job posters.

ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY
• You are responsible and liable for all your activities while participating in the Slack.
• It’s your responsibility to create a positive environment where people feel safe to discuss all topics Android. If you are called out for something, let’s listen without interruption, do not attempt to disqualify what they have to say, and ask for tips / help with avoiding making the offense in the future.
• Apologize and ask forgiveness if you are found in the wrong.

UPHOLDING THE CODE
• Failing to follow the community guidelines as described in this document carries consequences.
• For minor infractions, you may be temporarily suspended from the Slack. Upon repeat offenses, or if the community believes you are not acting in good faith, you may be asked to leave permanently.
