IT Infrastructure Policy
IT infrastructure using policy in School of Planning and Architecture Bhopal

Policy is apply to all users using IT infrastructure (Internet and Computer) at SPA Bhopal
This policy is design for responsible use of IT infrastructure within the premises of SPA Bhopal. This covers all services and resources provided through the institute (either through the Computer Center or through any individual department). (Note: This document is subject to revision for time to time  without advance notice and same will be binding on allusers.)

Statement of Policy
All users of SPA Bhopal will be subject to the following Acceptable Use Policy

Policy for content
I shall be responsible for all use of this network. In case I own a computer and decide to connect it to SPA Bhopal network, I will be responsible for all the content on it, especially that which I make available to other users. (This provision will also apply to any computer or device for which I am responsible, and is included in the meaning of “my computer”.) In case I do not own a computer but am provided some IT resources by SPA Bhopal, I will be held responsible for the content stored in the designated workspace allotted to me (examples: file storage area, Labs, stored/archived emails, on Computer Centre or Department machines).

Network Usage Policy
I will be held responsible for all the network traffic generated by “my computer”. I understand that network capacity is a limited, shared resource. I agree that physically tampering with network connections/equipments, sending disruptive signals, or making EXCESSIVE USE of network resources is strictly prohibited. Repeated offenses of this type could result in permanent disconnection of network services. I shall not share the network connection beyond my own use and will not act as a forwarder/ masquerader for anyone else.


IT resources for Academic use
I understand that the IT infrastructure at SPA Bhopal is for academic use and I shall not use it for any commercial purpose or to host data services for other people or groups. Also, I shall not host or broadcast information that might harm others or may be otherwise considered objectionable or illegal as per Indian law.

Policy for Identity of users
I shall not attempt to deceive others about my identity in electronic communications or network traffic. I will also not use SPA Bhopal IT resources to threaten, intimidate, or harass others. I will not intrude on privacy of anyone. In particular I will not try to access computers (hacking), accounts, files, or information belonging to others without their knowledge and explicit consent.

Policy for Monitoring and Virus
I understand that the IT resources provided to me are subject to monitoring, with cause, as determined through consultation with the SPA Bhopal administration, when applicable. The monitoring may include aggregate bandwidth usage to effectively manage limited IT resources as well as monitoring traffic content in response to a legal or law enforcement request to do so. I authorize SPA Bhopal administration to perform network vulnerability and port scans on my systems, as needed, for protecting the overall integrity and efficiency of SPA Bhopal network. I shall maintain my computer on this network with current virus detection software and current updates of my operating system, and I shall attempt to keep my computer free from viruses, worms, trojans, and other similar programs.


Policy for file Sharing
I shall not use the IT infrastructure to engage in any form of illegal file sharing (examples: copyrighted material, obscene material).

Policy for licensees
The following activities are strictly prohibited, with no exceptions:

Violations of the rights of any person or company protected by copyright, trade secret, patent or other intellectual property, or similar laws or regulations, including, but not limited to, the installation or distribution of "pirated" or other software products that are not appropriately licensed for use by SPA Bhopal.
Unauthorized copying of copyrighted material including, but not limited to, digitization and distribution of photographs from magazines, books or other copyrighted sources, copyrighted music, and the installation of any copyrighted software for which SPA Bhopal or the end user does not have an active license is strictly prohibited.

Enforcement
Any student found to have violated this policy may be subject to disciplinary action, in accordance with student discipline rules of the Institute and including termination of their enrollment in a program at SPA Bhopal. All decisions with regard to actions will be subject to the Disciplinary Committee, SPA Bhopal.
Any employee found to have violated this policy may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of their employment at SPA Bhopal.




Terms

Users :- Any person or resident of the SPA campus (faculty, staff, student, contract, temporary, or outsource staff thereof) who makes use of facilities provided by the Computer Center.
Employee :-Any person currently employed either directly by SPA Bhopal (eg.: faculty, administrative and technical staff). This also includes any persons employed by outside agencies but making use of computing or network resources provided by SPA Bhopal.
