The Juniper School has grown to include a first grade and a second/third  grade class next fall. These two Grades classes and our Kindergarten class are located at North Baptist Church 76 Charleston Ave, 43214.

The Juniper School offers a comprehensive integrated curriculum.

Each grade is led in the core academic subjects by a trained class teacher who progresses with the students from year to year. Learning is enhanced inside this familiar and knowing relationship.

The Grades Students begin each day with an in-depth, uninterrupted academic study-block, the theme of which changes every several weeks. These periods of academic study, called “main lesson,” are supported and extended through ongoing and parallel learning in the visual, musical, dramatic and practical arts, foreign languages, movement and physical education.
This holistic approach fosters mastery of each subject through an engaging process of faculty-led presentation, collaborative exploration, personal integration and, ultimately, a deep understanding of the subject matter.


Classroom community matters deeply at The Juniper School.

The main lesson is followed each day by snack/recess. Then the children will have a Specialty Teacher trained in Handwork or French for a one hour lesson before lunch.

Our afternoons encourage outdoor work and play, integrating academics into time in nature. Art, storytelling, puppetry and class plays also take place in the afternoons.

Our school year begins on September 10, 2018 and will end on May 17, 2019.  We will follow Columbus City Schools Calendar for our two week winter break, one week spring break, and winter weather closures.

Our school-agers meet Monday-Thursday from 8:30am-2:00pm.

8:30: Prompt arrival and greetings
8:40: Main Lesson (integrating movement, reading, writing, math, and more)
10:40: Snack (from home) and outdoor play
11:00:  Language M/W and Handwork T/Th
12:00-12:30 Lunch (brought from home)  *Optional dismissal before lunch*
12:30-2:00 Outdoor Play
2:00 Outdoor Dismissal

Children are invited to stay with our extended day teacher to explore the world of puppetry. They will create puppets, artistic settings and tell stories.
